Again your stories rock my knee high socks! The twins ROCK! anyway...its really good, poor Glorfindel, having to deal with the evil cuteness of the twins. “A jewel …” “A pot of gold …” “That’s at the end of a rainbow, silly!” “Well, a golden coin then …” “Two golden coins – one each!” I love that part...so....right for the mood of the story 1000000000\10

Aha! The missing are found just as Glorfindel runs out of riddles. And love that the fish riddle was figured out by watching out the window! Heh!

paranoidangel · 15 May 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

And there I was thinking you'd come up with those riddles on your own! Although I got entirely distracted by that website before posting this review. I liked this story, it was sweet, and of course their parents were their heart's desire. I liked that they annoyed Erestor with their constant questions and it was Glorfindel who came up with a good way of distracting them.

elliska · 10 March 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

Oh that was absolutely wonderful! All the riddles keeping them busy until they finally lead to their heart's desire indeed. I loved it. “I hope so,” he agreed fervently. “I really do hope so.” Hehehehe! This was really great!

What better treasure than their parents getting home! And such a relief for Erestor and Glorfindel - who probably couldn't imagine managing to hand the twins back unharmed! I loved the way the twins seized the opportunity to head to the waterfall - after all, they were virtuously only doing as they had been told. And Glorfindel to the rescue - whilst they watch him setting the clues and sneak along behind him. (I expect they enjoyed seeing Glorfindel have fun!) Such sweet twins.

This was hilarious, Jay. But GLorfindel was wonderful to take it up to entertain the troublesome boys... in such a dedicatedway! He really took the time! I had to chuckle at the last part, when they do find their treasure, and GLrofindel agrees that they behaved! Lovely, lovely tale!

Kids always love a good treasure hunt, and elflings will be no different. I'm sure Erestor was glad that Glorfindel knew how to keep the twins occupied, before the drove him crazy with their questions. The twins did find their hearts desire in the end. *grin* Your twins are always adorable

Wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed the treasure hunt! Idril

*lol* Erestor wasn’t very understanding of little elflings longing for their parents, wasn’t he? And then to send them to the waterfall, knowing they’re not allowed near it ... *shakes head* Nice to see how the twins tried to follow this command and still as much as possible to obey the command not to go there. Though I am glad Glorfindel came to the rescue. He was much more sympathetic and thought of a wonderful way to distract them. I was rather impressed about the way they solved the riddles. And of course, Elrohir fluttering his eyelashes at the elleth in the sewing room ... *lol* Of course they were no trouble at all. What’s one pillow after all? And Erestor can’t tell their parents it was trouble that they longed for them. That is only good of them ;-)

Loved the treasure hunt, my dad used to do that for my mom, on their anniversary he would have her hunting all over, for her gift. The twins were wonderful, and Erestor and Glorfindel more so. Sending them to the waterfall, what was Erestor thinking.

Author's reply

Treasure hunts are fun, no matter how old the participants are! Poor Erestor wasn't thinking at all when he sent the twins to the waterfall - he just wanted to get them out from under his feet!

Redheredh · 25 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

Very enjoyable and amusing! Kids and 'easter egg' hunts are eternally fun to watch! A real chocolate-bunny of a story for Dot on her birthday. ;)

Treasure hunts are always fun. I sent my son on a hunt for buried pirate treasure once - he was thrilled to bits when he unearthed some bits of cheap jewellery! (And it turned out that he believed for a long time that the pirates had really left it!!)

vampfan30 · 25 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

what a cute story. I have had to do the same for my ever-inquisitive seven year old girl a time or three. besides, I always love a good story with Erestor in it ^__^.....

Author's reply

I've done the same for my own children when they were young! I enjoyed writing poor, frazzled Erestor here ...

meckinock · 25 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

Poor Erestor. He really is not cut out for this baby-sitting stuff. And Glorfindel: They were halfway to the waterfall when Glorfindel joined them. He was breathing hard. *snort* I wish I could have been a fly on the wall for the conversation that brought on his exertion :-) Very sweet. An ingenious way to keep two youngsters busy AND to hand them back as quickly as possible to their rightful guardians.

Author's reply

"Glorfindel? I just sent the twins to the waterfall. Go and get them back, please, before they fall in and drown themselves ..." Poor Erestor is right. He really can't cope with two lively elflings!

French Pony · 25 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

They sure are clever little kids, to get all the riddles just like that. Good for Glorfindel for thinking up the scav hunt for them. This is why he is a great leader of Elves.

Author's reply

I tend to write Glorfindel as an uncle/friend/confidant to the twins, so he knows only too well what will catch their attention. It worked, too ...

Dot · 25 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

I really enjoyed this! I think I smiled from start to finish :-) Poor Erestor seems completely exasperated by the two bored, persistent elflings. I laughed at them not quite getting the fact that it’s “today” all day long. Of course, it sounds like even Glorfindel has had his fair share of trying to keep them occupied. Still, a treasure hunt was quite clever and as guaranteed as anything could be to keep them busy and out of harm’s way. I love riddles but I’m not very good at them so I had great fun watching them solve them. I particularly liked the way they work together and each seems to enjoy it and be good at it. Even when they argue now and then they’re still both in this together. LOL at them stopping to eat some of the strawberries! That’s exactly what I’d have done too… The funniest part was Elrohir fluttering his eyelashes to find out what he needed to know while impatient Elladan just leapt right in to search through all the mending. Hilarious. It looks like Elrohir could teach his brother a thing or two about getting what he wants! I thought it was a nice touch too how so much of the mending is theirs. It gives a good glimpse of how, um, active they are. But Elladan makes a pretty good detective. Glorfindel probably didn’t count on being spotted! Ok, I did guess that last one was a bridge! And I was hoping it was their parents that they’d find. I bet Erestor will be glad ;-) “They were no trouble at all,” he declared, though Elladan noticed that he had his fingers crossed as he spoke. ROTFL!! Somehow, I think Elrond might rather suspect that he’s not hearing the whole truth… This was just lovely, Jay. I got completely caught up in their excitement and energetic determination to complete the hunt. Thank you so much again. I really wasn’t expecting all these great stories but you’ve made me very happy :-)

Author's reply

Happy birthday for tomorrow, Dot! Have you got to work? I'm glad you liked this, and I must admit I had great fun writing it. The twins are such a joy to write when they're like this. Elladan is perfectly aware what 'today' means. He's just trying to annoy Erestor - and succeeding! Poor Erestor is rather frazzled, while Glorfindel is enjoying the fun. One of the things I like about the twins is showing their differences, and their arguing and banter, so I'm really glad when people comment of that. Yes, however much they argue, they're still a team :) I hope you have a lovely day tomorrow, with many elves bearing gifts.

Nilmandra · 24 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

Erestor sounds rather frazzled. I think he is going to put in for a long vacation, one that lasts until the twins come of age. They were cute, though, and very smart to figure out those clues!

Author's reply

Poor Erestor is very frazzled :) Glorfindel wasn't much help, either - he found the whole thing rather amusing. I don't think I could cope with them, though - they're not badly behaved, just very lively and curious!

Ellie · 24 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

Too cute! I love your stories! Poor Erestor will tell Elrond quite a different story when asked if the boys were any trouble, I'm sure. Poor exasperated Erestor! Glorfindel sure was nice to let the kids off easy in front of their parents. I loved the hunt and clues and the end was so very sweet! Well done, as usual.

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm not sure that Erestor will tell a different story - he wouldn't want to admit that he'd been overwhelmed by two elflings, would he? And Glorfindel won't tell - the twins are high-spirited, rather than naughty!

Radbooks · 24 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

Very sweet! I really enjoyed it.

Author's reply

Thank you!

daw the minstrel · 24 February 2007 · Chapter 1: The Treasure Hunt

A good birthday story, Jay. I hope Dot finds her heart's desire too. The twins were very engaging in this. They never mean to be bad. :-)

Author's reply

Of course they never mean to be bad! For example, they know they shouldn't go to the waterfall alone, but as Erestor told them to ... they're just curious. Glad you liked this, Daw - I had a lot of fun writing it!
