Thank you! I feel sorry for Celeborn for what he knows and can't comment on. Thanks for reading (or in this case rereading:-) ) and reviewing!

Agape4Gondor · 29 January 2013 · Chapter 29
Thus begins the past that is now Haldir's future. How bizarre. How horrifying. but it seemed most odd to have Thranduil's name associated with this battle. *g* I find it also difficult to realize that Gilwen has not a clue as to what the future holds. I know it's best that Haldir keep this knowledge from her, but it is disconcerting. And now I have read to the end of this chapter and sit with tears in my eyes. Dearest Haldir and his brothers. I had not expected this. I don't know why, but I hadn't. And for Taurion to be Beleg!!!! WOW... This was an excellent twist. I loved every moment of this tale. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Author's reply
It is indeed a grand loop of events, isn't it? Thranduil seemed like a good enough messenger to me to send to Haldir to summon his warriors to the battle :-) Haldir felt he had to keep Gilwen in the dark about certain things and his brothers were the same with their families as well. I didn't want my readers to expect the ending to come in a battle like this. I intentionally built of the departure before it to seem like just another battle like so many others that had been and would be. I couldn't have them expecting to meet their own ends either. The whole thing with Taurion and Beleg I planned form the very beginning and I do hint at the characteristics of Beleg in descriptions of Taurion from Haldir's perspective - even in the meaning of his name and the ill fates of the sons of Lorien. If you skim back through starting about chapter 15 or so, you will find hints about him that will now make you go "Aha!" Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing! The epilogue is still to come and will tie up a few more loose ends.
Larner · 29 January 2013 · Chapter 29
Unfortunately, Haldir knows what becomes of his son as well. Lovely that he had the making of the Elf he honored the most! And he has indeed earned his rest.
Author's reply
Haldir does know what becomes of his son, but it is a destiny which will live on in song and legend. If his son has to meet such an end at least it is the end of a life worthy of elves recording it in song - which is about the highest praise an elf to give to another's accomplishments. I don't think that anything could have made Haldir more proud - even training all of those warriors who would pass on his knowledge for generations to come. Yes, he has earned his rest. Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing! Be sure to check out the epilogue when it is posted :-)
obsidianj · 26 January 2013 · Chapter 28
It must have been a relief to Thingol that these two finally work together. I like it that Haldir finally finds some peace. I don't want to think about the implications of time travel to deeply when it involves immortal beings. Makes the mind boggle.
Author's reply
It had to have been difficult for Thingol to have two guys with lots of useful knowledge constantly at odds with each other. Haldir deserves the peace as well and the opportunity to find a new routine in this new land and settle in - again. Haldir and his buddies probably don't want to have to keep thinking about the intricacies of their time travel either, though they do keep stumbling into things they wish they hadn't. Poor guys! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Larner · 24 January 2013 · Chapter 28
At least there is peace now between the forest Elves and those born in Doriath. Love Melian's interference here--she is as wise as ever! Delightful that they are confused as to who is influencing whom! Heh!
Author's reply
Melian is very wise and is handling the whole situation very well having the guys from the future there in Doriath. The paradox of who is influencing whom is indeed a fun one for the elves to have to sort out or to simply give up on and try not to think about. LOL! They better behave themselves so they don't' end up in history and embarrass themselves. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Agape4Gondor · 23 January 2013 · Chapter 28
Very nicely done. I loved the friendships that are now formed. But to think of Celeborn - :)
Author's reply
Thank you :-) The friendships needed to form in order to facilitate everyone working together. Celeborn is still young, likely younger than Haldir's second son and he is also a more obscure prince being a grandson of the king's younger brother Elmo. I don't think that Celeborn had much need or cause for being the one in charge and since he is so far down the food chain in an immortal crowd of people, he may not see himself as likely ever needing to be the guy in charge. Also, he probably was really embarrassed by getting injured first time out with the big boys in a fight. It's a male pride thing as I see it. He's over it by the time he has to rule in Lorien, many thousands of years in the future, but he's just a young'un in the eyes of the elves in Doriath at this point. Thanks for reading and reviewing! I appreciate it very much!
Sunny · 23 January 2013 · Chapter 28
It clearly hat to take spilled blood - spilled in battle against common enemies - for the stiff-necked Mablung to see that yes, the warrior arts Haldir and his friends had brought with them had merit, and for Haldir's equally stiff-necked son Taurion to figure out that these Doriathrim weren't such bad people at all! And it was rather appropriate for Taurion and Mablung to become gwedyr
Author's reply
Sometimes a slap in the face with reality is what it takes to make someone open his eyes and see. Haldir was a very patient soul in this unlike his son and Mablung who of course had to learn things the hard way. At least the lessons appear to have been learned now and everyone now knows it as well! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
obsidianj · 20 January 2013 · Chapter 27
Luckily, nobody dies. And it seems they finally can work together. Or do they do so only in dire circumstances? Only time will tell, but I got the feeling the mutual appreciation will last for longer.
Author's reply
It would have been very bad for Haldir if anyone had died. Fortunately they did come to appreciate each other. Yay them! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Agape4Gondor · 18 January 2013 · Chapter 27
Phew! I'm glad I read on. Now I can sleep tonight. Really great last few chapters. Very short tempers and frayed nerves and good action scenes. Loved it all.
Author's reply
Sleep is good. It leaves you rested and ready for the next chapter to be posted :-) I'm glad you enjoyed the last few chapters even if Haldir surely didn't! LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing!

What a mess. Gotta read on.
Author's reply
yes, indeed, a very big mess. Thanks for reading and reviewing and reading on :-)
Agape4Gondor · 18 January 2013 · Chapter 25
OHG. I just loved the comments. No wonder the trees were laughing. They could see/hear the future! Oh good grief. I'm sure Haldir is quite sorry that he opened his mouth. I'm sure Damrod will have a fit with so many 'warriors' to baby. *g* *g* I love the Sinda in a tree phrase. Handir has some wisdom, too! I loved the way Haldir 'announced' the new arrangements. PS - take care of yourself, lots of water, and perhaps a stint with the laughing trees! *hugs*
Author's reply
Yeah...the Galadhrim did sort of take the go forth and multiply thing with lot of enthusiasm. LOL! No one will like having so many of the Sindar around as you will see. Handir is very wise and that balances his brother's attitude which is a good thing. I am still recovering and I'd love some time with the laughing trees :-) Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Agape4Gondor · 18 January 2013 · Chapter 24
Let me say right away that sometimes I could just choke Damrod. 'nuf said. As for knowing the future... who would have ever thought that it would cause such trouble. I feel so for Haldir and his men. This is a difficult situation to be put into. You write it well.
Author's reply
I think Haldir would gladly join you in choking Damrod if it were not for the fact that he would have to deal with Gilwen afterward. LOL! Hal and his buddies are in a very difficult situation as they repeatedly rediscover much to their irritation and dismay. poor guys. Thank you for the compliment :-) Thanks as always for reading and reviewing. It is much appreciated!
demeter d · 17 January 2013 · Chapter 27
Wow! A few minutes of planning, then lots of furious battle. It was certainly good of the orcs to release the elves from the spiders, wasn't it? And good that all of the parties are now working together. It is interesting to think about the future possiblities for many whom they have come to know there. And we wonders, precious, have Haldir's own parents been born, yet? What happens if he runs across THEM? So many fascinating questions can come up when one plays with time!
Author's reply
well, you know orcs can be helpful sometimes...not that many occasions immediately come to mind, but there a re a few out there in history like this one. LOL! There are many possibilities for the future. Haldir and his buddies were born in Lothlorien, I can tell you that much. You'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out...muwahahahahaha Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Morn · 17 January 2013 · Chapter 27
Well, popcorn at the ready for this chapter ;) I liked the comments about Thranduil. Must be odd seeing one of the most powerful elves they know acting so unimportant. No wonder they are concerned: killing off he and Celeborn would just about change the entire history of Middle Earth! No Legolas, no Arwen... wow. Nice to see the elves finally getting along and hopefully Haldir's son finally learning an important lesson.
Author's reply
Hope you remembered butter for the popcorn :-) Yeah...they would just completely rewrite their own histories if they let Celeborn and Thranduil died. no pressure there! we'll see how well the lessons were learned. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Ellynn · 17 January 2013 · Chapter 27
Aww, nice end of the chapter. I'm glad no one was killed.
Author's reply
Thank you! it is always nice when no one has to die for folks to come to an understanding. LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Larner · 16 January 2013 · Chapter 27
Hooray! Finally, cooperation and mutual appreciation! At LONG last! About time! And we are grateful to one another for the right reasons! Excellent!
Author's reply
It is unfortunate that it took something as terrible as this for everyone to try to start getting along and more fully appreciate each other. But there you have it! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
eiluj · 16 January 2013 · Chapter 27
Whew! That worked out well. And I am so glad that Celeborn and Thranduil were not eaten!
Author's reply
Yeah, it would have been rather bad all around if Celeborn and Thranduil had been eaten. Interesting paradox it would have created as well. yikes! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Agape4Gondor · 14 January 2013 · Chapter 23
What an excellent, heartening chapter. I loved the meeting with Celeborn and Thranduil. Who would have thought? What a challenge for Haldir. Nicely done!
Author's reply
This whole ordeal has been a challenge for Haldir and he is handling it surprisingly well. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
obsidianj · 13 January 2013 · Chapter 26
That blow-up was long in coming. Dividing the groups was such a nice idea as long as it lasted. Now to make amends and rescue the rest of the group. Maybe after this experience they come to a better understanding. Haldir showed remarkable restraint with his son...
Author's reply
Yes, the blow-up was inevitable. I think Haldir showed restraint with his son because Mablung was being just as bad and frequently provoked Taurion, too. We can hope they will understand each other better after all of this. They just have to get through this first... Thank you for reading and reviewing!
Morn · 9 January 2013 · Chapter 26
And sending them off seemed like such a good idea at the time, eh? What a cliffhanger! Another great chapter, I'm on the edge of my seat.
Author's reply
Thanks! I'm sure they were probably thinking, "Yes, please. Go get lost in the forest." they just weren't expecting the potential consequences. LOL! Go pop some popcorn in preparation for the rescue chapter. It makes the edge of the seat more comfortable :-) Thank you for reading and reviewing!
Sunny · 9 January 2013 · Chapter 26
Oh dear - what a cliffie! So Taurion was the first on the scene and immediately started to do his very best to heal the despised Doriathrin ellon, who, moreover, is the son of his nemesis Mablung. And the Doriathrin would-be warriors are getting a first-hand experience of just what a warrior's job is. I suspect there will be much less sniping (from both sides) after this. But I also suspect that nothing less than this would serve to weld the Galadhrim and the Sindar together, and teach proper respect to all.
Author's reply
Sometimes the real world is a scary place and Menegroth provides such a nice sheltered life...Who would have thought? Lots of people get to learn some lessons this time around and we can only hope that the right people learn the right lessons. Nothing else was working to try to get them to get along with each other. Poor Haldir! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Ellynn · 9 January 2013 · Chapter 26
Huh, another cliffhanger. I hope you'll be back next Wednesday. ;)
Author's reply
Yep, another cliffy LOL! I will be back next Wednesday. I am ahead on chapters again, finally. yay! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
Larner · 8 January 2013 · Chapter 26
Now at last the lessons must be put into play, and they will most likely find the peace and respect for one another that Haldir has tried to instill for so long. Mablung has a lot of pride to swallow, it appears, as does Taurion.
Author's reply
One would hope that they will find peace and respect for one another. It just might be a feast with humble pie all around and a healthy swig of pride to wash it all down. LOL! Thanks for reading and reviewing!
obsidianj · 26 December 2012 · Chapter 25
I found this story a few days ago and read it as fast as I could. I love it. I like your Haldir and the struggles he and his friends experience trying to fit into this strange time and place. Even if you know history, living it is something else.
Author's reply
Welcome to the story! I'm so pleased you are enjoying it :-) Living through history is indeed very different from learning about it after the fact, and it is amazing what never makes it into the history books - not that the Sindar or the other tribes not from Valinor had much to do with writing books before the Noldor returned... They even ignored Daaeron's writing system though the dwarves loved it. I suspect Haldir would have a few bones to pick with the loremasters of the Third Age concerning details of the pre-First Age -- if he ever were able to get back to that time and corner them in a room. LOL! Thank you for reading and for reviewing! I appreciate it very much!
Morn · 25 December 2012 · Chapter 25
I've been really negligent with my reviews so I do apologise for that. I've been keeping up to date and been loving it. Really enjoying the reactions to the wood elves! Haha, cannot wait to see how living alongside each other like that! Haldir and Mablung's reaction was wonderful. Really enjoying Haldir realising how different he is from the Sindar after feeling like they hsd dominated the silvan culture. Merry christmas.
Author's reply
It is amazing how one culture influences another and, as Haldir is learning, how much can happen in a few thousand years to influence things as well. I pity Haldir for what he has endured and for what he is about to endure...LOL! Thank you so very much for reading all along and for takign the tiemto tell me how much you are enjoying the story :-) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
