Well that tied a few bows on things, but it did leave some tales hanging!
Good to know that Alex's mom will be guarded and that Maddy and Sanderson will be siding to the Light. Let's hope thay can convince Washington that Farrell needs a nice, long stay in a place that has rooms with nice, squishy walls!
Elves indeed, who ever heard of such a thing!
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. Yes, I deliberately didn't tie all the bows on things so as to leave it open for another sequel where we will see further developments with the Agency and the personal lives of the Elves and the Mortals with whom they deal. Just one more chapter (the Epilogue) to go and then we'll be done for a time. Thanks for reviewing. It's greatly appreciated.

A lovely resolution and there in definitely room for Book 3....I want to know what happens next. Really really enjoyed this story - it has brightened up my lunchtimes for me so much...
Author's reply
Thanks, Arwen. I'm glad you enjoyed this story. There is one more chapter, an Epilogue, and then we'll be completely done with this story, though, of course, there will be Book 3. I just don't know when, but I suspect sometime in next year. We'll see what the muse has to say about it. Thanks for all your reivews. I appreciated every one of them.

Excellent resolution with lots of room for Book Three! I do hope you have an epilogue for Alex's mom to visit. Maybe there is someone in Wiseman she can marry. Also, please, please give us the wedding.
You are an outstanding writer. Thank you for hours of reading and retreading pleasure.
Author's reply
There is an Epilogue, though we won't see Alex's mom or the wedding in it. Will have to wait for Book Three for all that. And thank you for all your reviews, UTfrog. I'm so glad you enjoyed this story.

I have been remiss in rendering proper payment for works enjoyed - my apologies! I have indeed very much enjoyed these three chapters about Finrod's court, and the "guest" appearances. I hope Maddy will learn more and will be able to take some comfort and confidence in knowing that while her way may be hard and dark at the moment, she is not alone.
I'm sorry to see this tale coming to a close, but very much appreciate your labor of love to bring it to life.
Author's reply
Hi Lyana. We'll see what Maddy decides about things in the next chapter. And, unfortnately, all good things come to an end, but I've left certain loose ends dangling in this story to make way for a sequel, though we're not going to see one immediately. Other writing projects take precedence and hopefully you'll enjoy them as well once I start posting them. Thanks for reviewing and letting me know how much you enjoyed Finrod's Court and the story as a whole. I appreciate it very much.

That was a highly interesting court. How can anyone be unbiased when it comes time for Farrell to stand trial in a human court after this performance? This was highly irregular. Although, I have the feeling many people have a lot to think about after this evening.
Author's reply
Hi obsidanj. The whole thing is indeed irregular. We'll see what solution is presented in the final chapter on Farrell and the other agents getting a fair trial. And many people do have much to think about. We'll see some of them doing some thinking in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

So, we are back to the original question as to who sent the photos from Alaska to Maddy, with the addition of how did they get into the Director's hands as well? It appears there is at least one agent of the Dark who is involved in inflaming Farrell's desire for vengeance and influencing the other agents not to interfere when he goes too far, or who aren't questioning his authority when he exceeds his own. And until now they've not shown qualms about taking part in kidnap and torture. Seems that this trial in part was about getting them to awaken from their stupor and question their own motives.
Am now awaiting Monday Next. (Is that a relative of Thursday's? Heh!)
Author's reply
I think Námo intimates that the Valar were somehow responsible for having the photos sent, though he doesn't really come right out and say it. We may never know just how it was done or who, and it doesn't really matter at this point, does it? At any rate, I think you are correct about one reason for Finrod's Court was to awaken certain people from their ignorance of what they were doing. Thanks for reviewing Larner. I appreciate it very much.

ok first: I love this story!! I had my doubts at first but it is defiantly my favorite story here. Secondly, this has been bothering me for a while, but the people of wiseman/the elves who didn't sail, do they know about Tolkien's work or Peter Jackson's movies? Or... is this a world without The Lord of the Rings or The Simarillion *gasp!!* It's been bugging me for a while so I'd love to know! thanks! and oh ya... I LOVE THIS STORY!!!!!
Author's reply
Hello ladyevenstar. I'm so glad that you love this story. I really appreciate you letting me know. In answer to your question, in the Elf Academy universe, Tolkien never wrote the Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings or the Silmarillion so there were no movies either. If one excepts the fiction that Tolkien "discovered" the Redbook of Westmarch from which he drew his tales, then in this universe, he never found it, or perhaps did not live long enough to do anything about it, perhaps dying during World War I like many of his friends. At any rate, when I was writing the Elf Academy story I decided that knowledge of Tolkien's Elves or Middle-earth's history would not exist. It solved a lot of logistical problems in writing the story.

Interesting. I was just wondering if Eonwe would appear with his book when lo and behold, there he was. If I were Farrell, I'd be shaking in my shoes. But, that will never happen. He's to arrogant. I don't think he realizes how much trouble he is in.

A very interesting Court. I'm assuming that Maddy will be a new ally. Finrod will always love Mortals, he is right, we rock! Farrell will be a problem, don't think that he will go quiet. And the other deputy, Dolan, what is her problem? Thanks Fiondil, I'm very, very busy and tired but keep reading.
This happened some chapters back, but I forgot to mention how impressed a was with Namo's “For I am Death" and his dialogue with Maddy, you write him so approachable that I tend to forget who he is.
Author's reply
Hi Fantasia. We'll see what Maddy decides about things in the next chaper. And I doubt we've seen the last of Farrell. I'm sure if I ever get around to writing the next installment he'll show up. We'll have to see.
I'm glad you were impressed with Námo's "For I am Death" conversation with Maddy and it is easy to forget just who he is, especially when he's play being Nate. *grin*
Thanks for reviewing. I really appreciate it.

Fantastic chapter. The good folks in Wiseman had an eye opening experience for sure. My favorite part was Eonwe wagging his fingers at Tom Pederson. I have in mind the TV show, Babylon 5, where a character did the same to one of the prime villains. Finrod also preached quite a good sermon on petty differences in religion blinding us to the fact that we are all in this together.
Author's reply
Hi UTfrog. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter. Eönwë is irrepressible, isn't he? *grin* Much like Glorfindel in that regard. Anyway, thanks for leaving a comment. I really appreciate it.

· Chapter 84: Court’s Ending
Farrell certainly hasn't won himself any friends here. Not among the Elves and Mortals of Wiseman (including the cops, and the judge hearing his case), not his fellow agents (who I'd guess are quite angry at the way he had scr*wed them over) and not Maddy, who is supposed to be his boss.
That Bradford sounds like a nasty, nasty person, and I'd guess it was his influence that shaped it into the snake pit you have described it as, Fiondil. Maddie will certainly have a time wrangling ophidians at the Agency, finding and identifying the various live, venomous, agitated snakes on the verge of escape; quiescent venomous snakes; non-venomous garden snakes; dead snakes; or things that looked like snakes but weren’t, such as large, sluggish worms. And Farrell is clearly of the live, venomous variety.
I'd guess that a part of the reason for Finrod's Court was to open Maddie's eyes to what is going on at the Agency. And the Elves do need someone who sees to their interests in Washington, and who prevents the Military or Homeland Security from descending on Wiseman to remove all the Elves to a biolab somewhere. And if Maddie is able to properly clean house there, and also properly mending her fences with Alex and Amroth, Alex, being officially not dead, could be a very useful sort of person to have in place in Wiseman, just in case someone starts sniffing around the Elves in the future.
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. You guess right about one of the reasons for Finrod's Court in opening Maddy's eyes to what was going on. We will see in the next chapter what decisions she makes concerning her role in all this. Bradford seems slimy considering how he taped people without them knowing it. One has to wonder who else he was blackmailing besides Amroth. Anyway, thanks for commenting. Just two more chapters to go before we wrap this story up for the time being.

Helloooo!!!! It's me again!!!
From this chapter, I think that while Amroth was right in claiming to have been betrayed by a supposed friend, I am still not comfortable with having Amroth live happily for the next millennia or for as long as when the Final Battle arrives, without acknowledging that he was wrong in killing someone whose only fault was not being the friend he expected (he Amroth behaved to and without him paying for it, he’s got everything going for him… reunited with his sweetheart reconnecting with those of his race and UNWISELY choosing to have children in a time of conflict or future conflict… yes he may have suffered for fifteen years and that is as nothing for this immortal beings… I am not by any means necessary justifying the mortal, HE I am sure has already answered to the only one that matters the ONE “Eru”, but Amroth hasn’t and unless he dies in the near future and I really don’t want that to happen, I mean I like him and understand his predicament, I still think he should pay for killing Sam, because I don’t think it’s “fair” that the agents should be punished for the death of those two petty criminals that they did not kill and for torturing civilians when that is part of their job description.
Now that we know the truth I can’t help but feel for Maddy Washburn, surrounded by enemies in her “own” agency, and not being able to identify friend or foe, having to tread carefully with everyone to learn what is going on… by seeing her point of view I for one don’t blame her for Shanna Machell’s death, she tried to her best ability to dissuade her of investigating further without giving away the situation so as not to put her in MORE danger. And I am persuaded that she didn’t investigate those responsible for her death because she had a greater situation that needed to be dealt with, that of her not receiving mails from her field agents and of the issuing of a termination order WITH her approval and signature. So I don’t see why Amroth is so mad at her, I understand Artemus but not Amroth, he wants everything!!! He does wrong killing someone and then blames everyone and holds them accountable for everything else but not HIMSELF???? Self righteous prick!!! And the other elves because he IS one of them don’t judge him and all but say “Ahh don’t worry, your right and we are not going to JUDGE YOU!!!!…. But instead will judge those you left behind like Maddy and Artemus for starters, for THEIR actions were sooooo wrong compared to yours my friend and late King of Lorinand, who suffered sooooo much following after his beloved and misplacing her for many millennia…”
The complainer XD
Monalex
Author's reply
I'm sure you're not the only reader with a problem with Amroth, Monalex. One has to look at it from his viewpoint, though. He was a virtual prisoner, almost a slave, to Bradford for over 50 years (not 15 as you say), and so his killing Bradford might be seen as an act of self-defense in an attempt to escape from his kidnapper, since Bradford in a sense did kidnap him and force him to work for him with threats against his life. So, as far as Amroth was concerned, he was justified in killing Bradford and making sure the man did not threaten him (or anyone else) again. And as everyone points out, since there's no body and no proof that Amroth had anything to do with Bradford's disappearance (other than the fact that he has admitted it to certain people), then there is no reason for anyone to prosecute him for Bradford's murder. They can't do it on Farrell's say-so. At any rate, none of the other Elves actually approve of what Amroth did but they are in no position to judge him and send him to jail. And I'm sure they have all had to do some bad things to stay alive as long as they have and protect themselves from the mortals around them.
Anyway, I don't necessarily approve of Amroth's decisions to do what he did, I only record them. *grin*
Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.

Basically that's what Elf Academy Part Deux is all about, You're either with us or agin' us! We have to work together or it's going to be a very sorry world to pass on to future generations!
I do wish Amroth could have found some other way to discredit Bradford, something must have triggered his decision to take him out, other than his posting to Kuwait.
It will be interesting to see just what Maddy finds out when she gets back to Washington, hopefully not a 'need to know' stone wall!
Waiting for Monday, if I am still here, the craziness is upon us! Crazy hours, crazy customers, crazy sales and no end in sight until February!
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Huggs,
Lynda
Author's reply
Hi Lynda. Yup, just about. As for Amroth, he had been plotting his revenge on Bradford for some time and Kuwait was just a convenient excuse to lure Bradford away, nothing more. Amroth couldn't afford to let Bradford live for fear that he would manage to do what he threatened to do to Amroth. He couldn't take that chance, thus Bradford had to be eliminated. And we'll see what Maddy decides to do in the next chapter. Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it.

It was an interesting trial. It's a bit difficult to argue that the Elves are "godless", when there are two angels to say that thay aren't *grin*.
Again, there's the mention of how important Wiseman is for the future. It's strange as the town is so small and far in the north, but the Valar's (or the One's?) plot wouldn't really work for some large and more important city.
It must have been quite an experience for the people of Wiseman to see an Elvish court and a couple of angels attending it. And Námo's little show of changing the appearance in lats chapter was great, not many will doubt him after that. It is also very realistic that not all are happy that there are going to be even more elves.
Is Farrell blind or why didn't he notice that Amroth looks a lot like the other people at the Academy (which should have made him suspect that if that one is an elf, the others might be too)? Though it was funny when Farrell asked Finrod, of all people, why he didn't seem suprised that Amroth was an elf.
Author's reply
Hi someone. I'm sure Finrod's court and everything that happened there became a nine-day wonder for the people of Wiseman and many a conversation around the office water-cooler was about it. I think Farrell just wasn't with it or else he would've realized that his revelation wasn't a revelation at all. Some people are just naturally dense. Anyway, thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate it very much.

About time we get to the nitty-gritty here. Am glad Eonwe was there for Maddy's sake, and that she was willing to be truthful about how she learned things were going. And I'm proud of her for her honesty and her determination to find out just what was going on and why.
Author's reply
Apparently Eönwë decided not to trust anyone else with the mission of keeping an eye on the Agency and helping Maddy fight the forces of evil there, though she was unaware of his presence. Perhaps now she'll be even more willing to fight the good fight knowing she has allies even if she can't see them. Thanks for reviewing, Larner. I appreciate it very much.

I think Nate/Námo is having too much fun here. LOL! Hopefully the Doubting Thomases of Wiseman will doubt no longer. I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter, Calenlassiel. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.
I wish all court cases were just as interesting as this one. There is drama for sure, but some truth is finally coming out. I wonder if Mrs. Dunlap was tampering with Maddy's incoming mail and such to keep her in the dark. She has certainly been there long enough. Especially if Maddy was trying to figure out what was going on around her office and trying to figure out who she can trust. It would seem some people are not who they say they are within the agency.
With Namo and Eonwe now somewhat participating in the court proceedings, things are going to get pretty interesting. I have a feeling Farrell and the other agents are going to get a taste of Namo's type of chastising.
Thanks for the cliff hanger. I enjoy taking guesses about what's going to happen next.
Author's reply
Hi Clouded Leopard. That's a very interesting theory about Mrs. Dunlap. You have to watch out for those grandmas baking cookies. They're a dangerous lot. LOL! I actually have no real idea who in the agency might be trying to keep Maddy in the dark. Perhaps someday if I write the next sequel and Maddy is in it we'll find out.
And with Námo and Eönwë in court now, things will get very interesting indeed. I'm glad you don't mind the cliffhangers. I don't do them to be mean, the way most readers seem to think, but to keep people interested and wondering what's going to happen next. I am afraid most readers today never experienced the old movie and TV serial in which each episode ended with a cliffhanger. That was part of the fun of watching them.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read and review. I appreciate it very much.

Evil Cliffee King Strikes Again! Forces Readers to Wait Until Friday!
Headline's from Monday's Edition of the Valinor Voice.
Readers of Lord Fiondil's latest work, Elf Academy Part Deux, were again frustrated by his Muses Love of 'Cliffees'! This entertaing tale of Edhel taking over an Edain school to help train them for the Dagor Dagorath has many people here waiting anxiously for Monday's and Friday's installments, talk on the street, on these days at least, centers around his latest chapter and his Muses penchant for Cliff Hangers!
'We're getting to the interesting part, can't wait to see what Mr. Farrell has to say!' comments Morofindel, an Inn keeper here in Tirion, 'I have to purchase extra copies of the paper on Mondays and Fridays, some of them seem to 'go missing' on those days, I can't think why!'
' I am so enjoying this story, it is intereesting to see how the Edain handle things and how they live, it is so differant to how things are done here' from Mistress Serinde, a seamstress from Eldamass, visiting here in Tirion, 'I am particularly interested in the clothing styles of the Edain and Lord Fiondil is so good at giving us descriptions of what they are wearing.'
Anyone interested in reading this story in its entirety may purchase back copies from the publisher.

You picked another awful cliffhanger but it was at a reasonable place. I got even more than I had hoped for with both Lord Namo and Eowne appearing. I love Tom's question and answer. I sure hope some of the religious leaders who were scornful of the elves were present at the trial. I am glad Maddy at least tried, mostly to do the right thing. This was a fantastic chapter.
For other readers who live in the northeastern US, my prayers are with you. I live in Central Virginia where we are expecting heavy rain and wind, but nothing like the coast already got.

Hi UTfrog. Well, the chapter would've been way too long otherwise. I have no doubt ALL of the religious leaders are there. Heh. I _thought_ Námo would pop in for a visit! It will be interesting to see the repercussions of that, both with Finrod's court and later. Námo certainly seems to be keeping Maddy honest, at least. But what will Farrell's reaction to his presence be?
I also really wonder about what is happening with the Agency. It certainly sounds as if there are some very peculiar goings on there!
It sounds as if you are in for some really Interesting weather. Stay safe! And I hope you won't get too much storm damage where you live. :-)
