Very nice! :-) I like the idea of Glorfindel staying with Arwen (and Aragorn) until they take their leave (as it were). Very interesting take on the background of Glorfindel's choices... Thanks for writing!

What an interesting take on on Glorfindel's tie to Elrond's family. And i like that he has a wife, I have read about heris other of your stories, and I like her. Now it's time for me to re-read some more of your stories, although the last one seems to be missing. :(

What a delightful tale you have told. Fascinating take on the Vanyar tracing ethnic lineage through the female line and Glorfindel being kin of Idril. I have missed your stories. It is so wonderful to read one again. I hope that you can continue writing!

Author's reply

Hi Ellie! Aw, you are so happy to be back here. I really have missed this site. It's full of wonderful writers and great stories. :) Prof. Tolkien told us so little about the Vanyar that it's kind of fun to imagine they might be just that much different from the other kindreds. I'm glad it worked for you! Thank you again, Ellie. Your words mean a lot to me!

This was lovely. I liked the idea that Glorfindel would continue to serve Arwen.I'm also pleased he has a wife.

Author's reply

Hi Linda, Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed this story! Thank you. I'm always glad to think Arwen was not alone there at the end. That always seemed very harsh to me. Glorfindel was also pleased to have a wife! Thank you so much, Linda. I appreciate you letting me know! :)

What a beautiful story, Levade. What a pleasant surprise for Aragorn and Arwen, who thought they had seen the last of an old and dear friend. I love the idea that Glorfindel will be there at Arwen's side until the end. It surely would be a comfort to Aragorn. This was a great line and made me laugh out loud: Elves. There was no rushing them and they did love to banter. " Spoken by one who spent his life among them, for sure.

Meckinock! Hello! Wow, it's been a long time, hasn't it? My fault. Me and my wandering feet. I'm so happy you enjoyed this story! I just started daring to write Aragorn, and he intimidates me hugely. I admire those of you who write him well and (probably not, but it seems) so effortlessly. And yes, I have no doubts that Aragorn was all too familiar with Elves. ;) That idea alone, not just his journeys, but his relationships with so many different people, could fuel a writer forever. Hope you're doing great. Take care and thank you again!

What a wonderful, elegant story!

Author's reply

Hi Robnrun, Wow, thank you! It started as one thing, but ended up entirely as something else, so I'm relieved you enjoyed it. Thank you for letting me know!

Dreamflower · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1

I like this. I like the idea of Glorfindel staying in Gondor to watch over Arwen. What a splendid idea, and so different from most of the fanon, in which he mostly stays in Rivendell! Very nicely done!

Author's reply

Hi Dreamflower, Teitho had a contest with the theme of 'Bonds', and somehow this is what came of that. Not sure how really, as it started out to be a story of Arwen and Aragorn, but they sometimes tell you where to take a story, don't they? Thank you so much for letting me know you enjoyed the story! :)

How beautiful! I loved this. You did a wonderful job with the the interaction between Glorfindel and Aragorn, and I enjoyed how it moved from formal to less so and finally back to the teasing of those who have known each other always. It's such a touching idea too - to have Glorfindel's duty be to the daughters, to have this bond with Arwen that she also knows means a piece of Elrond is with her. And there's a comfort to the reader in knowing that Glorfindel will be with her at the end. A comfort to Aragorn too! I could almost feel his desperation that she accept once he realised what Glorfindel meant. On another note, you made me smile at his thoughts as he tried to let Glorfindel speak in his time. Elves. There was no rushing them and they did love to banter. I laughed at that. The voice of experience. Altogether a wonderful story and one that I know I'll come back to read again.

Author's reply

Hi Dot, Wow, thank you! I've always thought it must be difficult to be friends (or grow up around) elves because time just isn't the same for them as it is for mortals. But the possibilities of what they can experience is boggling. I've just started writing Aragorn (he intimidates me!), so I'm relieved you enjoyed this story! Thank you again and take care!

daw the minstrel · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1

Good lord. This actually made me teary eyed, and that's a rare thing for a story to do. But the thought of Glorfindel being there at the end for Arwen is touching and so appropriate. The sense of deep time in this is hard to take in. Glorfindel hasn't just lived a elven lifetime. He's lived two! Sort of. It's hard to sort out how to think about that. Great story, Levade.

Author's reply

Hi Daw, This was originally supposed to be a tale of Aragorn and Arwen. Glorfindel, as too often, butted in and ...well, here it is. I always hated the thought of Arwen being alone at her end, and I guess this is what came of that. Deep time. I like that phrase, it's very C.S. Lewis. It's one of the things I love most about Tolkien's world, how intricate and intwined it all is if you read from The Silmarillion on through. Kind of bogggling, really! Thank you, Daw. Your enjoying it means a lot to me.

Bodkin · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1

I love the idea of a matriarchy - and Glorfindel as Arwen's protector. That must be such a relief for Aragorn, even though he is a long way from contemplating his parting from Arwen with any real intensity. The whole immortality thing must make relationships difficult to sustain. Lovely tale.

Author's reply

Hi Bodkin, Heh...Glorfindel tells me sometimes about this grandmother of his and all I can imagine is how that family reunion must be when you get Idril and Galadriel and all of the others together. Boom! I think Elves having friendships with Men or other mortals is difficult but it must bring something to both sides. Thank you so much for your review and for reading my story!

Nilmandra · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1

Levade, this is absolutely lovely! I absolutely adore stories like this with my beloved Glorfindel and I just love the way you have taken his vow of protection through the line of the daughters. I love the way you have him serving Arwen now. I thought only to do it at the very end, but you have him serving her during her life. How grand! This is just wonderful. I'm so glad to see that your talent continues.

Author's reply

Aw, Nildmandra, I'd give you Elrond and Celebrian and Glorfindel and ALL of them if I could! Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed the story. That means more to me than words can say. Take care!

shirebound · 22 June 2015 · Chapter 1

"And there he stands." "Yes." She looked to Aragorn, and their gazes tangled, closing out all the rest of the world. This is a moving, beautiful story. Glorfindel is very special, and his devotion and love shine through all of his actions and words.

Author's reply

Hi Shirebound, Thank you! The story was actually meant to be about Aragorn and Arwen, Glorfindel kind of butted in. He does that a lot. Thank you for letting me know you enjoyed it. I really appreciate it!
