Hello Gwynnyd,
that was brilliant! Loved it - especially the end:
'Spider webs are sticky.'
Hahaha!
Lovely snapshot of the family pre-war!

· Chapter 12: Day 12 - my choice? (Aragorn, Faramir)
Gwynnyd,
Until your kind response to my review of Circumstantial Heroes, I had not realized you were the author of Bare Feet and Beer. I love that story so much I have that story linked to favorites and copied in two types of electronic files plus print.
I had not read this series of Yule Challenges and enjoyed them all.
My Choice is exactly they type of story I enjoy - those early days were full of choices/understandings/misunderstandings for everyone. The war and angst stories fulfill a purpose, but a life is so much more. The great new day when the King returned, changed everything.
Again, thank you so very much. I am not a writer, but I am a librarian. Writing is hard work! It is deeply appreciated by those of us who love stories.

· Chapter 12: Day 12 - my choice? (Aragorn, Faramir)
It must have been like being invited to meet the Knights of the Round Table and sit down with King Arthur. Lucky Faramir - legends coming true. (But a bit intimidating having to arrange the party!)
I enjoyed all of these - delicious stuff - but I'm so behind in reviewing ...

· Chapter 12: Day 12 - my choice? (Aragorn, Faramir)
I had Aragorn dipping into Ondoher's bridegift to his daughter Firiel to finance his wedding feasts. But, what a way to let his Steward know there WILL be a queen over Gondor and Arnor. Hee!

· Chapter 11: Day Eleven - two hobbits pranking Gandalf (Merry, Pippin)
One way to deal with boredom, I suppose, with Pippin and Merry, making apple pie beds throughout Imladris. Now, how does an Istar respond to such provocation?

Best leave the small birds alone when they protect their nests from all intruders. The smallest creatures can be the fiercest.

· Chapter 7: Day Seven - Éomer and Thiri (those two and Imrahil)
No, Lothiriel, not THAT King after all. And she has already come to love a man with golden hair and blue eyes and an honest, faithful, and capable heart and mind. So right.

Alas, Faramir, his racial memory of the foundering of Numenor is already there? Poor child!

What a wonderful and so appropriate a Dwarf birth tradition! And Gimli has his first axe from his birth, eh? Wonderful! Lovely!

Even at midwinter evil seeks to assault the one she's come to love?
And the flower has been damaged. Are the Mettare gifts within this carved box, or in a storeroom of some kind.

Aha--then he had good reason to be perched up there in that tree. And he performed well indeed, seeing the changed patterns.

· Chapter 12: Day 12 - my choice? (Aragorn, Faramir)
Sheesh, poor Faramir. Aragorn gets the crown, the Elf-princess, the festivities, and Faramir gets the chore of trying to keep the realm solvent. Let's hope that Arwen comes with some sort of dowry.
At least Aragorn agrees to go on "progress"; which will give others, rather than the treasury of Gondor, the expense of housing and feeding him and his 'family' (let's see, the Lord and Lady of the Galadhrim, Elrond of Rivendell, various and sundry Elf-lords and other Elves, two Balrog-slayers if you count Gandalf, the new Queen, a Dwarf, and four Hobbits who could eat anyone out of house and home) in high style.
Entertaining vignette. I like Aragorn's touch of sheepishness at the end; he's smart enough to know he's costing his kingdom money as well as making Faramir uncomfortable with the duty of mentioning it.

· Chapter 6: Day Six - Legolas sailing (Legolas, Gimli, Amrothos)
A poignant reminder of Legolas' sea-longing and Gimli's friendship. It must have been hard for Legolas to visit the sea, feeling as he did the call to set sail for good upon it.

· Chapter 5: Day Five - Fëanor's Love! (Finwë, Miriel, Fëanor)
A fascinating glimpse into Feanor's first moments, and the start of serious dysfunction in Finwe's family. How sad that already Miriel can't cope with motherhood, and Finwe is taking the baby and turning away from her, a harbinger of what he will do by necessity later. And a wonderful, fitting ending!
