Oh, Pippin. Mind what you say!

GamgeeFest · 5 April 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

It was admirable of Frodo to try to take the blame, but Legolas's solution was the best - and he can back it up with his quiver of arrows! ;) This is one conversation that won't be coming up again, at least for a while. After the quest, I'm sure they'll all look back on this and have a good laugh, as I did reading it. That Merry! :D

Author's reply

The Elves have lots of experience dealing with trouble-makers and I think Legolas finally figured out exactly what it would take to get Merry off of the subject. hehehe Thank you for reviewing and I'm glad you got a laugh out of it!

Golden · 23 February 2008 · Chapter 4: Thinking of Marigold

I have read the story before at the Challenges. It always makes me laughing out loud. Its a fantastic story and so lifly written.

Golden · 23 February 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

*giggles* You can write funny stories out of every subject, can´t you? Love it!

Author's reply

So glad you enjoyed it! I love it when people giggle at these.

Golden · 23 February 2008 · Chapter 2: Row, Row, Row, your boat, gently...

*L* Your stories always make me laugh. I love how you let your Hobbits talk with each other and Pip´s ideas.. *L* very very good story!

Golden · 23 February 2008 · Chapter 1: Sam Gamgee, River Hobbit

Oh Pippin! *L* Love this conversation between the cousins and that its all written out of Sams perspective!

Golden · 23 February 2008 · Chapter 0: A discussion about disclaimers

*L* Just hilarious!

Hai Took · 8 February 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

Oh my! That was great! I don't suppose elves would snore? I like that Merry was concerned with it, and Boromir offended by. Funny how no one thinks they snore. Thank you for the laugh!

Author's reply

I can't imagine Elves snoring or doing anything that is less than perfect. LOL It would seem that Legolas can't imagine that either. Thanks for the review and I'm very glad you enjoyed this one.

Baggins Babe · 4 February 2008 · Chapter 4: Thinking of Marigold

*snert* Oh Pip! This was hilarious - I laughed myself silly. I have often wondered about this scene and what sort of conversation went on between them while Tom was away, and now I know! *giggles* The flag of the Tooklands indeed.

Author's reply

Yes, this was *exactly* what they must have talked about! This is why the Tom Bombadil scenes were cut from Jackson's films. He didn't want an adult rating. hehehe Thanks for reviewing and I'm glad to hear you giggling.

Jay of Lasgalen · 4 February 2008 · Chapter 4: Thinking of Marigold

**Howls with laughter** Thanks for this read on a Monday morning!

Author's reply

You are most welcome! Glad you got a laugh out of it. I blame Tolkien for undressing the hobbits to begin with. (Always blame someone if you can.) Thanks for reviewing!

Althea · 3 February 2008 · Chapter 4: Thinking of Marigold

This is wonderful! You had me laughing out loud.

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed it. It's an odd look at the Quest but it is revealing. hehehe

Larner · 3 February 2008 · Chapter 4: Thinking of Marigold

You KNOW how much I love this one. So very glad it's now part of the archive here! Heh! Wonderful, GW.

Author's reply

I sent it over and let the mod on the site approve it before posting it here. she didn't find it objectionable as far as 'too risky to post' and gave it the ok so here it is. I claim this one as one of my few "On the Quest" fictions until recently and so I did think it belonged with the others. Thanks for reviewing it again.

Andrea · 3 February 2008 · Chapter 4: Thinking of Marigold

"I had best try to lower the flag of the Tooklands before Tom returns," Pippin stood and keeping his back to all of them, walked awkwardly off towards the field. ROTFL!!! Well, I think your "symbolic flag" is very funny! Why did Frodo ask about the castor oil, I wonder. Only for Pippin's sake? He's not *that* old. Unfortunately, Tom Bombadil arrived - too early, if you ask me ;-) Thank you, G.W., for this funny little story (and there was no sheep in it)!

Author's reply

So glad you enjoyed it. As to what Frodo might have wanted to do with the castor oil, one can only imagine. He may have wanted it for Pip and then he may also have wanted to know if Sam had ever used it before for this sort of thing. hehehe I had to let Tom come back at some point, didn't I? : ) No sheep but maybe if I try really hard I can work sheep into the Quest fictions somewhere. You know if I can, I will.

Neilia · 28 January 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

You gave me my laughter for the day! Can't wait for the next installment. *giggling*

Author's reply

I love being the bringer of laughter. Hope you had a great day! Keep smiling.

PIppinfan1988 · 27 January 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

LOL, I don't know how you do it, except with sheer talent, but your comic tales are always hilarious! Oh, the come-backs from Merry to Pippin in this one were *priceless*! Pippin said smugly. "He makes this little snuffing sound just at the end of his snores as if someone is pinching his nose shut." "I am considering pinching your mouth shut," Merry muttered. I just love the Merry & Pippin banter, and trailing it by a hair's breadth is Frodo & Merry banter. And all of the ruckus over snoring! Only you could take such a minor thing and have your hobbits blow it up and make something major out of it. Just fabulour and absolutley funny, GW!

Author's reply

Thank you! Whenever I write them Merry and Pippin seem to come off as a stand-up team at times. hehehe So very glad you enjoyed this. I will be calling you before long so we can set up something. Maybe the weather will cooperate. Tattoo!

Pearl Took · 27 January 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

How diplomatic of Legolas! What a clever way to weasel his way out of saying who was actually snoring. LOL MEWD, GW!!

Author's reply

Elves have had years to perfect their diplomatic skills. hehehe In this case I do think Legolas was very grateful for that. Thanks for the lovely review!

Larner · 27 January 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

Ah--so Legolas was being as diplomatic as possible while protecting himself from Gandalf's possible ire; and Frodo was willing to sacrifice his own dignity to stop the discussion. Bless both Elf and eldest Hobbit! Wonderful!

Author's reply

Yes, the Elf and the eldest Hobbit had to work very hard in the face of all of the madness they were traveling with. Makes you wonder if perhaps Lord Elrond should have just sent Frodo, Sam and Legolas on the Quest. Maybe nine was too many?

Dreamflower · 27 January 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

*giggle* I remember this from LJ! Did I tell you how much I loved Legolas being so "diplomatic"? You have such a way with banter! I also loved Merry's stubbornness, and Frodo's attempt to take the blame--which would have been fine if it had worked, but Merry just wouldn't take the hint! LOL!

Author's reply

Merry was determined that someone own up to having cost him a night's sleep. Good thing Legolas was able to take care of things. Glad you enjoyed it!

Kitty · 27 January 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

*snicker* They're always arguing about something, aren't they? Legolas was very diplomatic about that all. And Merry did snore, too? What was the saying about glasshouses and throwing stones? ;-) Thanks for the laugh!

Author's reply

Our own snoring never seems to be a problem does it? LOL I guess Merry was fine with his own nightly noises but not too keen on the snores of others. As one of the firstborn, Legolas must have had some very trying times while traveling among mortals. Thanks for reading and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

harrowcat · 27 January 2008 · Chapter 3: One Morning On The Quest

Thanks for the much needed grin GW.

Author's reply

You are most welcome, harrowcat! Thank you for reading!

cathleen · 19 January 2008 · Chapter 2: Row, Row, Row, your boat, gently...

Heh, what an entertaining conversation! This little tale was wonderful, I really enjoyed it.

Author's reply

More Shirebound. LOL Thanks so much for reading and I'm very glad you enjoyed this one!

cathleen · 19 January 2008 · Chapter 1: Sam Gamgee, River Hobbit

Oh, I recall this bunny from Shirebound's wonderful collection. Poor Sam and boats!

Author's reply

Shirebound has the best ideas! In fact both of the stories posted to this series were her ideas. I don't normally write Quest fiction but somehow she seems to hit upon ideas that set me to writing. Thank you for reviewing!

cathleen · 19 January 2008 · Chapter 0: A discussion about disclaimers

The "disclaimer" was almost as much fun to read as the story itself, GW! You are so creative, thank you for a "pre-chuckle" before the rest of the tale!

Author's reply

You are most welcome. I am having fun with my disclaimers. I got tired of just typing the same old, 'no money was made, I own nothing' deal and started playing with them a bit. Thank you for reading!

obsidianj · 18 January 2008 · Chapter 1: Sam Gamgee, River Hobbit

Oh, this is so cute. I love it. Poor Sam, he knows right enough what is real. Pippin is Pippin, he really should start thinking before saying anything

Author's reply

Thank you! I am very glad that you enjoyed it. Sam's always right isn't he? All that good hobbit sense that he has, how can he be wrong? Thank you for reviewing!

Neilia · 16 January 2008 · Chapter 2: Row, Row, Row, your boat, gently...

Okay, this is great! Imagine, no one else that I can remember thought of the blisters the fellows would have worked up trying to do their part. Loved all the dialogue.

Author's reply

The idea for the blisters was Shirebound's. It was she who came up with this plot bunny. She seems to be giving me lots of interesting ideas for stories. I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you for reading. Good thing you enjoyed the dialogue because without it, I'd have had no story at all this time! hehehe
