Raksha The Demon · 25 December 2015 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

Smiling from ear to ear at the Legolas/Faramir friendship and mutual regard for Aragorn. Faramir is well-written here; and I'd like to see you write more of him...And it's a cracking good yarn, too.

Author's reply

I'm glad you enjoyed it! :-) I had fun writing it ... Thanks so much for your comments, I appreciate them!

Raksha The Demon · 25 December 2015 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Enjoying the tension and danger here, and especially the portrayal of Faramir's strength and sheer grit.

Conquistadora · 19 December 2015 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

An interesting treatment of houseless spirits. Definitely gives me more to think about. Also, Arwen was a welcome surprise! Kudos. :)

Author's reply

Thank you! I very much enjoyed giving Arwen her moment. :-) Thanks so much for reading and your comments!

eliza · 17 December 2015 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

What a wonderful story, PSW. It's interesting that you thought of it as a horror story. I found it to be a "friendship" tale from beginning to end. I enjoyed your characterization of Faramir, especially when he isn't quite sure how he should feel about Legolas being injured. Should we feel "glad" when some tragedy befalls someone else and not us? but determined to feel gratitude that all is well. hummm, well I see you've got another story going so I won't bug you to write again soon ***snickers***. (just like us greedy fans, it's never enough). once again thank you for the charming tale.

Author's reply

Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. And that it didn't come off too horror-ish. :-) I did end up having a very good time with it. Thanks so much for reading, and all of your comments!

Larner · 16 December 2015 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

Ah, well done indeed, and it does appear the King is right about Hobbit habits perhaps being infectious. Now, aren't you glad you wrote it out? Heh!

Author's reply

Yep, I am. I can now check 'horror' off of my list ... :-P Thanks so much for reading!

shirebound · 16 December 2015 · Chapter 999: Epilogue

“The two of you have obviously spent far too much time with the hobbits.” Aragorn moved forward, holding the mug with the tea outstretched. Legolas blinked his eyes open and shared a swift, fatigued smile with Faramir. “I am not certain such a thing is possible.” You know how much I love that! I enjoyed this story very much. The deep friendship that must have developed between Faramir and Legolas isn't explored that much in fanfic, and you did a wonderful job here.

Author's reply

I thought you might. :-) Thanks so much for reading, I'm so glad you enjoyed this!

BM · 11 December 2015 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

I loved this! So close and nearly disaster within sight of home; I can just imagine what poor Legolas was thinking (in panic) as he felt the last vestiges of his control slip. And I'm very proud of Faramir, showing he's justly earned his rank amongst the heroes of Middle Earth - lasting for 3 days without sleep and still managing to have enough reflexes to survive the spirit's assault - I think only Aragorn himself might have done better! I loved this because its a very well written Faramir centric story, and I crave those as there really are few of them in place. The desperation of the characters and the slight touch of horror reminds me much of Thundera Tiger's Fey story, which is also something of a horror story but very, very well written and focused on Faramir. I look much forward to the epilogue--I want to see what Legolas has to say to Faramir (and just how long it took for Faramir to recover from this little "jaunt"......and if that arm is really just bruised or fractured.....lol)

Author's reply

I'm so happy you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for your comments, I very much appreciate them. :-) I have read 'Fey' as well ... you're definitely right, it was very good ...

eliza · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

FARAMIR is not the only one exhausted!! whew, I feel like I've been in a battle. Great chapter, very powerfully written. I enjoyed your picture of Arwen, Aragorn had it right, she immediately reminded me of her grandmother. and thank you for keeping your word and returning my elf back to his "houseless" free state. very much enjoyed this chapter.

Author's reply

You're quite welcome, more than pleased to oblige. ;-) Thanks so much for reading and for your comments, I'm happy you enjoyed!

someone · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

I did wonder earlier if Arwen would be at least as useful as Aragorn in this case! After all, she does come from a family of rather powerful people, and now she showed it. Faramir's reaction was realistic, under ordinary circumstances the queen would be the last person allowed near something dangerous. I enjoyed her show of power and Faramir's stunned reaction to it. (And also that Aragorn stayed wisely away until he got the athelas.)

Author's reply

I think that Aragorn would definitely trust Arwen to do her thing, which includes not blundering into the middle of it all until he had a reason to think he could help the situation ... ;-) Thanks so much for reading, I'm glad you enjoyed!

Larner · 7 December 2015 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Ah, to hear that battle of clear song and grieving, vengeful spirit would have been quite the experience indeed. Well done!

Author's reply

Not something that (hopefully) they will see again ... Thank you! And thanks for reading! :-)

shirebound · 6 December 2015 · Chapter 3: Chapter Three

Before he could loose himself, however, before Beregond’s first lunge slowed and before the spirit within Legolas could respond, Arwen Undómiel lifted her voice in song. Such beauty and power Faramir had never heard. It was as a tangible thing What a wonderful description. Goodness, Faramir must be exhausted. What an experience for all of them!

Author's reply

I know, right? What a long few days! But thankfully his persistence paid off ... Thanks for reading! :-)

Marianel · 5 December 2015 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Arrh such an evil cliffhanger ! But I guess a chapter needs to end somewhere! I admire your Faramirs stubborness, strong will and deep care of Legolas.May it be enough sweet Elbereth as the characters would say.😄 I can picture their flight before me, so wellwritten and mystic.

Author's reply

Thank you so much! I'm happy you're enjoying it, and thanks too for your comments! :-)

eliza · 30 November 2015 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

Wowza, Excellent, excellent chapter PSW Faramir clapped the Elf briefly on the shoulder before moving to turn away. “Let us not beg trouble before it forces itself upon us.” Legolas scowled at the contact, but Faramir shook his head. “Legolas. I do not fear you.” The blond brows drew together. This time it was Legolas who gripped his arm, the slender fingers digging into skin and muscle. “Faramir. You should.” LOL I don't know whether to cheer for Faramir or cry for Legolas!! so many emotions shining through, fear, hope, despair the two characters. Can't wait for next chapter mellon-nin

Larner · 30 November 2015 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

I agree that there would indeed be some physical manifestations of this struggle for mastery of the body, and I certainly hope Aragorn's power of healing will perhaps help both Legolas and the houseless spirit to each find its own proper way. At least Faramir is not allowing Legolas to merely give in to the invader, which is a good thing, I'd think.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

shirebound · 29 November 2015 · Chapter 2: Chapter Two

he believed in his King as he did in no other—and it seemed that Legolas felt the same. And so do we! Whew, they're balancing on a razor's edge, and no one there to greet them will know it. What a suspenseful story.

Author's reply

Thanks for reading, and for your comments! :-)

someone · 26 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

At first, this story started as adventures usually do, but it quickly changed into something I've never seen before. It is an interesting idea that Faramir virtually invited the elves to Ithilien. I've wondered how the elves and Gondorians were able to divide Ithilien, and this is a possible solution. It is also interesting to see a story with Faramir and Legolas as main characters, it's not something that you see often. A houseless elf/other creature inside Legolas? I really didn't see that coming! How are they going to get rid of it?

Author's reply

I'm so glad you're enjoying it! :-) Thanks so much for reading and your comments!

Raksha The Demon · 23 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Though I'm not convinced that Faramir in ROTK was as intimidated by the task of restoring the fertility of Ithilien as you have implied here, I am definitely intrigued by the story. Good tales of Legolas and Faramir, who must have had at the very least a friendly acquaintance, are hard to find. Post again soon, please.

Author's reply

Hello! I had to go read the beginning of this chapter again after looking at your review. My intention actually wasn't to indicate intimidation (I really have always felt like Faramir would be someone who *wouldn't* be easily intimidated), but that he was just a bit overwhelmed by the scope and all the ideas flying around in his head -- too much at once, given that he doesn't have a lot of background in this type of thing. But, I can see where it could definitely be read the way you say ... Thanks so much for your comments! I may have to try to fiddle w that para a little ... :-) I'm glad you're enjoying, thanks for reading!

BM · 22 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

well you can't just leave it there! My morbid curiosity is piqued, especially as I'm trying to figure out how you plan to get this thing out of Legolas while leaving him intact! (unless you intend this to be tragedy as well as horror...) :) I understand completely, though, your confusion on how this story came to you. I'm not a horror fan by any stretch, and yet several years ago, I found myself plotting out a horror story for the Magnificent 7 fandom. My roommate begged me to finish it, but that particular muse left me as quickly as it came--that, and I couldn't figure out how to kill the monster I had created (*grins*)

Author's reply

Ha! Not being able to get rid of it *does* create a problem, right? :-P No, never fear. :-) This is not a tragedy (I'm even less likely to write that than horror), and there is a plan for getting rid of it. Thanks for your comments!

Marianel · 22 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

this was exiting and terrifying! And its so good to see stories where Faramir appears. Hes one of my favouritecharacters😊A different twist with a wraith moving into Legolas. Yet he seems to be able to keep reasonably sane. You described so well the surroundings and the two men that I can see it all before my eyes. I actually thought of your story when I was out on one of my usual very long walks in a nearby forest. Indeed some places along that path is somewhat intimidating with old gnarled trees, old logs, some swamps and denseness. Its easy to spooke yourself there😂Luckily my hubby wa with me hahaha!I look forward to more!

Author's reply

Thanks for your comments! Yes, I like Faramir too, I think he's one of the most honorable characters in the story -- which of course it what Tolkien intended. I'm glad you like my descriptions -- and hopefully Legolas will be able to *stay* sane until they get this figured out ... :-P

daw the minstrel · 22 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

I'm usually not very caught by stories that take place after the Ring War because I miss the tension that comes from knowing where all the canonical characters are heading. But this was interesting. It's deeply canonical and it's about a time I know pretty much nothing about. It makes sense that Faramir and Legolas become allies and friends in Ithilien. You also explain why Legolas leaves Mirkwood, which is otherwise kind of puzzling.

Author's reply

Thank you! I did try hard to keep it within canon ... had several books and web sites up to check against ... :-P I agree that the whole move of Legolas to Ithilien was not necessarily intuitive, and Tolkien didn't give us much of an explanation (as in, none at all, really) -- but I can totally see the two of them sitting around hatching this plot over dinner one evening ... :-) Thanks for your comments!

Larner · 21 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Oh, I, too, have been attacked by one horror story in the midst of the night that had to be written out immediately. It took me until dawn, but I managed to do it in a one-chapter story, at least, and got it out of me. I still shudder when I read it again, which I don't do often. Do get it out of you--you will feel better for launching it on its way and clearing your mind for other stories you prefer to write! It does sound intriguing so far!

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing and for your comments! You're right -- probably best to just write it now than to have it sitting around half-finished nagging at me ... :-P

eliza · 21 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

Lol, never ask my opinion PSW, for I swear I channel elves in giving answers. Humm, Elves are also my favorite Tolkien characters, so "elf-owies" as I like to call them usually have me screaming "Nooooo" to my Ipad. I enjoy your stories and this one is starting off great, lol, can you at least reassure me that my elf will be alright at the end??? Great reading Faramirs POV

Author's reply

Thank you! I love Faramir, and given all the different 'versions' of him running around, it's interesting to write from his POV and see how he turns out for me. And, I'm so happy you enjoy my stories, I have a lot of fun with writing them. :-) Yes, I promise that at the end, your Elf will be 100% houseless spirit free ... ;-)

shirebound · 21 November 2015 · Chapter 1: Chapter One

*shivers* Ooooh, that's scary indeed! I'd love for you to continue. Faramir had, over the course of the evening, revealed his hopes, his goals, and his concerns regarding Ithilien. Discussion became ideas, ideas became planning, and by the end of the evening he had found himself standing with Legolas before the King, requesting permission for the Prince of Mirkwood to establish an Elven colony in the southern forests of Ithilien. That's a marvelous progression, and explanation for Legolas making Ithilien his home.

Author's reply

Thank you! It's been sitting half-finished on my computer for a while, and suddenly kind of reached out and grabbed me again. I'm glad you like it -- if I'm venturing out of my comfort zone it's nice to know someone is actually reading it ... :-P
