Read and enjoyed this. Just thought I'd review. You do have a couple spelling errors though.

*giggles* Pippin may have been mistaken about the boating, but he's got the flattery down pat! Incident with the sheep costume? :)

Author's reply

Yes, Pippin is very charming, isn't he? The incident with the sheep costume is from "Merry had a Little Lamb". It's an older fiction of mine. http://www.storiesofarda.com/chapterlistview.asp?SID=5512

I know where he'd like to put them but I don't think there's room in there and I'm not sure we could hold Mr. Merry down long enough to finish the job," Sam muttered. *snort* *gurgle* *gasp* Merry does know exactly how to push Frodo's buttons, doesn't he? And trust Sam to make an observation like this! As for Sheep Month in the Tooklands...........!!!

Author's reply

Oh, I am so glad you enjoyed this. For some reason, I could just hear Sam saying that. hehehe And Sheep Month just sounds like a Tookland event to me. (I secretly want a sheep month anyone.)

“Sounds that way,” Saradoc nodded. “I feel especially singled out since you and I are now drifting aimlessly in a boat.” I have always liked Saradoc and this remark just makes me love him more - priceless! Loved this, GW. Diamond's horror upon learning that Pip can swim, Merry's indignation that Pip has taken his boat......... And of course Diamond knows how to hook a future Thain. Brilliant! *giggles*

Saradoc is one of my favorite characters for some reason. I am constantly putting him into my stories. Thank you for the lovely review and I am very glad that you enjoyed it.

Larner · 29 October 2009 · Chapter 1: A Long Walk Down a Short Pier

Ah, yes--she knows what she's after, and has hooked it firmly! Delightful! And Merry certainly appreciates Tooks in some ways better than Pippin does! Thanks for a wonderful giggle!

Author's reply

You are most welcome. I'm very glad you enjoyed it. I do think Merry has a special insight into Tooks thanks to his Mother and Pippin. hehehe

Larner · 29 October 2009 · Chapter 0: Hobbit Month

Ah, but trust Merry to see the illogic of it for Hobbiton and the Shire! And love Frodo's temper tamtrum!

Author's reply

Merry was thinking this one over entirely too much. He needed to enjoy it, or maybe he enjoyed picking on Frodo a bit here. In any case I figure Frodo will celebrate anyway just as soon as he calms down. LOL

"Now, I’m going back to Brandy Hall and try to forget that you can swim." Awww! That's true love ;-) Great story! I especially enjoyed Merry's and Saradoc's commentary!

Author's reply

Thank you. I suspect that as a Took and someone not comfortable around water, Diamond was better off not thinking about Pippin swimming. LOL It really must be true love. I always enjoy writing Saradoc so it was fun to have him and Merry commenting on Pippin's situation. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Andrea · 28 October 2009 · Chapter 0: Hobbit Month

Sheep Month? They'd love that one in the Tooklands. LOL!!! Although Merry can sometimes be really annoying with his logical thinking, his arguments are still highly comical :-) Sheep Month - what a splendid idea!

Author's reply

I know! There really should be a Sheep Month! I'm glad you agree. LOL Thanks for reading and laughing.

Thoroughly enjoyable. I love Merry and Saradoc's observations on Tooks and courting and lasses. And Diamond certainly knows how to handle her hobbit.

Author's reply

Thank you. I think Diamond will always have the upper hand in that relationship. : )

Dreamflower · 28 October 2009 · Chapter 1: A Long Walk Down a Short Pier

LOLOLOLOLOLOL! *howl*guffaw*giggle*chortle*chuckle*snort*wipes eyes!* OK, this was just too funny! I loved the way you intertwined the two conversations-- but my favorite part was the reactions to Pippin's revelation that he could swim! That was a hoot! And Merry and Saradoc's running commentary the whole time... Great story, GW! I love your Pippin and Diamond.

Author's reply

Thank you. I love the way you review with sound-words. It makes me feel like someone is in the room laughing. Then again, maybe I'm just hearing things. hehehe I had fun letting Saradoc and Merry do the commentary as if it were a sporting event and I always enjoy writing Saradoc. For some reason, I have always thought that if Pippin really could swim, it would be a source of some scandal among the Tooks since most hobbits were not very fond of the water. I could imagine Paladin trying to keep the topic from coming up and I could also see Diamond being completely shocked by it. Glad you enjoyed this one and thanks so much for the lovely review!

Dreamflower · 28 October 2009 · Chapter 0: Hobbit Month

Merry is such a smart-aleck! But I would bet if it were "Brandybuck Month" he'd be all for it! Poor Frodo! Actually, I think as much as hobbits love a party, they'd enjoy "Hobbit Month" even if it didn't make any sense.

Author's reply

I think Merry just enjoyed getting one over on Frodo. LOL And if Frodo does finish his Hobbit Month plans, I am guessing that Merry will be the first one to arrive at the party. Thanks for reading!

shirebound · 28 October 2009 · Chapter 1: A Long Walk Down a Short Pier

“Diamond may not know anything about boating, but she’s a figured out exactly how to fish.” What a great punchline! :D

Author's reply

Thank you! As always, I was a bit punchy when I wrote this. Thanks for reviewing and I'm glad you liked it!

harrowcat · 28 October 2009 · Chapter 1: A Long Walk Down a Short Pier

This is brilliant and absolutely delightful GW. Will we get to see Merry's retribution for Pippin planning to use his boat? Loved the relationships you show, especially Merry and is Dad.

Author's reply

Thank you. As always, I love the reviews that contain the word 'brilliant' in them. I don't know if I'll get around to Merry's retribution or not but I am giving it some thought. I have always had a thing for writing Saradoc. I don't know what it is about him but I do enjoy writing him. I'm glad you enjoyed this and thank you for reading!

Lindelea · 27 October 2009 · Chapter 1: A Long Walk Down a Short Pier

LOL! “I feel especially singled out since you and I are now drifting aimlessly in a boat.” I do like Saradoc. Got that dry sense of humour. *sigh* You can lead a Took to water, but you can't make 'em sink.

Author's reply

For some reason, I have always enjoyed writing Saradoc Brandybuck. I'm glad you enjoyed him in this one. Not only does Diamond not have both oars in the water this time, she doesn't even know what oars are! Tooks and boats just don't seem to mix. Thanks for reading! Oh, and the last line of your review would have made an excellent title for this one. : )

Lindelea · 27 October 2009 · Chapter 0: Hobbit Month

Well... you know what they say about Brandybucks. (Only not in polite company.) Enjoyed having one of your prologues pop up at a time when I actually have a few moments to steal for reading! Just call me a burglar.

Author's reply

If you're a burglar then you are in good company. I hear that Bilbo Baggins is in that line of work though he tries to keep it quiet. Glad you could stop by and thanks for reviewing. I won't tell the Brandybucks that folks are talking about them. I don't want any trouble with the Master's son. : )
