I am glad that you wrote this, even if I do believe that Frodo would have tried to remain to Sam's possible coming--as I myself have imagined it and written it. I have never felt that Bilbo would have lived that long after their arrival on the island; certainly I cannot imagine Frodo and Sam living to see the arrival of Legolas and Gimli. But without the stresses he knew before, I do believe that it would be possible for Frodo to survive to at least 114, and for the two of them to have offered up their lives together, the time being right for it, and their hearts now fully healed of their stresses and losses. Thank you for the thoughtful nature of this essay, and for the thought-provoking nature of it!
