Wow! That was written beautifully! You could feel the magic surrounding Paladin and Pippin. Pearl's review made me curious. Did that voice belong to the oak tree or to a spirit that lives in the tree but is able to leave it? I don't know many faerie stories. Anyway, Paladin has entered the faerie world now and I'm quite sure he will find his son. But I'm eager to know more about the mysterious Took ancestor who met Eolande, for example his name ;-)

Author's reply

Thank you so much! The voice Paladin hears is the spirit of the ancient oak. In faerielore and paganism, trees are sacred and they contain spirits. The oak is particularly revered by the fey folk as legend says the oak tree protects them. Oaks have many magical properties, as do other trees mentioned in this tale. You'll also find oaks in many of the tales I write. Everything in this story is based on info from mythology and faerielore. It has become a truly fascinating subject to me during my research for this story. Paladin will learn more as he goes along, before he finds Pippin. He may or may not find out the name of the ancestor - you'll have to keep reading to see!

Agape4Gondor · 30 April 2008 · Chapter 1: Tulip

What an absolutely delightful tale! I'm so glad I found it. I just loved the whole thing - but especially WHY Pip needed two baths. Well written shenanigans... And I cannot believe his sister didn't scream when the eggs broke. Great fun! Thanks so much!

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm so pleased to know you're enjoying it and I hope it continues to entertain!

shirebound · 30 April 2008 · Chapter 8: Walking Between Worlds

My goodness, the Magic just grows deeper and deeper. I wonder how much Pippin and his father will remember of this? But of course Tulip will remember everything. :)

Author's reply

You just never know about these things! But, yes, I'm sure Tulip has a tremendous memory, hee!

Pearl Took · 30 April 2008 · Chapter 8: Walking Between Worlds

oooo! Lovely!! Poor Paladin! I know the spirit means well, but as parent, I know he wants his lad, not strange teachings. I'm so glad Alfie is keeping an eye on Pippin :-) Wonderful as always,Cahtleen! MEWD!!

Author's reply

Yes, Poor Pad, I'm sure he will be so relieved by the time he makes it all the way to where Pippin is! Thanks, Pearl!

Golden · 29 March 2008 · Chapter 7: Along a Path of Light

Love it! Especially the scene with the music making creatures and Pip wondring where it comes from made a beautful, magic picture in my mind. The name you now picked out for the river is great too! Look forward to more! :)

Author's reply

I'm glad you could see the pictures in your imagination, then I know I have achieved my goal. Thank you so much Golden, for your ever-present support!

Andrea · 28 March 2008 · Chapter 7: Along a Path of Light

Wow! If I counted right, we have now four different strands in this story: three search parties - and Pippin :) I'm impressed! I really hope that the forest was not tricking Paladin and sent him in the wrong direction. After all the forest and its inhabitants should have sensed that he is another one with faerie blood in his veins. And they know where his son is. So, the "cave search party" found Paladin's slingshot? LOL!!! Pippin and his father have indeed a lot in common ;-) I'm looking forward to reading more.

Author's reply

Yes, there's a lot going on in this tale. You may be surprised in the next chapter as to what is going on with Paladin. I hope you enjoy reading it! Thank you so much for your comments and for continuing to follow my story!!

Larner · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 7: Along a Path of Light

Ah--the Faerie blood tells in this story, showing up in Paladin and Peregrin both. And we see that Merry wasn't the first one to find that cave! Paladin's catapult! Hooray! Soon the reunion will take place, and Pippin will return home to his home.

Author's reply

The Took Faerie blood has always fascinated me, and I'm having fun exploring it in this story! Thank you for the FB, Bonnie!

shirebound · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 7: Along a Path of Light

Oh my goodness, how suspenseful! The reunion is going to be so joyous when it finally comes. “They want you to know how much they appreciate the music they have heard you make, Peregrin. You sing like no other they have heard before, with a voice that is sweet and clear, and that rings with joy and purity.” That's lovely.

Author's reply

Yes, it should prove to be a very interesting reunion. Thank you so much for your kind words, they're much appreciated!

Pearl Took · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 7: Along a Path of Light

All so very well done, Cathleen!! And you are very welcome :-) I love the things that are happening with Pippin and the faerie folk. I really liked how you handled the business with the small cave. Good suspense and a wonderful surprise resolution! Like father . . .

Author's reply

Heee! Like father, like son? Yep! I'm so glad you're still enjoying this Pearl, and thank you for letting me know!

Pearl Took · 27 January 2008 · Chapter 6: A Faerie's Garden

Most curious! Paladin didn't actually find Tulip . . . did he? Pip is in the woods . . . isn't he? I really sympathize with Merry and all the family that is with him. They are so frightened. Looking forward to more :-)

Author's reply

Thanks so much, Pearl! Yes, they're frightened, but at the same time, I think they all know how adventuresome Pip is. I like to imagine that some among them 'know' for certain that he will be found safe and sound. Hmm, *did* Pad find Tulip???

Golden · 26 January 2008 · Chapter 6: A Faerie's Garden

Another great Chapter! :D I loved this from beginning to end and how your decribe this small earth fairy is wonderful. I wonder...you think when Pip is grown, like maybe after the Quest and not as "innocent" as before with all the evil he has seen, how would it be, when he and Roswhen meet again?

Author's reply

Thanks, hon! And - oh my! I see those dangerous wheels are turning in your head....Pip and Rhoswen meet again later? Well, we'll see. It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.....

Andrea · 25 January 2008 · Chapter 6: A Faerie's Garden

Wow! I just discovered this story today and I read it in one go! Roshwen seems to be a lot like Pippin! Alfie, who might be a leader of her kind, reacts differently. And I would trust her to bring Pippin back to his own world. For he left his world when he brushed the primroses against that huge stone, right? I agree with Pippin that Tulip sounds a lot like his mother! But that's exactly what he needs at times ;-) Paladin is on the right track, and I loved it to see that his "Sight" reassured him that his son was in no danger. I only wonder what Saradoc and his companions will find! They follow the wrong direction, don't they? Well, we'll see ... Thank you for another wonderful story :)

Author's reply

Hmm, I'm thinking that we won't know which direction is 'right' or 'wrong' - I think all roads will eventually lead to Pippin! Thank you so very much for your generous comments!!

Larner · 25 January 2008 · Chapter 6: A Faerie's Garden

At least Merry is thinking on what Pippin might have done; and with the practicality of Hobbits Eglantine is planning for all contingencies. Love the search as being followed by Pal, and his trust in his Sight. Now, to find Tulip like that.... Is Pippin in the throes of his own vision granted by the sight? Now I'm wondering just where Pippin WILL be found! And I love the look at all the small guardians Pippin is meeting. Perhaps he will find it that much the easier in the distant future when he sees Frodo leave Middle Earth, knowing that so many will be watching over his beloved older cousin.

Author's reply

Ah, but has Pad actually found Tulip? As always, thank you so much for following my little tale and giving me your FB - muchly appreciated, Larner!

shirebound · 25 January 2008 · Chapter 6: A Faerie's Garden

My goodness, I hope someone believes Pippin's story when he tells it. What an unusual adventure for him and Tulip.

Author's reply

Yes, it's certainly not an ordinary day, huh? Thanks for your comments Shirebound, they are much appreciated, as always!

ruby · 13 January 2008 · Chapter 5: Alfie

Please write more soon! I think Tulip the pig is adorable and it's neat that you don't really say that she doesn't talk to Pippin!

Author's reply

Thank you so much for your kind comments! Yes, I'll have more very soon!

Queens Reader · 21 October 2007 · Chapter 5: Alfie

Golden · 20 October 2007 · Chapter 5: Alfie

Finally! :D Love the Chapter! Pip and the little fairy are so sweet, but glad her mom is there. More please! *sits back waiting* *g*

I'm so glad you approve, Jana! Thanks for the sweet comments - more soon, I promise!

Larner · 19 October 2007 · Chapter 5: Alfie

Oh, wonderful! So, Alfie(?) has come to stop Rhoswen from capturing poor Pippin forever in the Faerie Halls, has she? And just managed to get there in time to stop him from eating faerie food! Bless her. Now the rest have the chance to find him! Poor little lad, though, realizing he's just lost what promised to be a wonderful feast! Heh!

Author's reply

Thanks so much for your comments! I do hope you continue to enjoy this tale. Cathleen

Pearl Took · 18 October 2007 · Chapter 5: Alfie

I think Pip is not the only one in trouble with a parent ;-) Wonderful and more wonderful! I want a Tulip! She's adorable!

Author's reply

Awww, thanks so much Pearl!

shirebound · 18 October 2007 · Chapter 5: Alfie

Oh my, what a magical tale! I'm glad everyone is searching, and I wonder who will find him first? He and Tulip will be *ready* for a feast by that time. :)

Author's reply

Thank you Shirebound! It's going to be a little while yet before Pip and Tulip get to eat, I'm afraid!

Golden · 13 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Rhoswen

Great Chapter. Finally she spoke to him. I can´t wait how it will continue. I don´t think Rhoswen is evil, so I not really fear for Pip ( well a bit maybe *g*), but I am veeeeeeery curious on what he will see and learn and of course how he comes back to his family in the end.

Author's reply

Never fear, Pippin will prevail, of course, and have tons of fun along the way! I'm *glad* you're curious! Thanks so much for your wonderful comments, Golden!

Pearl Took · 9 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Rhoswen

I'm so glad she has finally spoken to Pippin :) I love your descriptions of her part of the woods, all the brighter colors and everything seeming fresher somehow. Poor Tulip! Eglantine really did put part of herself in that knitted piglet! Perhaps, she was thinking it would be a way to keep an eye on her rascal of a son ;-) This is such fun!

Author's reply

Thanks Pearl! We'll see more of what Rhoswen has to say and what she is up to in the next chapter. I'm so pleased you're having fun with my story, thanks for the kind words! Cathleen

Larner · 8 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Rhoswen

Hmm. Time can move strangely in the fairy halls.

Author's reply

Yes, it can, and I'm finding there are many odd things about faeries! Cathleen

shirebound · 8 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Rhoswen

Oh dear, I hope Pippin won't be irretrievably lost! He seems very deep into the spell of faerie, and is now in another realm altogether. Tulip is such a wonderful companion. :)

Author's reply

Shirebound, Never fear, I would never let our Pip be lost forever! Lol, I'm pleased you like Tulip! Cathleen

Dreamflower · 8 August 2007 · Chapter 4: Rhoswen

Ah! This came out very nicely! I am very curious to know what the faerie wants with Pippin, and why she chose to lure him away. And of course, I'm concerned about his poor family, frantic with worry!

Author's reply

Thank you Dreamflower, and for your wonderful beta! We'll see more of the faerie in the next chapter and maybe she'll reveal more of her plans... Cathleen
