Shirebound, this is beautiful. Thank you for highlighting this story to me! I wonder whose were the "furtive, royal hands"... a wise king of Gondor. I love your description of Eagles and singing voices welcoming the sapling.

Author's reply

Thank you. I've enjoyed writing from unusual points of view.

This was a very cool story -- I loved the different POVs. Thanks for writing!

Author's reply

Thank you. These POVs were quite a challenge!

Oh, Shirebound! That's beautiful! I really think this is one of your best! I am re-reading some of my favorites and, of course, your Avalanche is one of them, and it is a delight to see how much your writing style has improved over the years. You are perfecting a skill you already had in great measure - much to my, and I am sure all your readers' delight!

Author's reply

Thank you so much, and I'm just thrilled to hear from you. I'm delighted that you can see progress in my writing over the years. What a lovely compliment. This little series was such a departure for me, and I'm very glad you enjoyed it.

Larner · 23 July 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

Hope for Hope, planted by Hope in hope's promise! Oh, yes!

Author's reply

I like how you say that. These three vignettes were such a joy to write.

Larner · 23 July 2008 · Chapter 2: Lórien

Oh, the joy of the elanor plants as Aragorn and Frodo share their beauty and promise! I love this!

Author's reply

I'm so glad! :)

Larner · 23 July 2008 · Chapter 1: Hollin

Ah--so the Fellowship brings hope to the abandoned stones of a kingdom gone to ruin, that they might one day again find use and the company of beings who will appreciate them. Wonderful, Shirebound.

Author's reply

Thank you so much. It's such a fascinating challenge to bring a voice to the voiceless.

Gentle Hobbit · 26 April 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

Oohh, I do like these very much! I feel the differences of each one, their land, their history, what they see, what is important to them. You don't burden your vignettes with detail, but you say just enough that I want to wander among the trees and perhaps understand a little bit more of their world. Thank you for this silvan trilogy.

Author's reply

what is important to them I like how you say that; that's exactly the distinction I was trying to make. Thank you for reading! :)

Antane · 29 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

An interesting series... Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you, Antane. It was interesting to write.

mistry89 · 29 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

Thank you - These are wonderful, all different (and unusual) povs, and yet all singing the changes. Eerie thought, that such a long view can be grasped. Thank you!

Author's reply

Thank *you*! I'm very glad you enjoyed reading these as much as I enjoyed the challenge of finding these 'voices'. :)

Linda Hoyland · 28 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

These were just lovely and very unusual.

Author's reply

Thank you, Linda. These *were* very unusual for me to write! The ideas just seemed to want to be written.

Halrohir · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

And I am not dissapointed! Another tale from the voiceless, and it is no less than the others. Thank you so very much, for telling me the stories of plant and stone! HALROHIR

Author's reply

Thank you for your lovely comments. I truly enjoyed bringing the 'voices' of these beings to life.

Halrohir · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Lórien

How delightful! The 'elanor' rejoice to Elessar's touch, and remember so much that is lost. Thank you, and on to the next! HALROHIR

Author's reply

I do think that even the most humble and gentle beings would recognize the hands and spirit of the King.

Halrohir · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Hollin

Oh, I did so enjoy reading this one! I like the concept of this and its sister pieces, and I eagerly return to read them all! Thank you, HALROHIR

Author's reply

Thank you very much, Halrohir!

Dreamflower · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

These are so beautiful, Shirebound! The language is poetic and evocative, and they are so different from your usual work--but they are wonderful!

Author's reply

Thank you very much! I agree, they're very different than my "usual", and I really enjoyed bringing them to life.

harrowcat · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

These are lovely Shirebound and I can't pick a fovourite. Just great to come back to from the internet free zone that is my Parents home.

Author's reply

Thank you, and... welcome back! :)

Larner · 26 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

Ah--Yavanna herself delights to see peace and plenty return to this land. And such a joy to think Frodo and Sam have helped see the symbol of the renewed kingdom amd royal line planted at last. Yes!

Author's reply

This image brings me great joy, as well. Thank you so much for reading.

Larner · 26 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Lórien

The sun-stars delight to know the touch of the King-to-be and the regard of the Ring-bearer. Very gentle.

Author's reply

Quiet, lovely things, growing in a peaceful and dream-like land, would have a gentle nature, I think.

Larner · 26 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Hollin

The stones and hills and mountains of Hollin rejoice to anticipate life of sentient beings to return once more. Wonderful viewpoint.

Author's reply

Thank you, Larner. I love to ponder things like this.

Baggins Babe · 26 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

Ah! The White Tree knows her King and is glad to return to the city where she first appeared. Lovely that Frodo and Sam helped to plant it too. A lovely trilogy, Shirebound.

Author's reply

I'm very glad you enjoyed these. And of course I had to bring our "small ones" into every scene. :)

Baggins Babe · 26 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Lórien

Ah yes, and perhaps one of those new lands will be the Shire, and eventually some of their number will adorn a lovely hobbit maid on her wedding day......

Author's reply

Exactly! I don't know *how* the elanor blooms reach the Shire, but I know that they *will*.

Baggins Babe · 26 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Hollin

This is so much part of Tolkien's world, that stone and tree and earth should have a spirit and a life force. Nice that Legolas should acknowledge that and seek to learn from them. How could the stones understand what hobbits need? But at least they know a change is coming.

Author's reply

Thank you, BB. These were unusual perspectives for me to try to portray.

Grey Wonderer · 25 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

I just love this POV that you've done here. Happy New Year and thanks for sharing these.

Author's reply

Thank you so much for reading! I just had to share something to celebrate the occasion. :)

Grey Wonderer · 25 March 2008 · Chapter 2: Lórien

I love new beginnings.

Author's reply

There's always something new to imagine in the Professor's world. :)

Grey Wonderer · 25 March 2008 · Chapter 1: Hollin

Wonderful. This one has such a power to it in a quiet way. Loved it.

Author's reply

Oh, thank you. "Quiet power" is something I love.

meckinock · 25 March 2008 · Chapter 3: Mount Mindolluin

Oh, the Tree! How perfect. This was an absolutely lovely trilogy, Shirebound. All of them so vivid, insightful, and evocative.

Author's reply

I'm so happy you enjoyed these. That must have been a joyous moment not just for Aragorn, but for the Tree itself.
