Fiondil · 24 May 2014 · Chapter 5: insight

About time Elrohir got angry enough to get Elladan to stop thinking only about himself. I think Elladan was more shocked by his brother's reaction than he was by the knowledge that their father was fading. That's often the case, I guess. Well, it will be interesting to see how things go from here. I hope Elrohir doesn't fall back into being the submissive brother but takes charge of things because Elladan certainly shouldn't right now. He's been too selfish and self-involved.

Author's reply

both brothers have to re-think their attitude if they want to make progress and Elrohir is certainly on a good way even if it is high time. You are right, Elrohir will be in charge this time but has he still enough strenght left to save his father from dying? Thanks for your review, Fiondil; its appreciated, as always. I´m following your story but my time is very limited and you write faster than I can read. I feel bad for not leaving a review but when things have calmed down I will. The stoy is as good as all the others and with more and more elves gathering around the academy I wish more than ever to be there. LOL. Lai

I am often glad that this site lets us review a chapter more than once. After posting that first one, I went back to read the reviews of the other chapters. Your reply to Fiondil's review of the last chapter has me adding the adjective "intriguing" to my list. The comment that Elrond will have to leave all of the way before he can come back leads me to guess that your hinted at "outside power" may be some of Fiondil's favorite Valar. I will most definitely continue to "tune in"!

Author's reply

I´m so glad you take the time and drop another review. The peredhil family is already gone too far to mend on their own, even if the twins are now returning home. Your guess is not far from the mark but I hope to have still some suprises in store for you. Thank you for a really appreciated review, demeter d. Lai

demeter d · 23 May 2014 · Chapter 5: insight

My oh my! Dark, intense, and absolutely gripping! You pull us instantly into Elrohir's tortured mind, then THROW us into Elladan! But now, at least, it looks like he can finally see what he has been doing to those he cares about. Why do I think, though, that things will have to become darker still before the light breaks through? You are indeed a Mistress of Suspense!

Author's reply

Elladan´s insight comes too late and you guess right it will become darker still. The twins will be devastated in seeing their father´s state. Thank you for the praise. I like the title `Mistress od Suspense`. With the next chapter I will try to reach a new level of sorrow, so hold on. LOL! THank you so much for reviewing, demeter d. Lai

lmamc · 23 May 2014 · Chapter 5: insight

ANOTHER CHAPTER IS OUT!! Finally, Elladan has seen the light, or I should say, the fading light of his father. I hope they make it in time, update soon.

Author's reply

I´m sorry for the delay, but SOA was not kind to my new chapter, but now it worked. I fear you are right and Elladan has only seen a fading light. They will make it to Imladris but it will be too late. Some lines you should heed not to cross. Thank you so much for a most appreciated review. Lai

lmamc · 13 May 2014 · Chapter 4: downfall

Poor Elrond. his sons shoud know better, he is hurting too. Update soon

Author's reply

yes, they should know better, but who will tell them? They have to realize on their own. Thank you so much for your review. Its really appreciated. Update is nearly done. Lai

Fiondil · 3 May 2014 · Chapter 4: downfall

Very sad. And the Twins are going to feel all kinds of guilt when they find out (at least I hope so). I think Demeter d's analysis of Elrond and how he could be "kind as summer" (I always loved that phrase) is probably very true. Sometimes only through suffering great anguish and tragedy do people learn compassion for others.

Author's reply

they will feel sorry, but too late this time. Elrond will have to give up comletely to be able to return. Curious? Then I´m glad to see you at my next updates. LOL. Thanks for reviewing, Fiondil. You know how much I appreciate it. Lai

Semmley · 2 May 2014 · Chapter 4: downfall

Only children have the power and the will to wound a parent in this way. Ignoring his pain, the twins have punished Elrond for years for the loss of their mother. Elladan's actions are unconscionable and only a miraculous intervention is going to save Elrond and re-unite his family. It's a riveting story Lai, and I'm looking forward to your next update.

Author's reply

thank you so much. I´m happy that you are taken with my story. You are right; only children can do so much pain with the chance of forgiving afterwards. Elrond will be no exeption albeit with a be guiding from outside, I fear. Thank you so much for a most appreciated reiew, Semmley. Lai

demeter d · 2 May 2014 · Chapter 4: downfall

About a hundred twenty years or so from the time of this story, Elrond will be described by the omniscient narrator of "The Hobbit" as being venerable, wise, and "as kind as summer". In order to get from his spirit slowly slipping away from his body in grief, to that point, something drastic will have to happen. I think that I agree. It will have to be some outside force. I think that not even Glorfindel will be able to reach the boys right now. It will be interesting to see how that happens!

Author's reply

you are right something drastic will have to happen and it will. Glorfindel and even the twins have no longer the power. I so like the description of Elrond being "as kind as summer". All is said with this statement. There is much work ahead to bring him to this point. Thank you for reviewing, demeter d. I really appreciate it. Lai

Larner · 1 May 2014 · Chapter 4: downfall

All certainly have reason to be concerned. Now, to find the twins and get them home on the double!

Author's reply

first to find them and hopefully they are willing to come home. They have their own problems right now. Thanks for your review, Larner. Lai

eliza · 1 May 2014 · Chapter 4: downfall

Poor Elrond, I think I feel sorry for the twins now. I for one would not want to be in their shoes when Glorindel catches up to them... Can't wait for the next chapter.

Author's reply

they have made the right decision not being at home right now. Glorfindel is not really amused, yet he will sorely need them. Thank you so much for reviewing, eliza. Lai

Larner · 26 April 2014 · Chapter 3: picking up the pieces

Definitely a reason for them all to feel grief. Elladan needs to leave the anger behind.

Author's reply

he has to see reason first, otherwise true healing will not come. Thanks for an apprciated review, Larner. Lai

Larner · 26 April 2014 · Chapter 2: darkness, nothing but darkness

Terrible to see these two they love descending into the deeps as they are.

Author's reply

to see it and being unable to help. We all know these feelings, I guess. Thank you for reviewing, Larner. Lai

demeter d · 22 April 2014 · Chapter 3: picking up the pieces

Elrond's house was a refuge for all who fought the dark. I am sure that there must have been many times when he put on the mask of the perfect host, to be strong for those who came to him for counsel. I agree, though, it would not do for him to lose himself and have nothing left but the mask! And now, the lads run off yet again without confronting the real issues they face. Now what?

Author's reply

now what, right! Who can help now? The important thing is now to not let Elrond lose himself. Not an easy task, as Glorfindel will find out. Thanks for reviewing, demeter. I really appreciate it! Lai

demeter d · 22 April 2014 · Chapter 2: darkness, nothing but darkness

OH, MY GOODNESS! That was indeed upsetting! And even if the orcs were immortal like the Elves from which the first ones were made, THAT was not the act of a sane person! "So, you finally "got" the very one who hurt your mother. That means the obsessive orc-hunting is now done, right? (Hmm, no, I thought not!)I agree that the Twins were much like sons for Glorfindel. He would have no trouble with correcting them if he felt they needed it. Now, to see how you write them out of THIS mess!

Author's reply

I will get help to get the boys out of this mess but from a side neither Glorfindel nor Elrond will expect and a few hard words need to be spoken. This I can already promise. Thank you so much for your review, demeter d. Lai

Fiondil · 22 April 2014 · Chapter 3: picking up the pieces

What a sad chapter. I feel sorry for Elrohir, torn between brother and father. That's a terrible position to be placed in and Elladan is being selfish and uncaring of anything or anyone but himself. He really needs a reality check. I hope Glorfindel is the one to give it to him... again and in spades.

Author's reply

Elladan will get his reality check, Fiondil but from a direction he would never expect. Elrohir is really not to envy and this time he will pack back his brother, I promise. Thank you so much for a most appreciated review. Lai

eliza · 21 April 2014 · Chapter 3: picking up the pieces

***sighs**** Poor Elladan. some times it's hard to see what you do to those you love when you are in so much pain. Excellent Chapter Lai, Very interesting to see all the characters emotions intertwining, even Erestor. hummm, Elrohir is in a very difficult position. How to save someone you love, who is bent on destroying their lives? Thanks for a wonderful chapter.

Author's reply

you are welcome. Thank you so much for a wonderful review, Eliza. The twins are not to envy just now. Elladan can not see beyond his grief and Elrohir does not want to go on like this. I´m glad the emotions came around believble. Lai

ellie · 14 April 2014 · Chapter 2: darkness, nothing but darkness

Oh my! That was brutal harsh behavior from everyone. Some deserved it and some did not. Will healing ever find this family?

Author's reply

Elrond did definitely not deserve such a behaviour. That´s the reasion why Glorfindel intervened. Healing will find this family, as we all know but it will be a long way as my story will tell. Thank you so much for a most appreciated review, Ellie. Lai

eliza · 14 April 2014 · Chapter 2: darkness, nothing but darkness

YES!! Way to go Glorifindel. As much as it pains me, because the twins are two of my favorite characters, some times the consequences for reckless actions has to be harsh. Absolutely loved this chapter. can't wait to see what happens next.

Author's reply

Glorfindel had all right to intervene and set Elladan in his place. The twins are my favourite characters too, but these were hard times for them all and I wanted to show it. I´m so glad you loved the chapter nonetheless and thank you for your review, eliza. Lai

Fiondil · 14 April 2014 · Chapter 2: darkness, nothing but darkness

Whoa! Did Elladan ever crossed the line and Glorfindel was right to be so angry and call him on it. What a terrible thing to do to their own father. There really is no excuse. Poor Elrond. No wonder he's decided to fade.

Author's reply

This did really go too far but Elladan will realize this too late, I fear. Elrond´s reaction is more than understandable. This family needs definitely help. Thank you so much for reviewing, Fiondil. You know how much I appreciate it, even if I´m a very negligent reviewer right now. Lai

eliza · 11 April 2014 · Chapter 1: sorrow, sorrow everywhere

Oh no, not an evil cliffie!!! Oy Vey,I have the patience of a knat, I'm the girl that cheats and reads the ending when the angst gets to great. Wowza, what a great beginning. Now to try and dream up what could have rattled Elrond. I enjoy the two different POV's.

Author's reply

Elrond has all reason to be stressed, this I can already promise. I´m glad you liked the different POV´s. It was a joy to write. The next update will come soon. Thank you so much for reviewing. Lai

demeter d · 10 April 2014 · Chapter 1: sorrow, sorrow everywhere

You have become a writer of surprise twists, turns of plot and fate that are quite unexpected. Elves can fade from grief, I wonder. But that would be a slow process. What, indeed, were the events of the previous evening? I will be anxiously "tuning in" to find out. You are looking here at the story from many characters points of view. This should be good!

Author's reply

my writing is unexpected? Then I have done something right. THank you so much. Indeed elves can die from grief. The events of the previous evening are not pleasant at all, this I can promise. Elrond is not shocked without reason. The different characted views make the story more interesting, or so I hope. Hopefully you are "turning in" for the next chapter. Update soon - promise. Lai

Lindelea · 10 April 2014 · Chapter 1: sorrow, sorrow everywhere

Poor Elrond, and the poor children of Elrond. You know, Tolkien described him as being "kind as summer". I wonder if some of that kindness resulted from the sorrows he lived through.

Author's reply

I never considered this but maybe you are right. Thank you so much for your lovely review, Lindelea. I really appreciat it. Lai

Fiondil · 10 April 2014 · Chapter 1: sorrow, sorrow everywhere

Oh, how angsty. Poor Elrond, but poor Glorfindel even more. Can't wait to see where you from here, Lai.

Author's reply

angsty? Then I have done something right, but I promise I have just started. LOL! Thank you so much for an appreciated review, Fiondil. Lai

Larner · 10 April 2014 · Chapter 1: sorrow, sorrow everywhere

It had to be difficult for everyone in the valley, but particularly for those who were so close to Celebrian. It is time to let the healing begin.

Author's reply

yes, Elrond is in dire need of a respite and true healing but I fear until his sons see reason there will no healing be found.Thank you for your review, Larner. Lai

Ellie · 9 April 2014 · Chapter 1: sorrow, sorrow everywhere

What sad memories! This does not bode well...

Author's reply

you are right, that glimpse in Elrond´s desolate soul does indeed not bode well. And it has only started. Thank you so much for reviewing, Ellie. Lai
