Oh, now that's scary and sad - Frodo responding to the loss of even the chain and more the Ring to the pain he felt at his parents' deaths. Some vital part of himself torn away each time so much as the Ring sunk its claws into him. If that doesn't cause the heart to ache if not break altogether. Very well done, my dear! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you! It made my heart break as I wrote it. *tear* So sad. God bless, Ellie

shirebound · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 4

Yes, it's a slow transition for Frodo from death to life, between comfort and love and difficult memories.

Larner · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 4

Aha--the first bout of the memories, and brought about by the chain. I'd not given much thought to it, once Frodo pulled the Ring from it--I'd always thought of it dropped to the ground, forgotten, once he claimed the Ring for his own, and it being melted as the magma rose that high. But to think of it caught in his clothing....

Author's reply

Yeah, the thought just hit me one day... what did happen to the chain? The professer makes no mention of it, so I thought... why not? Thanks for reviewing! God bless, Ellie

Elemmírë · 30 January 2007 · Chapter 4

I liked this chapter especially. I enjoyed how you juxtaposed Frodo's peaceful evening of falling asleep underneath the calming stars, with the worrisome morning of finding the bloodied chain and the sudden awareness of the Ring being forever gone. There is a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, a familiar sense that I instantly recall as the feeling I felt when I realized my parents were gone, never to return. I really LOVED Aragorn carrying Frodo to bed! I'm always a sucker for stories where a sleepy Frodo gets tucked into bed by someone be it Bilbo, Aragorn, Gandalf, etc. Can hardly wait to see where you go with this one, Elanor! ~Elemmírë~

Author's reply

I'm glad you enjoyed it! *grins* That's one of my favorite things too! Thanks for reviewing! God bless, Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 29 January 2007 · Chapter 4

Lovely, of course! I love how you dealt with the chain. I always wondered about that. Yes, seeing that chain carried off would bring home the realisation that the Ring was truly gone, and it might well disturb Frodo that it wasn't a good feeling. I've gotten your e-mails, just soooo busy with school and then with homework! *groans* But I haven't forgotten you, mellon nin, I promise! :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Oh, I'm glad you liked it! I thought it was interesting. A bit superfluous really, but interesting. I just wonder where my Muse is going to take this... *looks a little nervous* WOw, I'm not the only one who wondered! God bless, Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 23 December 2006 · Chapter 3

I love how you do this, Ellie--write about the parts from the book, but take time to put in a little more detail than Tolkien gave us. I hope I can master it as well as you have when I get a little further on in "Renewal". More, more, please! :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I'm glad you're liking it! (these reviews are making me blush like Sam and I'm not sure what to say to them! *blushes*) Oh, I can't wait for more of "Renewal" I just read what I've missed so far, and I'm loving it so much! I'll try to get more out as soon as possible! I've got a few ideas that I think my muse is going to cooperate with, but I'm not sure yet. Merry Christmas and God bless! Ellie

lotrgirl1415 · 23 December 2006 · Chapter 3

I have always wondered if Frodo ever really felt uncomfortable during the lay “Frodo of the Nine Fingers and the Ring of Doom.” I mean I were him it would of irked me to the max. Plus he seems so shy already in this fic, and all these thing building up one on top of the other. (The waking up after a long hard journey, the orc clothes, the lay, and the swords bit) I would think that that would eventually lead to mental distress in a person (or in this case, hobbit). I mean he still needs to figure himself out and put him self back together, after his and Sam’s journey, and the events of that journey. I REALLY enjoy you are touching this subject, and I love (lovelovelove) your Frodo POV! I know this is my 3rd time saying so but you are so good at it. This is the Frodo I usually envision at this point in the trilogy. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you. Lots of love No galu govad gen Looking forward to the next update ---Katie xoxoxoxo

Author's reply

yeah, I would have been really uncomfortable, too. I'm so glad you are enjoying this! I'm having such fun writing it and getting to go back and reread RoTK over and over and over again. I'm so glad you like the Frodo POV (again! *grins*) It's my favorite way to write, since I've found Frodo thinks alot like me, so it's easier for me to write it that way. God bless and merry Christmas! Ellie

harrowcat · 23 December 2006 · Chapter 3

Oh this is great seeing this from Frodo's POV. Tolkien said that the one complaint about his book that he agreed with was that it wasn't long enough. I am so glad that you are helping to remedy that. Oh, and I agree about the stars being annoying. Most of us can recognise the Prof's bits or can go back to the book if we want to check!

Author's reply

*blushes* Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying this! Yeah, I figured most of you are about as obsessed as I am, and know when it's something Tolkien wrote. Lol! Antane said most people just say that some of the quotes are from such and such a chapter, so I decided to do that instead. God bless and Merry Christmas!! Ellie

Larner · 23 December 2006 · Chapter 3

One of Tolkien's inconsistencies is that he describes Frodo as being naked under Sam's cloak, and yet he describes the orc rags. I can imagine he'd want those physical signs of that time gone.

Author's reply

Weird, I never noticed that... *runs to read Rotk again* I found this whole secion so fascinating! Yeah, I'd think he wouldn't want to see them ever again. Thanks for reviewing! God bless, Ellie

shirebound · 23 December 2006 · Chapter 3

It's lovely to see an update. I like how you describe Frodo's relief at being in soft, clean clothing again. (You might want to correct Westeron to 'Westron'.)

Author's reply

I'm glad you liked it! Ah yes, my spelling... I'm usually good at spelling... english that is. When it's new words or things in Elvish or fantasy names like that, I can't spell. *goes to change* God bless and Merry Christmas! Ellie

lotrgirl1415 · 16 December 2006 · Chapter 2

YAY!!!I <3 updates! Especially this one! Poor Frodo I've always had a special spot for Frodo in my heart since I was 7, and I read the LOTR trilogy with my dad, and have always wished to comfort him and Samwise after all they've been through especially. I love the way you capture them both. I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter. & Still love the Frodo POV. Lots of love No galu govad gen Looking forward to the next update ---Katie xoxoxoxo

Author's reply

I'm so glad you're liking this! Frodo is my favorite too (if you couldn't tell all ready *grins*) I do the same POV in "The Latter Days" which I started before this story, but it's supposed to be the sequal to this one. Thank you so much for reviewing! I will update as soon as I can! God bless and Merry Christmas! Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 16 December 2006 · Chapter 2

Sorry about that, I don't know what happened. I was going to say I can understand Frodo's dread of those clothes and the nightmarish quality they would have for him. *hugs Frodo and Sam* And I can't wait for them to meet the king! Won't they be surprised! :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I'm so glad you like it!!! *grins* That's the next chapter! I don't have it quite finished, but it will be up soon! *bounces* That's my favorite part! God bless and Merry Christmas! Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 16 December 2006 · Chapter 2

I love it, I love it! The angst mingled sweetly with the comfort, the teasing. But poor Frodo, I can understand his dread of those clothes, not just because they were Orc gear

Antane · 16 December 2006 · Chapter 2

No, I don't think the Gaffer or anyone else would understand about Sam bossing his master around, but Frodo does and that's all that's important. Sam ever knows what is best for his master-brother-child. You've already shown in Latter Days that he has no qualms about showing in public how much he treasures his dearest. The rest of them are just going to have to adjust. :) But it would be horrible to have to wear those rags again. Ick. Namarie, God bless, Antane

Author's reply

*grins* Yep, the world will have to figure out how to handle them. They are much different than when they left. I read that part in ROTK and I was very surprised that they had to wear those clothes again! I started wondering how Frodo would feel about that, and well...this chapter came out of it! Merry Christmas mellon nin! God bless, Ellie

Arwen of Lorien · 15 December 2006 · Chapter 2

Ohh! Those Gondorians really shoulda thought to leave our poor hobbits some better clothes!! *Is revengeful* lol Jk, Great new chap! I love Sam in this chapter..*No sir, it ain't!!* Teehee! God bless ~Arwen

Author's reply

Yeah, I know, they've got that whole giant city and they can't leave a hobbit something nice to wear! *grins at revengeful elf* OH, I'm so glad you liked it!! God bless, and Merry Christmas, mellon nin! Ellie

harrowcat · 15 December 2006 · Chapter 2

This is coming on nicely Elanor. The bond between Sam and Frodo has changed and they both recognise it but it is Frodo that is able to look further ahead. Btw - small niggle - the door on a tent is often called a flap and it is very hard to knock on. But it is only a very small niggle. *g*

Author's reply

*blushes again* *looks down at Larner's review* Erm, yeah, I forgot that. *rushes off to change it* Glad you liked it anyhow! God bless, Ellie

Larner · 14 December 2006 · Chapter 2

Okay--they have a door to the tent to knock upon? Now, that is one small glitch in an otherwise lovely story. I'm always glad when they awaken and each realizes the other is still alive.

Author's reply

*blushes* I am so very absentminded sometimes! I forgot it was a tent!!! *rolls eyes and laughs at self* When I have a moment, I shall go fix that... I'm glad you liked it otherwise! God bless, Ellie

shirebound · 14 December 2006 · Chapter 2

“I’m just so happy to see you smile again. I didn’t think I’d ever see that again.” I am my own once more. Eeee, how healing and wonderful this is!

Author's reply

Thank you very much! I'm glad you liked it! God bless, Ellie

Antane · 9 December 2006 · Chapter 1

"It won’t be much longer, he doesn’t like being too far behind you." No, not far at all and so it should be. This is wonderful to see another story starting that I hope will be awash in hobbity love like The Latter Days. You are off to good start with Sam taking Frodo's hand. I also like that Frodo is aware he grieved Aragorn by fighting the healer-king's efforts to bring him back. That was interesting. It was a cute quote from ROTK that you put in there. Too bad that teasing joy couldn't have lasted. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you! Yes, there is plenty of hobbity love coming up (just the way we like it!) I'm so glad you liked this scene! Glad you liked the quote too. Do you think they are working? I'm not sure if I have too many quotes in there, but that's the only way I could think of doing it. Thanks for reviewing! GOd bless, Ellie

Larner · 6 December 2006 · Chapter 1

Yes, the realization he is alive as he wakens must be almost a shock.

Author's reply

yes, I've always thought so, and I've read a few other fics that played it that way, so between that, the scene just kind of came out like that. Thanks for reviewing! God bless, Ellie

Arwen of Lorien · 6 December 2006 · Chapter 1

Yeah! *Is happy* I am glad to be getting back to reading your stories on SOA! Things have been very busy around Lorien. But know I can read more, and I am very glad! I just finished reading Phantom of the Opera, it was good! As was this story, my dear hobbit! I had once made a scribbling of this same scene, though it didn't quite work out. But yours was wonderful! Hobbit happiness is so contagious! *Goes of bounceing to read next story* God bless ~Arwen

Author's reply

Hello! I do hope things get less busy in Lorien. Right now the Shire isn't that busy, and I miss seeing you and Goldie around all the time! Oh, I have got to finish that book soon. Probably after I finish responding to all these lovely reviews! I'm so glad you liked this! I'm sure your scene wasn't that bad. *hinting--can I read it???* Talk to you later, Mellon nin! God bless, Ellie

Queen Galadriel · 6 December 2006 · Chapter 1

Oh, I like this beginning! Wow, you've undertaken a task, Ellie! But I know it will be great. I really love the opening and that Aragorn was there with Frodo when he woke. :) God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Lol! I seem to get myself into these predicaments alot, don't I? And I'm not even done with my other long story yet! *is scared* I'm glad you liked it, mellon nin! I've always wanted Aragorn to be there when he awoke. God bless, Ellie

lotrgirl1415 · 6 December 2006 · Chapter 1

Oh YAY! I love Ithilien stories such as this. Poor Aragorn he seems just a bit at a lost of just what to do at his emotions. And I'd of bet,if Frodo wouldn't of gotten hurt by doing so, he would of hugged and squeezed him till he was as thin as paper...lol AWWWW but it's so sweet, I love all the relationships with the fellowship, they are so heartwarming. Poor Frodo, it's a good thing that death wasn't the only way out *whew*. BTW are you going to go into detail about events between the "Eagles", and the "Waking up in Ithilien" bit? I really loved this first chapter. Oh!I love that it is told in Frodo's POV. update again real soon. lots of love No galu govad gen ---Katie

Author's reply

Wow, thanks for your enthusiasm, Katie! I've been dying to write an Ithilien scene for a while. I really enjoyed it. I'm so glad you liked it! I will be updating as soon as I get the next chapter typed! I think I will go into a little detail about that, but I'm not sure yet how, and I'm not sure yet what. Once I get that figured out, I'll be sure to add some in for you and Antane. God bless, Ellie
