I would prefer to be the Fire that warms and protects rather than the Fire that destroys A most humble and honest self-assessment. Dear Gandalf!

Author's reply

I agree, Shirebound. But his brother did not choose a similar attitude, I fear. Thank heavens that Gandalf chose to stand against Mairon/Aulendil/Annatar/Zigur/Sauron!

I have always felt that Melkor had a great desire for light. I love reading your interpretation of that theme. This is a lovely series. - Erulisse (one L)

Author's reply

I obviously agree. Too bad he became so selfish regarding sharing the light he was intended to show forth! Thanks so, Erulisse!

Great description of chaining of Melkor! I am really curious what you'll write next; it would be great to see how he'll return, after all the long time in which he planned his revenge.

Author's reply

I wasn't intending to go that way, I fear. But there are so many in Arda who were intended to show forth light!

Ellynn · 22 December 2011 · Chapter 1: And Let There Be Light!

Aww, lovely! I love this even more because I am astronomer, so all the stories that include astronomy especially attract my attention. I really like your descriptions. :)

Author's reply

I'm so glad that this birth of the stars so touched you, Ellynn. Thanks so much!

I'm honored, eiluj! Thanks!

Oh, I wish we could do such a thing! Thanks so, Armariel!

I enjoyed this very much. It's the 'creation song' of The Silmarillion that inspired me the most in that book. This is a beautiful way to celebrate the Festival of Lights.

Author's reply

I tend to collect "creation" stories, and have encouraged by students to find them as well. And I'm glad you like the focus of this series.

Freyalyn · 21 December 2011 · Chapter 1: And Let There Be Light!

You are the only writer I follow whose stories occasionally give me a shiver on the back of my neck and down my arms. This one has done that too. A beautiful story of light for the longest night.

Author's reply

Oh, I love hearing that a story I've written has struck someone viscerally! Thank you so!

harrowcat · 21 December 2011 · Chapter 1: And Let There Be Light!

This is so descriptive and beautiful Larner. Very Tolkieneske with each playing their part in the Creation.

Author's reply

I love Fiondil's Creation story, but wanted to try my own hand at it from my POV. Thanks so very much, Harrowcat!
