Happy new year to you, Larner. May I ask & request you to do a short fic on Boronaur the heroic smith of Rivendell sometime soon? Would love to learn more about this backstory, especially of him telling Aragorn the story of how the elvensmith built Elendil's armour. Thanks

Author's reply

I will try to do so once I'm done with "Enter the Ranger," on which I'm working at the moment. Thanks so for the request!

Andrea · 26 November 2016 · Chapter 85: Memories of Cleansing

I remember when my tears burned my heart. Who could have realized how they can free one to know true hope once more? Beautiful! Weeping is indeed very helpful to get rid of bad feelings.

Author's reply

There are tears and then there are tears, and at least he has the chance to know the good ones. Thank you so much!

Freyalyn · 25 November 2016 · Chapter 85: Memories of Cleansing

Lovely.

Author's reply

Thanks!

Antane · 23 November 2016 · Chapter 85: Memories of Cleansing

Beautiful - I love how Nienna came to help him and how he found healing and cleansing. Happy Thanksgiving! Grateful for you and all my LOTR friends! Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

And we are grateful for you as well. Thank you so! I believe all of the Valar were joyful to give him easing and peace as he could receive it.

harrowcat · 23 November 2016 · Chapter 85: Memories of Cleansing

"Not all tears are an evil." So beautifully expressed. Lovely Larner.

Author's reply

Gandalf encapsulated it so deftly. And thank you, Liz. Love to all your family there.

Garnet Took · 2 August 2016 · Chapter 84: The Return to the Light of Day

That was beautifully written, Larner. Been a while since I reviewed anything here. Real Life has been crazy.

Author's reply

Oh, thank you so! Having been through my own bouts of REAL LIFE gone berserk, I can appreciate you having similar circumstances. Good luck and God bless and keep you through it.

Andrea · 30 July 2016 · Chapter 84: The Return to the Light of Day

That was exactly the right thing to do. His compassion is what distinguishes Frodo from many others. But if I imagine how Lobelia must have looked like at that moment I think that even Bilbo would have forgotten all his animosities against the S.-B.s and would have reacted like Frodo.

Author's reply

Frodo responded to his experiences by becoming filled with compassion and caring for others, quite the opposite of Saruman. As for Bilbo reacting similarly, I suspect you are right. He was good hearted, after all.

Andrea · 30 July 2016 · Chapter 83: Momentary Rest with Thoughts of Tomatoes

Only I’d guess as It still don’t have the proper measure of you yet. It don’t realize, even now, just how strong you are, there in your heart. Wonderful! Sam is great!

Author's reply

Oh, isn't he though? Thank you so!

Lindelea · 25 July 2016 · Chapter 84: The Return to the Light of Day

Oh, wonderfully done. The details, Griffo's thoughts, Frodo's gentleness, Lobelia's simple question. You brought me to tears.

Author's reply

I'm so glad you liked it, Lindelea! And to know it moved you so is the greatest satisfaction. I'm still awaiting both the further adventures of Bill, as well as more of Thorn and Thain as well as a certain Bolger/Took family. Will be your way the end of August, first of September for Meesh's 67th birthday. How we do get on with age! Heh!

Tari · 25 July 2016 · Chapter 84: The Return to the Light of Day

Child? I love it.

Author's reply

How much older than she he must have felt at that moment, seeking to reassure her that there was still a day to step out of the darkness to enjoy.

Antane · 23 July 2016 · Chapter 84: The Return to the Light of Day

Beautiful. How right Saruman was about how much Frodo had grown. And Lobelia. Journeys through darkness changed them both. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Oh, and how true that is, Antane. He has grown so much even his mercy could feel harsh to such as the fallen Maia. But he was able to encourage Lobelia to return to the light and the Light both. Thanks so!

Antane · 19 July 2016 · Chapter 83: Momentary Rest with Thoughts of Tomatoes

The Ring may have been the most powerful thing in the world at the moment but then it slams right into the wall of Sam and is defeated. Got to love it. :) Love his words about rejecting it and all that. Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Like Its Master, the Ring isn't particularly good at understanding people with different motivations. I agree--gotta love Sam!

Tari · 8 July 2016 · Chapter 83: Momentary Rest with Thoughts of Tomatoes

Thanks Larner. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Good old Sam is very wise for all his simple ways.

Author's reply

And I do hope your birthday was delightful! Yes, Sam is indeed far more wise than he realized at the time.

UTfrog · 7 July 2016 · Chapter 83: Momentary Rest with Thoughts of Tomatoes

Such powerful writing. Thank you.

Author's reply

And thank you, ITfrog! I am honored.

Antane · 19 February 2016 · Chapter 82: When Won with Pain

So much pain for Aragorn because of war but glad he could still laugh - that was heartening for us both. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author's reply

Oh, yes, he could still laugh, for which all can be glad! Thanks so, Antane.

Tari · 2 February 2016 · Chapter 82: When Won with Pain

Who wouldn't love to have Legolas sing to them. I know I would. Well done, Larner.

Author's reply

I am with you there, Tari! To hear him sing would be such a pleasure! Thanks so!

Andrea · 31 January 2016 · Chapter 82: When Won with Pain

That was an unexpected outburst of Aragorn! I can understand him very well, though. I wouldn't call it a sweet victory either. But Gandalf is right as well. For Pippin the saying is true, but sadly not for Frodo. At that moment they heard, in the distance, Legolas raise his voice in song, one of the songs in praise of Ulmo and the peace those who crossed his realm might know. A perfect ending to this story. Legolas' song is like a consolation for all (including the reader).

Author's reply

Thank you so, Andrea. I don't doubt that at times Aragorn could indeed have such bursts of temper, particularly when he was tired and worried for the future of those he cared for so deeply. And I suspect that Legolas perhaps suspected the shape Frodo's healing might take in the end, or at least would sing to console himself with what he now realized it would take to bring him the healing he now needed. Thank you so very much!

Bitsay · 30 January 2016 · Chapter 82: When Won with Pain

Thank you, Larner. Another beautiful 'moment in time'. xo

Author's reply

And thank you, too.

Soledad · 30 January 2016 · Chapter 82: When Won with Pain

Gimli, the mother hen! I can see that very clearly.

Author's reply

Indeed. After all, we know he was the one who shooed Pippin back to bed the night Frodo and Sam awoke! Thanks so, Soledad!

Estelnalissi · 3 January 2016 · Chapter 48: First Fruits

It is dangerous to my psychie to read your stories because I've never been able to bear Frodo sailing to the west in lieu of dying. Like a moth to a flame I return to them because you write so well and have realized the Shire more completely than any of the other beloved and talented fan authors whose writing I treasure. You have woven the interactions of various relations to our main players and to their other relations and sundry neighbors to the point that their paths have crossed weaving a whole that forms a living community of Hobbits with adult and childlike experiences which reflect a specifically hobbit culture. I paused to write at last about this story because it is set before the quest at a time the foursome were dealing with shirish concerns and weren't yet burdened with saving the Shire and Middle Earth. Frodo, his cousins and Sam were in the process of building mutual trust and adding to their shared, not-quite-Hobbity experiences. There were touches of play, adventure, expanding their world view, budding leadership, respect for the creator and ancient tradition, kindness to lesser creatures and peace. And when I thought my cup was full, as was those of the four hobbits, the Gods took notice and the innocent, well intentioned actions of my four favorite hobbits made a difference. You caused blessings to pass from the Shire to the Gods and to me.

Author's reply

I am so honored by this tribute, and humbly thank you for it. We have all been blest by Tolkien's gift to this world, and I thank him--and all who read his and our works here--for sharing those blessings with us, Thank you so very much, my friend.

Andrea · 21 November 2015 · Chapter 81: An Old Love Revisited

What a fascinating conversation! I liked it very much. I agree with Shirebound that Pearl is indeed the person who knows Frodo best. And Frodo shares thoughts with her that he would never have told others. Sadly, Frodo had never the chance to marry, neither Pearl, nor Narcissa!

Author's reply

Certainly there was level of intimacy between them (in my-verse, at least) he shared with no one else, and I'm glad I was finally able to indicate that he did not continue to regret that they didn't marry after all. I do love the stories in which Frodo did marry, but can't yet bring myself to produce that kind of AU, although one never knows for certain what may come in time. Thanks so, Andrea.

shirebound · 20 November 2015 · Chapter 81: An Old Love Revisited

This makes me feel so wistful. Pearl will always understand something very intimate and private about Frodo.

Author's reply

I so agree, Shirebound. Thank you so!

UTfrog · 20 November 2015 · Chapter 81: An Old Love Revisited

Lovely story. I think the gift at the end was perfect.

Author's reply

I am honored, UTFrog. Thanks so much!

Eirinn Leigh · 2 July 2015 · Chapter 39: A Dream of Tea Green Silk

What do the nine butterflies and single dragonfly have to do with Frodo? Other than that confusion, this was lovely.

Author's reply

The reason for the single dragonfly is part of my-verse--I once read a story in which Bilbo and Frodo began going through Brandy Hall in search of embroidered items with a butterfly, which the author indicated was Primula's means of marking her handiwork, the butterfly being a stylized PB. So, in my-verse, Frodo, who I indicate has excellent artistic skills, uses a dragonfly as a stylized FB, and his father Drogo, who in my-verse was a woodcarver and furniture joiner, used a stylized DB that looked rather like a beetle, as his signature sign. It became a game between Frodo and his cousins for them to search through his artwork for the dragonfly, which he'd hide here or there within the picture. Much of this is explained in my first epic, "The King's Commission." Butterflies are often symbolic of purity of soul and even of resurrection and everlasting life; the nine butterflies reflect the nine chosen as the Nine Walkers, the members of the Fellowship. I am so glad that other than this mystery you found the story lovely. Thank you so!

Andrea · 20 June 2015 · Chapter 80: Dealing with Bullies

Great story! When word spreads around the lads of the Hall who it was Frodo learned this from, Mac will have a lot to do.

Author's reply

Oh, but you are too likely right! Heh! Mac should be busy in the coming months. Thanks so, Andrea.
