I rejoice he begins to recover! Athelas, Rod, and Crown--he is now again the King, the one Thorongil aspired to be one day! And I am glad, in my way, that he grieves anew for Boromir.

Larner · 19 April 2011 · Chapter 4: Let there be Light!

It would indeed be a confusing state to find himself in, having lost forty years worth of memories!

Author's reply

I think it must be one of his hardest challenges yet. I'm glad I'm not Aragorn in this story!

I Love This Story! My favorite part: "Do I truly have the sceptre?" I can imagine his face..wide eyed full of wonder. Wonderful! I truly enjoyed this.

This was a very entertaining tale, Linda, and one that I'm glad I waited to read until after you completed it, because I was able to read it through in one sitting. I like the humor you wove in here and there--Aragorn's dread that "Denethor" might try to bring him warm milk and sing him a lullaby made me chuckle out loud, as did Arwen's retort that they'd had their child the way all couples have a child (that one made me glad I wasn't drinking anything). But I think the most emotional moment for me came when Arwen and Faramir had to tell Aragorn that his mother and Halbarad were dead. The emotions had to have been so overwhelming at that moment for a man who is completely confused and concussed. It's interesting that loss of emotional control is one of the symptoms of concussion and you used that to good effect. Normally Aragorn probably would never, at his age, "burst into tears", but it serves as a reminder (as if the amnesia weren't enough!) that his head injury really is very serious. I initially thought Arwen's reaction was a little harsh when she thought Aragorn was questioning her virtue, but I suppose she was also under quite a bit of stress, knowing he had been injured, and it was probably the middle of the night and she was not doubt not quite on top of her game, so to speak. So perhaps she can be forgiven for not showing compassion earlier. And of course, the loving way she and Faramir held him as he cried out his grief and confusion gave me all kinds of warm fuzzies. :) Very good story!

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I'm delighted that you enjoyed the story and it made you smile in places. I'm pleased that you understood that Aragorn's bursting into tears is a deliberate indicator of just how badly the injury has effected him. I don't think Arwen realises that he is lost his memory when she is angry as Aragorn successfully concealed that from Faramir. I'm pleased you enjoyed the h/c scene with Faramir and Arwen. That was one of the new additions to the story. A big thank you for your help with the revisions to the plot. Now obviously, Aragorn is a mere mortal, but given his representation in the books, I'm not sure that "burst into tears" is the best way to put things. If you catch my drift. I mean, it could happen (and I'm sure at some point, he did "burst"), but it seems a trifle out of character. Not the action itself, mind, just the method of describing it. But aside from that, I loved this chapter. Things have all come together, or at least are making sense, and I'm very interested to see where things are going to go from here. Poor Aragorn!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Aragorn's bursting into tears was deliberately rather out of character to show how the head injury had damaged him,as loss of emotional control is one of the effects. I'm delighted you enjoyed the chapter.

Adonnen Estenniel · 14 April 2011 · Chapter 3: Whither shall I flee ?

Ah the plot thickens! It's very interesting here, as I'm attempting to discover which of the two Men is ill--Aragorn or Denethor. Unless of course, both of them are ill together. Either way, this is a trippy piece of writing, and I'm really enjoying it.

Adonnen Estenniel · 14 April 2011 · Chapter 2: Whether guest or captive I

I rather like this. The air of mystery you employ throughout works very well, and keeps a reader's attention. Aragorn's emotions are quite believable, given the present situation. Nicely done.

Adonnen Estenniel · 14 April 2011 · Chapter 1: That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain

Interesting turn of events. I'm quite intrigued by the vague mentions and Denethor's attitude. The lack of background information certainly makes this a compelling read.

LisaG · 12 March 2011 · Chapter 4: Let there be Light!

Ack! Losing 44 years of memories is frightening...especially with no one nearby that Aragorn knows who can tell him that he really IS the king, etc. How is he going to get his memory back? Might be interesting to see what happens if that never occurs...he can court Arwen again. :)

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Yes, I'm certain that Aragorn must find the situation very frightening indeed. All will soon be revealed.

Ellynn · 11 March 2011 · Chapter 4: Let there be Light!

I thought it might be something like this - I asumed Aragorn was not seeing things as they really were. Some parts of this chapter are absolutely hillarious! I just couldn't stop laughing. So well done!

Estelcontar · 11 March 2011 · Chapter 4: Let there be Light!

I most certainly wouldn't want to be in Aragorn's place. He must feel totally confused and sad. I'm so glad you're rewriting this story.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I wouldn't like to be in Aragorn's shoes either. he must feel trapped in a nightmare.

curiouswombat · 11 March 2011 · Chapter 4: Let there be Light!

Oh poor Aragorn - it must be horrible to feel so totally lost, and to experience the loss of loved ones all over again, like that.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I feel sorry for poor Aragorn too,it must be a truly horrible experience to have.

LisaG · 27 February 2011 · Chapter 3: Whither shall I flee ?

My head is spinning just as much as Aragorn's! Clearly, he's now the king, but has lost all memory of the time between being Thorongil and the present. And just who is Denathor? Faramir? But why would Faramir call him Ada? Is it Eldarion? I'm sooooooooo confused!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I'm pleased I am keeping you guessing! There is a clue in the final paragrapghs of "A Time to Reap" also on this site!

Estelcontar · 26 February 2011 · Chapter 3: Whither shall I flee ?

It must have been a most trying situation for both Aragorn and Faramir, and you've done a good job of showing how tense they both were.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I don't eny either of them at all!

Larner · 26 February 2011 · Chapter 3: Whither shall I flee ?

Poor Aragorn! He is so certain he's back about fifty years ago! And he thinks the lady by him is Finduilas? Poor guy! I hope Arwen can begin getting through to him.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. I feel sorry for Aragorn too!

Laikwalâssê · 25 February 2011 · Chapter 3: Whither shall I flee ?

Hi Linda, another great chapter. Poor Aragorn, but I feel more sorry for Faramir at the moment. I hope Arwen is able to take her husband back to reality. I like this story very much. I´m curious what happened to Aragorn to cause such a injury. Thanks for a wonderful read. Lai

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I;m pleased you are enjoying this. All will be revealed as to how Aragorn came to be in this situation!

Raksha The Demon · 22 February 2011 · Chapter 2: Whether guest or captive I

Things get curiouser and curiouser. I feel sorry for Thorongil here. Everything is confusing; Denethor is not as he remembered him. A good chapter and interesting mystery.

Larner · 22 February 2011 · Chapter 2: Whether guest or captive I

Poor Thorongil is definitely years behind the times at the moment! Faramir has no idea what's going on in his liege's head right now! I hope Arwen appears to help her husband come back to the present rather than dwelling in the past.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.Arwen will indeed play a part in the future.Throrongil is maybe "too" good at concealing what he thinks!

Larner · 22 February 2011 · Chapter 1: That one may smile, and smile, and be a villain

Is Aragorn mistaking Faramir for his father, then? Most frustrating for Aragorn to think that he is Denethor's captive!

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I can only say all will soon be revealed!

Mysterious Jedi · 22 February 2011 · Chapter 2: Whether guest or captive I

Wow, Aragorn is very confused indeed. I wonder how long it will take Faramir to figure out what's going on.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review. All will soon be revealed, but our hero's problems are far from over yet!

LisaG · 21 February 2011 · Chapter 2: Whether guest or captive I

Hmmmm....curiouser and curiouser! I *think* I know what's going on...at least partly! Aragorn must have some kind of amnesia and has lost all the years between being Thorongil and becoming King. If so, poor Aragorn! He must feel like Alice down the rabbit hole...very disconcerted! But the presence of Denethor is throwing me off...especially Denethor without the scar.

Author's reply

Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I fear for Aragorn here too. I'm glad I'm managing to keep you guessing!

Estelcontar · 20 February 2011 · Chapter 2: Whether guest or captive I

A very tantalizing chapter two. I enjoyed it even more now that I'm rereading it.
