Raksha The Demon · 17 August 2008 · Chapter 4: The child that is not clean and neat,

It is something of a comedown for the mighty Aragorn Strider Elessar etc., Heir of Isildur, Wielder of the Sword That Was Broken, King of Arnor and Gondor, and Faramir, Steward of Gondor and Prince of Ithilien, both great warriors and rangers, to be so cowed by their wives; but certainly an accurate reflection of married wife - you may have led thousands of men against the Dark Lord, but Valar forbid you come home to the wives with mud on your clothes! Wonder if Eowyn spot-checked the Pelennor for dirt before riding forth to battle upon it. Of course, she was mounted originally, but Windfola ran away. No wonder Eowyn was nervous when facing the Witch-King - I suppose a proper Shieldmaiden doesn't get dirty! Anyway, a funny chapter and a fine conclusion to this charming story.

Many thanks for making me smile with this much appreciated review. It is fun to occasionally write our great heroes as hen pecked husbands!Maybe Eowyn slew the Witch King because he got mud on her clothes?

Larner · 15 August 2008 · Chapter 4: The child that is not clean and neat,

They work hard to make the prince acceptable before returning him to his mother, but take no thought for themselves? Heh! Cute, Linda.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I think our heroes for once are just typical men!I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

inzilbeth · 13 August 2008 · Chapter 4: The child that is not clean and neat,

This is a delightful tale, Linda, and Eldarion is an adorable little boy. It's lovely to read happy stories where nothing terrible happens and Aragorn gets to enjoy the peace he helped ensure. I can't help wondering where Faramir learned to milk a cow! Is there another tale in this perhaps?

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story, and especially young Eldarion,as I've little experience of small boys.I enjoyed writing a happy story for a change. If the Muse ever tells me about the cow,I promise I'll write it down!

“Whoever would have thought that Éowyn slew the Witch King?” Oh, joy! I just absolutely, totally adore your sense of humour. This is wonderful!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted you enjoyed the humour in this tale.It was fun for me to allow Aragorn and faramir to have a good time for once!

Virtuella · 12 August 2008 · Chapter 3: Enough is equal to a feast.

Any excuse not to wash, eh? "Eldarion was silent, pondering whether his chosen career was quite as good as it appeared to be." That gave me the giggles again! Oh, and there's nothing like a nice basin of gruel, preferably made by Serle - do you put these Austen jokes in on purpose?

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I was actually thinking of the "Just William" books!

Virtuella · 12 August 2008 · Chapter 2: A bush suppos’d a bear!

Oh, very nice fluff!

Ah, Gondorians are just not as good at cooking mushrooms as hobbits are! I like the banter between Aragorn and Faramir. You have such a lovely sense of humour.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I always imagine Aragorn and Faramir as fair cooks, but not up to Hobbit standard! I think writing has helped me develop more of a sense of humour,so thank you as my friends rarely say that!

Estelcontar · 9 August 2008 · Chapter 3: Enough is equal to a feast.

What irony! Aragorn and Faramir managed to keep Eldarion clean and forgot all about themselves. And Aragorn is as wise as usual: there's nothing in life that can be compared to happy moments shared with those we love. Well done.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. It is ironic, isn't it that the men forgot about themselves? I'm delighted you enjoyed the story.

You've described such an idylic scene, Linda, that you made me wish to be there camping with them too. I'm glad they're having such a wondrous time. Aragorn and Faramir deserve it.

Raksha The Demon · 19 July 2008 · Chapter 3: Enough is equal to a feast.

Eldarion is certainly having a multitude of new experiences! I wonder if he'll ever become a real Ranger. Looking forward to seeing how things end up.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I imagine that Aragorn would want Eldarion to spend some time as a Ranger when he grows up so he won't be a spoiled and useless prince!

Larner · 19 July 2008 · Chapter 3: Enough is equal to a feast.

Ah, the joys of a camper's breakfast. Good thing Faramir is a skilled man with milking--I finally got the fingering and rhythm right to milk a friend's cow, but would probably take a good hour to strip the cow's udder, I fear. Love Eldarion's growing pleasure as he begins to see the attractions of camping.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I've never tried to milk a cow, I fear, you are braver than I! I guess Faramir will only take enough for their breakfast.I'm pleased you are enjoying the story.

Your Eldarion is a most delightful child, Linda. Aragorn is luck to have such a son. But then, children are in part a reflection of their parents, so, I guess luck hadn't much to do with it. As usual the reviewd story is much improved. As you can see, I've managed to configure my new printer.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I think Eldarion takes after his parents.I'm glad your new printer is working.Raksha and Deandra have helped me improve the story,so I'm glad you liked it.

Ah, if all night time scares were so easily solved! I think Eldarion is haveing a good time in spite of his scare! I know Aragorn and Faramir are! Yes, those men from the White company would not have lasted five minutes 10 years ago! More please, Lynda

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review and welcome to my stories.I think Eldarion is enjoying himself too and he could not be in better company!

Tithenaru · 10 July 2008 · Chapter 2: A bush suppos’d a bear!

I enjoyed this tale. "I have waited so long for a child of my own to take out in the wilds with me and share all the things that fathers and sons do!" This phrase struck a chord, but as a mother I can also see Arwens POV - it is hard to let go sometimes. Good to see they have survived so far and the with more success at hunting! Looking forward to the next installment. Tithenaru

Great stuff Linda. It actually bodes well that such a young boy spotted signs of other people around him!

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I think Eldarion will make a good Ranger one day!

Raksha The Demon · 10 July 2008 · Chapter 2: A bush suppos’d a bear!

An enjoyable romp through the uncharted waters of parenting; reminding Aragorn that fatherhood, like rangering, involves frequent journeys through uncharted territories. Only in Middle-earth could a kid have reason to fear dragons! A pleasant and entertaining story.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed this chapter. At least the children aroud us don't need to fear dragons!

Larner · 9 July 2008 · Chapter 2: A bush suppos’d a bear!

I was wondering if it was a group of guards he was seeing signs of, and am pleased I guessed aright, as did Faramir. Yes, it does appear the guards do need more training exercises on stealth! Heh! And now we have a small boy who is asleep! Heh!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. You did well to guess what the 'dragon' was.

Estelcontar · 14 June 2008 · Chapter 0: Hunger and sleepiness recur

Linda, as usual, the reviewed version is improved. How so like Aragorn and Faramir to spare the doe and do with blackberries hazelnuts and unripe mushrooms. You made us feel how content they are with the simple life of Rangers.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked it!I just could not imagine Aragorn or faramir killing the doe.I think they both take the greatest joy in simple things.

Larner · 14 June 2008 · Chapter 0: Hunger and sleepiness recur

Ah, a marvelous--and too believable--start. They wished to hunt and fish and live off the land, and find they get little in return--save for the glory of the night. That should perhaps be a shooting star or a falling star rather than a comet, but otherwise it is perfect! Yes, to wish upon a falling star has ever been deemed lucky.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you are enjoying this. I thought even Kings and Stewards must have frustrating days at times! I've changed "comet" to "shooting star" as that was what I meant. Thanks for pointing it out.

harrowcat · 13 June 2008 · Chapter 0: Hunger and sleepiness recur

Great fun Linda. I agree with Faramir about shooting the doe. A day or two on mushrooms etc won't hurt the figure! Query, (not criticism,) can mushrooms be 'unripe'?

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you liked it!I have been researching the mushrooms, but now fancy that is an old wives'tale I heard when young!

Raksha The Demon · 13 June 2008 · Chapter 0: Hunger and sleepiness recur

An enjoyable tale of two men of high estate with a love of simple things and a history as Rangers. How nice that Faramir and Aragorn have each other, as kindred spirits, to keep company in the wilds.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm pleased you enjoyed the story. Aragorn and Faramir are indeed fortunate to have one another!
