Oh my goodness! But what a perfect chapter for that verse!

Oh my goodness! Bilbo and Elrond make a good team. I'll be anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Excellent mingling of the line from the poem and the story. Now, to bring Estel home and see to his injuries....

Dreamflower · 9 January 2014 · Chapter 3: The old that is strong does not wither

Oh, lovely! I've always thought the idea that both were adoptive parents would make a special bond between Bilbo and Elrond, and I'm glad to see it explored here. The love that both hold the sons of their hearts is clear. Why do I get the feeling that Elrond himself is the one who mended the toy horse? I wonder what's held Aragorn up? I will be very eager to find out!

Quite the way to learn that the Dunadan is someone he has actually known for quite some time! Poor Bilbo! But at least he should be able to aid Elrond to ease his own heart.

Yay! I really like this story--glad to see another chapter!

I am enjoying this work of yours very much! I feel at some point I'm going to tear up at what you write. It's so touching and I have no problem visualizing as I read each chapter. Thank you for another story to look forward to from your writings.

Winterwitch · 14 August 2013 · Chapter 2: Not all those who wander are lost

And so they meet again. I wonder if they finally find out that they already met so long ago. Has Aragorn ever learnt the name of the Hobbit helping him, and Bilbo at this point Aragorn's name?

Winterwitch · 14 August 2013 · Chapter 1: All that is gold does not glitter

What a nice little scene! Imagine Bilbo and Aragorn meeting for the first time like that. Aragorn is quite the adventurous kid, of course, good that Bilbo could come to the rescue!

obsidianj · 23 March 2013 · Chapter 2: Not all those who wander are lost

Oh, what a lovely story. I had tears in my eyes at the end. Poor Aragorn and poor Bilbo. Two lonely wanderers. You portrayed the elderly Bilbo so well. His wandering thoughts, but at the same time he is still able to help.

How lovely to see another chapter of this! I do so love to see Bilbo's friendship with Aragorn, and this is a wonderful idea of how it might have come about! I also like seeing that in spite of his age, Bilbo still can be brave enough to wield Sting! And I love the sly little references both to the verse that inspired this story, but also to little bits of LotR! VERY nicely done!

Larner · 18 March 2013 · Chapter 2: Not all those who wander are lost

Now, that is quite the meeting between them! "I'd like to join you, but first I'd best do in the orcs that have been following you!" At least Bilbo's Hobbit skills are enough to save them both a bit of work!

What a marvelous first meeting! This reads like something missing from the Professor's tale. I enjoyed this very much.

Author's reply

Thank you very much! It is actually a second meeting, but they don't know it yet :)

Winterwitch · 25 January 2013 · Chapter 1: All that is gold does not glitter

What a sweet story! I love how well it fits into the canon story and all the small detail you put in. Bilbo's buttons, for once. Great work!

Oh, this is marvelous! I especially love the little details like... Bilbo stared at the narrow hole between the rocks. He was suddenly getting afraid for his buttons. What a wonderful, hobbity tale for this special anniversary of The Hobbit. I look forward to the next chapter.

Author's reply
