There are times like this when I really miss Fiondil. I would so love giving him input on this chapter. Maybe he's looking over my shoulder and reading it with me.

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 13 June 2016 · Chapter 20: The Watcher in the Water

Atya, Beta Amiga nettenyar, This chapter was chilling and thrilling, but even so it was a calming respite for me after the vagaries of the Real World. *lights candles for Orlando at the Cliff House* Thankfully you're safe in Mandos and well out of this, Atto. I envy you sometimes. :( Anyway, I figured it was the/a Watcher in the Water. Cthulhu might be one too, I suppose. o.O I'm so glad that Manveru, Erunaro and Olorin showed up! I knew Manveru and Erunaro were Michael and Uriel, but Olorin is Raphael, is he? Very interesting. They were a big help to both the Elves and the frightened Mortals, as was...Nate. *smiles tremulously at our favourite Vala* I hope Nate's taking as good care of *you* right now, Atto. I miss you and I love you. Tye-melin, Kaylee

I'm with UTfrog. I hope that Namo will explain some things to the humans, too!

6336 · 13 June 2016 · Chapter 20: The Watcher in the Water

Well that was exciting, Mair to the rescue, again! I thought they were supposed to be staying out of things and letting the chips fall where they may, guess Nate didn't want an influx of customers of the Elder kind. Loved Olerin's remark, sounds a little familiar, but it is still apt. I will be interested to see just how Loren and company explains things to the Mortals, ah well, wait till next Monday! Goes back to cleaning up feathers and discussing things with the cat, this is the second dove in two days, I wonder if it is the same one, they are not too smart, so it could be! Make more tea for Kaylee and reminds her self to dust under the beds. Lynda

UTfrog · 13 June 2016 · Chapter 20: The Watcher in the Water

Pandemonium would be correct. Wow! I do hope Nate shows up again to explain a few things to the poor humans.

obsidianj · 12 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

That's a cliffhanger and no mistake. What is that all about? First bears, then earthquakes, a spume and a tentacled monster? Are these tarns connected somehow? I don't believe that there are that many monsters. Or is this another of Glorfindel's bad dreams?

obsidianj · 12 June 2016 · Chapter 18: Denali

So, Glorfindel starts to remember at least some of his dreams. That spider story sounded very creepy. That backpacking trip sounds great. I hope they have a quiet time, but I don't hold my breath.

Dreamflower · 9 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

Wow! An action filled chapter! Now I am wondering what role these new people will play?

Barthir · 9 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

Another gripping installment. Whilst reading this story I've been wondering how much of the geographical locations are based on real places and how much are fictional, but both the description and action are great.

What a cliffhanger! Just how many large, nasty creatures there are in mountain lakes in Alaska? I hope the one near Wiseman does not wake at the same time. The younger Elves are finally starting to understand what the older ones learned in Beleriand and what the life was like there. It was quite surprising that Nell, too, was a city girl. Glorfindel's thought about proving that he is not a Vulcan were funny (and needed as distraction from the seriousness of the situatiom). And I'm now really curious as to why Iluvatar was there when the creature woke up. To keep them looking at the tarn, so that they would notice the water plume in time, perhaps? As for the last few chapters, it has been really entertaining to read Ron's profile on Elrond (and before that, the others') and see how everyone is adapting to the new situation with Glorfindel. I hope that Dave hasn't now labeled the Elves as a potential threat, though. Thank you, again, for posting this story!

Oh dear! Another of Fiondil's patented cliffies! And this one was a doozy - something unpleasantly tentacly seems to be trying to creep up through the tarn (its origin probably in some Lovecraftian dimension) straight after our heros, wo now also have some Mortals to protect! Next Monday can't come soon enough!

tharseo · 6 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

Poor Glorfindel, his relaxation didn’t last long. Bears, earthquakes, spumes and tentacle monsters, Oh my! I can image Legolas is having flashbacks. Fiondil always did write great cliff hangers.

Lyana · 6 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

Ok, I started biting my nails at the "trees more worried than a Mirkwood-raised Legolas had ever seen" part... Uh oh... And boy, what an uh oh! I am absolutely on tenderhooks to see what happens next week, and just why it's been orchestrated that they were there with this particular group of mortals at this time (those devious Valar!). Sounds like battle is about to get real for the Three Amigos, and dare I hope that Nell gets to channel her mother and show her chops?? I'm sure she's got them, and my guess is that everybody from Finrod on down underestimates her. :-) Lavender is very soothing, so my contributions to the Cliff House treats are Lavender Earl Gray tea and lavender shortbread cookies.

6336 · 6 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

Oh, Shitake Mushrooms! Now what! Just how many tentacled Tarn Monsters are out there? Let's hope Loren has a large can of Monster Begone with him, 'cause he is going to need it! Loved the Star Trek comments. Climbs up to Cliff House (wondering when they are going to install the elevator as my knees are not happy at the moment) bringing a supply of cookies, sandwich fixin's and soup, Looks like we are in for a wild ride. O_O *dives under bed at the Cliff House and peeks out, then shakily gets up and goes to make tea* What was THAT?! Oh Atya...I'm terrified for our Elves and their new Mortal friends, what is that, the Watcher in the Water, its distant cousin, a Cthulhu, a giant squid, what??? @_@ Waiting nervously for next Monday!!! Tye-melin, Kaylee

Soledad · 6 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

Now that's a nasty cliffhanger if I ever saw one! And we'll have to keep biting our nails until next Monday! Arrrrgh! I loved the Star Trek references. They were too funny. *g*

UTfrog · 6 June 2016 · Chapter 19: Into the Backcountry

Great writing and a fantastic cliff hanger. Eager for more

Larner · 2 June 2016 · Chapter 18: Denali

Ah, are Gwyn and Gareth beginning to remember what they brought out of the Templars stronghold? Most interesting that he's finally beginning to bring some details out into the conscious world! I've not been further north than Anchorage. Would love to visit Denali!

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 30 May 2016 · Chapter 18: Denali

Atya, Beta Amiga nettenyar, It's been too long since I've left a review, though I've been reading all along. Real Life has been whacking me over the head, and Atya's last story has been sweeping me up, that's my only excuse. Glorfindel's, um, adventure with the Mirkwood spiders was one of the creepiest things ever, and if I was able to I'd have been emailing Atto asking him what Glorfi thought he was doing running into spiders like that. I'm so glad Radagast was there to save him! It seems like the Elves are going to have an interesting time of it on their camping trip, and I have to wonder if maybe an artifact was hidden somewhere in Alaska...Are the Elves going to play Indiana Jones? I hope Wiseman will remain safe. On a more personal note, Atto might be pleased to note (assuming Lord Namo and Eru will tell him) that I've begun the process to apply to the SCA for membership. He was the Honorable Lord Dietrich Wenceslas von Brandeis of the Barony of Delftwood in the Kingdom of AEthelmearc, and I'm submitting my name, arms and badge as Sophie Brandeis of Southern Shores, Principality of the Mists, Kingdom of the West. My 31st birthday was yesterday, and Atto Fiondil's birthday would've been the 13th, so this is my gift to myself and Atto. (For those who are conversant with the Known World of the SCA and its Kingdoms and subdivisions, I should be easier to find now. :P Not that I would mind my fellow Fiondilie finding me, especially SCAdians.) I've used elements of Atto Fiondil's coat of arms for mine, though I couldn't inherit them without a heraldic will, which he didn't leave. I put a Sun-in-Eclipse on mine to honor him, however. Anyway, before I ramble on forever and ever, I'll close this review and just say that I'll try to be more consistent with reviews from now on. Settling back in at the Cliff House to wait for the next installment, and with love to my Fiondilie including the Beta Amiga nettenyar, Kaylee Arafinwiel (soon, hopefully, to be Sophie Brandeis)

Silmarien · 30 May 2016 · Chapter 18: Denali

Now why I am worried about the unexpected group of backpackers at the first lake, and the lack of weapons?

obsidianj · 29 May 2016 · Chapter 17: The Botanical Gardens

Seems like Glorfindel is very good with selective memory. Maybe this adventure in Mirkwood has some clue to what is happening in Glorfindel's dreams and that's why he doesn't want to remember them.

Lyana · 25 May 2016 · Chapter 17: The Botanical Gardens

Oh, poor Glorfindel. :-( I hope he finds peace, rest and hope soon. Seems like they are finding some pieces to the puzzle at least. Finrod is such a good friend! And no wonder Legolas was along. That incident seems to be a key... hope they're soon able to dig out what's happening in Glorfindel's dreams. I'm curious to see how Gwyn and Gareth respond to it!

Dreamflower · 23 May 2016 · Chapter 17: The Botanical Gardens

Oh, I love that we are getting a glimpse of an untold adventure! And I am really enjoying Legolas' increased role in the story.

Larner · 23 May 2016 · Chapter 17: The Botanical Gardens

Ooh, he needed to have a guard at his back, obviously. No wonder he doesn't remember this experience well!

MikoNoNyte · 23 May 2016 · Chapter 17: The Botanical Gardens

I love how Fiondil yet again, did his research for this story. The places mentioned are, for the most part that I could see, real. *giggles* Alaska's state flower is the Alpine Forget-me-not, a pretty purple and yellow/white flower. I could not find a reference to Fairbanks having a flower but hey! it's fanfiction! Now the Delphinium L. is a larkspur, very pretty, deep purple or very dark blue colour. Only the very young delphinium plants and seeds are poisonous; if ingested they can cause nausea, twitching muscles, paralysis and even death. But then, the pretty things MUST protect themselves. ..."I wished with all my heart to be back in Valinor with you and Sador giving the Valar grief.” Queue "I'll find my way home" by Gregorian Masters. And every time I hear it I think if Fiondil and cannot control myself. :( I think it's a good thing Glorfindel finally admitted he's tired. Took long enough! Now to let the 'boys' convince him to let go some of the reigns and relax a bit!
