Really love the way the relationship between Finrod and his parents, particularly his father, develops. And it seems Amarië is finally coming around, too. About time, if you ask me.
*lol* Now, the end of the chapter sounds very familiar ;-)
Thank you so much for another wonderful story! I've enjoyed it very much.

· Chapter 36: Lady Amarië Returns
Ah, so Aldurilmon's attempt at having Finrod's ruling overturned has backfired? Good *eg*
Well, I can't really blame Finrod for not being too happy about Amarië's return, considering how badly they got along before her departure. And I can't say I was impressed with the way she inquired first about his more 'elflingish' actions.
Need I to mention that I enjoyed that horse case? I'd say Finrod made the right decision; if Caliondo can't keep his stallion under control, he will have to bear the consequences. (Though I know from experience there *are* horses who get out of everything - can you imagine a farm with half a dozen of that sort?)
Now I have to agree with Rúmilion; Amari&eum; could have been nicer. That bit about Finrod still being a Reborn was uncalled for and has nothing to do with the fairness of his rule in this case. And Rúmilion's parting remark was *so* true! That's what I was thinking often enough - why should Finrod want to marry her when all she does is belittling him?
Author's reply
I thought you would enjoy the horse case, Kitty, as I'm sure anyone who owns one would have. *grin* We had one or two such horses (and one particular pony) on the farm ourselves, so it's not too uncommon an experience.
Amarië has a lot of growing up to do herself, but we know that in the end she does. Her attitude isn't unique. How often do we look at a person (perhaps from high school) and all we remember about them was what a jerk/idiot/snob,etc. they were and we see them that way now, years afterwards, and don't take into consideration that perhaps over the years they've changed? Happens all the time even within families.

You certainly did cook up an interesting first case for Finrod to judge. It was fun to follow his interrogation and final judgment. Certain people should have gained some respect for him from that; he certainly went to the bottom of the problem and made sure both parties got what they deserved - or rather, all three parties. I quite enjoyed this chapter.
Author's reply
Thanks, Kitty. I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter and Finrod's first case. I'm sure that by the end of the court session many people were re-evaluating their opinions about him and seeing him in a whole different light.

Amarië should have praised Finrod for showing such wisdom; instead she opened her mouth and inserted her foot in it. Will she never learn? I don't blame him for not wanting to marry her.
Author's reply
Ack! I can't believe I missed seeing this review when it first was posted, Tari. I've been re-reading this story and making some minor corrections and looking over reviews, which is how I saw I hadn't replied to yours. Mea culpa. At any rate, you are correct about Amarië and we do know that eventually she does learn -- the hard way.

This was a really enjoyable story and such a nice way to tie the two stories together. I really enjoyed reading it, even though I did a lousy job reviewing. Too much going on in RL right now, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate all of your efforts and thank you for sharing your gift with us! :)

Hi, Radbooks. I'm glad you enjoyed this story and I appreciate you letting me know. I was very happy to share this tale with everyone as I know some people wondered just what Finrod was up to while waiting for Glorfindel to join him. and now you know. *grin* Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

Finally!
And now life in Tirion will never be the same again. ;-)
I have really enjoyed this story, and I wonder what is going to take its place...
Author's reply
No, Tirion will never be the same again, nor will the rest of Aman. *grin* I'm glad you've enjoyed this story and I appreciate your reading and reviewing right along. Thank you. As to what will take its place.... eventually I will be posting the Darkening story sometime later in the year. In the meantime, I plan to post a Vairë's Loom story once a month and perhaps the Muse will inspire me to write some shorter multi-chapter pieces, but that remains to be seen. At least you still have Elf, Interrupted to entertain you in the meantime. *grin*

I've been very remiss in my reviewing - can only plead work pressures. But I have eagerly awaited every chapter of this story and have really enjoyed seeing Finrod mature. The story stands in it sown right in many ways, but also works wonderfully as back story to Glorfindel. I love your characterisations of the elves and Ainur and how you weave Quenya & Sindarin into the stories. Just wish i could write as well as you do.
Now waiting to see how Glorfi fares on his quest for Elwing & Earendil....and what story you start to post next.
Author's reply
Hi Arwen. I'm glad you've been reading and enjoying this story all along even if you haven't been able to review as often as you'd like. Thanks for taking the time to let me know. I really appreciate it. As to what story I will be posting next, I will continue to post a story to Vairë's Loom once a month and I do have a major project I'm working on right now but it's not quite ready for posting, but I hope it will be by summer. I may do some shorter works in between but that's entirely up to the Muse.

Listen to your Amme Finrod, they usually know what they are talking about. Amarie has to accept who you are now and let go of her memories of you as you were and you need to learn about her again. You are not the same people!
So now they are adding Glorfi to the mix!
Run, everybody, run!
Glorfi has arrived and Aman will never be the same again, neither will a few Vala and Maia!(Snort!!!)

P.S. At least Vornodil did not name his horse Olo!:<)

Hi Lynda. That's true, neither Finrod nor Amarië are the same person they were a millennia ago (who is? *grin*) and we know that eventually they come to terms with that. No idea what Glorfindel was doing, but it had to be a doozy if Maranwë was swearing in Valarin. *LOL* And no, there is never a dull moment for any of the Valar when the elves are around, especially for Námo and especially when the elf is Glorfindel.

· Chapter 36: Lady Amarië Returns
I wonder what Caliondo was thinking? Was he simply negligent or did he hope to acquire either the stud fee or the foal?
I'm not surprised Finrod's having such trouble remembering why he loves Amarië, I'm having trouble figuring out how he could have loved her in the first place! Pretty good for a Reborn? What's that supposed to mean?
I'm glad Finrod is standing firm on the braid issue. And good for Rúmilion. He is right to stand up for his friend.
Author's reply
I'm sure Caliondo wasn't thinking very clearly which is why he got himself in trouble.
Amarië has a certain picture of Finrod stuck in her mind and she is finding it difficult to reconcile that picture with the reality in front of her. I know from personal experience that that happens a lot. How many of us have one picture of someone we knew a long time ago in our mind that does not jive with the person they are today? It's hard to let go of preconceived notions of how people should be.
Finrod is confident enough to begin standing firm on several things, and not just the braids, and his parents are wise enough to allow him this. Rúmilion is a good friend to Finrod as are his two cousins. It's no wonder that years from now they will take Sador under their wing.

Finrod's new confidence looks so good on him and he stood up to his father about the braids, too. I'm glad of that.
I love his new friends the way they stand by him in front of Amarie and let her know exactly what they think of her behaviour. And Finrod was just starting to reconsider her, too, and she had to go and ruin it by being such a disdainful little so and so. Is there a line for folks who want to slap her for being mean to Finrod?
Author's reply
I'm glad you like Finrod's *new look*. He's learning to be more confident about himself and certainly the success of his court judgments have gone a long way towards boosting his morale. And I am sure there is a line for folks wanting to slap the elleth silly... just take a number. *grin*

She is beginning to realize, I think, that he is as he has become in the millenia of separation they have known. If she would have his love as she did once, she must begin to accept him as he is NOW, and find within that which she loved then.
And it does appear that the commoner may have conspired to have his stallion cover his neighbor's mare! Heh! No wonder the ruling!
Author's reply
Yes, she is, though it will take... er... divine intervention before she comes to the truth of it. *heh!!*
As for any conspiracy on the commoner's part.... that may well be true even if he will never admit it.

· Chapter 36: Lady Amarië Returns
Really, Amarië, that is not the way to go if you want to catch your ellon! You will catch more flies with honey than with vinegar – and if you _stay_ bitchy, you are likely to see ambitious parents bringing their daughters to Court. To be sure, Finrod is unlikely to enjoy being hunted, although unless you start being nice to Finrod, he might actually find he enjoys the company of the avid huntresses more than yours!
The dispute about the horses was quite amusing. And it was definitely the sort of case where Finrod would levy a “waste of my time” fine.
Do you want to bet that Caliondo is _not_ going to let his stock wander in the future?
Author's reply

It is hard for anyone to figure out why things happen the way they do. Each person needs his own time for healing and no two times are the same. Perhaps this will teach Findrod a little bit about patience. (Something I need to learn myself.)

Finrod is quite shrewd in his judgement. I think he was quite fair in his ruling and sent a very interesting message we heard echoes of previously: don't waste the ruler's time.
I'm proud of Finrod. I really like the roles his friends are playing now supporting his court.

Finrod shows himself to be the wise person he truly was and is and I think he is beginning to believe it about himself again as well. And having friends whom he trusts there cheering him on, so to speak, must have helped him enormously.

· Chapter 35: Holding Court
Chapters like this leave me wondering if perhaps the Valar do not know as much about the Children as they think they know, particularly in matters concerning personal dignity. They seem not to notice how insulting such heavy handling is. Why did Finrod have to be sent home that way? Was it absolutely critical for Finrod to come home in time to judge that particular case? Were the eggs poisoned or something, so they needed to be destroyed before they got to the table? Did everyone come to breakfast in need of a good shock?
Perhaps teleporting is so natural to them that they do not realize that it disturbs those to whom it is not natural.
Finrod's solution was fitting and neither of the plaintiffs are likely to repeat their mistakes anytime soon. It's good to see the wisdom that Finrod was so famous for in his first life.
Author's reply
Hi, Parmalokwen. Oh, I think you have it right about the Valar. They don't know the Children quite as well as they think they do which is why they sometimes mess up. But they're hearts are in the right place. As to why they sent Finrod home as they did instead of the normal way... I suppose it's because they could and for no other reason.
I'm glad you liked Finrod's solution to the first case. It shows that his wisdom has not entirely failed him as he feared.
Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate your comments very much.

A good start for Finrod. And I am sure he found having his friend beside him a comfort.
A rather resounding defeat for Aldurilmon. Though what I suspect will be smarting most, is Finrod's recommendation to the guild that his apprentices should be evaluated to determine if they are receiving the proper instruction.
I suspect after a few judgements where people get fined for wasting Finrod's time, word will get around and people will get more careful - and perhaps settle without going to court over their disputes.
But what I liked most in this chapter was Ondoher's opinion on what should be done with the statue :-)
Author's reply
No doubt you are correct about that, Sunny. If people realize that Finrod is nobody's fool they will think twice about bothering him with inconsequential matters.
I'm glad you liked Ondoher's opinion on what should be done with the statue. I thought it was a nice touch, myself, and I wouldn't be surprised if Finrod supplied the sledgehammer. *LOL* Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.
