Hi Nieriel Raina! I have come across and read your wonderful story. I really hope you get this review and finish your story. I enjoy your work very much and would love one to see you write again. Galathil .

I have thoroughly enjoyed your story, and it reinforces my ideas about the relationships between the members of Elrond's Family, including Estel, and his mother, Gilraen. As you have so carefully set the stage, I believe that all involved will see some healing through this process, especially Gilraen, who is, and will be, still recovering from her loss of Arathorn. I realize that you must be busy with your life, but PLEASE continue to enthrall me with the next chapter. I have recently added a story (my first one) to Valar Guild, and someday I hope to publish on Stories of Arda as well. Mal sehen! Thank you again.

It's official, lol I Love your Erestor. Wonderful chapter NR, all the characters come to life. I wish you luck with Gilraen, she doesn't seem to be in a very forgiving mood.

curiouswombat · 30 June 2016 · Chapter 7: Seven

Lovely to see another chapter. I really like Erestor here, too, and I think he is right - Gilraen will not stand a chance when faced with his clear thinking and clear speaking !

Larner · 30 June 2016 · Chapter 7: Seven

They all need a good dose of reality check, of course. I rejoice that Erestor is ready to offer this service!

I was so delighted to see another chapter pop up this evening! I enjoy this story a great deal. I absolutely love your characterization of Erestor: you make him an interesting character in his own right, while also making great use of his status and perspective to deepen our understanding of other character and move the plot along. He would make a good therapist, I think - and I can't think of another fictional family more in need of some therapy. Thanks for sharing your writing! Best wishes to you.

I was really pleased to discover a new chapter - a real May Day treat! And I can see that the twins and Erestor are looking at the problems from the right angles, so hopefully their sense will prevail. I also can see this being good for the twins, too.

quodamat · 1 May 2016 · Chapter 6: Six

I was delighted to see an update to this story, and it definitely did not disappoint. I think this is the most I've ever like Erestor in a story. Thanks for another lovely chapter!

Larner · 30 April 2016 · Chapter 6: Six

Ah, this is indeed an excellent plan. We had to do similarly with a child that had been knocked down by a large puppy and who'd developed a phobia toward dogs--we introduced him to smaller dogs who were loving and caring, and finally to a guide dog who made over him when out of harness. The boy recovered from his phobia, and all who knew him were overjoyed! Now--to tackle both Elrond and Gilraen.

Larner · 6 November 2015 · Chapter 5: Five

At least one of the three blaming themselves is now back on track to reality, and I rejoice that at least one of the pups survived. Poor little things! (The one who grew up surrounded by dogs and my mother's kennel wants to save them all!) And I see you share one of my own homonym bugaboos--the Sun peeked over the mountain's peak, piquing the curiosity of the cat. Heh! I'm always doing peak for peek.

Hey, thanks for catching that! and thanks for reading! :)

Gilraen has still much to learn in living with elves. Her acting is infantile and embarassing. She´s the wife of a chieftain and the mother of a future king. I had expected more of her. I´m sure Arathorn had not approved of her accusations. I can understand her worry but this was an accident and if her son had heeded Glorfindel´s warning nothing had happened. I do so love your stories and writing. So much depth at showing emotions. I´m eager to read on and see how poor Estel will be healed. Erestor is the only one with a clear head right now. Thanks for continuing this wonderful story. Lai

Well done Nieriel, guilt is such a hard emotion to rid oneself of. I could easily tell that Glorindal and Erestor were good friends. some times good friends are the only ones with the courage to tell you what you need to hear. Can't wait to read your other story. thanks for the great chapter.

Well played, Erestor, well played. One down, two to go! I was a bit ridiculously excited when the twins found the puppy. I felt awful for the babies when their mum was killed (and, honestly, felt sorry for the mum as well, since her attack clearly wasn't malicious), so it was nice to see one survive. Perhaps a puppy would be a good way to help Estel avoid a fear of dogs... Thanks for another great chapter!

I'm really enjoying this story! There's so much psychological depth and realism to this chapter. As I was reading I wanted to shake all the characters and say, "It was just an accident!!" ... but I know full well that if I were involved in any way with something like that, I would be blaming myself too. It was quite a relief to see Erestor on the case. Elrond is lucky to have such a shrewd and compassionate friend pulling strings behind the scenes. Thanks for sharing your work. I look forward to reading more!

Author's reply

Thank you! I've wanted to shake all these characters while writing this story! LOL! Except Erestor. He never really needs shaking. :) Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to let me know what you think! It's greatly appreciated! NiRi

Hooray, Erestor to the rescue!! Whew, very emotional chapter Nieriel. Everybody on the page is hurting. Can't wait to see what happens next. I can't help but feel that we're sitting on a powder keg waiting for a spark to ignite it. really enjoying the story.

Author's reply

Don't you just love Erestor? I do. :) Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to leave a review. It's greatly appreciated. The next chapter has been posted. NiRi

Larner · 1 November 2015 · Chapter 4: Four

At least one person is able to look beyond personal feelings of guilt and fear to see that this WAS an accident and that the others all need to lay aside the guilt and the fear to deal with what is needed now. So glad you are able to continue onwards!

Author's reply

And do you expect anything less from Erestor?? ;) Thanks for reading and commenting, Larner! NiRi

Life will happen, no matter how we hope to control situations and seek to keep those we love safe. All did as best each could to protect this child, but all need to accept and do the best they can now, as they could not control everything. We grieve for the child's pain, but know that he will grow up strong and capable, and will in his turn do all he can to help others he could not protect anymore than these could have kept him from all pain or injury.

Please continue this story! Its heartwrenching but so well written. It holds such strong love between the grown ups and little Estel!❤️How everyone takes so well care of him and his mother. Dont let this story end here.

Author's reply

I won't abandon this story. No worries. Life has just been hindering my writing and editing! But I'm glad you are enjoying it. :) Thanks for reading. New chapter posted.

spinster · 16 May 2015 · Chapter 2: Two

This is a great story. I really like they way you made the reader feel some empathy for the wild dog by using her POV. Please write more chapters, I would hate to see this as another abandoned story. Thanks for a good read!

Author's reply

Thank you for the input! It might take me a while, but I never abandon posted works. This will be finished. :)

Larner · 1 May 2015 · Chapter 2: Two

Ah, but I remember fully. Poor dog! And as one who has been involved in breeding dogs much of my life I understand the term here is technical.

Thank you!

Larner · 1 May 2015 · Chapter 1: One

A good edit. Now, I can't completely remember what happened to the child. Now to learn what it was.

Gripping chapter. Really well done, especially the description of the physical movements of both the horse and dog. It is hard to write detailed action correctly and concisely, keep it up

Thank you! I have a lot of inspiration here on the farm. :) Thank for reading!
