For Arwen, there are still aspects of her newly acquired mortality that she must learn from first-hand experience. But her husband is good at helping her find the beauties of this new look at reality.

· Chapter 5: By My Loss
Arwen took his hand and looked into his eyes. Her gaze was filled with love. Even after all these years, it still made his heart soar. Truly, they were destined for one another, maybe since the first notes of the Great Music of Creation sounded.
Again, a perfect ending to a thought-provoking chapter.

How wise Aragorn is, as Arwen observes here. He is even wise enough to know the limits to his wisdom.
“Let us bring the children here this afternoon,” said Arwen. “We shall have a contest to see who can catch the most leaves.” She laughed merrily, her melancholy blown away like the leaves upon the autumn breeze.
A nice note to finish the chapter.

· Chapter 2: Dew Drops
I love Faramir's sense of wonder, expressed in his enjoyment of a sun-sparkling, dew-glistening spiderweb.
Regarding this:
Then there was that monstrous spider we slew that stung you in Lossarnach.”
Is this in one of your stories, by chance?

· Chapter 1: Treasure Trove
Ah, I'm with Faramir.
"You can touch them if you wish. I know you will be careful."
I know just how he felt -- I felt much the same way when an exhibition came through our local library with original pages from the Gutenberg Bible. Of course, they were under glass, untouchable. But just to see them. Whew.
"a feast of stories" -- lovely turn of phrase, and so true.

I liked this chapter? but it seemed a little short to me. It felt like it kind of came to a sudden end rather than showing the children's responses to the Bilbo evening....Still, always good to see you working on this. Thanks for your hard work on it.
Author's reply
Thank you. It was written for a prompt during a challenge where I was somewhat pushed for time. There will be another chapter.

Indeed the Music included this joy for Mankind while including the grief for Elvendom. Yet there can be no greater delight than to see the Music fulfilled as it has been. Indeed Elrond will find the more joy for having known losses such as he has endured in his long life.
I rejoice that you were inspired to add this chapter!

Always good to see you working on this. The chapter is very evocative and I think about right for where Aragorn would likely be for much of his life on this issue. Resolution is never quite as clean as authors of all kinds wish to make it in their stories. Thanks for your hard work on this, I will greet further installments with pleasure.

Suilaid, Linda. Long time fan of your writings. This has got to be the most heart touching (is there such a saying lol) piece that I have read. Good job. Would love it though if you would name those Imladris elves still around. :)

Thank you, I'm delighted you enjoyed this so much. I fear I've not thought much about which Elves are still there, though I mention some in the story.

· Chapter 4: When Winter Comes
Interesting chapter though I believe your thought on Eowyn's relatively limited lifespan may be partially incorrect as Morwen (Eowyn's grandmother I believe?) is supposedly of high numenorian stock . Still, the general culture shock issues would definitely be right on and I thank you for your hard work on this.
Author's reply
Thank you. I think Eowyn should have a long life, but not as long as Faramir's or Aragorn's who had more Numenorean ancestors. It was interesting thinking about how Rivendell might effect Eowyn.

That first review was long enough, but I had one more observation. That is a very authentic picture of Faramir. He may have been considered by some to be a dreamer, but he was also a respected, capable military leader, and an able administrator who not only ruled his city and land in the troubled days cleaning up after the war, but became the Prince who rebuilt his own domain to its former glory. He had a love and appreciation for beauty. But he also had the practical ability to manage this world. Well done!

· Chapter 3: Falling Leaves
The autumn forest pictures on the link do very much make me think of Rivendell. "...your people live in spring or high summer..." Perhaps in the Undying Lands, or in Rivendell or Lothlorien at their primes. But by the time we first see Rivendell in "The Hobbit", it has already begun to feel like Autumn. I think the saying, "you can't go home again", refers to the fact that the people at home will be growing and changing, just as you do. Home will still be home, but it will have evolved. I think that for Arwen, as long as her brothers and grandfather were still there, some of home will still be there too.
It would be nice to think that her children could have seen at least some of what the valley had once been. I think I may have some sense of what it might have been like for Arwen. My Father's Mother was the last of my Grandparents to leave this world. If she had lived another month, I think she would have turned ninety five. The day of her funeral, my Aunt, her only daughter, told all of the family to stop by Grandma's house after the cemetery. She and my Dad and their brother, my Uncle, handed out many of Grandma's small possessions to the Grand and Great-Grandchildren. While most of the big furniture was still in place, and the house was full of cousins, it still felt EMPTY. There was something very palpable, missing. I had no doubt that day that she had no unfinished business to keep her there, she was indeed, "beyond this world".
Author's reply
Thank you for your much appreciated review and for sharing these memories. I think Autumn came to Rivendell when Celebrian left.

Indeed, I could see these two now less active Rangers taking an opportunity to greet the beauty of the early morning. I enjoyed Faramir's comment about how spiders were likely intended to be in our Creator's original Music. The Arda we live in is indeed Marred. Even so, there are the beauties you describe, for sensitive souls like Faramir who will look for them.
Author's reply
Thank you so much. I think we have to seek out beauty in this imperfect world.
