Wow wow wow. LOVED it. So very hobbity... sad but comfy... subdued playfulness and deep honor and respect... I really enjoyed that Antane. I loved everything about it. Poor Frodo. I especially liked how you brought Eru in, and Elrond's simple "hanon le, ada" was very touching... to hear Elrond call someone Ada... sends chills up my arms and warms my heart. Thank you for this wonderful gem.

Queen Galadriel · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 4: The Third Day and Fourth Night

I'm reviewing two chapters here, since I have so much to catch up on here at SoA. I love the brief but vivid look into what Frodo was thinking and feeling, the voices of Eluvatar and Elrond. Lovely linguistic touch, too! (This makes me curious, was "Iorhael" ever used in the movies?) And the sweet assureances to Frodo from Iluvatar are heart-warming. And this chapter is a wonderful turning point. The love in the midst of so much pain...even relief, maybe, to hear Frodo speak at last, giving some sign that he is still with them. Poor Hobbits, though, there's nothing worse than seeing one you love suffer and knowing that it's necessary for any relief, and not being able to do anything about it. I love the thankful prayers when it's all over, and the ending of the chapter with all at rest for a while. I can see Pip singing "Till the Dawning of Day" with his 'Tookish' lilt and that so-sweet trebble. I never thought about it before, really. Thank you so much for including the translation notes--that's kind! :) Lovely two chapters. It's not over, is it? :) You can't end with "The war continued," can you? :) God bless, Galadriel

Hantanyel, ammelda! Glad you enjoyed. I don't recall Iorhael was ever used in the movies. This particular story is ending, but I'm going to be updating Children of Iluvatar some soon. Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane :)

This story is just full of love, Antane. :D

Hannon le, shirebound - love and angst, my favorite things! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 4: The Third Day and Fourth Night

A proper summation--the battle won, the war continuing. But without this warrior there will be far less chance of victory.

harrowcat · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 4: The Third Day and Fourth Night

So it is found and his light can shine a little more freely again. Great description of the pain of watching another suffer. I love the ideas of the tears blessing where they touch and Sam's falling into the wound.

Author's reply

Hantanyel, my dear for this and all your reviews! I thought into the wound was the best place for Sam's tears myself. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Elemmírë · 24 October 2006 · Chapter 4: The Third Day and Fourth Night

Another well done chapter depicting the love and care between all of the hobbits and dear Frodo. Loved the lullabys as well! The Queen always comes up with the best lyrics for any occassion, doesn't she. Namarie, ~Elemmírë~

Armariel · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 4: The Third Day and Fourth Night

The queen translates beautifully!:D And the worst is over and everyone can get some sleep...let's hope! ~~~{~@

Althea · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 4: The Third Day and Fourth Night

Your description of the hobbits crying as Elrond worked to find the shard painted a vivid picture in my mind. I had to smile at Pippin's wondering if anyone was listening to their prayers and I loved the thank you's when the shard was removed.

Author's reply

Hannon le! Glad you enjoyed! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Armariel · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 3: The Second Day and Third Night

Nice job of getting into Frodo's mind. Scary and effective. Another light grew and that too drove toward Frodo’s heart. He stood in the midst of a battlefield and he feared for the strength to fight until the end. Lovely! ~~~{~@

Author's reply

Hannon le, my dear! I am glad you enjoyed. We stand in the same battlefield ourselves. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 3: The Second Day and Third Night

Yes, Light battles with Darkness for the heart and soul of Frodo Baggins. Wonderfully written, Antane.

Author's reply

Hannon le, my dear Larner! Glad you enjoyed. I thought it made sense that Frodo gets to know a little the One he will soon say yes to at the Council. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

harrowcat · 23 October 2006 · Chapter 3: The Second Day and Third Night

Wow *shivers*.

Althea · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 3: The Second Day and Third Night

I love that Frodo can hear the comforting voice promising to stay wtih him. The image of the battlefield is very powerful. I'm looking forward to the next part.

Author's reply

Hannon le! We stand in the midst of the same battlefield ourselves and the same fight is going on in our souls. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Elemmírë · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 3: The Second Day and Third Night

You're moving right along here! I didn't get a chance to leave you a review for the last chapter, so I'll leave you a double review here. I really enjoyed the last chapter, Antane--Gandalf and Bilbo's concern (I was wondering when Bilbo was going to make an appearance), but most of all I loved Gandalf's explanation of the Creator to Pippin, et all and the praying lessons. The hobbits' innocence reminded me of little children first going to Church and Catechism. Poor, dear Frodo. He's so full of pain and he must be so very scared, but I'm glad he's realized he's not alone. He truly has become a battlefield for good and evil. Can't wait for more!

Author's reply

Hannon le, my dear Elemmire! I am so glad you are enjoying. Pippin is so fun to write and I liked that bit about prayer myself. :) We are all on the same battlefield and engaged in the same warfare as Frodo. Have you read the latest chapter of Love Endures? I am anxious to know what you think. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Althea · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 2: The First Day and Second Night

Your description of the Hobbits learning to pray was beautiful. I had to smile at Pippin's worry that the Creator would become annoyed with him for asking for Frodo recovery too many times. It's a joy to see Sam, Merry, and Pippin learning more about the One who loves them so.

Author's reply

Hannon le! It was an enjoyable chapter to write - I do like brining in the spiritual side of things that is so vital to this story. And Pippin is just so much fun! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Frodo Baggins · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 2: The First Day and Second Night

That was really sweet about the prayer. Sometimes I think we forget that it really *is* that simple, as long as our hearts are right. hannon le. :) Im mil le, God Bless, Frodo Baggins Frodo's letter should be arriving now. :)

Author's reply

A belated hannon le, my dear Frodo! I've listened to my young nephews' voices while saying the Rosary and thinking how sweet it must be to God to hear His children's voices raised in prayer. That didn't inspire this chapter but I like the idea of these innocent hobbits learning about their Creator. Namarie, God bless, Im mil le, Antane :)

Frodo Baggins · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 1: The First Night

Oooh, you have my stomach in knots! THis is wonderful. Frodo's letter is on it's way. Namarie! im mil le, God Bless, Frodo Baggins

Queen Galadriel · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 2: The First Day and Second Night

Oh, and it gets better! I love what you added to chapter two, and Gandalf's introductions are quite amusing. I love how Pip proves Gandalf's point by spouting off a string of fast talk as soon as he's awake! LOL! And the spiritual part of this is so wonderful; I especially like Elrond teaching the Hobbits how to pray and their being so eager to learn. Beautiful, just beautiful. And you've captured Bilbo's voice perfectly. God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Hantanyel, ammelda! So glad you enjoyed this tale! Pippin is a dear, isn't he? :) Namarie, God bless, Melinyel, Antane

Andrea · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 2: The First Day and Second Night

"All right then, Please make Frodo well again. Thank you," Pippin said fervently ... "Do you think it worked? Should we say more or louder or anything?" And that's how Pippin learns to pray! Very nice! I especially liked the addition of "Thank you". What a polite hobbit he is :)

Author's reply

Hannon le! Pippin is fun to write. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

harrowcat · 22 October 2006 · Chapter 2: The First Day and Second Night

I am liking this a lot Antane and just love your Pippin! Just one quibble though - would Elrond be referring to Aragorn as Elessar at this point? I would have thought Estel or Aragorn.

Author's reply

I love him too! Isn't just so cute? I realized my error too late about Estel and changed that as soon as I could - but I knew someone would catch it! Hannon le, my dear, for all your very kind reviews of this and Via. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

Larner · 21 October 2006 · Chapter 2: The First Day and Second Night

And so three Hobbits learn to pray. And they wait to see to what Frodo will yet come.

Author's reply

We all have to learn somehow don't we? :) I think Iluvatar was most pleased to hear those prayers. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

shirebound · 21 October 2006 · Chapter 2: The First Day and Second Night

You would be well informed never to wonder out loud who is most loyal or loves Frodo the most or you’d be in the midst of an argument that could stretch until the world is re-made." The edges of Elrond’s mouth twitched. "I consider myself forewarned then. I have already seen the most tender love from all of them." Awwww, this is so sweet and gentle.

Author's reply

A belated but heartfelt hannon le, my dear shirebound! I am so glad you enjoyed. That means so much. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Larner · 21 October 2006 · Chapter 1: The First Night

The need to reopen the wound not just once but twice must have been devastating to Sam, Merry, and Pippin. But they do all they can to assist and not get in the way, and to encourage Frodo to hang on in spite of all else. Love Sam here, and Pippin's quickness to try to help.

Author's reply

Hantanyel, my dear Larner! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Elemmírë · 21 October 2006 · Chapter 1: The First Night

I like how you are writing all the hobbits descriptions from Elrond's POV, as he does not know who is who yet. All the Elf lord sees is three little hobbits who care and love their stricken friend very much. He also sees that these three need to be active and help with their friend's care and allows them to do those little things to help him without being in the way as well. Poor, dear Frodo. I can't wait to read the rest, Antane! ~Elemmírë~

Author's reply

Hannon le, my dear! Glad you are enjoying! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Queen Galadriel · 21 October 2006 · Chapter 1: The First Night

Ooo! I'm so excited about this story! I love Elrond's POV here, and the Hobbits' gentle and loving care and so obvious anxiety. Poor dears, I know they're exhausted, and everything goes from very bad to three times worse when you're tired. I can't wait to see more of this! God bless, Galadriel

shirebound · 21 October 2006 · Chapter 1: The First Night

A good beginning, Antane. Professor Tolkien certain left these days open to our own interpretation, and I enjoy seeing how different writers imagine these events. The solicitious hobbits and mighty Elf Lord are a wonderful team.
