Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 18: Survival Skills + a guest drabble (myself, a friend, nuzgul, G)

Yes, I know all too well about plot bunnies and nuzguls. I see too many of them, it feels like.

Author's reply

Agreed: they seem to be particularly nippy this month.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 19: Turning (guess-the-characters, G)

Sad and bitter and defiant--with a trace of hope to be discerned.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 20: Leave It Unspoken (Galadriel, Finrod, PG13)

A terrible time to have to remember.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 21: Transition (Faramir, G)

No, real battles aren't neat and tidy, black figures on white pages--and so we prefer the visits of beloved kindred to brooding on memories and losses.

Author's reply

Definitely. Much more therapeutic than mourning alone.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 22: Shells and Stories (Boromir, Faramir, Finduilas, G)

Your children are so much children! Heh!

Author's reply

Thank you! I admit, this one has something of the spirit of Kasiopea's comics...

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 23: Turn (Legolas, PG13)

Aragorn and Legolas together, seeking Gollum about the edges of the Dead Marshes? Very eerie.

Author's reply

Legolas with scouts, seeking Gollum after he escaped from Thranduil's palace, and coming close to the influence of Dol Guldur. :) Good guess, though.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 24: Defiance (guess-the-characters, PG)

He'd best be wary of that knife at the belt, of course.

Author's reply

Damn straight, because she knows how to use it. (Side note: I'm sorry I'm not replying to all your reviews! I'm trying to be good and reply to all reviewers, but there are so many... Just know that I adore every single one of them. I am replying to ones that I have further thoughts/commentary on. Ish.)

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 25: Vigil (King of Gondor, Guards of the Citadel, PG)

I take it Queen Beruthiel is reminding someone of her former power....

Author's reply

*grin* Yes, indeed.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 17: Memory's Sake (Denethor, Boromir, G)

Yes, a night for remembering, this one, and for silent sharing of griefs between father and son.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 16: Replacements (Lothiriel, Arwen, G)

Oh, what a wonderful greeting from one who will be queen to another who is one already.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 15: The 25th of March (Boromir, Gondorian soldiers, PG)

Oh, definitely a necessity, to keep living while remembering those lost.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 14: Everything's Wrong (Sam, G)

Unfortunately, NOT a figment of his imagination. Wonderful feeling of the worry and isolation and gloom each was feeling.

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 13: Biased Bedtime Stories (twins, Arwen, Celebrian, G)

The rivalry of Vale and Wood. How silly and so typical of the children. How fast DO Elflings grow up, anyway?

Author's reply

Well, Elves are adults at 50. However, the twins and Arwen are around 100 years apart: they would be well into adulthood (albeit fairly young adulthood, for elves) by the time she was even born! But they're fun to put into the same age group. :)

Larner · 27 March 2007 · Chapter 12: The Return of the Banners (Haradrim, PG)

Oh, I can understand this one.

Bodkin · 24 March 2007 · Chapter 41: Divine Intervention (Varda, Isildur, Anárion, G)

I do like this! Varda's tidy mindedness ensuring that the remaining sons of Numenor are reunited - I agree with her - perfect!

Author's reply

Thanks! This is going to be a series, if you're interested. The new second part focuses on Yavanna. :)

Bodkin · 24 March 2007 · Chapter 40: The Solution (Tar-Miriel, PG13)

Courageous and determined. Not able to prevent her arrogant cousin from destroying Numenor - but doing what she can to prevent his line continuing. Well done, Tar Miriel.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 11: Forsaken Kin (Finarfin, Earwen, PG)

One at least had the grace to turn away from what had come of that vain oath. And I rejoice he wouldn't let his wife lose herself in her own desire for vengeance.

Author's reply

Finarfin so often gets the short end of the stick because there isn't anything written about him except that he stayed behind, while all his relatives who went to Middle-earth got all the glory (and the tragedy and death). Like Dumbledore says in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, it takes just as much courage to stand up to your friends as your enemies.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 10: Once (the Witch-King, PG)

Oh, how very wonderful! He accepted a gift and lost all that had ever given true meaning to his life. A pale shadow of Sauron he is now, and his end foreshadows what will come to his betrayer.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 26: Proof (Thengel, Lightfoot, G)

Beautiful.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 27: Momentary (First Age!Boromir, an elf, G)

Oh, what a wonderful image, long-ago Boromir finding a moment of great beauty to share with an Elven companion.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 28: Biased Bedtime Stories, Part the Second (Legolas, his sister, G)

Ah, how sweet! Lacking in respect for Imladris is he, our Legolas, as he keeps his sister entertained? And with his PET spiders? Oh, but it has me giggling.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 29: battle-thoughts (a Rider of Rohan, PG)

Ooh! A Rider's perhaps last thoughts as he rides one last time against an overwhelming foe. I'm not so good at short works such as this. You do so well at it.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I have a lot of fun writing drabbles.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 30: Many ways lead to Henneth Annûn... (Rangers of Ithilien, PG)

SO--that's how it was found, was it? Nice tale.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 31: Under the Influence (Imrahil, his hangover, his trusty manservant, PG)

Imrahil fore-imagined the Trojan War, did he? And had a rip-roaring drunk? Oh, his manservant sounds as if he were definitely acquainted with Jeeves! Wonderful!

Author's reply

As I said to an earlier review, I had too much fun writing this, because I was giggling aloud while picturing Imrahil's expression at the last line... Aeneid (as her pseudonym implies) is a fan of all things EPIC and GREEK, so I was much inspired by her love for aforementioned stories.

Larner · 23 March 2007 · Chapter 32: Guardian (Beleg Cúthalion, Lúthien, G)

So well told.
