Well, it's good to know Amarie wasn't being selfish or anything with this surprise. Excellent chapter as always Fiondil. Patiently waiting for next week's update.
P.S. I think you've got a typo there. There's a part where Elindis says, "Why don't I go tell Arafinwe and Elindis the good news." Shouldn't it be Arafinwe and Earwen?
Author's reply
Hi Finrodbrs. Oops! You're right. Thanks for pointing the typo out. I've since fixed it.
Glad you liked the chapter. Thanks for letting me know. I appreciate it very much.

Sheesh! It's just one thing after another isn't it! Poor Finda, poor Ara'! Almariel has a lot to answer for, silly ellith. I do like Castamir but I think he should have put his foot down with Alamriel a long time ago!
I am not surprised Arafinwe had a tantrum, it has been building for a long time now, he is still very ambivilant over his brother's return, even after all this time and all the experiance he has had as Noldaran he is still not comfortable at it.
So now the wedding is back on, I think I am not the only person who will breath a big sigh of releif when this is all over and Christmas is only 11 days away, Arrgh!!!!
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. I'm afraid Castamir is a bit too laid-back for everyone's piece of mind but I have a feeling after this he'll be a bit firmer in keeping his wife in line.
Arafinwë's break down was long in coming what with all the craziness going on around him. At least Manwë was able to calm him down.
And yes, the wedding is back on. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I very much appreciate it.

The wedding's off... now that's a shock. Is she just paying him back for how Finrod treated her last time, or is she that upset over the ugly dress? Or something else?
Author's reply
Hi Aiwen. As to your questions, we'll find out in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's greatly appreciated.

Oh man, this chapter! First we have Anarie, and ow but that must be traumatic on all sides! Your husband, who you are not entirely sure you forgive just yet (1) doesn't remember you and (2) acts like a child. Or on Nolofinwe's side "hey this random stranger who you are supposed to have tied your life to and apparently love just hauled off and slapped you!" Ow. Just Ow. And then Amarie afkhskljhlk WHAT. D= Oh dear oh dear oh dear!
Author's reply
Hi bookworm. There's certainly a lot going on in this chapter with lots of high emotions all around. Anairë and Nolofinwë are going to have to get to know one another again. Even though he's in elfling mode at the moment, he was also a king and she never knew him in the respect. And of course, time doesn't stand still even for Elves and she's changed from what she was like before. It'll take a while for them all to be a family again, but it'll come eventually.
As for Amarië... we'll just have to see what happens next week. *grin*
Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

They recover, and then have a family confrontation of such magnitude, with Anaire not realizing just how this loss of memory she's been told of is likely to manifest itself; and then just as reconciliation is starting to begin, here comes Amarie with such a pronouncement? What else is likely to happen before the ceremony is supposed to take place? Sounds more and more as if they ought to have eloped after all!
Author's reply
If it's not one thing it's something else, isn't it, Larner? I'm sure many people are beginning to wish Finrod and Amarie had done it the "Sindarin way" by now. *grin* We'll see next week how it all gets resolved. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate you taking the time to do so.

Nolofinwe handled that very well, and his concerns for Findecano are well thought out. Nicely done.

Yes, he handled the situation very well, protecting not only himself but Findecano and ultimately Turucano when he, too, is reborn. Thanks for commenting, Larner. I appreciate it.

Oh, no! What now? Didn't Arafinwe say "One crisis down"? I knew it sounded ominous... but I didn't expect that. Grrr, and now I have to wait another whole week for an explanation. Poor Finrod! When this wedding ever takes place (and it better does), everyone is ready for a long vacation. They all seem to be emotional basket cases by now.
The exchange with the bed was hilarious and should give Anarie a hint as to the maturity of her husband. But I think her shock was too great to really process all the implications.
Author's reply
Hi obsidianj. Well, you know what they say about Murphy's Law. I'm sure it applied to Elves as well and we're seeing the proof of it right here.
I'm glad you found the "bed" exchange hilarious. Nolofinwe's reaction must've really confused her. And you're right that her shock is still too great to really process all the implications. I think it'll take a while for her to reconcile her memories of her husband with the reality, but at least they have lots of time to get reaquainted. *grin*

Erm, Fiondil, I think your Muse and I need to have a little chat, something along the lines of the ones Namo has with certain people, he has an evil mind, a very evil mind!(Not Namo, your Muse!)
I do think Arafinwe could have given Anaire a little warning, just how hard would it have been to tell her that her husband and sons had been Re-born before springing them on her.
As for Amarie, I suppose it is just as well she has changed her mind no, otherwise, after the wedding it would be a little late, LACE being what it is!
Good one Fiondil, as if my blood pressure is not high enough already!
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. And how do you know my Muse isn't Námo himself? *grin*
I'm sure Arafinwë debated to himself and Eärwen how best to handle Anairë and this was the solution they came up with. I'm not sure how they could've approached it otherwise. And once she gets over the shock, I'm sure Anairë will rise to the occasion.
As for Amarië... we'll see what's going on with her in the next chapter. All is not what it seems.

Now, this was the mother of all evil cliffhangers and no mistake. *g*
I know I'm probably calling the lynch mob upon myself, but I for my part have great understanding for both Anairë and Amarië (and would like to throttle the Professor for giving them almost identical names - it's frigging hard to keep them apart!). They both were dealt with badly, and are entitled to hold some grudges, IMO. But that's just me, and I don't expect anyone to share my heretic opinion. ;)
Author's reply
Hi Soledad. That's me, the king of evil cliffies. LOL!
I have great sympathy for Anairë and Amarië, though for different reasons. I think it very reasonable that Anairë would have ambivalent feelings towards her husband and children and we deal with Amarië's feelings in "Elf, Interrupted".

Finrod will need a psychiatric by the time that the wedding takes place. It is a shock after a shock, poor guy.

OH SWEET LORD!! First, I'm just getting over Anaire slapping the bejezus out of her husband and then I almost choke to death on my bagel from the last line. You're going to have to include a warning at the beginning of chapters, Fiondil. I think the only reason I haven't really hit the panic button is that Lady Meril was amused. Did I mention I'm one of those annoyingly "happy ever after" gals? These two have to get married.
Great chapter.

8-O Now what caused this???? 8-O Amarie suddenly doesn't want to marry Finrod after all??!? (And of course, that is also just where you left us hanging!)
It is rather obvious Anairë hasn't had any contact with any Reborn - and I must say the meeting between her and her husband and her sons was not auspicious. The first thing she does is hitting Nolofinwë!! nd I hope she will become better at dealing with surprises - with three Reborn around, she will need to get used to them! And I can really understand Findecáno and Aracáno's reactions too, when they say they would really prefer to have Eärwen as mother instead of Anairë, since the very first thing Anairë did when meeting with them again, was hitting Nolofinwë!!
(Hee! Pigs will fly, eh? I have a hairstick with an adorable flying pig!!)
It is very clear that Arafinwë has become very experienced in dealing with Reborn. When he and his brother runs off here, I assume it is to find a tree to swing from? ;-)
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. Hey! You know me and cliffhangers. LOL!
Anairë has had no contact with any Reborn and she's going to have to learn double-quick how to handle them with three to deal with. And Arafinwë is an old hand with Reborn after all this time. He could probably write the book on it. *grin* I wouldn't be surprised if they did end up swing from a tree.

Also I am pleased to see that Nolofinwë and his sons want to give their fealty to Arafinwë. I can understand Anairë's reaction - she hasn't had much to do with Reborns for a start and given the way she and Nolofinwë separated.....
Well I was smiling until I got to that last bit. Now what has happened I wander.....

And I thought the British Monarchy had issues, jeez. I think at the end of this wedding everyone will breathe a very audible "Nasie!". I do want to thank you for the wonderful glimpse into being a "reborn". very fascinating to say the least. I don't know a lot of the background on the characters but your portrayal of many of them is memorizing to say the least.
***sighs*** how many more days before the wedding?

Hi Eliza. Oh the British Monarchy has nothing on this lot. LOL! I'm glad you like my glimpses of the Reborn. They are indeed very fascinating and I enjoy writing them and seeing the different ways in which they react. No two Reborn seem to react quite the same way.

Wow!! Nicely done Nolofinwe. He was right too. By acting like an elfling, he not only showed the People exactly what Ingwi was trying to tell them, but also protected his sons as well. Very well done indeed.
Glorfy's right of course. Arafinwe more than likely does already know what has happened, but they still need to let him know about it. Even so...Why on Arda didn't a Maia appear when the riot got so close to the tipping point? Ingwi's not the only one puzzled about that one.
Sigh...And now, I need to go back to sorting fake gemstones. I make circlets and tiaras and I got four boxes of assorted fake gems for a dollar each at the Dollar Store when I was in Sudbury for appts Monday. However, they're all shapes, sizes and colours, therefore the need to sort them. I just wish I knew what I could do w/the teeny tiny ones that were also in these boxes. They're far too small for my purposes and I haven't the foggiest idea what to do w/them.
Anyway...I needed a break and now I need to go back to sorting. Can't wait for next week and whatever happens next. :oD
Author's reply
Hi Tigger. I'm glad you liked how Nolofinwë handled the situation.
And just as there's never a cop when you need one, there's never a Maia. *grin* And I'm sure if the situation had turned really ugly Manwë would've ordered his Maiar to step in, but the Valar really would prefer the Elves to solve their own problems without the Valar constantly acting as referees.
Sorting fake gemstones. Now, I should've had Arafinwë do that for Varda rather than the buttons. LOL! I'm sure you'll think of something to do with the tiny ones. If you know people who like to construct fairy houses, a common motif is to have something shiny hanging on the house somewhere to attract the fairies. You might construct something for that using the teeny tiny gemstones.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

I suppose Finrod has a right to feel haunted, with all that has happened with the wedding - like that wedding outfit! *shudders* Not to mention frazzled, stressed out and just about insane. ;-)
It sounds as in Nolofinwë had his moments in Mandos when he was making life interesting for Námo and the Maiar. I wonder if he was as good at that as a certain Dynamic Duo? Him being sent to his room, and that comment he overheard certainly sounds like he might have been!
I like Nolofinwe's reaction to the crowd once he got over his fright - and especially his reaction to the ellon who insisted that since Nolofinwë was older than Arafinwë, he had to be the Noldoran. He knows well that he is not ready for such a responsibility, though he will probably be king again when the people from Tol Eressëa - especially his former liegemen - begin to move to the mainland in large numbers.
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. I'm sure Nolofinwë and others gave Námo and his Maiar many moments of... interest. *grin*
Nolofinwë's reaction was just the right touch to diffuse an awkward situation. Showing the people of Tirion just how much of a Reborn he is makes a better impression than Ingwion just saying so. I'm sure that the Valar's plans to open the southern parts of Valinor open to the Elves for colonization is in recognition that all these loyalties will clash as each king is released from Mandos. I can see Nolofinwë or maybe Findecáno setting off in a few centuries to found their own kingdom with those of their former subjects who wish to leave Tol Eressëa for the mainland. It only makes sense, really.
Anyway, thanks for reading and reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Well, it was expected. He was their King, and that is the reaction from Tirion, imagine the reaction from the island, it will be a real riot. I'm very impressed with Nolofinwe, he is really acting more mature than any reborn that we know. He was such a great and heroic King. And Finrod...I almost cry when he die. He was the last of the family that keep Maedros' sanity, what a lost to the Elves.
Very proud of Nolonfinwe's loyalty to his brother, but that too is expected.
I did my homework, I already re read Elf Academy, I'm waiting....I wish Finrod meet Glorfindel again, Glorfy really, really miss and need him.

Uh, oh! Trouble is brewing. This ellon wanting to have Nolofinwe back as King for principles sake cannot be the only one. The Kings of Aman better think of how to handle the situation with all the Kings that will be released. (How many are there? I lost count). It may be several centuries (as we count) until Nolofinwe and Findecano are ready to take up kingship again, but the elves life forever. There is bound to be some friction. Life in Aman is becoming more and more "interesting".
Author's reply
Hi obsidianj. I think the ellon is in the minority but the minority can be very vocal and can cause quite a bit of trouble. I'm sure Arafinwë will have his people keeping an eye on things, but Nolofinwë and his sons giving him their fealty will go a long way towards diffusing the situation.
