Same here. I hope you're doing okay and that there is a not too serious reason for you not updating. Don't get me wrong, feel free to update in any time you like, but you're like the most constant fan-fic updater I know of, so there must be a good reason for not updating on monday and I hope there's nothing wrong.
Angwen · 28 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
Hope all is well with you. I must have missed the net about no Monday update this week. :( Waiting patiently... (ok, maybe not so patiently) Lunch is boring without you.

Hello, Great chapter as usual :) Sorry I haven't been able to review for what feels like an age, but school has been a pain in the *hum* behind *hum*. Oh well, only two and a half weeks to go before the next break, I think I'll survive. Looking forward to the next chapter, Ora.

I am bitten with curiosity as to what exactly Arafinwë did to so incense Eärwen. And he spent the equivalent of sleeping on the couch for a month! Eager ears want to hear more about this unfortunate incident... Amroth was being a bit stupid although, to be fair, his judgment was probably clouded by his spiritual exhaustion. Also, it's his first pregnancy so he's a new hand at this. Thankfully, Elrond's own experience with multiple, gestating Elflings enabled Amroth to be persuaded to accept help. The discussion about how easy the interaction between Elves and Mortals makes it clear just how full of starch and conservative Amanian society is. A chapter or two ago we were told that Nielluin, who is older now than Galadriel was in "Lord of the Rings", led a highly structured and supervised life back in Eldamar. Can't wait to see the current state of Valinórean society.

Sorry I haven't been on much; I had some radiation burns that kind of knocked me for a loop and then some. Not looking for sympathy just didn't want you to think I was blowing up a great story. :) Any who great update love all the twists and turns this has taken. I get my energy back up I will review the ones I missed :)

Well, it went better than it might have. And a workable plan of prenentative care has been set in motion.
Author's reply
Definitely, Larner, and hopefully the regime of energy lenders will make things a lot easier for both Amroth and Nimrodel, and, of course, now the triplets will have lots of "uncles" looking after them. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.
obsidianj · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
Nice trick to get Amroth to accept help. The poor guy didn't stand a chance. But he was graciously enough to accept the help in the end. You know, in the last chapter Glorfindel stormed out at the least provocation. Amroth swearing like that I would think was even worse although it was not directed at Glorfindel. By the way there is a typo: "Amroth snarled at him. “You’re doing, I take it, you interfering seren-en-orch!”" I think you meant "Your doing, I take it,..."
Author's reply
No, Amroth didn't have a chance, but it's good that he didn't fight them on it for too long. As for Glorfindel's reactions, well, Vorondur sees that his expression becomes unreadable and for some reason that seems more frightening to him than if Glorfindel had started shouting or something. At any rate, thanks for pointing out the typo, and I'd just re-read this recently and I still missed it. *sigh* And thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
obsidianj · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 111: Realizations
Glowing arrow in the sky *lol* The Maia are having too much fun. But Glorfindel storming out and slamming the door was a bit unexpected. It is worrisome that he is still that much on edge that the least bit of provocation elicits a reaction like that. His nightmares don't help either. I just hope they are not foreshadowing for things to come.
Author's reply
Hi obsidianj. I just couldn't resist the glowing arrow, it was too good not to use. Glorfindel is on a knife's edge emotionally and we'll see why in Elf Academy 4. It's symptomatic of his mugging and his nightmares, as well as dealing with the visitors from Valinor. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.
ReaderKit · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
Well, I'm glad the bonfire went well, also that the Valinor Elves seem to be settling in. Poor Glorfi just has way too much to deal with, doesn't he? Oh, Amroth, stop being so prideful and just accept help! Finally. It's a good thing there are so many qualified healers there now who know how to deal with things like this. The mental image of Elrond leaning against a counter with crossed arms and legs...it seems like a very Mortal pose. Good chapter, thanks!
Author's reply
Hi ReaderKit. Yes, it does look as if the Valinórean Elves are settling in. Glorfindel does have a lot on his plate at the moment and it's not going to get any easier as we will see. Amroth, of course, has been so used to going it alone (he's only been with other Elves for less than three years after spending millennia alone) that he's not used to asking for help, but he's not unintelligent and he sees the benefit of others lending him their energy to help him through this and having so many healers around does help. As for Elrond, I suspect he's noticed the relaxed attitude of the Wiseman Elves and the way the stand and talk and all and he is just copying them to fit in more. And really, why would we expect even Elves to be on their dignity ALL the time? ;) Thanks for reviewing. It's very much appreciated.
Kevana · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
From the sound of things, Amroth must have been absolutely exhausted. It's good to see that mom is doing well, even if dad was running himself into the ground. I agree, it would be cute for the kids to have many "uncles" who helped support Amroth. I remember what that particular Sindarin curse means and half expected somebody to start throwing punches! The aura thing is nifty. I've always been fascinated by that kind of stuff. I wonder if the Elves could teach some of the mortal doctors to do the same, if they have the ...whatever it is... that some people claim lets them see auras. It could certainly come in handy. But at least the twins will get to learn it, and from Elrond, too. Just like old times! Oh my, what did Aranfinwë do to get in the doghouse? Even if it's not a story likely to be told, it's funny just imagining it. So Elrond and Celebrian are moving into Wiseman for sure! Maybe Elrond can take some of the pressure off of Ron. Exciting times. Not going to lie, I'm planning to put on a hoodie and fuzzy socks, burrow in a blanket, and do my best impression of a sloth for the next two days. Stay warm! -Kevana
Author's reply
Hi Kevana. I'm sure Ron would like to have thrown a punch or two at Amroth right about then, but he allowed his professionalism to take over, which is just as well. I'm glad you like the idea of aurae. I think it's a nifty concept as well. I'm not sure what Arafinwë that got him sent to the doghouse, but if I ever find out, maybe it will show up in a story somewhere. *grin* Stay warm and thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
KathyG · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
Whoa! I sure hope that Elrond has the patience and stamina needed to get certified. Four years of college and 3 years of medical school, followed by 3 more years doing an internship and residency. It's going to take him a full decade to become a certified doctor, even though he's already a master healer.
Author's reply
Hi KathyG. Well, don't forget, he's an Elf. Ten years for him is nothing, but I doubt it will take him that long. I'm sure they'll fudge certain matters just as they've done with the other healers who will be leaving shortly for Anchorage to take the medical boards and become certified. We'll see in Elf Academy 4 what Elrond decides he wants to do now that he's back in Middle-earth. Thanks for reading and reviewing. It's appreciated.
Sunny · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
Oh dear - it seems like Elven mles are just like Mortal males when it comes to asking for help, or directions. A man will drive around for hours becaue he will not admit that he is lost, while a woman will have few qualms about asking for directions. So at least Amroth has been convinced to accept help, and I guess Elrond telling how he managed his situation (which he managed with help from friends). And I guess one outcome of the energy transfusions is that those who contribute energy are going to consider themselves the triplets' "uncles" - and I guess that means the little ones will end up with lots of uncles and aunts. ;-)
Author's reply
Hi Sunny. The male of the species, whatever the species, is often clueless about such things. *grin* At least they were able to convince Amroth to accept the help that was being offered him and that's all that matters right now. And yes, I suspect the triplets will have tons of uncles and aunties. Lucky elflings. Thanks for commenting. I appreciate it.
rikki · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
It sounds like Elrond, Dar and Cani are starting to think about their future in Middle-Earth. Dar might have a problem finding unfrozen water in Alaska, but I would think that the general sailor abilities of navigation and exploring would come in handy for jobs like working at one of the resorts as someone who took tourists on snow mobile trips or camping. Cani's ability with copper smithing would still come in handy as a metal worker because there are still a lot of smiths around for artistic sake or for fixing things that have broken or worn out. Elrond's healing ability is a given, he will become board certified. It was interesting to find out what he did learn when he arrived in Aman and served as an apprentice. Reading aurae could come in handy as you showed with Amroth. Poor Amroth. I am sure that his lacking energy is making him short tempered with everyone. He is probably wearing out Nimrodel even though he doesn't mean to. The discussion about aurae was very interesting. Some Mortals would consider it New Age though there have been many who have used the gift to help heal others. That some of the elves can read the aurae of others and share energy with each other is certainly a great boon. Hopefully that will help until the triplets get here. I would think afterwards, the ellyn could help in keeping up the energy of the babies. This week has flown by in a hurry for me. Have a great weekend and I will be here on Monday for the next chapter.
Author's reply
Hi rikki. Your ideas about what Dar and Cani can do with their particular backgrounds certainly have merit and I'll have to keep them in mind for the future. I'm sure the sharing of energy will help tremendously. Amroth has a heavy burden right now and he needs all the help he can get. Have a great weekend yourself. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
Dreamflower · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
This was a really interesting chapter. You have a knack for making these conversations seem so natural, even though they are necessary to advance the plot. The conversations around the campfire ranged over many topics, but hit on some essential things, especially Elrond's decision to become board certified, and his feelings about his son's decision to move back to the East coast. I really enjoyed the discussion with Amroth about his need for support, and the easy way you segued into that with the general talk of auras (my husband is certified in Healing Touch, so I am somewhat familiar with some of what they mean) and the way Amroth's colors signified his need. What he's going through with three babies is unprecedented, but Elrond's experience helped him understand better that he needs to accept the help, not only for his own sake but for Nimrodel's and the children. Looking forward to more!
Author's reply
Hi Dreamflower. I'm glad you found the various conversations to sound natural. It's not as easy as it looks. And I'm glad you enjoyed the discussion with Amroth, especially the aurae. I'm sure everyone is happy that Amroth agreed to let them help him. And as Elrond knowd from experience what he's going through, he has a sympathetic shoulder to lean on. Thanks for leaving a review. It's much appreciated.

someone · 23 January 2015 · Chapter 112: Confrontations
Well, now Roy and Sarah are married. I was quite surprised that everything went so well! I half expected something of the same sort as in Finrod and Amarië's wedding. What did they eat that Ingwë didn't like... I wonder what he thought of the hamburgers served in this chapter? And, now that I still remember it (it has been bothering me for a while), just why Celebrían and Elrond don't want to stay with her grandparents in the palace, when they are visiting Tirion? It would be cheaper than having a small house of their own, too. Olwë the couch potato! It's impossible to not like the idea, he can finally see what is within his beloved oceans. And maybe someone could send him diving equipment, later. (How deep can an Elf dive without oxygen bottles?) I like how Glorfindel tried to force Amroth to accept help and failed, and after that they took a longer route that ended with Amroth practically cornered and having no good way out of it. *grin*
Author's reply
Hi someone. I suspect Ingwë simply didn't care for the way the chicken was cooked or something. The wedding meal was certainly not very fancy in comparison with what would be served at the high table during any feast. As for Elrond and Celebrían not wishing to live in the palace, I suspect they just preferred their own place where they would have more privacy. Sometimes taking the long-way round a problem works better than going straight at it. Elrond was pretty sneaky and Glorfindel wasn't far behind. At least it worked and that is all that mattered. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.
Larner · 20 January 2015 · Chapter 111: Realizations
Love the reference to Constantine there. Heh! I do hope they get to the bottom of the dreams, and I do wish the Valinor Elves would more generally be happy that there are children being born here in Endore. Glorfindel and Finrod are a wonderful pair of brothers of the heart. And seeing their kings helping prepare dinner was a good experience for their servants!
Author's reply
Hi Larner. I thought it was a fun reference. Glorfindel's dreams will be addressed more fully in Elf Academy 4, which picks up directly after Elf Academy 3 ends, but we have quite a few more chapters to go before we get there. Glorfindel and Finrod are true brothers of the heart. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.
Dreamflower · 19 January 2015 · Chapter 111: Realizations
Now everyone is relaxing with rather mundane activities. I like seeing them cooking and planning the picnic while others find restful things to occupy themselves with. My favorite bit was Olwe's fascination with television (though it's good that he found a documentary on oceans, and not something like the WWE or Real Housewives or The Bachelor). But there are some worrisome things. Tthe visiting Elves' attitude is disturbing but not surprising; Valinor is a very hierarchical society. After ages of nothing happening, any differences to the status quo may seem not only offensive, but even threatening. Getting them to lighten up won't be easy. Then there's the matter of Amroth's health. I do hope Elrond can help! Still, what's most worrisome is Glorfindel--and I can see why his friends were so upset when he stormed out. After all look what happened last time! OTOH, I was glad when Finrod and Ron found him so quickly. And the big glowing sign was a hoot. Has Fionwe been watching Looney Tunes? (BTW, I got the audio-book of the Silm for Christmas and have been listening in the car. At home I have been reading your "Wars of the Valar". Today I had just gotten to the part of your story with the destruction of the Lamps; when I got in the car to go to the store, the reader was right at that point also!)
Author's reply
Hi Dreamflower. Wow! That's quite something to be reading my "Wars of the Valar" and having it coincide with where you are in the Silmarillion. Of course, most of that story is completely made up, taking place, as it were, between the space between two sentences in the published text. Anyway, I hope you are enjoying both reads. We'll see how Elrond and the others deal with Amroth and his health issues in the next chapter. And Glorfindel definitely has issues which will be addressed in Elf Academy 4. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. It's very much appreciated.
ReaderKit · 19 January 2015 · Chapter 111: Realizations
Hehe, the image of all those prim and proper Valinor Elves at a cookout is funny. I am both amused and sympathetic to Olwe wanting to watch television - he sounds like a teenager! Although I bet he would love to scuba dive. Hmm, apathy in Valinor is not good preparation for the Armageddon. Having just finished Elf Interrupted, the thought that all the effort put into making a cohesive and all-inclusive government going to waste is sad. At least there doesn't seem to be much in-fighting anymore, which is good. I almost can't believe that the servants are more stuck-up than the royals. Just...huh? Poor Glorfi - he just has too much to deal with, doesn't he? Bwahaha! The Maiar have to find some way to amuse themselves, I suppose. Good chapter, thanks!
Author's reply
Hi ReaderKit. Elves at a cookout does seem funny. Never really thought about it. It's been my experience that the "help" can be more strict about propriety than the "masters". It's how they know that all is right with the world and themselves. Glorfi does have a lot to deal with and it will show when we get into Elf Academy 4. And the Maiar do know how to amuse themselves, for sure. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.
Lindelea · 19 January 2015 · Chapter 111: Realizations
(to a famous old tune) How ya gonna keep 'em down in Aman, After they've seen tee-vee! Lovely to see the three kings helping in the kitchen, and the servants on holiday. Still quite a bit of attitude adjustment needed, it seems. Disapproving? Of a pregnancy? (Especially the way we've seen certain Elves regard children.) Things are worse than I thought. Glorfindel's dreams are disquieting. His "somebody dying" may have an unintended double meaning. Let's hope not. Sounds like some Maiar are having lots of fun... getting an early start on their time off, perhaps? (Surfing the stars was a fascinating concept, BTW.)
Author's reply
Hi Lindelea. Well, I figured if you're a spiritual being not limited by physicality then surfing the stars would be a fun thing to do. *grin* I'm glad you find the concept fascinating. The servants, of course, won't have much if anything to do with Mortals so it doesn't really matter what their attitude is. At least they can go home and tell all their friends about meeting them and everything. The disapproval of the pregnancy is from the younger generations as Ingwë points out, those who have given up on life and hope. And hopefully Glorfindel's "somebody dying" does indeed not have a double meaning. We'll have to see. Thanks for leaving a review. It's much appreciated.
Soledad · 19 January 2015 · Chapter 111: Realizations
Oh, I loved Olwë and his newly developed TV addiction! They'll have a hard time to drag him back to Aman, now that he's actually having fun. If Amroth doesn't listen to the healers, perhaps they should employ Alex to play the guilt card. I'm sure he is very good at it. Elrond certainly will be able to make a few useful suggestions, too. I hope they won't have to flee to Fairbanks, after all they had invested into the Wiseman operation, but a backup plan is always handy. Poor Glorfi, though. I can't blame him for being fed up to the eyeballs with all those surprises. Especially as he hates them on principle. And the Brightman boys going to college? Is made of the win. I can't wait to see what Mortal names they will choose.
Author's reply
Hi Soledad. We'll see how the healers handle Amroth. He can be as stubborn as the next Elf. Having a backup plan is always a good thing and Glorfi is having a tough time keeping it all together. We'll see how well he handles things from here on out, especially when we get into Elf Academy 4. As for the Brightman boys, I suspect hey'll just use "Dar" and "Cani". Kids are given the oddest names these days so I doubt anyone will bat an eye. *grin* Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it.
Kevana · 19 January 2015 · Chapter 111: Realizations
It warms my heart to see Olwë being glued to the screen watching National Geographic. I have a huge soft spot for your Olwë in particular and Lindar in general. He should totally get after Aulë to set up inter-dimensional satellite reception, under the guise of it being good preparation for the war and working with mortals...and sneak in some PBS or Spongebob Squarepants on the side. I am so not cool with the visitors hating on Nimrodel and Amroth for having kids. Shame on them! Are Glorfindel's dreams a result of what he went through, as the timing would suggest, or are they also foreshadowing of things to come? Recurring nightmares are the worst. But they can also be useful, I think, once you figure out what they mean. I'm glad we'll get to see a bit more on this in EA4, along with a look at what's going on in Aman. Rebecca, I'm also curious about the haryon issue. It really is sad to see that they don't even hold tournaments any more, considering how important that seemed to their society. The Maiar have now invented a Batsignal for Ron. The Ronsignal. I can't...that is just... ahaha. Hmm, can trees lie? The way you write the trees as "aware" entities is one of my favorite things. So the Elves have continued with their backup plan of moving to Fairbanks, probably wise. I could imagine they might need a second base of operations eventually, anyway. A lot of things packed into this chapter, and much to come I'm sure! Thanks for the update, and hope you have a great week. Wicked was fantastic, and it nearly feels like spring this morning - visions of tomato seedlings are dancing through my head. Take care, -Kevana
Author's reply
Hi Kevana. Olwë is a fun character to write. I can see him watching PBS shows like NOVA, but I doubt he would go for Spongebob Squarepants. As for the haryon issue, I suspect that's why Finrod leaped at the chance to return to Middle-earth where he used to be king in his own right. Not sure how Ingwion or Lindarion feel about it. That's the trouble with the whole immortality thing: there's no incentive for innovation or new blood taking over. As for Glorfindel's dreams, we'll see what they are all about in EA4 and what their significance is. I don't think trees can lie, but they have their own concerns and may not be as forthcoming with information as us two-footers might like. *grin* I couldn't resist the "Ronsignal". It was just too fun not to put it in and just shows that the Maiar are having way too much fun at the expense of the incarnates. The next chapter will highlight Amroth and their concern for his health and then we will get into the election. Thanks for leaving a comment. It's very much appreciated.
