I like the mutual cation between the Haradrim and Hirluin (and Farmair to some degree I guess). It would take time for them to trust each other after years of war. The dream was chilling. Hopefully a warning and not a prophesy. I think I know what was bothering me about no mention of Aragorn in the last chapter. Boromir knew, at the time of his death, that Aragorn intended to claim kingship in Gondor. He would know that his father would not be very happy with that, but he must also have known that Faramir would not be so hostile. Would he not at least wonder whether Aragorn's claim had been accepted, since he knew his father died? I'm not trying to make trouble, or saying you have to change anything, it is just bothering me.

Author's reply

Thanks so much for commenting! Regarding the Haradrim, it doesn't help that although many of them were decent people who were misled and abused by Sauron, there probably were some truly evil Haradrim who were worthy of distrust. In the next chapter, Eldahil and Boromir talk about Aragorn (though not a lot since it's a subject both of them want to avoid, though for different reasons--Boromir is still ashamed of his actions at Amon Hen, and Eldahil is unsure of Boromir's reaction to the return of the King). Thanks again for reviewing!

Looks like Hirluin is still taking good care of Faramir, or trying to! Loved the bit with his trading angry looks at Arnuzir's nephew. It will take time for old hostilities to ease. Loved the glimpse of Faramir's daily life as the Steward. I would guess we will eventually see a Faramir/Boromir + Eldahil & Hirluin reunion. The plot is thickening; and what is happening with the pipes and water systems, or what will happen? More soon, I hope.

Author's reply

Yes, Hirluin is still watching over Faramir, or as much as Faramir will let him. It will be difficult for both peoples to put aside the past. They have been enemies for their entire lives. I love imagining Faramir finally able to do peaceful and constructive work. It must have been such a joy for him. The reunion of brothers and friends has been posted! (Two chapters in one week--unheard of! But now I have to do my continuing education credits for the year, so the next one won't be up until around New Years). Thanks so much for reviewing! (And please let me know if those dogs are all wrong, lol.)

I really liked this glimpse of Faramir at work. The calm before the storm, so to speak. And the bits about Éowyn were interesting as well.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I imagine that he and Denethor were both excellent administrators; Boromir maybe less so, lol--not due to lack of intellect but due to lack of interest. Yes, the storm is coming. :)

Fiondil · 4 December 2011 · Chapter 3: Chapter 3

An evil dream, indeed, and probably very prophetic. Hopefully, with Boromir there, they will be able to divert disaster while the King is away. Eagerly looking forward to the next chapter, Branwyn.

Author's reply

Well, Faramir (and Boromir) have had prophetic dreams in the past. Whether evil will be averted--we will see! :) Thank you for commenting!

Agape4Gondor · 4 December 2011 · Chapter 3: Chapter 3

Oh! I like how you put the dreams together. As Boromir received a dream calling him forth, Faramir now suffers through a disquieting dream. Lovely.

Author's reply

Thanks so much for noticing that! I always thought it was funny how (in the books) Faramir had the prophetic dream about Imladris three times, but apparently Denethor didn't pay much heed because it was only Faramir having the dream. The Valar finally said, "Oh, fer crying out loud!" and sent the dream to Boromir instead. THEN Denethor took notice.

Agape4Gondor · 1 December 2011 · Chapter 2: Chapter 2

A truly magnificent and chilling (pun intended) chapter. Wonderful writing of a ho9rrific scene!

Author's reply

Thanks so much for commenting! He must be quite a scary sight. Will require some cleanup before he goes anywhere, lol.

Phyloxena · 27 November 2011 · Chapter 2: Chapter 2

This is truly exciting! Tea-sipping ghost is touching and not as scary, and Eldahil shows remarkable loyalty and presence of mind.

Author's reply

No, he is more sad and confused than scary. Though I am sure he felt better after a cup of tea. :) Thanks for your kind review!

Fiondil · 26 November 2011 · Chapter 2: Chapter 2

I hope they figure out how to get those arrows out of him and give him some decent clothes before sneaking him past Faramir's guards. LOL! This looks to be an exciting story. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's reply

Yes, he isn't going to get far looking like that! I am glad you are enjoying this, and thanks so much for commenting.

Adonnen Estenniel · 26 November 2011 · Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Curiouser and curiouser! I wonder what Faramir will think when he sees his brother? Looking forward to that!

Author's reply

We haven't quite gotten to the reunion, but I promise it will be soon. Thanks for reviewing!

Ragnelle · 26 November 2011 · Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Intriguing first chapters. Makes me curious to continue reading (always a good thing). I did wonder, though, since you have not mentioned him at all, why Boromir needed to speak with Faramir, the Steward, and not also with the king. Since it was a threat to Minas Tirith, and not to his brother specifically. Or maybe that is something that will become clear later?

Author's reply

As Boromir says, he has had no news save that Sauron has been overthrown and Denethor has died. He knows that the West has been victorious, but he doesn't know that the king has returned. Aragorn happens to be away from Minas Tirith at the moment, which is one reason that Eldahil doesn't suggest going to see him. Thanks for commenting! Cairistiona · 22 November 2011 · Chapter 0: Prologue

A very fascinating glimpse of the inner workings of Minas Tirith! Making it into a tour for Boromir and Faramir, and letting us see it through their eyes, makes it come alive. And it somehow seemed very appropriate that Boromir would ask about the dead bodies and Faramir about fish! The detail about the coin was so poignant; a very good arc that lifted this beyond just a vignette to a deeper, more touching story that lingers in my thoughts long after.

Author's reply

I am so glad that you enjoyed this, and thanks for reviewing! Boromir is about 14 in this story, so I figured he would be both intrigued and disgusted at the thought of dead bodies in the water supply. And Faramir, as always, is interested in all living things. :) Author Reply: I am so glad that you enjoyed this, and thanks for reviewing! This is terrific! I love how you mixed humor and horror in this. "...as fanciful as a pile of rocks" actually made me giggle out loud (because yes, I dig that kind of subtle humor, what can I say). Eldahil is the kind of wry, sarcastic sort of character I love. The setting details made me feel I was right there on the ramparts with them, and the men's weeping reaction to Boromir's appearance was touching. I greatly enjoyed this!

Author's reply

I am glad you are enjoying the story, and thank you so much for the kind review! Eldahil, who is a very distant relation of Boromir and Faramir, appeared in an earlier story I wrote. I needed an OC, so I brought him back. He is a fun character to write. :)

Agape4Gondor · 20 November 2011 · Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Great start. Shades of Hamlet. I was rolling on the floor at the last paragraph. Can't wait 'til Faramir hears of this. Well written.

Author's reply

Written with abject apologies to Shakespeare. *grin* Brotherly reunion coming up soon. Thanks so much for the kind review!

Agape4Gondor · 20 November 2011 · Chapter 0: Prologue

What a gorgeous prologue. I love learning of the details of Minas Tirith. I once read a story about the sewers. Fascinating. Thanks for taking the time to think of Minas Tirith's water supply and sharing it with us. One reason Denethor was so sure his city could not be taken.

Author's reply

Thanks so much for the kind review! That City must have been a marvel of engineering.

Adonnen Estenniel · 19 November 2011 · Chapter 1: Chapter 1

What an interesting concept! The return of Boromir will certainly have profound effects upon the story as we know it.

Author's reply

I am glad you like the idea. Boromir may or may not be back on a permanent basis. Even he doesn't understand how or why he has returned. Thanks so much for reviewing!

galathil · 18 November 2011 · Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Oh Wow,the ghost of Boromir! I think that this is the start of a good story, can't wait for the next chapter.Wonder what the danger is though? LOL Galathil

Author's reply

You (and Boromir and Faramir) will find out eventually. :) Thanks for commenting!
