Bodkin · 20 March 2007 · Chapter 15: O: Like an Ornery Oromë

It would seem as if the ornery pony must have some Rohirric blood! A fine gift from a Faramir to a Faramir.

Author's reply

It's quite possible! I thought it would make a good coming-of-age gift!

Bodkin · 20 March 2007 · Chapter 14: N: Like a Nimble Nimrodel

I love the arrival of elderly Amrothos! And his story of Mithrellas and Imrazor is preferable to that of her being murdered by him. Although I sneakily prefer to imagine her remaining rather longer! (It's all a wink of the eye in elven terms, anyway.) It's hard to imagine a mother willingly leaving her infant children, even if she does hear Nimrodel dancing outside.

Author's reply

Well, a quick check of dates let me know that, given his Numenorean/Elven ancestry, he was quite likely to still be around and still be spry when Pippin came to the Court to retire. It seemed to me that they might get on nicely. I'm thinking she didn't *mean* to leave them. She probably wanted to find her friends and invite them in--but something happened and she never came back.

Bodkin · 20 March 2007 · Chapter 13: M: Like Marrying Merry

What a very Pippish final comment! I'm glad Merry got to preside at the wedding of one of his offspring! And I'm equally glad to see the star of the Gamgees continuing to rise. Considering Sam's vast number of children, he is likely to be closely connected to all the gentlehobbitly Shire families by the time he takes ship. How quickly the years pass.

Author's reply

*giggle* It was Pippish, wasn't it? I predict that you are quite probably correct!

Bodkin · 20 March 2007 · Chapter 12: L: Like a Legacy of Legolas

That is very ... generous of Pippin. But then, he is the sort of person to know instinctively that treasure builds up exponentially when you give it away. As one who has endured offspring playing the recorder rather badly, I feel for Merry. Even as I admire Pippin for his ... nobility of purpose.

Author's reply

Pippin is indeed a generous soul, and you are absolutely right. As one who plays the recorder rather badly, I sympathize with Merry myself. And so do my dogs.

Baggins Babe · 20 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Q: Like a Querulous Quickbeam

I love Quickbeam - of course they're not orcs! Get on with it! I always loved that bit in the film, when Treebeard said "We have decided........you are not orcs!" and Pip says 'That's good news.' Merry was fit to explode!

Author's reply

Yes, Quickbeam was definitely *not* your typical Ent, was he? He certainly seemed to have made his mind up quickly! I remember that scene. I wish they had had Quickbeam in the films...

Baggins Babe · 20 March 2007 · Chapter 16: P: Like a Pink Pippin

Poor Pippin! And Aunt Hepatica sounds a real dragon! My great aunt was like that - 4ft10in andruled with a rod of iron! She was a former suffragette and took no nonsense from anyone. Diamond sounds lovely - no wonder Pip loves her.

Author's reply

Yes, that sounds a good deal like Aunt Hepatica! She brooks no nonsense at all! I'm glad you like my Diamond--I'm rather fond of her myself, LOL!

Larner · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Q: Like a Querulous Quickbeam

Aha! Yes, that is so definitely in keeping and character with our Quickbeam! Love it! No, not orcs, and let's get a proper move on!

Author's reply

Well, they didn't name him that for nothing, LOL!

Pearl Took · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Q: Like a Querulous Quickbeam

Excellent! A hasty Ent indeed! Wonderful!

Author's reply

Thank you! 8-)

Pearl Took · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 16: P: Like a Pink Pippin

Aw! This was great fun and so very sweet and romantic! He had a very pink time indeed ;-)

Author's reply

"Sweet and romantic" is good! Thank you, dear!

Pearl Took · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 15: O: Like an Ornery Oromë

I hope Faramir is a good rider! :-O The pony sounds lovely though :-)

Author's reply

I hope he is too!

Lindelea · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 16: P: Like a Pink Pippin

Aw. This was delightful. Though if there were blushing muscles, it sounds as if his would be exhausted by the end of the visit. Oops, lunch is over, time for read aloud!

Author's reply

Poor Pippin! I'm sure all the blushing wore him out, LOL! Read aloud? I hope it's a good story!

Lindelea · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Q: Like a Querulous Quickbeam

LOL! Quite hasty, for an Ent!

Author's reply

Indeed! That's our Quickbeam! *grin*

harrowcat · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Q: Like a Querulous Quickbeam

Har-hoom I would have thought that the simplicity of a drabble was a bit short even for quick beam *g* But you do get a lot into a few words! Most hasy author!

Author's reply

Well, Treebeard *did* say he was hasty, LOL!

SurgicalSteel · 19 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Q: Like a Querulous Quickbeam

Nicely done - sums up what he must've said quite neatly!

Author's reply

Thank you! I was sure such a "hasty" Ent would not care for all the palaver!

Larner · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 16: P: Like a Pink Pippin

Nice to see Pippin getting quite pink so repeatedly. And Diamond is being properly proprietory of HER Pippin. I LOVE Aunt Hepatica, myself. Glad to see the old dear martinet! Glad she likes him.

Author's reply

He blushes nicely, doesn't he? *grin* I don't think Diamond is generally the jealous type, but I'm sure she would have discouraged any attempts at poaching! Yes, she likes him. Which begs the question: what if she didn't? Words fail me!

Larner · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 15: O: Like an Ornery Oromë

Ah! How perfect a name! And I can't imagine the pony's namefather objecting, myself. Heh!

Author's reply

No, I can't imagine he would either. I thought it would be appropriate, what with an arrow-shaped blaze.

MithLuin · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 16: P: Like a Pink Pippin

Soooooo cute :) Though with three sisters of his own, you'd think Pippin would learn not to blush around women *all* the time. Just teasing, it's certainly different when it's the girl he's courting!

Author's reply

Yes, it's *quite* different! Though I am sure that Pearl, Pimpernel and Pervinca would have loved to see him squirm--because I'm also quite sure that he had many occasions to make *them* blush, LOL! It's a shame they couldn't have seen that!

Andrea · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 16: P: Like a Pink Pippin

That was great! But this chapter definitely needs a beverage alert! Mostly, from my point of view for this: “Good morning, everyone!” he called cheerily, as he entered the room. “This smells like a very lovely first breakfast.” “It is second breakfast, Peregrin,” corrected Aunt Hepatica ROTFL!!! Aunt Hepatica is wonderful! And I do ask together with Pippin: What is she like if she *dis*-likes someone? Thank you for giving me a good laugh :)

Author's reply

Aunt Hepatica is quite a character, LOL! She just showed up in the story and took over! I'm glad if it made you laugh. Laughing is a Good Thing!

PIppinfan1988 · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 13: M: Like Marrying Merry

That was so sweet!!! I got misty-eyed when Merry gave away his baby in marriage. Like you, I imagine certain children of Pippin and Merry married one another, but I like how you go a step further and bring Sam's children into the lovely mix. Then again, Sam and his Rosie kept Bag End well stocked with children - I'd wager just about every family in the Shire got a little bit of Gamgee blood in them after another generation passed. :-P I adored this wonderful peek into Merry's family! PF

Author's reply

I've always thought that if one of Sam's children married into Pippin's family, one of them *must* have married into Merry's--it only makes sense! Yes, this little story was a bit of a revelation to *me* too--now I know who Wyn married, and when, as well as Perry and Dilly!

PIppinfan1988 · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 12: L: Like a Legacy of Legolas

Oh, that was too cute, lol! I easily identified with Ilberic, though. :-P That wonderful Pippin has a golden heart, doesn't he? PF

Author's reply

Pippin *does* have a golden heart; he's generous to a fault.

PIppinfan1988 · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 11: K: Like Kissing the King of Númenor

Tender and Beautiful! :-) PF

Author's reply

*blushes* thank you!

PIppinfan1988 · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 10: J: Like Juggling the Jewels of Fëanor

I became completely confused trying to keep track of everything that was involved. I remember that I told Bilbo that it was like trying to juggle.” Oh, darn! LOL, I thought you were going to go into a whole dissertation about the Silmarillion! I can't tell you how many times I've tried reading that book. The parts I'm not juggling are terrific. I really enjoyed that whole scene between Frodo and Fatty; those two are yet another pair rarely put together in a plot. I loved Frodo's love and patience toward his younger cousin. PF

Author's reply

I've only managed to read it twice, and I certainly didn't keep everything straight! Well, you know, Fatty *was* in Frodo's inner circle of friends--they *must* have had some occasional one-on-one time! And I see Frodo as always being patient with the younger ones.

harrowcat · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 16: P: Like a Pink Pippin

A blushing pink Pipkin just makes him more like his 'baby' name. Glad that Aunt Hepatica likes him! Am loving all these Dreamflower - sorry RL is keeping me from reviewing lots!

Author's reply

I think Pip's adorable when he blushes. *grin* It's quite good that she likes him--I think she'd really be a dragon if she didn't! "Lots" is not that important--just knowing you read is lovely!

PIppinfan1988 · 18 March 2007 · Chapter 9: I: Like Inspiring Ilúvatar

Wow...that Amazing Grace - gotta love it. :-) I thought something rang familiar with that stanza. I wish I had a deeper understanding of poetry; I do have my favourite styles, don't know what all of them are called, lol, but I did enjoy this one immensely. The style, the rhythmn...the content. :-) Excellent! PF

Author's reply

I love structured poetry. Not that free verse doesn't have its charms, but I like the challenge of writing a poem to a set form, whether rhyme and meter, like most poetry, or the alliterative verse of the Anglo-saxons, or haiku or other length based poems, such as dribbles. I had once previously written a sestina many years ago, and the form seemed appropriate for what I wished to accomplish in this one.

Queen Galadriel · 17 March 2007 · Chapter 15: O: Like an Ornery Oromë

*laughs in surprise* You named the *pony* Orome! How very clever! Once again I'm blown away! And I love Orome's (the pony's) personality! LOL! God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Well, I sort of felt like I cheated, but I wracked my brain over this prompt before I stopped focussing on "Orome" and started focussing on "ornery"--as soon as I did that, I thought of a pony. And I will freely confess that his personality is influenced by Lindelea's story "StarFire".
