obsidianj · 2 April 2014 · Chapter 51: The Eaves of Mirkwood

The tension is mounting. I just hope nothing really bad happens. I have to cling to the knowledge that Aragorn succeeds in delivering Gollum to Thranduil and getting away mostly unscathed.

obsidianj · 2 April 2014 · Chapter 50: Making Ready

Leave it to Gollum to ruin a nice stay. Aragorn is so lucky to have arrived at Beorn's place. He finally has a decent outfit. Although, I wouldn't put it past the author to strip him of most of his new possessions on the final days of his trip ~g~

obsidianj · 28 March 2014 · Chapter 48: Kindly Lodgings

Aragorn is in good hands in this family. Finally, he is able to rest and eat and heal. I love the interaction between Aragorn and Una and the children.

obsidianj · 28 March 2014 · Chapter 47: A Beggar at the Door

Safe, at last. But it was a near thing. I can imagine how painful thawing out is. I remember thawing my hands after hikes in freezing conditions in water. The water was cold and it still hurt... a lot. I don't want to know what Aragorn is going through frozen stiff as he is. Love the description of the Beornings.

obsidianj · 27 March 2014 · Chapter 46: The Baker and the Ferryman

No food, but at least a little warmth and a dry way over the river. I don't think Aragorn would survive another swim in frigid waters. I was wondering about his bloody nose and why it would not stop to bleed. Let's just hope it is nothing serious and just the dry air.

obsidianj · 27 March 2014 · Chapter 45: Over the Road and Up to the Town

*sigh* He finally reaches a town and other humans, but the way he looks he will be lucky if they don't chase him out into the cold again... I just hope, he gets at least a few crumbs to eat and a warm night at a fire. Although Gollum will be no help...

obsidianj · 27 March 2014 · Chapter 44: Roosting in a Storm

As if hunger and cold and snow is not enough, now you also send Wargs on his tail. You are an evil author *g*. Aragorn needs a real break soon.

obsidianj · 27 March 2014 · Chapter 43: Blessings of Kementári

Not sure if I would call pine bark a meal, but Aragorn is starving. It is better than nothing. Hopefully, he will find some more sustenance soon. I think he got some help. The powers just knew how stubborn he is.

obsidianj · 27 March 2014 · Chapter 42: A Shift in the Wind

What a pitiful meal. My cats eat the little things in one sitting and here it has to provide for two starved people. I just hope Aragorn can find more game soon or he will still starve. Your description of starving is very colorful and harrowing.

obsidianj · 27 March 2014 · Chapter 41: No Game

And so the dreary journey continues. I'm shivering with Aragorn. How he manages to go on is beyond me. Just reading it is difficult. I hope he will find something decent to eat soon.

Eva-Maria · 17 March 2014 · Chapter 58: The Depths of the Earth

Greetings from Austria, I very much enjoy your story and am delighted by the sudden unexpected turns in the storyline. Good work! I'm really looking forward to the conversation of Gandalf and Aragorn - please bring on the next chapter. Best, Eva-Maria

obsidianj · 9 February 2014 · Chapter 40: Nine Strokes

I think Aragorn did the right thing. Gollum needed some punishment and Aragorn did not do it lightly. And don't forget, it was a different time and culture. I think Gollum expected some kind of punishment even if he didn't want it. If Aragorn would have just ignored Gollum's machinations, he would have lost the last of his credibility.

obsidianj · 9 February 2014 · Chapter 39: Stark Survival

I feel freezing cold just reading this chapter. Aragorn still has a long way to go until he can continue on his journey. It takes more than just a small fire to thaw him out completely. Just thinking about sitting at a small fire half-naked with damp clothing makes me shiver.

obsidianj · 9 February 2014 · Chapter 38: Too Clever a Waterman

What a tense chapter. At least Aragorn is out of the water, but not out of the woods yet. He can still easily freeze to death. Hypothermia is deadly swiftly and he is certainly wet enough.

obsidianj · 5 February 2014 · Chapter 36: Birthday, Precious

That was quite a shock to hear Gollum talking about his birthday, when Aragorn's birthday was just that day. Although, it was just a coincidence and I think Gollum just remembers the long ago time when he lived in this area. But what a miserable journey. I can commiserate with Aragorn. It snowed all day today and I can't imagine being outside in this kind of weather with no shelter.

obsidianj · 5 February 2014 · Chapter 34: The Hospitality of Lothlórien

And so the comforting interlude comes to an end and the grim road is starting up again. This was a much needs break. Now Aragorn can tackle the next stretch of his long journey.

obsidianj · 5 February 2014 · Chapter 32: Guarded Rest

I love it that you included Celeborn. His manner is soothing and I think exactly the comfort Aragorn needed. But lying bound for nearly 2 days? That must hurt, no matter how tired Aragorn was.

obsidianj · 5 February 2014 · Chapter 35: Silent Sedition

Gollum is a wretch. Not that the cloak was something to write home about. The last tatters were still useful and willfully throwing it away was just mean. The comfort of Lorien didn't last long. Now Aragorn has to worry about freezing to death. Getting wet in this cold weather can kill you faster than lack of food or water.

obsidianj · 2 February 2014 · Chapter 32: Guarded Rest

Finally a decent meal. But after his deprivation it is no wonder that he can't eat it all. Now he needs a hot bath to feel like human again. I hope word from Galadriel comes soon and she will give him provisions and everything he needs for the further journey.

obsidianj · 2 February 2014 · Chapter 31: The Border-Watch

Poor Aragorn. Sleep deprivations does terrible things to you. Now he has reached a place of safety and is too muddled in his brain to give the right answers. let's hope that the Lade from Imladris interprets his name correctly.

obsidianj · 2 February 2014 · Chapter 30: A Lunatic Quest

A mallorn leaf. Let's hope the Galadhrim take pity on Aragorn and let him rest and feed him before he continues his journey.

obsidianj · 2 February 2014 · Chapter 29: Limlight

Catching a fish during the river crossing is quite a feat. But Aragorn has to be careful. Gollum is not to be trusted and here he again proves that he is not tamed.

obsidianj · 2 February 2014 · Chapter 28: Strange Eyes

Fangorn is creepy. You describe the atmosphere of the forest very well. At least Aragorn got something real to eat, even cooked. That should help him to heal better.

obsidianj · 2 February 2014 · Chapter 27: Retribution

The respite is over. For a moment I was alarmed that Gollum would do some serious harm to the ranger. It is serious enough, but it can heal on itself. But poor Aragorn really needs a safe place for some rest and food.

obsidianj · 2 February 2014 · Chapter 26: Falling Out

I knew Gollum's cooperation could not last. He was just making Aragorn forget how dangerous he is.
