What a thrill Haleth to find another one of Haleth and Inglor's adventures, they are one of my favorite fanfiction pairings and I think you are a brilliant writer. :)

Thank-you Glory Bee Haleth

aelfwine · 24 July 2011 · Chapter 3: Epilogue

ok ,I give up . Who did the sword belong to?

Author's reply

The sword was originally known as Aranruth. It was Thingol's sword and then went on to become one of the great artifacts of Numenor. It was supposed to have been destroyed when Numenor sank and Ar-Pharazon's army was destroyed. Thanks for reviewing. Haleth

aelfwine · 24 July 2011 · Chapter 2: Aboard the Raptor

I'm still enjoying the interplay between these two. You are a very talented writer

Author's reply

Thank-you.

I'm surprised Inglor is interested in following haleth. Is it just his curiosity or does he somehow now feel responsable for her? In any event for a Noldorin elf he does not seem very quick on the uptake does he?

Author's reply

Haleth doesn't quite understand it herself, but there's no way she'd ever ask him directly. Inglor seems oblivious to all of Haleth's signals. The idea was that, as he's from a completely different culture, he doesn't pick up on many of the social cues that Haleth takes for granted. He just doesn't make the same assumptions that she does. It leads to a great deal of miscommunication (which I totally pump). There's also a bit of the standard male/female talking past each other. He does seem oddly resistant to learning. Or he might have clued in and now does it for his own reasons...whatever they might be. Thanks for reviewing and making me think. Haleth

A wonderful glimpse into their earlier days together.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Medea.

i like the small interactioon between rhem, it shows how close they are. they have to get together! post another soon, please!

Author's reply

Thank-you, silvereyes. There is one more story featuring these two characters in the works. It's a prequel. I just have to get myself together and polish it. Thanks again. Haleth

Visp · 17 June 2007 · Chapter 3: Epilogue

I didn't know that there was a sequel up. I look forward to reading it.

Author's reply

Thanks, Visp I hope you found the story enjoyable. Haleth

I do love Inglor and Haleth's relationship. Even though it must be very frustrating to both of them sometimes. And they're more than the M-e Raiders of the Lost Ark - sending special artefacts off to the uttermost West for safe keeping. But I agree with Haleth that some happy songs would make a pleasant break - for both of them!

Author's reply

Thank-you, Bodkin. Haleth certainly finds the relationship frustrating. Inglor likely does, too, although it's difficult to tell. I'd imagine the elves have happy songs. We just hear about the sad ones because they tend to make better stories. Thanks again. Haleth

MMB · 25 May 2007 · Chapter 3: Epilogue

That was delightful! I hope you have more of the adventures of Haleth and Inglor up your sleeve!

Author's reply

Thank-you, MMB, I'm glad you enjoyed the story. There's at least one more tale in the works. Thanks again. Haleth

perelleth · 24 March 2007 · Chapter 2: Aboard the Raptor

I apologize for the delay, but still have not internet connection at home, and still quite short of time. I msut say that I enjoyed this thoroughly. YOu write action and adventure with that dry, sparse economy of words that every sentence is charged with visual humour and double and triple meanings. HAleth and INglor are at their best here, and I really loved the historical background of CAstamir's heir thrown in for canon accuracy. NOw you have me wondering about the blade that Haleth was wielding? Aranruth against...?

Author's reply

You apologize for the delay? I look at the calendar and blush. It's Aranruth versus Caranthir's sword. I'm going on the premise that the two swords would 'remember' each other from the second Kinslaying. It's a bit far fetched, I'll admit. Sorry! There's probably a very brief story of how she found it and how she kept it hidden from Inglor for all those miles.

Bodkin · 21 March 2007 · Chapter 2: Aboard the Raptor

I suspect that, if Haleth and Inglor every get their relationship sorted out - in any direction - they might become a whole lot less fun for the spectator. Poor Inglor - Haleth really didn't want him there ... right up to the point when she did. I'm impressed by her blade skills - but then, she's had a long time to learn to be good. And much reason, too. And they have the sword. Question is, can they keep it? Since, apparently, they don't have a convenient boat, Haleth is hurt and they are encumbered by too much metal. I do love Haleth and Inglor! And the situations in which they find themselves.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Bodkin. I think you're absolutely right in your assessment of Inglor and Haleth's relationship. Many successful tv shows were based on unresolved tension between two characters and they always went downhill as soon as the tension was resolved. It probably wouldn't be good for Middle-earth to set Haleth lose with Aranruth. Even if she didn't keep hold of it, someone would be bound to ask a lot of questions about how the sword of Numenor, which should have been either at the bottom of the ocean or under a mountain in Valinor, managed to turn up in Harad. Thanks again!

Selene Aduial · 20 March 2007 · Chapter 2: Aboard the Raptor

It's a good thing Inglor was able to climb aboard after Haleth trowing the rope twice, or she would be dead. She may think it is all Inglor's fault that things go amiss since he showed up, but I think she's very capable of getting in to trouble like this all by herself.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Selene Aduial. You're right. Haleth has an unerring ability to land herself in trouble. Like so many other people, it must easier for her to blame Inglor than it is to blame herself. Thank-you for reviewing! Haleth

silvereyes · 17 March 2007 · Chapter 1: The Countryside of Umbar

i think inglor should slowly but surely -and i think he's already half way there- fall in love with Haleth. SHE is holding him here, making him not want to go back into the west. I want to see more interaction between them that isn't arguing but some moments so that later if he does leave her then she can remember them- are light, carefree and special.

Author's reply

Thank-you for reviewing, silvereyes. Inglor doesn't really show his emotions in ways that Haleth can understand. I really like your suggestion that the two characters interact in a friendly way. It will be a challenge: Haleth is very crusty and Inglor seems to have flunked Communicating for Mortal Women 101, but I'll see what I can do. You've given me something to think about. :) Thank-you again. Haleth

Bodkin · 12 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Countryside of Umbar

Oh wonderful. More fun with Haleth and Inglor. I'm not entirely sure that he is a confused by her as she is with him - but I wouldn't be surprised. Haleth is most definitely not an ordinary woman. She's a woman with very special boots - boots that remind me of Trigger's broom. (I don't know if you are acquainted with Only Fools and Horses. Apparently the clip can be seen here - http://uktv.co.uk/index.cfm/uktv/Gold.stepbystep/aid/579394) I am not moved to like the people amongst whom they are travelling. Not at all. And I, too, wonder where Haleth got her sword.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Bodkin. Thanks for the link! It was absolutely hilarious. Yes, Haleth's boots are exactly like Trigger's broom. Proudly and lovingly preserved in the face of all reason and common sense. It's hard to say who is more confusing for whom. I don't think I'd lay bets on it. Tolkien doesn't really tell us much about the Corsairs. It just seems the sort of behavior sadly common to all despots no matter twhere they are or when they live(d). Thank-you again. Haleth

Selene Aduial · 11 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Countryside of Umbar

Yeay! Another story about Inglor and Haleth. Great start here, they are both still so much a mystery, I'm hoping we will learn more of Haleth's and Inglor's past. And more about that silver ring of Haleth and now that sword. This sure sounds like an other intriguing story.

Author's reply

Thank-you, Selene. I'm very glad you're happy to see another story. I'm sorry to say but this one is set before the Palantir story so the silver ring won't be making an appearance. Thanks again. Haleth

perelleth · 8 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Countryside of Umbar

Wow, we are back in time! it is wonderful to go back to their tense relationship and all those misunderstandings. He knew by now that asking about its origins and how she had come into possession of it would be of no use, especially given Haleth's foul mood. He would have to search for fragments of information. It is amusing, for this is what HAleth thinks as well about him on occasion. And I loved the detail about her boots. I seem to remember you mentionning somethng about her boots being special to her in one chapter of the Palantir... And I really liked the opening. PErfectly humorous while being a wonderful description. Welcome back!

Author's reply

Thank-you, perelleth. Each character seems to have their own defense mechanism to avoid having to explain too much to the other. Inglor seems to not understand certain questions. He seems to know Haleth, at some level, will find it too much effort, too confusing and possibly too revealing to explain herself fully to him. Haleth makes good use of her temper to deflect unwanted questions. Yes, the boots are very special, at least to her. I'm impressed you remembered that tiny detail from Palantir. Thank-you again. Haleth

MMB · 8 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Countryside of Umbar

Oh goodie! I'm so glad we get to see more of Inglor and Haleth - and on another adventure to retrieve artifacts again, I see. I'm hoping that this is a sequel and we will be revisiting some of the loose threads left in Pitfalls, like that silver ring. And it looks as if we might get a little more info about Haleth and how or why she possesses a fine pair of boots and now an Elven sword. She's almost as much of a mystery as is Inglor! You have a very good introduction to the next romping good adventure. Haleth has lost none of her thorns, and Inglor is still somewhere between slightly bemused and extremely capable. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store for them.

Author's reply

Thank-you, MMB. I'm sorry to say this story takes place before Pitfalls rather than after. Haleth seems perpetually grumpy. Inglor really does find her confusing. Their cultures are extremely different and this leads to a great deal of miscommunication and frustration. I hope you continue to find the story enjoyable. Haleth

Elflingimp · 8 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Countryside of Umbar

I am glad to see a new story started with these two characters, I don't know how you manage it but their personalities are so well done they are almost real to me. I cannot wait to see how this unfolds,I know you won't tell me but why does he follow her around? Will you ever uncover this mystery? I hope so but not now as that would kinda take the fun out of things, will be waiting for more adventures and to see Inglor saving Haleths butt again, your faithful reader The Imp

Author's reply

Thank-you, Elflingimp, that's very high praise. Why does he follow her around? He's got several reasons, some of them good, some of them not so good. There are probably days where he wonders why he bothers. Thanks for the review. Haleth

vampfan30 · 8 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Countryside of Umbar

wahooo!!!! Another Inglor and Haleth story !!! I was beginning to go through withdrawls!! can't wait for more.......

Author's reply

Thanks, vampfan. I'll have to get someone to hold my nose forcibly to the grindstone so it's done properly.
