Waaaahhh! Pip rules! I love your flustered Frodo (who doesn't have enough hip :D) and smart-mouth Merry ("Do we have rope?"). Thanks for the chuckle! :)
Author's reply
Thank you for reading! Frodo had his hands full in this one, didn't he? Sooner or later he is going to have to consider the rope idea for both cousins. LOL

Oh, I just love your writing! What fun! I'm substitute teaching and cracked up while reading this piece. Guess I'd better wait until after school before I read the next one!
Thanks for a fun story!

Merry always had a cynical understanding of his little cousin's tricksiness. Even if he denied being shrewd! But Saradoc's got Pippin's number - even if he does let him slip away.
The torment, though, of putting Frodo, Merry and Pippin in a room with jam tarts and then telling them not to eat any! I'm not surprised at all that it ended in general mayhem and stickiness. (I love Pippin's bells. Just such a sweet picture.)
Author's reply
Thanks for the review. It was too much of Esmeralda to expect the lads to stay out of the tarts, wasn't it? Those bells just keep turning up in my wee Pippin stories. I'm glad you like them!

Clever Saradoc, not to be fooled by innocent baby Pippin! And how cute would a tiny hobbit baby be with bells on his trousers?! *melts into little puddle of goo*
That pursuit down the passage had me rolling off my chair! Poor Frodo, somewhat bemused and disbelieving at first that Pip could be so naughty. He is not having a good afternoon, is he? I love your Merry too - they all spring from the screen in all their jam-covered glory!! Wonderful, and just what I needed this week!
Author's reply
The bells are in several of my stories now. I got the idea from those little bells that people often put on baby shoes and for some reason the bells keep turing up in my stories. Glad you enjoyed them.
I love slap-stick and so the chase down the hall sort of became a slap-stick event. Thank you for the lovely review and for reading. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Look what you've done? You tempted me. :p
But it was good to laugh again! Poor Frodo! He's perfectly innocent. His cousins seem to be a force he had never been able to control. And poor Saradoc also! But at least he is wise enough to see through the thief :)
And now, seeing that scene in the parlour - Esmeralda very concerned with her guests, Frodo and Merry arguing, Saradoc dropping the child - let me turn back time some 8 or 9 years. The raising of Frodo and Merry must have been utter chaos :)
Author's reply
You know, I bet Frodo and Merry were quite a challenge for Saradoc and Esmeralda. It's a wonder they managed to get those two raised don't you think? LOL
Thanks for reading and reviewing and I am very glad that this made you laugh.

ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!
“She won’t miss one or two,” Merry objected. “Look at all of those. Do you think she counted them?”
My mom actually DOES count the number of cookies she bakes or brownines she cut! She knows when someone's been into them and shouldn't have been (namely me)
Poor, poor Frodo. He always mean well ... he should have taken both his young cousins to see the new pony. It's truly a wonder that he was not more traumatized by all these incidents involving wee Pippin. I can just picture Bilbo next suggesting they go visit Tuckborough (or that Pippin come visit Bag End) and Frodo backing away, then running for his life down The Hill, screaming the entire way. LOL!
I LOVE your Merry. He is just so full of cleverness and he knows exactly what to say and when to say it, so as to implicate Frodo, but not himself ... to a point. Smart, cheeky little bugger! :D I really enjoyed Merry and Frodo's argument, too. It takes a lot for Frodo to lose his cool and be reduced to a shouting match. And it's realistic too, if Frodo ever really did spend part of his childhood growing up in Buckland alongside Merry, until he was adopted.
So, when will Esmeralda be turned onto Pippin's ways, as Frodo was? It seems that Saradoc is the only one semi-listening to Merry, who knows the baby the best. And when is she going to also realize that poor Frodo has nothing against Pippin, but that her own son seems a mite touchy around the baby?
I love reading about the cousins at this age, for they are all still children, yet all three are together as well. *sighs happily*
This was such a great read, Grey Wonderer, one that I enjoyed immensely!

Thank you! I just figured that a Hobbit-mum would have to be smart enough to count the baked goods. Sounds like your mom is very clever too. LOL
Thank you for the lovely review and I am very glad you enjoyed my Frodo and Merry arguement. I do think that all of the hobbits, as they grew up were bound to argue. They were all so different in personality and age that it just had to happen.
As to when Esmeralda will finally catch on, well, I'm certain that event is coming at some point.

Another adorable adventure for little Jingle Pants Took. I think if I had to babysit him I'd strip him down and put him in the tub to start with! *g*
Author's reply
LOL There's an idea. You may be right. Personally, I think Merry's idea about the rope would work. Babies aren't very good with knots. Thanks for reading!

ROTFL!!! Oh my gosh--I *LOVE* these Frodo-Merry-Baby Pippin tales! That little Pippin *is* a story stealer, thief of tarts, thief of hearts. :-) The scene where he runs away from Frodo and Merry crying "Nonononono!" had me rolling!
Merry is a heart-stealing, devious little imp, too, and Frodo the poor victim in all these wonderful yarns! I loved this most excellent story from beginning to end...or shall we have more "little Pippin/devious Merry/victim Frodo tales soon? I hope so! :-)

I am very glad that you enjoyed this one. You have been entertaining me with your latest story and so I owed you one or two or several. LOL
I simply have to write one of these in which Frodo knows what's coming. I am picking on poor Frodo far too much. Maybe I will think of something over the holiday. Thanks for this lovely review and for reading. Have a great Thanksgiving, PF!

“Bla!” Peregrin shouted and kicked his tiny feet in defiance. “Ogg gah!”
“Splendid,” Frodo sighed. “I’ve no idea what you said but I am certain that it wasn’t anything agreeable.”
“He probably called you stupid or something,” Merry reasoned.
ROTFL!!!
This is incredibly funny! I felt like Larner, constantly giggling :)

Grey Wonderer--HOW do you do this--constantly keep me giggling like this? Oh, how funny! Pippin, the tart thief! Heh!
Very aptly named story, this one.
Author's reply
So glad you enjoyed it. Knowing that I've made someone giggle always makes me smile. As to Pippin's tart theft, well, what hobbit child could resist a table full of tarts? Certainly not Peregrin Took. I was surprised when the story title turned up. That is usually one of the things I have the most trouble with. This time it not only turned up but I got a rhyme in the bargain! Thanks for reading!

LOL Frodo really needs to work on his babysitting skills. Really, he should have just put the tarts in a high cupboard where no one would be tempted by them. ;) That was too funny, wee!Pippin using Saradoc as a shield against his cousins. Merry is such a brat, no less wicked himself than he accuses Pippin of being, no wonder they grow up in each other's pockets. I loved that Frodo gave him a taste of his own medicine about the tart he ate.
Author's reply
If I were Frodo I think I would give up baby sitting altogether, especially when the sitting involves Pippin and Merry. LOL
I like to let Merry and Frodo do a bit of arguing from time to time. After all, Frodo was bound to lose his patience with darling Merry once in a while. Besides, it's just fun to let them go at it a bit.
Thanks for the review!

“How do you make him mind like that?” Frodo asked. “He won’t listen to anything that I tell him.”
“He isn’t minding me,” Merry said. “He just knows that I won’t pick him up. He’s thinking it all over. He’s plotting.”
*****
Frodo smiled and nodded. “Sounds to me as if he is playing.”
“Think whatever you like,” Merry said with a shrug. He gave Frodo the sort of pitying look that one might give to a simpleton.
*snicker* Poor Merry. Why doesn't anyone ever believe him? :D
Author's reply
You would think that Frodo would believe him by now. Merry knows far more about that 'wicked baby' than anyone else but no one ever listens. I was thinking that your dear 'Mellon' or one of her friends would make a better sitter for the 'wicked baby'. Someone should have gotten Pippin a dog! Then again, do dogs enjoy jam tarts? That 'wicked baby' might have corupted the dog too!
Thanks for reviewing and for reading!

*grin*
Oh GW! I've missed your howlers!! This is just delightful from start to finish.
Merry most certainly is s-h-r-e-w-d, LOL! Frodo is so taken with little Pip (you'd have thought he'd have learned after the pouch incident) but Merry really knows his little cousin, and his own protectiveness shows in the way he objects to Frodo talking baby-talk to Pippin.
And the chase was hilarious, it really was. Esmeralda is not going to believe anything bad at all of her darling little nephew.
And Saradoc is not taken in at all, is he? I'm reminded of the part in "Squirrels and Stolen Pies" where Merry worries about his father questioning Pippin--because of course Saradoc will get at the truth.
At least Frodo and Merry still got to go see the new foal!
Author's reply
My internet hasn't let me post much lately and it was a struggle to get this one posted last night. I am glad that you enjoyed it.
Merry is shrewd, isn't he? But as he said in another of these little fictions, "I know my baby!" and he does, doesn't he?
I could see Frodo and Merry running around the table while Pippin took a short-cut and walked under it to escape. I just love physical comedy.
I think Saradoc is on to all three of them. I dare say that he knows more than he acts upon. Still he might need that rope if he is to stay ahead of the 'wicked baby'.
Thanks for reading and I am glad that you enjoyed this one.

Heeehee! Good use of the nursery rhyme here. What a fun story! I do love Pippin's bells :)

Thanks! The nursery saved me this time. I didn't have to struggle to come up with a title. Funny how many stories the bells are now in, isn't it? Thanks for reviewing!

Hah. Am on my way to bed, one eye closed and one halfway so, but couldn't resist leaving one of my trademark reviews on one of your prologues.
Good to see another GW story. Or it *would* be, if I could just pry my eyes open.
Hoping for more success on the morrow.

Oh this is so much fun GW. NEVER underestimate a baby, especially a Took baby!
Author's reply
Exactly! Maybe next time, you can come over and watch Pippin and give poor Frodo a break. I think Frodo is too easily fooled by the 'wicked baby.' Thanks for the lovely review!
