Oh, this one had me chuckling! Rohirrim on motor bikes, I can just see it! Well at least Elfhelm has his prorities straight, get to Mundberg and get his stuffed olives! Senator Faramir, eh! and peace talks with Mordor breaking down, why does this all sound familiar!? Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

Thank you! Once I thought of the motorbike, I felt it was a really cool idea for a fic.

Such beautiful reminders of grievous losses! Beautiful indeed, Virtuella!

Author's reply

Thank you, dear!

I saw the new posting was poetry and about trolls and nearly skipped the story entirely. I am so very glad I read your, uh,, rendition of a favorite song. Very clever! The downside is, I will be singing the tune in my head the rest of the day!

Author's reply

Thanks, glad you liked it.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 15 March 2012 · Chapter 12: Troll Courtship

Virtuella, This was hysterical! I read it four or five times already, but I had to read it again, and review. Poor troll! Hehe...you and Dreamflower should start the Society of Cruelty to Innocent Trolls for the Sake of Comedy, or something! Well done! Kaylee

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm glad I made you laugh.

Larner · 12 March 2012 · Chapter 12: Troll Courtship

Frogs have nothing on trolls when it comes to courting, right? Heh! Caught thirteen of the buggers, plus a burrahobbit, whatever that is; but a Wizard did indeed manage to outfox the three of them! Darling! And again, good to hear from you!

Author's reply

Thank you! I hope to be around more now.

curiouswombat · 12 March 2012 · Chapter 12: Troll Courtship

Wonderful - uh-huh!

Author's reply

Thank you. :D

Antane · 11 March 2012 · Chapter 1: The Gift of Ilúvatar

What an interesting story! It could well have been this way. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Thank you. :)

Oh, I had a lot of fun singing this to the tune! What a back-story.... There's a typo in the verse that begins, So Bill got his two best mates roped in. The initial "The" should be "They."

Author's reply

Ah, thanks, I fixed that. Glad you had fun.

Andrea · 26 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

That was beautiful! It needed a hobbit song to awake the earth itself and add power to the protection against the Ringwraiths. And Pippin was perfect for the job :-)

Author's reply

Thank you, I guess he would be.

ellie · 25 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

that was cool!

Author's reply

Thank you.

curiouswombat · 21 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

What a lovely idea - the sheltering Elven song, strengthened by the hobbit's song of their land in that way - absolutely beautiful.

Author's reply

Thank you, glad you like it.

Ellynn · 21 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

Oh, this is so wonderful! I never thought of this event this way, but now that you wrote it - yes, it makes perfect sense that the songs of the elves served as protection from the nazgul. And it also makes a lot of sense that hobbit-song helps in protection, too; after all, they are the ones who are really connected to that land. Beautifully written.

Author's reply

Thank you. Somehow, I thought there had to be more to it than just a bit of sing-song...

Dreamflower · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

Oh how perfect this is! I always thought that Gildor was not nearly so aloof as he appeared to be. I love the way the Elves use song and starlight to keep the Ringwraiths at bay. I love the fact that they were alerted to the trouble by that random fox! *grin* and I adore Pippin waking during the singing and knowing right off that there's a problem. And the song was beautiful! That is truly a hobbit song of the Shire! Thanks so much for sharing it with us!!

Author's reply

Thank you. I've always thought the hobbits get away from the Nazgul far too easily. The Nazgul are really awfully easy to beat...

Larner · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

How wonderful to hear from you again--it has been a time! And what a wonderful thing--to use the voice and song of a Hobbit to augment their own power and so keep the Nazgul at bay! Perfect!

Author's reply

Thank you. I think a song about bramble pie would really upset a Nazgul, hehehe.

Linda Hoyland · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

What a lovely story! It explains such a lot about this mysterious encounter with the Elves.

Author's reply

Thank you. I felt it needed a bit of fleshing out. ;-)

Addie71 · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

Absolutely lovely.

Author's reply

Thank you.

harrowcat · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

Great storytelling and a wonderful explanation of why the elves didn't stay until the hobbits woke. Thank you for sharing.

Author's reply

Thank you. As I wrote, I found various things that needed an explanation.

mews1945 · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

Truly lovely story. I loved the way the earthy joys of the hobbit song wove into the songs of the Elves.

Author's reply

Thank you. I love meself a hobbit song. ;-)

Elflingimp · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

That was beautiful! Hugs The Imp

Author's reply

Thank you.

eiluj · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

Oh, that fox! I think this is the third fic I've seen him feature in. Here he gets his revenge against the Nazgûl who rode him down in one of those other fics.... Lovely Bilbo poem. Good job on explaining the elven magic.

Author's reply

Thank you. The fox is odd, isn't it? A rather unexpected change of perspective, and the only time it happens in LOTR, as far as I know, that Tolkien takes the perspective of an animal.

shirebound · 20 February 2012 · Chapter 11: A Trusty Tune

The land under their feet had awoken and fed its strength to their shield. What a wonderful story! I just love it. I feel warm all over at the sweet star-magic and concern of Gildor and his folk, and the gentle, subtle, iron-strong earth-magic of the hobbits.

Author's reply

Thank you. I just thought, let's write something about Gildor, and this came out.

Darkover · 19 October 2011 · Chapter 10: Echoes

Dear Virtuella: This is a wonderful story, beautiful in the descriptions and imagery you have employed, and quite emotional, too. It is almost poetic, and you write your descriptions of Faramir's life--especially his love and his future of and with Eowyn. Thank you for writing and posting this fine story. Sincerely, Darkover

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the poetry of the piece.

Raksha The Demon · 17 September 2011 · Chapter 10: Echoes

A beautiful birthday piece; each paragraph an echo. Finduilas cast a long shadow, preserved in the tides and seas and waters and the sea lavender and the blood of her sons, one that lingers into the Fourth Age. The language and descriptions are exquisite; and I love the connection between Boromir and Eowyn. The title is perfect, too!

Author's reply

Thank you, and thank you for your editorial advice!

Linda Hoyland · 16 September 2011 · Chapter 10: Echoes

Thank you so much! This was such a lovely story and a wonderful surprise. It is so poetic and thought provoking and a perfect companion for the story you wrote me about Aragorn.

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm so glad you're happy with this. :)

Ellynn · 15 September 2011 · Chapter 10: Echoes

Awww, this is so beautiful! :) It's hard to choose, but I think I like most the last one. You did a great job, dear. It is a wonderful birthday present and I'm sure Linda will love it.

Author's reply

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
