WOOHOO another chapter :)
Brilliance as always, with lovely levels and angst and general gut-wrenching emotion. Absolutely brillant :)

Thanks yet again for the review! There is plenty more angst and emotion to come. The next chapter is up, but you will have to wait a while to see what is going to happen to Elladan.

You do Elladan's confusion very well! He is so disoriented and the reader can really see how he would believe that his delusions are real. But how ironic that it was himself Elladan saw in his visions.
Author's reply
Thanks, Daw! I tried to make his reasoning logical (considering the state he was in) and at the same time convey how bewildering his memories are. I hope you lke the latest twist!

I'm certainly glad to see them all back in Imladris. Elladan has truely taken a turn for the worst. It's a good thing that his brother knows him so well and could see that something was gravely amiss. I like the relationship between these two brothers. The twin connection is fascinating. I particularly liked the way you brought full circle Elladan's earlier dream. There is concern that Elladan may not be able to offer his brother comfort and that he might not be there at all. All this time, I think Elladan was thinking that something had happened to Elrohir, but it turned out that it was he who might be lost. I'm glad Elrond is around now and I'm looking forward to the next chapter. Very good, Jay. You maintain the integrity of the story and the quality of your writing. :>)Karen
Author's reply
'Integrity and quality' - thanks, Karen! I love comments like that. In the latest chapter there's yet another twist on Elladan's dreams, and the twin relationship will be even more significant soon.

I am glad to see them safe in Rivendell, and now we just have to hope that Elrond can figure out the poison. Some sort of neurological toxin by the sounds of it......and things do not sound pleasant for Elladan at all. But perhaps it will be more unpleasant for his family. Nice builiding of tension....

It won't be pleasant for Elladan OR his family for a while. I'm evil. And even when Elrond has worked out what the poison is, their troubles aren't over ...

Now there is a scary ending to the chapter. Legolas's wonderings really jolted me because I hadn't made the connection.
Great job on showing Elladan's gradually deteriorating condition. I was glad the he finally told Elrohir what the matter was, and as it turned out, Elrohir really did have to tell Elrond about the injury while Elladan was unconscious. Nice detail.
Author's reply
Elladan's vision will have even more significance soon. I tried hard to imagine how he would feel as the poison gradually took effect - I'm glad it worked. I got a few odd looks from other members of the family at times!

WOOHOOO!!! Ajy,
I've been reading this since the beginning but have not reviewed until now. I apologize for my tardiness. I have truly enjoyed your story. It's exciting, full of adventure, action and deep emotion. This last chapter was so heartfelt. Poor Elrond and Celebrian. I suppose our children never grow too old for us to wear grooves in the floor with our pacing and worry. They have good reason to be concerned. And poor Bereth's family. What horrible news. I've always like the Elven custom of singing laments for the fallen. I felt sad along with Elrond and Celebrian as they listened and worried for their own son. In the last chapter I loved the bedtime story and Legolas's reaction to it....not exactly how he remembered it! Very good, Jay...the whole thing! I'm looking forward to the next chapter.....and getting these three young elves home. :>)Karen
Author's reply
Thanks for reviewing! I'm so glad you're enjoying the story. While Elrond and Celebrian will have a happy reunion eventually, I wanted to show the effect on those who do get bad news. The three will get home in the end, but there will be more angst bothe before and after that. Stay tuned!

Jay-
first, would you do me a favor and delete the garbled review I just sent?
then, I really enjoyed this chapter, although "enjoyed" is perhaps the wrong word. The anguish of the people at home is heartbreaking. You have done an excellent job with the pain of the parents and then the mourning of the whole community.
Author's reply
First: already done!
then: I know what you mean. To say I 'enjoyed' writing this chapter sounds odd (but I did!) As I said before, I decided to give the twins a break, and concentrate on Elrond and Celebrian instead.

Jay! I just pounded my computer screen! Send Glorfindel! They need to send aid to the twins.
Elrond's and Celebrian's reactions are just heartbreaking. Not knowing the fate of their own son, but knowing his companion is dead can only lead them to think the worst. Yes, send for Arwen, but send out reinforcements! *nudges Jay* Come on, you know you want to.
Yes, I know, I am an obnoxious reader. *grin*
Author's reply
No, not obnoxious at all! (No one who reviews is) I decided to give the twins a break, and concentrate on what their parents were feeling instead. I'll think about sending reinforcements - but with what I've got in mind, Glorfindel won't be able to do much!

· Chapter 11: The Calm Before the Storm
oh dear. :-(
I should have known something bad would happen just by the chapter title.
But before I wail about the bad, evil, worrying thing you've done to Elladan, I should talk about the good parts of the chapter. I hope that the outlaws our threesome killed were the same ones terrorizing Withypool. I like the people of that little village and want them to be left in peace. Yay that the extra horses got to stay with Dacy and her family! I liked the embellished bprince and princess story. Especially Elrohir's uncertainty (confusion??) as to whether or not "Princess" Arwen was beautiful. Just like a brother. LOL Loved Legolas' explanation as to why he felt he needed to protect her. Finally, Elrohir's reason as to why he didn't tell Dacy who the prince in the story was a gem. how could I shatter Dacy’s illusions? – that the wonderful prince in her story was just you, when you had just been fetching water from the well! "Just you" -- that still makes me laugh.
And now for that ending ..... *makes an angry face* >>:(
Here you go, setting us up for something bad still to happen to Elrohir ... and you turn the tables and partially paralyze Elladan! Bad author, bad, bad author! Bad ... mean ... wicked author. I wasn't expecting that.
I hope you can update soon. I wanna know what happens!

· Chapter 10: Interlude
Elladan reflected that not the next day, but the day after, they would be safely back in Imladris, and he could finally relax. Why does the phrase "famous last words" come to mind when I read the last part of that sentence? Could it be because I don't entirely trust you to allow Elladan to relax in less than 2 days?
I'm glad Elrohir and the others weren't too seriously hurt. I laughed at how both twins admitted that they knew "the routine" about checking for head injuries and what concussions felt like.
You know what the big question in my mind is right now? Believe it or not, I want to know what's going to happen to all the horses! (I think Elrohir's young admirer in Withypool would like one.)
Another good chapter, Jay.

· Chapter 10: Interlude
Hmm. Something tells me that the journey back to Imladris won’t be quite as easy as Elladan thinks it’ll be... Hasn’t he at least learned that by now?!
The fight scene was wonderfully written – very vivid. But what were the men thinking, taking on three elves?!
I love cranky Elrohir. He’s really been through the wringer. He’s lucky he’s with two people who care about him so much, although I can see how he wouldn’t appreciate all their “fussing”!
It’s interesting to see Elladan battle with himself about what the visions mean and whether or not he should tell his brother. It’s a heavy burden to bear alone but then, if they are that vague he’d probably just succeed in frightening Elrohir. But they have to mean something, don’t they...?!;)
Author's reply
Yes, poor Elladan has a rude awakening coming. His visions are not over yet. As for the men, they thought they would have no problems - twelve against three would seem like very good odds to them. Their only previous experience of ambushing an elf was Bereth, who was no great shakes as a warrior.
