Excellent--they found him in good time--and the betrothal is officially ON!

Author's reply

Yes, it is, lol, and more of that in another story...at some point in the future. ;-) Thanks for stopping by, Larner! :-)

Larner · 20 September 2010 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

At least he isn't trying to go alone.

Author's reply

No, though I think being just out of his tweens, Pippin might still have one or two impetuous moments up his sleeve, but not today. Today, he carefull weighs his options.

Larner · 20 September 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

What a thing to forget! Poor Degger. And it does sound questionable that Draco's certain he wants to get married. Heh!

Author's reply

I think the part of my personality that the character Degger inherited is getting flustered easily, lol. And when I get flustered, I forget things. :-P

Larner · 20 September 2010 · Chapter 0: Out of Hiding

I appear to have missed this the first time through, but intend to read it now. Thanks so!

Author's reply

Well, thank you for stopping by! :-)

cathleen · 3 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Pippinfan! How wonderful to see you back!! *Hugs* I enjoyed your story and I hope you'll have more for us soon.

Author's reply

Cathleen! It's wonderful to see you, too! Thank you for stopping by to read -- and I am working on something right now, but it won't be ready for a long while. Later this year, perhaps.

Larner · 3 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Hooray! And brothers do tend to be protective of their sister! Heh! Bless all of them!

Author's reply

Yes, bless them! :-) I couldn't agree more -- in my world of hobbits, although siblings do squabble amongst themselves, it is a lad's duty to protect his sister's or mother's honor. It was good to see you, Larner! Thanks for reading!

Larner · 3 January 2010 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Pippin now appreciates what responsibility entails. Hope they find him without too much damage!

Author's reply

As for me, I imagine Pippin learned what responsibility meant while in Service to his King during the Quest. But I thank you for your comment -- my Muse is getting off her lazy duff now, lol.

Larner · 3 January 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Ah--the vagaries of the lovelorn! Now I'll have to read the other story on LJ.

Author's reply

True, but we've all been there at one time or another. ;-)

Llinos · 3 January 2010 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

"The Lochinvar Factor" is a benchmark of my own for girls who aren't sure if the bloke they fancy is really "The One"! IMHO, most romantic poem ever written. Sir Walter Scott - read it! http://www.rampantscotland.com/poetry/blpoems_lochinvar.htm

Author's reply

Wow. I hope others click onto this link -- what a beautiful poem! I wholly agree with you; *very* romantic! I understood your previous post to be a compliment, but now I see it much more so. Thanks for sharing the Lochinvar Factor. :-)

Llinos · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Ah now, as usual Merry has got it right! Never propose in public, otherwise you're not really giving your intended a choice! You might well get a "pity yes", which isn't really the point! Still, happy ending - happy story - v.good!

Author's reply

Well, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. This was a nice treat to wake up to this morning. Hope to see you down on the Farms soon!

Llinos · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Ah well, Pippin shouldn't blame himself, he did try to stop him. But I like that Degger has what I call "The Lochinvar Factor"! Always a good quality in Man or Hobbit!

Author's reply

"The Lochinvar Factor"...interesting! Now I'm the curious one!

Llinos · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Really should have put the "closed" sign up! Now see what's happened. I suspect he should also listen to Pippin's warning. Let's see...

Author's reply

LOL, yes, he should have! I bet he's learnt his lesson. ;-) True, Degger should heed Pip's warning, but...let's just say he's being single-minded at the moment. ;-)

Llinos · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 0: Out of Hiding

Well it's good to see you writing a Yule tale! Always enjoy a good Yulefest!

Author's reply

How lovely to see you here! With some nudging from GW I've come out from hiding for a brief moment. :-)

MarigoldG · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

I liked the way that Paladin tested Pippin in this chapter and the way that Merry observed, understanding just what Paladin was doing. And of course Merry will go with Pippin!

Author's reply

Thanks! Although I played on the idea of Pippin receiving "formal" lessons as a child, I can't imagine that there would be formal training for Thainship -- nor Master of the Hall, other than what the incumbents passed down. :-)

MarigoldG · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

It's great how fervent Degger is! And I like the way that you demonstrate how close he and Pippin are!

Author's reply

Hullo! (((Marigold))) It's wonderful to see you! I do see Pippin and Degger as being close, however, Merry and Pippin will always be that much closer. :-)

marigoldg · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

It's lovely to see a story by you, T! It's been ages! Very nice to see Degger again and I am so happy at how things are turning out for him in his life! Hope to see more stories from you soon!

Author's reply

I'm glad you enjoyed the story! I think this was GW's attempt to pull me out of hiding, lol. I will likely return again this year, but I don't know when. I do hope to get more reading in, though. I owe you a nice long letter -- or email! Thanks for stopping by to read. :-)

Garnet Took · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

So great to see a story from you again.:) I really need to find and read "Hope" again. This was a sweet Yule tale. So nice to see degger and Pippin, et al as adults.

Author's reply

And it's great to hear from you, too! I gave you credit in ch. 1. ;-) Thanks for catching that! Even at 8 o'clock I was knackered, lol. I enjoyed writing them as adults, but I enjoy writing Pippin at any age. :-) GW found the Challenge story, so I posted the link in the prologue and temporarily in the 3rd chapter. Thanks for stopping by to read!

harrowcat · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Ah.....lovely!

Author's reply

Thanks, Harrowcat! :-) Nice to see you!

harrowcat · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 0: Out of Hiding

How lovely to hear from you. Looking forward to a few minutes to indulge in this story. Happy Christmas and new Year rolled into one.

Author's reply

I know what you mean about the few minutes! :-) Thank you for stopping by and a Happy Christmas and New Year to you, too!

Grey Wonderer · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Oh I just love this! I love the way Degger proposed in the snow in the middle of his own rescue and I love that his bride-to-be followed the search party in secret. I also enjoyed how you worked a bit of teasing in between Merry and Pippin during the romance. Thank you for this lovely Yule gift! It's a great read to start off the new Year with. I hope you will find time to write more this year my dear friend.

Author's reply

I hope so, too. :-) I also liked the idea of Degger just doing the proposal right there in front of his friends. His bride-to-be wouldn't do anything less, but that all will come out in the telling of another story. ;-) Gotta have that banter, lol. Glad you liked your gift!

Grey Wonderer · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

I enjoyed the way Paladin handled that. I like that he let Pippin reason it all out for himself. I also thought Merry did a very good job of stepping in without actually spoiling Paladin's lesson. Now I do hope they find Degger and soon. Your snow storm seems to have turned into a blizzard!

Author's reply

They don't get much snow, so anything is considered a blizzard there, lol. I just imagined a steady snowfall. :-) I won't go into the psychology here, but I like the idea of Paladin's transference of his office to Pippin to be a smoothe one, and one that Pippin really benefits from. You'll see the story about that sometime this year. ;-) See you in the next chapter...

Grey Wonderer · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Oh, this is very good indeed. I love the excitement here and already we have a bit of a cliff-hanger. I've missed your stories so much and reading this first part reminds me of why. I loved the teasing between Pippin and Degger at the door and I like all of the little touches you put into the story. On to the next part!

Author's reply

There aren't as many little touches as I'd have liked, but as I mentioned before, my Muse was a little stiff and out of shape. More next time. :-) I do like for my hobbits to banter, but I'm no comparison to you -- you're good at it! I always laugh my arse off when I read of your hobbits bantering. Glad you're liking it. :-)

Grey Wonderer · 2 January 2010 · Chapter 0: Out of Hiding

Yes! I took a long nap and when I woke up, this was here! I can't wait to read it so I'm not going to. I'm going to read my Yule gift right now.

Author's reply

LOL, we're a couple of kids in a candy store, you and I.

Dreamflower · 1 January 2010 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Aww...It's so good to see Degger again! What a nice little romance for him, and a bit of an adventure! I like this very much. And I'm glad to see hobbits from you again! I hope that maybe we *will* see some more soon!

Author's reply

You're so sweet, Dreamflower! I really meant for Pippin to have centre stage, but the Muse went in Degger's direction. Pippin will get his day soon enough, though. ;-) I have so missed writing, but even more than that, I've missed reading yours and all the stories of my dear freinds here in this community. Rest assured, I'll scrape together the time to write, but in the meantime I'll be reading. Thank you for stopping by to read!
