Poor Merry! Just a touch garish in his sartorial taste.
Author's reply
For some reason I just thought of the Queer Eye guys and what they would say! ;-)

*snicker* Attaboy, Merry...brazen it out!
Author's reply
If he can survive the Black Breath, he can definitely handle a bit of cousinly teasing. :-)
Antane · 20 May 2007 · Chapter 13: Suit Yourself
Frodo cups a hand to his ear. "What was that? I couldn't hear you over your waistcoat." LOL!
Author's reply
Inspired by something Drew Carey said to Colin Mochrie on Whose Line Is It Anyway. :-)

Larner · 20 May 2007 · Chapter 13: Suit Yourself
Hilarious! I can hear them all at it.
Author's reply
They are all so fun to write. :-)
Antane · 15 May 2007 · Chapter 12: Prince of the Halflings
And one silly Sam and one silly Gollum. :) Isn't it wonderful that he can laugh and not feel guilty that he didn't do it? Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
For a moment, anyway. (sigh)
Dreamflower · 14 May 2007 · Chapter 12: Prince of the Halflings
I don't remember if I commented on this at LJ--I had a lot of interruptions this morning! But I couldn't just let this lovely snippet pass! It's so very much in character for both of them, from Frodo's first question, to the "swat" at the end. Of course Frodo would want to know why! Lovely job, and a conversation that *must* have taken place at some point in time!
Author's reply
Those are my favorite kind to try to imagine. Thanks for the comment, it's much appreciated!
Pearl Took · 14 May 2007 · Chapter 12: Prince of the Halflings
Marvelous, Rowan! I love the jesting between the cousins and Pip swatting Frodo! Wonderful!
Author's reply
Awwww...'twas fun. I enjoy writing banter. :-)
Lindelea · 14 May 2007 · Chapter 12: Prince of the Halflings
What a lovely scene! In total agreement; Frodo and Sam (and the follower-cousins) are equal to an army of 5,000. Easily. Perhaps more.
Author's reply
I know which I'd rather have. :-)
Larner · 14 May 2007 · Chapter 12: Prince of the Halflings
Yes, all it took was one Baggins and one Gamgee with enough gumption and perseverence and endurance between them for 10,000 Hobbits or Men! Heh! Love the interaction between the "silly Baggins" and the prince of a Took!
Author's reply
They are both so fun to write. :-)
Bodkin · 14 May 2007 · Chapter 12: Prince of the Halflings
I love that! I can just see Frodo's disapproval - and Pippin's cheeky response. And Pippin's right, too! Frodo, aka Five-Thousand-Swords. (It sounds quite Rohirric as a title. Perhaps Merry should suggest it to Eomer.) Although, considering Sam's input, perhaps Frodo should share the 5000 out with him.
Author's reply
Glad you liked it! I'd rather have one silly Baggins (and one loyal Gamgee) than 5000 swords any day...
Inkling · 8 May 2007 · Chapter 11: Enduring
Poor Frodo, that reality is worse than delirium. This got me wondering…if you're out of your mind, just where are you?
Author's reply
Indiana? (just kidding; I'm in Indiana)
demeter d · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 11: Enduring
"...evil voices, telling me I can have peace and rest if I will just give in. I will not." Short, sweet and to the point, as the old expression goes. And, VERY Powerful!
Author's reply
I was looking for a phrase that would sum Frodo's character up, for me at least. :-)
Antane · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 11: Enduring
I cannot even imagine what it was like for Frodo those seventeen days, fading and knowing that he was and unable to comfort his beloved friends, but what courage and endurance, what grace he was given to bear such a terrible wound. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Antane · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 8: Between Here and There
But this journey has humbled me. It has taught me that love can give stature that cannot be measured, and that innocence can be the fount of strength. And that courage is indeed found in the most unlikely of places. Indeed. God chose the weak to shame the strong and it was the weak that were strong and the strong weak, slaves already. I've learned much about the humility of Aragorn in the last year or so. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
I've always thought Aragorn was more complex than he's usually given credit for, and I love all the moments in LOTR where he shows he's not too lofty to hang out with his hobbit friends. :-)
Antane · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 7: On That Note
I hope it did bring joy to hear that sound. I wonder when Frodo began to realize that for him the sacrifices weren't over, that the biggest and worst was still to come. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Antane · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 5: The Great Caradhras Coverup
I love it! Cute title too. :) In my fourth re-read of the Red Book, I read a few days ago Frodo telling Sam "I won't budge" from the tower until Sam had something to eat and drink. Loving defiance on both sides. Ah, hobbity love... Namarie, God bless, Antane :)
Author's reply
Hobbity love, the best kind. :-)
Antane · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 4: Son of My Heart
And I have found my soulmate. I have learned and changed so much because of Frodo. Thank you, Primula and Drogo, Bilbo, Merry, Sam, Pippin, Gandalf - all of you have helped shape him and thank you, Professor for discovering his text and thank you most of all God for creating him. :)
Author's reply
Frodo is definitely one of the best (and least appreciated, by the world at large I mean) heroes in literature.
Antane · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 3: On the Taste of Medicinal Draughts
I know exactly how you feel, dear Frodo. :(

Larner · 7 May 2007 · Chapter 11: Enduring
Yes--our Frodo, stubborn and determined Baggins as he is! Yes!
Author's reply
That's the Frodo I love. :-)
Bodkin · 30 April 2007 · Chapter 10: Sundered
Ent-romance! Treebeard is very poetic about Fimbrethil here - I daresay that, had he said such things to her, she would never have left him! Perhaps they will be reunited.
Author's reply
Yeah, he probably assumed she "knew" he loved her and he didn't have to say it. Men! LOL
Inkling · 30 April 2007 · Chapter 10: Sundered
Ah, hope springs eternal in an old Ent's heart! Keep the faith, Treebeard...Hal did see that walking tree, after all. The last line is lovely. You seem to have got the hang of this drabbling thing!
Author's reply
It's actually a lot easier than coming up with a whole fic! LOL Thank you so much for the kind comments!
Grey Wonderer · 30 April 2007 · Chapter 9: Brother in Arms
Two that would have been left behind if they had been less determined and stayed. Such a bond they must have had afterward!
Author's reply
There are quite a few examples in LOTR of disobedience leading to great deeds. "Where will wants not, a way opens."
Grey Wonderer · 30 April 2007 · Chapter 7: On That Note
Dear, dear Merry. It was the perfect thing to do and he did it.
