Yay!!!! What an amazing thing to find on Thanksgiving! This is one of the best chapters yet! Brilliant, of course it makes sense that Aragorn would've learned to fight the Nazgul from Thranduil's people. Hope you and the family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!

· Chapter 0: Dust and Memory
While some flawed grammar remains, this story, and especially this third part WOULD have made me a LOTR fan, if old MERP roleplaying by Iron Crown Enterprises wouldn't have already achieved that. Now, I feel once more tempted to write some fiction myself. Far from my usual style, as the demands & standards for Middle-earth are higher than most.
The story here takes place, before Sauron is fully back in power and before Mordor clearly is the enemy again. It therefore takes place BEFORE the War of the Ring!
A story of love, of duty, of bedchamber debates, and of adventurous courage. We get a wonderful depiction of Thranduil the person & king, Thranduille, to please my proofreading software.
Yes, main char from who's perspective we read the most is the King of the Mirkwood Elves aka Wood Elves.
Adversary is the `Necromancer of Dol Guldur´, who happens to be Sauron in his weakened state and deceitful, as always.
It is a mature story, dying, poison, treachery, and murder in it. Even the mention of `sex´, which back in the old days made geeks & roleplayers feel their nerves tingle, as nowadays only Cosplay-ASMR videos tend to do it. ;-)
While note a masterpiece yet, this is a SOLID work and quite worth reading. I read 22 chapters in one night, and I regretted running out of legal stay-awake powder (energy sniff) to finish it in `one fell stroke aka one stupid but happy night wasted on it´.
Kudos, dear author!

Wow! The war is over. The dead buried. There will be a brief moment of peace in Middle Earth until, within Mr. Baggin's mortal lifetime, Sauron will finally be destroyed for good. But after this battle, Elves, Dwarves and Men will face whatever comes together. As others have said, reading your work is like seeing the original story expanded, enlarged. It has been like being there, watching, listening, smelling the wind with the characters. As long as you keep writing, I wish to keep reading. "Merry be the Greenwood while the world is young"!

This chapter was simply amazing.. I loved your last line especially, it is the whole conclusion of the struggle that the elven king has led against the Necromancer. And it was great to see Thranduil reclaim the heirlooms of his house *smile*.

Hi conquistadora.
Thanks for another great chapter. I've just finished rereading the hobbit and I am amazed how your work ties in with Tolkien's.
It is great to see Thranduil getting some peace of mind with Sauron aka Necromancer finally banished from the borders of Mirkwood. And yes, as Gandalf said there are many things to be grateful for in this world...

I don't often review, but I wanted to drop in and tell you that I have been reading your tale of Thranduil from the beginning, and loving it. I eagerly wait for each installment. I love how you so skillfully blend gap filling with canon, and bring this character to vivid and sympathetic life.
I recall when Thranduil was forced to yield the crowns to the Dwarves, and I rejoice that in this chapter, he has them again.
Be assured that I will continue to read this saga, for so long as you spin it out.

· Chapter 38: To Resist Despair
The long defeat was fought by more than just Celeborn and Galadriel, for certain, and it makes complete sense that Thranduil would be worn out - even without Sauron poking around in his mind. It’s good that Gandalf was able to come and strengthen him. I feel like we must be getting close to other well-known events! We shall see, anyway. Regardless, hopefully his outlook will be able to remain better for a while.
Enjoying, thx as always for writing!

I almost missed this chapter! :-) I don’t blame him at all for not committing his forces to that cause - it would lead to nothing but death and for no real purpose. He did warn them, and not only didn’t they listen but they didn’t even take the warning with grace. If there are no lives to be saved by going in, there’s no reason at this point to do so …
Thx as always for sharing!

It is nice to be reminded once in a while, isn’t it? :)
I enjoyed seeing Thranduil’s affinity with the forest and the forest creatures in this chapter. I also appreciate his thoughtfulness for their neighbors during the difficult times - and honestly, I don’t really blame him for working out a way to part the Dwarves from a bit more of their hoard than they might have wanted….
Nice job, as always! I enjoyed, thx for writing!

You made my day with this chapter!!! It is simply breathtaking. Thranduil burning his wife's dresses broke my heart. It is truly amazing when you show as years, ages pass and he still stands as a warden of his people. I don't really know what I like most: everything is perfect. We have Thor- I love when Thranduil reigns his temper when he sees Oropher's heirlooms and Melian's brooch, his reflections about gathered treasure or when young Brand tries to lecture him forgetting that the king SAW the past not heard about it. Thranduil is wonderfully developed as a character. It was good to see Tauriel and can't wait to read more about her. I loved when she mentioned how proud she was following the king banner and that it was sort of addictive to fight battles with him. I am really looking forward to the next chapter!!!! Smaug will come soon and it will be so exciting to follow this tread. Thank you so much for your time and effort to write this stunning story and for sharing with us!!!!!!!

Wonderfully written political background!!! It is interesting to see who was against to invite Thranduil into the council. The king is breathtaking as usual!!! Love when he summerises the background saying that High Lords are happy with his efforts but not willing to do something more. Characters are great- I really don't like wizards:) they are so arrogant and forget about respect to their host. Tauriel is just awesome!!! Can't wait to see more about her. This story enchants from the very first word.I adore everything and can't say enough good things about it. This story never disappoints and I am looking forward to to seeing crawling Mithrandir to say sorry to Thranduil. Stay safe!!!

I am loving the increasing frequency of your updates! This makes me VERY happy!
Thranduil is so slighted by the other great Elven lords. They are so shortsighted. His anger is completely justified. Elven arrogance once again on display!! I'm loving your interpretation of Tauriel and I look forward to more! I can feel Thranduil weariness and yet he soldiers on!
Thank you so much for this story!

Merry Christmas! Thank you for the lovely present of a new chapter of this epic and enthralling story. The title told me that the chapter was not going to end in sweetness and light! ;-)
Poor Thranduil, destined not to take his leave of Middle Earth. But I am glad he has had a four hundred year respite from Sauron's machinations. Lindoriel will most definitely understand. Tauriel, a coincidence of naming or is this Tauriel of Hobbit film name? If it is, it is a lovely origin story for her.
Hope you are having a safe and happy Christmas!
Be safe, Mellon nin!

I don't know how you are doing it but each chapter leaves me mesmerized and thinking about next update!!!! Now Thranduil definitely will not sail to Valinor when Sauron attacked once more. I think that even Thranduil knows that he will not be happy in the Middle Earth his sense of duty will not allow him to leave. I l suspect that most of his people will have to leave with him or he will always think he abandoned his duties. I wonder how it will be dealt with in the future when we know that Legolas will not be his heir. Of course others can replace him but I think he would feel as if he failed. It was wonderful that he managed to save Tauriel and I can't wait to find out more about her. I know that she will be completely different than Tauriel in movies :).Thank you so much for posting this chapter in Christmas time!!! I am so grateful you managed to find some time for writing. Merry Christmas to you and your family if you celebrate!!!!

Thank you! Yes, as you guessed, Tauriel will be similar to but quite different than movie Tauriel. Merry Christmas!

It is so sad that Thranduil wants to sail but on the other hand it is understandable. Love your idea that he will sail in the future and not fade in Greenwood. I wonder if Legolas will find peace in the Middle Earth or perhaps when he sails too. Compelling richly developed characters, spectacular world-building!!! This story grabbed me and wouldn't let me go! It is amazingly addictive and I love rereading chapters just to enjoy once more this great adventure. Stay safe!!!!

Conquistadora!!!
I cannot tell you the joy I feel whenever I see you have updated either of your Thranduil stories, this one most of all. It is just a world that is so well rendered I feel as if I am once again visiting an old friend!
It is good to see the Greenwood happy and prosperous. A lovely respite. But as you write Thranduil has sacrificed so much of himself and he just wants to be whole again. Lindóriel's possessions kept for her as if she were to return from a long trip was especially moving. Of course Thranduil is now pondering the ship to the unknown West where she awaits him.
The emeralds! Ah yes! memories. Thranduil sleeping with them clenched my heart. But I suspect that something will happen to keep him here in Middle Earth. *sigh* Poor Thranduil.
Thank you so much for this story.
I remember you said that you had a move and a newborn coming after the last chapter posted. Did the move go well and how is the new bundle of joy!
