I, too, have had my own imaginings of fruits becomimg ripe for the White Tree. And indeed Hope was there, hidden like the future sapling of the White Tree. Lovely!

Oh, the ornery Hobbit! What a scammer! Poor Estella!
Aha! Dol amroth Blue. How wonderful that it found its way into a drabble. And it's very beautifully done, too. I imagine that this is where a considerable amount of his wealth came from and of course he'd be worried.

When I started doing the research, it was for a costume, but nothing one learns is ever wasted when one is a writer! :) So glad you liked it!

Too funny! I can just see Thranduil tearing around with his new toy, and white-knuckled Legolas. You capture the beginning of a higher-tech, faster, age very nicely; and Legolas' reflections keep us grounded in Tolkien's mythology despite the time and place.
Author's reply
I still grin when I visualize this drabble. I was thinking that it wasn't the technology that freaked Legolas out, as much as his father's reckless enthusiasm! From what we do see of Thranduil in canon, I have a feeling that during the dark years before Sauron was extinguished for good, he wasn't one to take reckless chances, but he was also not one to simply and quietly slip away from Middle-earth. So I can see him being a trifle more personally adventurous by the 1890s. *grin*

OMG, what a wonderful drabble. I adore Jael's "Not Fade Away" stories, and this fits in so well. I had visions of Toad behind the wheel and Otter jumping out of his way. Then it was a simple transposition to put Thranduil behind the wheel. Obviously Legolas was far braver than my more sensible Otter. Loved it!

I'm so very glad you enjoyed my drabble. I think this is my favorite so far. I don't know about Legolas being braver than dear, sensible Otter, but he will probably ride in it again, just for love of his father, even if it is a hair-raising ride then too. :) Thanks for reviewing!

I needed this grin today! Thank you. :)

I'm very glad it made you grin. Sometimes we all just need a giggle. Thanks for letting me know that you liked it.
Yep, I would be a little leary of oaths, considering the consequences of the one he and his father and brothers swore.

Thanks for letting me know what you think about this, Lynda. I was really surprised when the Muse set this in Spain, but then again, I can't see Maglor staying terribly long in one place over the Ages. Thanks for reviewing it!

Poor Legolas, now we know why Haldir does the driving!

This is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL mental image. I wonder how Legolas will feel when the era of motorcar racing hits, as I bet Thranduil will enjoy that!
Author's reply
Oh, dear! that just perked up the muse! Maybe she'll give me another drabble about that. :) I'm so glad that you enjoyed this. Thank you!

*giggle* I had so much fun writing this. I'm so glad you like it!
I always loved the way the succession of White Trees paralleled Gondor's tenuous grip on continuity. Thanks for this.
Author's reply
When I first sat down to draft this drabble, all I had was the sense that he had the seed in his pocket, always gently fingering it, almost like a good luck charm. The prayer itself came as I wrote, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. It was fun to research the Kings of Gondor so I could pick out who it was who put it there to wait for Aragorn to find it.
Thanks for reviewing.

Heh heh heh. This is classic! Fatty was right to dodge--I'd be chasing after him with a cast-iron skillet if I were Estella!
Author's reply
Me too! :) Eventually, I need to pull all my Estella and Fatty drabbles into one place and fill in the gaps. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
