Raksha The Demon · 12 May 2018 · Chapter 4: At First Sight?

A very nice interpretation of the first meeting of my favorite Tolkien couple! I can definitely see Faramir allowing warmth and hope to touch him again on meeting this unusual young woman.

Author's reply

They're a favourite of mine too :) I'm so pleased you enjoyed this, it's one of my earliest pieces! Thank you for taking the time to comment.

Larner · 8 May 2018 · Chapter 13: All Shall Fade

And he learns, as have so many others, that the revenge he wrung from the Elves in the end was empty, and anything but sweet.

Author's reply

Yes, he does, wicked old thing. Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, Larner.

Larner · 8 May 2018 · Chapter 12: A Prince and a Chief

I rejoice that he appreciates her true worth!

Author's reply

I'm glad! I love Haleth an unreasonable amount, and would love to write more of her one day.

Larner · 8 May 2018 · Chapter 11: Þerindë

Yes--the Noldor heritage remains in the lives of the Dunedain, doesn't it? And she thinks that it will be to Feanor that the honor will be granted to rebuild the world? Interesting conceit.

Author's reply

I've always been interested in the fire imagery around Feanor, and the motif of the Flame Imperishable that burns at the heart of Ea. I don't think Miriel's idea is so impossible ;)

Larner · 8 May 2018 · Chapter 10: Beware, Thief

Ah, but we see the beginnings of his arrogance and desire to be the worst of all of the dragons! Nicely done!

Author's reply

Thank you! I enjoyed writing baby Smaug.

Larner · 7 April 2018 · Chapter 4: At First Sight?

And a good thing, that!

Author's reply

Definitely a good thing all round...I don't think Aragorn's kingdom would have been half so successful without Faramir and Eowyn's support.

Larner · 7 April 2018 · Chapter 3: Second Breakfast

Aha! Love that the sons support their father's fabled hospitality.

Author's reply

I love imagining what the sons of Elrond might have been like...we don't see enough of them in canon! Author Reply: I love imagining what the sons of Elrond might have been like...we don't see enough of them in canon!

shirebound · 21 January 2018 · Chapter 11: Þerindë

but this was why she had returned What an interesting idea!

Author's reply

Thanks, shirebound! I'm glad you think so - even with all their mad bad deeds, I still find myself on the side of the Noldor...

Kitt Otter · 13 September 2013 · Chapter 8: Nine Black Cats and One White

I hope you don't mind my spamming this... I KNEW I had read a lot of your stories, but not here, then finally I remembered, it was waaaaay back at lotrfanfiction. You'd written the story about the girl reborn as a horse in Rohan, and others that I really liked. I've gone too long! I hadn't heard of the archive Faerie. I'll go sign myself up right now... Anyway, I am glad that you're still writing!!

Author's reply

I don't mind at all! Yes, that was Second Chance, way back in the day. That story is posted over at Faerie now; Esteliel set up that site when Adora gave up part of the ownership of lotrfanfiction and there was talk of it being run for profit (not sure how that would have worked with copyright regs and all, but, y'know). As I reposted, I reworked some of my stories, so they might be a bit different from the way you remember them; I took a long break from fanfic in my last two years of university (I was desperately trying to write my dissertation!) and when I came back to fanfic I could see a lot of my work needed improvement. Hope to see you over at Faerie! There's a chat box there, so members can talk to each other about RL that way instead of having to have conversations via review, which is quite cool :)

Kitt Otter · 12 September 2013 · Chapter 7: The Taste of Meat

My skin is crawling. When Saruman fell he took with him whoever he could!

Author's reply

He did indeed! I'm not sure where this strange, dark little piece came from; I'm not normally drawn to writing about cannibalism. Thanks for R&Ring, Kitt.

Kitt Otter · 12 September 2013 · Chapter 8: Nine Black Cats and One White

The white cat embodies all you'd expect in a feline - independent, clever, and a bit traitorous!

Author's reply

Thank you :) that was the idea! All these reviews have made my day - thank you for taking the time out to leave them!

Kitt Otter · 12 September 2013 · Chapter 5: A Friend In Need

Very sweet! We can see how strong the relationship between these three is going to be, and why Theodred's death much later will be such a heartbreak. I don't think you need feel like this should be 'hidden' here. :)

Author's reply

Thanks, Kitt :) I actually did move it out of this collection and onto its own page over at Faerie; I haven't got round to it over here, though. Plus I don't want to lose my reviews!!

Kitt Otter · 12 September 2013 · Chapter 2: Mushrooms

hahaha. I hope Estel's encounter with laundry goes better for the twins! I remember a similar revulsion to mushrooms when I was little. Now I can't have a real meal without them!

Author's reply

Hi Kitt :) long time no speak! I love mushrooms too; the meal the twins make for Estel is one I often make for myself :) mushrooms, cheese and herbs, nom nom nom...

Kevana · 9 September 2013 · Chapter 8: Nine Black Cats and One White

"the cat who walks by herself" – that is perfect! Love the Kipling reference, and the unique twist you put on this. I adore this, and your other stories here. They're wonderful. You have a fantastic series going, I eagerly wait for what you come up with next! :) -Kevana

Author's reply

Thank you, Kevana - I'm glad you've enjoyed them :)

shirebound · 8 September 2013 · Chapter 1: Sam's Last Gift

I just love Elanor's last line.

Author's reply

Thank you! :)

shirebound · 8 September 2013 · Chapter 6: Elf Friend

He’s our ancestor, that great sailor of the stars. What an inheritance, and forever-hope. I truly hope he finds what he seeks.

Author's reply

I like to think that he did ;)

Larner · 8 September 2013 · Chapter 8: Nine Black Cats and One White

Kipling would be proud of this cat, I think! Although I found myself a bit disappointed to find she didn't find a cockroach to serve as her companion. Heh! Love that this cat finds a means to undermine Beruthiel's malice, and intends to abandon her in the end.

Author's reply

Thank you, Larner! No, no cockroach for this cat - but I'm glad you think Kipling would be proud of her.

Tigger · 17 January 2013 · Chapter 5: A Friend In Need

Don't ever be embrassed or ashamed to show this to anyone. You should read *my* first LOTR Fan Fic story. I cringe now when I look back on it. This is lovely and you have the voices of two little lost ones trying to make sense of their new reality absolutely dead on!! One of my favourite parts was when Theodred was about to turn away until he heard Eowyn's sob. Only someone w/a heart of stone would turn away after hearing that. Sigh...This is just a lovely little story about the first days of the siblings living in Meduseld and thank you so much w/sharing it w/us. :o)

Author's reply

Hi, Tigger! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you, for some reason I missed this notification. I'm so glad you enjoyed this story as it is very old - I wrote it over five years ago, so it's good to know people are still getting pleasure out of it.

Larner · 5 January 2013 · Chapter 7: The Taste of Meat

Saruman certainly didn't do right by his henchman. I can imagine this internal dialogue.

Author's reply

Yes, I ended up feeling rather sorry for Wormtongue. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment.

Larner · 5 January 2013 · Chapter 6: Elf Friend

I hope that his father found the aid he needed. Lovely to think that Aragorn's descendants still remember.

Author's reply

Thank you, Larner :) I like to think some help arrived...

Lyana · 30 December 2012 · Chapter 6: Elf Friend

Oh, I loved this! I really liked how you translated the passing of legend from father to son into a specific time and place - very believable.

Author's reply

Thank you, Lyana; I'm glad you enjoyed it.

shirebound · 30 December 2012 · Chapter 6: Elf Friend

This is very moving and gave me chills... in a good way.

Author's reply

I'm very glad :) thank you for reading and reviewing!

Larner · 19 November 2012 · Chapter 5: A Friend In Need

I love the deftness of his work to befriend them. They need such friendship now. Well done.

Author's reply

They do indeed...I like Theodred (at least I think I do - we see so little of him, it's hard to tell what he's like!) and I feel he was very close to his cousins. Thank you for taking the time to read and review all these little snippets :)

Larner · 19 November 2012 · Chapter 4: At First Sight?

Ah, but they needed one another to find healing!

Author's reply

Yes, they did; I read them both very much as wounded soldiers suffering from PTSD, so I think they would understand one another very well.

Larner · 19 November 2012 · Chapter 3: Older and Fouler

Wonderfully eerie!
