· Chapter 8: An Invitation to Dine
I'm enjoying each new chapter as it arrives. Your characterizations are gems, drawing readers in and keeping us very entertained. I confess, I can't see the end, but I don't care as long as you continue.
For personal satisfaction, I would have loved a little more play on “I’ll overlook the bow for this once,” said Aragorn solemnly. “It would not be the first time I have been told by a Hobbit that I do not look regal.” Such possibilities!
Thanks for a delightful story.
Author's reply
Well, Lyllyn, one of the reasons you can't see where I'm headed is that I'm so verbose I haven't really geared up the plot yet! I'm glad you're being entertained by this. And don't worry -- Bandy is going to get a little more "page time" than I had originally intended. I love writing his dialog!
Thank you for the reviews,

· Chapter 8: An Invitation to Dine
Oh, what a lovely interaction between the Hobbit and the king! Again, such marvelous detail on the noise and bustle of the marketplace, and Bandy's dialogue was perfect, just perfect. So now we'll get a dinner with Faramir and Eowyn as well? That should be interesting. At some point it would be nice to see Aragorn and Legolas alone together--I think some of the courtly dialogue might slip a little between such good friends, especially since Aragorn is more inclined to whap the young prince upside his head. I'm looking forward to more!
Author's reply
So far everyone seems to really like Bandy! I think I'll expand his character somewhat over what I had intended -- his dialog is very enjoyable to write. I'm not sure yet if Aragorn will "whap" Legolas, but he may verbally "whap" him before the end has come. Heaven knows it'll be appropriate!
Thanks for your reviews!

· Chapter 7: The Privy Council Meets
Busted, Aragorn! Legolas sure has gummed up the works, though. I love that bit about boys not growing wiser, only taller. Reminds me of something my dad says: "The only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys." ;) I can see how Thranduil might be a little put out if anything happened to his *rather wayward* son now. Can't wait for him to show up!

Thanks as always for your reviews! It's encouraging to get such positive feedback. I'm "lapping" my beta, Delilah, as she's somewhat busy right now, so I may have to go in and "fix" chapters that have already been uploaded as she makes corrections. I'll try to keep up the production, at least.
My inspiration for boys growing taller and not wiser was my brother. Not that he gave me the quote; rather he was the impetus behind it!

So the decision is made. I'm so looking forward to Aragorn's conversation with Legolas--and an explanation for all that armour. Well done, and here's to more soon!

· Chapter 7: The Privy Council Meets
Aragorn may not see reason, but he is surely outvoted. I am relieved that Legolas is not repelled from the tournament (it would be quite boring without him, as a matter of fact). Though the motives of the various counsellors to cast their votes as they did were as much fun to read as was Aragorn's embarrassement as the true identity of 'Telcontar of Gondor' was revealed;-)

I'm glad you liked the "council", Fliewatuet! I'm trying to make this as fun to read as it is to write (though chances are I'm failing miserably -- I am SO enjoying myself). · Chapter 6: The Green Knight and the King
See, I have not abandoned your story (only had difficulties in finding the time to read it). The identity of the Green Knight does not surprise me (the name itself bore hints enough), but his motives for entering the tournament in secrecy are indeed convincing, though they don't speak high of Elessar's people.
Elessar, on the other hand, seems to be quite a spoilsport at the moment. I fear he needs/deserves a pep talk from Bandobras. That Hobbit is a most refreshing character in that he has absolutely no qualms at adressing the lords and ladies as if they were just ordinary people.

Hmm. How on earth did he stand all that awful armor? Seems rather un-Wood-elfly, as claustrophobic as they usually are.

· Chapter 6: The Green Knight and the King
Hmmm, so the mystery is revealed at last. I accept Legolas' reasoning for competing in the tournament, though it still seems rather un-Elf like to carry so much armor and heavy weaponry. But the descriptions are marvelous, and the detail is fantastic. Thank you!

· Chapter 5: The White Lady Chooses Her Champion
Oh ho, oh ho! So they've figured it out. And, may I say, I'm delighted to have Aragorn and Arwen join the fun. But why is Aragorn angry? Because Legolas is trumping all the mortal knights? Not like he needs the prize money either. Off to read the next chapter now!

· Chapter 4: The King Comes to Osgiliath
I missed a few updates, it seems, but I'm catching up now. The mystery deepens! I knew it was Thranduil sending the money, I knew it, and I'm glad to see him portrayed in a positive light. Legolas must have had a tremendous influence on him, if he's willing to support Men like this, especially after the cost that Mirkwood paid during the War. They fought off all of Sauron's northern minions on their own, without the help of a Ring or aid from Lothlorien. Go Thranduil! You da man! Elf. Whatever.
Hmm, so it seems that this mysterious knight might be Legolas after all. How strange. Thank goodness there are more chapters to read now! I'm off to see what else transpires. Oh, and I commend you on the dialogue. The writing style might be difficult, but it is a lot of fun to read. Just as long as you don't get hampered by it--the characters should come clearly across as themselves, without worrying too much about medieval grammar. Still, though, I loved the bit about the poult. Marvelous.

Uh-oh. I have my suspicions, but apparently whoever he is, he's in Aragorn's bad graces! Bring on the next chapter!

· Chapter 5: The White Lady Chooses Her Champion
Another excellent chapter! I was tempted to leapt off my seat and cheer along with Arwen and Eowyn.
Althrough I do not understand why Aragon would be so upset with Legolas. The ladies seem to enjoy the joke well enough.

· Chapter 4: The King Comes to Osgiliath
Well, this certainly is intriguing! I usually don't like to read "in progress" stories, but you're really stringing me along here! I agree; I don't think Legolas ever drew attention to himself in the books as exactly *who* he was. Rather exasperating as far as I'm concerned. :) I eagerly await the next chapter ~ Coriel, a fellow Isabelled fanfictioner

· Chapter 3: Lasgalen Oakleaf of Dale
I found your story when I tried to look for Thranduil stories and since Faramir and Eowyn don't recognise the dwarf which thus, isn't Gimli who is travelling companion to Legolas. I wonder...is the Green Knight the Elven King?! Wonderful story, I love all the details within.

Legolas and Gimli and... Pippin or is that really his relative? I thought at the second chapter that is was really Pip but since Eowyn did not recognise him... no wonder Gimli is hiding. Hey, what kind of horse do you picture?? A breton?? A friesian??

Okay, I'm curious now. Just how long until we find out who this mysterious knight is? Please update soon! And again, this story is wonderful. I could wish for some more from our favorites--Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli . . . but I'm hopeful that they'll turn up later on. Unless Legolas and Gimli are already there . . . doesn't seem right though. People would recognise Gimli, and this horse doesn't seem like the sort that Legolas would ride, and I can't imagine why he'd participate in a tournament of Men. Ah, but what do I know?

Interesting start. You created a very vivid image of the pre-tournament atmosphere. And Pippin's nephew is a bright fellow. Maybe a bit chatty, but every bit the Hobbit. And quite persuasive at that. Now I am curious to learn more about his master:-)
