nancylea57 · 16 May 2014 · Chapter 15: Part 15

Is it my imagination, or are chapters 14 & 15 the same?

Author's reply

Apparently it is not your imagination. I'm trying to recall if I had noticed that before, because no one else seemed to notice. I *think* I remember that the double posting was an accident, but because I had comments on both I did not delete one.

harrowcat · 12 October 2012 · Chapter 5: Part 5

Hi Dreamflower I've been reading this again but on the other site but had to come back to catch this missing chapter and the final one or two. Just as great the umpteenth time around!

Mîdhaer · 23 January 2011 · Chapter 8: Part 8

I just thought of another way the Witch King could die. The prophecy states 'by the hand of a man' not 'hands of a man'. A man could snap his neck with two hands. And who would challenge Wiki to hand-to-hand combat, anyway? He's far more likely to die by the sword of a man. If you take the prophecy extremely literally, then the only way he definitely couldn't be killed is by a single adult male human who attempts to kill him with just one hand. But then again I'm probably taking this way to literally.

Author's reply

LOLOLOL! It just goes to show that the W-k was very foolish in using that prophecy as a measure of his "invulnerability"! But of course, I think that was the point of the whole situation: his belief that no one could slay him when that was not at all what the prophecy said!

nancylea57 · 10 December 2008 · Chapter 3: Part 3

sorry to be a nit-pick BUT: PREVIOUSLY: Frodo, Merry and Pippin arrived in Bree, in the company of the Rangers, Mellor and Eradan. and seven or so paragraphes later mellor and eradan wanderninto camp for the first time....previously?

Author's reply

Ack! You are the first to notice that! It is a holdover from where it was posted at Marigold's Challenges--the chapters were divided up somewhat differently there, due to some length problems with the posting. I thought I had fixed most of those before I put the story here!

Agape4Gondor · 26 November 2008 · Chapter 3: Part 3

I shivered to think them spending the night in THAT room - I suppose the sheets and the bedding were removed and new, unstabbed ones put in their place......

Author's reply

Well, yes. I think Butterbur had the entire set of rooms completely redone after *that* episode! I figured staying there with no repercussions would be a good way to show how far Frodo and the others have come in their healing!

Agape4Gondor · 26 November 2008 · Chapter 1: Part 1

A very good beginning!

Author's reply

Thank you dear!

harrowcat · 25 August 2008 · Chapter 15: Part 15

A wonderful wedding!

Antane · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 15: Part 15

How wonderful for Merry and Frodo to be together on this day and cute that Merry had planned along to have Pippin sign as witness. Will have to look at that certificate when I have more time - looks lovely - a beautiful, loving gift to a beloved brother-in-heart. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you dear! I do think that Merry would have felt it just wouldn't be right not to have Pippin's name on there!

Antane · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

If it only could have been this way! Very glad indeed. But still he was there, in heart and I'm sure knew everything, even if he couldn't actually see it. Cute that he knows of his new nieces and nephews even before Rose does. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Antane · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 99999: Notes on Ithildin's translation in Part 7

A lovely quote and very fitting for our grace-filled one! :) Namarie, God bless, Antane

Author's reply

And didn't Ithildin do a wonderful job?

Larner · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 99999: Notes on Ithildin's translation in Part 7

Perfect. Thank you for this, too.

Author's reply

Well, Ithildin did such meticulous work on that translation, and I felt that it needed to be acknowledged. I have great awe for those who have taught themselves JRRT's beautiful languages, and it was so kind of her to share her expertise!

Larner · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

Ah, what a delight, to have Frodo coming home just in time to be there for Rose's pregnancy with Frodo-lad. What a joy for all four! Home indeed.

Author's reply

Yes, well I looked at the timing of things, and I realized that it would have to be that way! And of course, it gave Frodo the perfect excuse to leave Sam at home with Rose, LOL!

Larner · 20 August 2008 · Chapter 15: Part 15

What a wonderful thing to waken to this morning! A most marvelous wedding indeed! Bless you for it! And bless to happily married Hobbits, blessed to have all they love best, save only King and Queen, at their wedding!

Author's reply

If you had not written that review for the MEFAs, I would never have known that I had a chapter missing! Imagine my surprise when I went to check on something and discovered that the chapter was "hidden"! I would have loved to have the King and Queen there, but alas, you can only take an AU so far without going totally Over-The-Top.

Queen Galadriel · 24 January 2008 · Chapter 99999: Notes on Ithildin's translation in Part 7

*sighs happily* Ah, now I've *really* had my Hobbity fix today. I can't put into words how nice that is in the wilderness of the long, dull school year, especially right after semester exams! :) I thought I had finished this, but I guess I lost my place and didn't, so I just reread most of it and then finished up. Oh, what a glorious wedding for Merry and Estelle! *I* even cried a little, LOL! And that song of Pippin's is absolutely lovely and now has a rolicking, very Hobbitlike tune running around and around in my head...*thinks of the piano* :) I love the end, that Rose figured Frodo and Legolas out! *grins* But of course she would, being a clever Hobbitess...and having Frodo and Sam as her "lads". :) Thank you for a most excellent read, and what a lovely long treat to see so much of your fantastic AU! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I just realized I had never answered this lovely review, dear! My apologies! I hope that the rest of your school year was less dull! Someday, I'd love to hear the hobbity tune you came up with for Pip's song! Rose is a sharp one. In my story "The Taste of Strawberries" she realizes that Mr. Frodo knows she's expecting Elanor beforehand, so now she's alert to those sly little smiles!

PIppinfan1988 · 19 August 2007 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

Yes! That one, lol. *sigh* That is another sweet and wonderful tale with Merry and Estella. Gosh -- was it that long ago -- Challenge 11? And I'll take the opportunity here that my swiss-cheese memory let slip yesterday, but I saw Merry and Estella's wedding contract on LJ and it's just beautiful!! The green and gold knotwork is exquisite, as is the little Shire portrait in the upper left corner. I loved every single detail about it!

Author's reply

I can't believe I did not answer this! And it's been a whole year!!! I am so pleased that you loved the document. I had a blast with it!

Antane · 18 August 2007 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

Home - yes! And he'll see all his nieces and nephews grow up and everything! *spins around in celebration* Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Yes, he certainly will!

Antane · 18 August 2007 · Chapter 14: Part 14

How marvelous that Frodo was there to celebrate with his Merry! Love the marriage document too. Appreciate all the work - and love - that you put into it! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Yes, marvelous for both Frodo *and* Merry! I had so much fun doing that. Hobbit weddings are a delight to have, and I love to do their "marriage lines" LOL!

PIppinfan1988 · 18 August 2007 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

NO!!! **Gasps** This isn't the END, is it??? I was *so* into this most wonderful universe you created! There *must* be more to tell. Doesn't Frodo develop a friendship with a spinster or (heaven forbid) get married?? Doesn't he ever have little ones of his own? LOL, I mean, if you're going AU with Frodo, may as well go all the way with it. :-) You have a marvelous, fantastic way of spinning a brilliant story! You know, the "cherry" on top of the Ice-cream Sundae would have been if you had added a link to that glorious story of Merry and Estella's "morning after" you wrote some time ago. :-) Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful Post-Quest Travellers. I really enjoyed reading every single tale.

Author's reply

Well, it *is* the end of *this* story! But there are several "Eucatastrophe" stories in the Alternate Universe section of my chronology--including the first one, which actually takes place a few years later than this. In point of fact, all of them take place later than this one except the Galadriel drabble in "Alphabet". No, my Frodo never weds, but he is quite happy to be "Uncle Frodo" to his friend's children, as you might see in some of the other "Eucatastrophe" stories. You mean this one? "Wedding Night" http://www.storiesofarda.com/chapterview.asp?sid=3043&cid=11995

PIppinfan1988 · 18 August 2007 · Chapter 14: Part 14

I can't think of a more perfect wedding for Merry and Estella! I have so enjoyed this; sitting here sippin a hot cup of tea, reading about my most favourite Brandybuck get ready for his wedding. I wholly enjoyed the ENTIRE wedding -- I rather enjoyed myself! :-) Merry needed no prompting, he pulled Estella close to him, and kissed her thoroughly, to the loud cheers of all the guests. Frodo heard Merimac chuckled. “He’s welcoming her into the family in proper Brandybuck fashion!” LOL, that was too cute!

Author's reply

I'm so very glad you enjoyed the wedding! I had so much fun with it! Did you get to look at the Wedding Contract? I just thought that Merry, once he'd overcome the pre-wedding jitters, would be very confident in showing his love for Estella for all to see!

Hai Took · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

Oh, I was able to get the last couple of chapters in this afternoon :) You really have quite a talent for detail. I can always see things so clearly when you write them, I loved how you described the wedding and Estella, the marriage lines, everything! It is lovely that Frodo got to be there and Gandalf, that they could see Merry happy and everything would have made things better for everyone else as well! I loved the epilogue with Rose and Frodo. I like that Rose remembered that Frodo had predicted a boy next. Wonderful! What a happy ending to such a neat story! Thank you!

Author's reply

Why, thank you! I always worry that I put in *too much* detail, so it's nice to know when I've got it right! And I'm glad you liked the marriage lines--I had so much fun doing those!! This AU is a lot of fun for the people who live in it, I think! And I'm so glad you liked the epilogue as well--Rose is a very sharp lass, I do think!

Hai Took · 17 August 2007 · Chapter 13: Part 13

I did like how Fredegar stood up to his mother for the sake of Estella even if it didn't do much good :) Wow! I really like your Eglantine and how she is so good and understanding toward Sam and Rose, of course she was the one who made sure that Sam would be honored on Frodo's return in your other story...I don't remmeber the title though. Anyway, you write here really well. I'm glad that everyone arrived home in time. I thought for a moment you were going to make it a really close call ;) I'm glad to see Legolas and Gimli accepted to nicely with the hobbits, I guess they would be favorites now. I particularly liked this bit, Frodo I suppose wouldn't want to share :) "Frodo had missed them a good deal while he was gone, and he took possession of little Elanor, only reluctantly relinquishing her to Gimli after several heavy-handed hints." Frodo and Bilbo's gift seemed to be a hit and I really enjoyed your description of the gifts from the Outlanders! They sound just beautiful! Well I'm glad Gandalf is here it is almost all of the Fellowship and I'm sure it will be a lovely time! Thank you for this most wonderful story!

Author's reply

Freddy's a good brother, and very fond of his sister. He loves his mother as well, but he often knows when she's being a bit carried away with things! Eglantine has a good deal of respect for Sam, because of what Pippin has told her, but also I think, she has always liked him as well, just from observing his growing up as Frodo's gardener when she visited, and seeing how he interacted with the others. She would know that Sam deserved every bit of his honor, and Rose along with him. I did think at one point of having it be a very close call, but I wanted Merry to be there to sit for the gifts, and receive his clock. And of course, each chapter was somewhat driven by the Challenge elements I was given. Legolas and Gimli enjoy being surrounded by hobbits most of the time, I think. Yes, Uncle Frodo is certainly very fond of little Elanor, isn't he? And I'm glad you liked the gifts--it's always so much fun to give gifts to hobbits!!

Larner · 16 August 2007 · Chapter 99999: Notes on Ithildin's translation in Part 7

And thanks for this.

Author's reply

You are *very* welcome!

Larner · 16 August 2007 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

How I wish he could have come home like this, healed and joyful. And to see Merry married must have been so joyful! Thanks.

Author's reply

It would have been delightful for us no doubt, and for him as well. I think that seeing Merry wed would have been one of the dearest memories of his life.

Baggins Babe · 16 August 2007 · Chapter 14: Part 14

How wonderful that Frodo was able to be there on Merry's wedding day - at least in your AU (and mine). I always think that must have been a most difficult day for Merry, who must have really missed his cousin. The document sounds so beautiful I must have a look. So frodo knows that Rose is to have another child....... Delightful!

harrowcat · 16 August 2007 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

Life was good, and only getting better. Home - yes! A lovely AU Dreamflower and a most satisfying ending. I have enjoyed every word of this.

Author's reply

I'm so glad you did enjoy it! It was a lot of fun to write: this universe always is.
