This review is for the very kind people who are posting this story. I am grateful that you are doing so that we may continue to enjoy and Fiondel's work and I appreciate how very hard it must be for you. Thank you and his family for sharing his last works..

First, I wanna say how overjoyed I am to see more of Fiondil's work. Thank you so much to Ellie and everyone who's pennames I can't recall at 3am on my phone for making this happen. I've read Fiondil's work for years butbwas always too shy to review, and now I wish I'd expressed my love for every little detail he poured into his work. I was sincerely effected by his passing, I had taken for granted how much I anticipated his weekly updates and what a substantial part his writings played in my daily life. I've been re-reading his works throughband through hoping to one day see the rest. My heart skipped a beat when I say the first update and anticipating new chapters has made this at once one of the fastest and slowest months since Fiondil's passing. I love that the story is being updated weekly on Monday's, in true Fiondil style. I agree with Kaylee here. This story has moved at a pace quite unlike any of Fiondil's other works. Too much has happened too fast, too much has taken place offscreen, and there have been far fewer perspective changes. In some places the progession has been uncharacteristically jarring. Almost, dare I say, dreamlike. At first, I chalked it up to the unfinished status of the story, but the last few chapters really give credit to the idea that these events have taken place Glorfindel's head. Perhaps it feels dreamlike precisely because it is a dream.Fiondil is a master storyteller and I certainly wouldn't put it past him to mess with us like that :) haha Now, to wait until Monday.... Again, thank you all so much! Please excuse any typos, it's late and my phone is testy.

I don't think the three year interval has occurred. I think Glorfindel is fading from loneliness; therefore, the reader is experiencing his disjointed and delusional consciousness. I think Glorfindel is fading from unrequited love for Helena.

Larner · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

This constant stream of unreality has me concerned very much. Something appears to be attacking Glorfindel's mind.

nancylea57@yahoo.com · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

When I started reading this, I was a little leary because we will not get the story that Fiondil would have polished and buffed so lovingly before releasing it to us but I thought let's ride this dragon as far as he wrote....but his chapter, I can't help but wonder about the foreshadowing. The conversation between Glorfindil and Charles OMG.

I am getting some really bad vibes from this chapter, this time slippage of Glorfindel's is to quote an Istar,'Not good, not good at all!' I am really hoping that this all turns out to be a trauma induced coma/hallucination on Glorfindels part, all this death and destruction just does not sound right, there are red flags popping up all over the place. Has nobody noticed just how out of it Glorfindel is? Checks blood pressure meds, inserts mouth guard (teeth grinding is not a good thing) and goes back to knitting. A shot of some thing alcoholic would not hurt. Ooo, checks crock pot to see how chili is doing. Lynda

I read this at work before work started this morning and have not had time to get back to a review until now. I just can't believe that all of this is happening. Gorfi must be hallucinating all of this. That would explain the memory lapses and time shift problems he's having. I just don't get it otherwise. Maybe the brothers were with the Templar's on the Crusades but the number people, mortal and elf, that have gotten knocked off in this chapter alone just does not add up. We at the cliff house should be making a care package for Gorfi even as he's being treated in Wiseman for what ever mental attacks he's suffering from the enemy! Say it ain't so, we can't lose Derek and Alex (not to mention Felicity and the baby) now.

tharseo · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

There is a very surreal atmosphere to this chapter. I’ve begun to have doubts about most of the events in this chapter. I don’t believe Alex, Felicity and Derek are dead. Glorfindel appears to be the victim of some elaborate mind game by the enemy to cause him to lose his hope and spiral down into despair and defeat.

MikoNoNyte · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

I was reading this chapter, taking SERIOUS notes here for remarks... only Kaylee beat me to the punch! Attagirl Kaylee! This has serious Sci-fi written all over it. I'm going to speculate way off the cuff here and say ALL but the first chapter is a fake! Some sort of lesson or message? My reasoning is simple (see Kaylee): Edhellond goes BOOM! I mean, where's the preamble, where's the set up. Fiondil, dear beloved, would NOT just leap in that way sans setup or if he did, bringing some clue to the fore. It's his style. So I'm thinking this is all some attack in the main at least against Glorfindel, who is the main point-of-view through these chapters. As it is, I nearly fainted over Barahir et al, but after a near heart-stoppage over the Dynamic Duo plus 1 supposedly drowning in a lake.. uh, no. Just no. The evidence says otherwise. So I'll just have to sit back, sip tea *OH! gets up, fills tea and coffee canisters, loads the bread box with fresh scones, drops off the jar of local apiary honey*, and wait for the revelations. To our Beta Amigas, I offer hugs and deep bows for all the hard work. You ladies rock!

FV_Whisper · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

Well, things are getting weirder and weirder... The Enemy attacks, but who is he attacking? The 'victims' or Glorfindel's mind? The more I read it, the more I'm inclined to believe the later. Everything is happening only from Glorfindel's perspective and all the talking about the terrible events are being said to Glorfindel, and the first exchange between him, Finrod and Daeron showed how what Glorfi heard them saying doesn't have to mean they were saying it an sich. And I certainly refuse to believe Alex and the others are dead! After all the character build up on him (most of EA2 was basically this) to have those three die in just a few sentences, that never was Arthur's style...and Alex escaped death twice now. Having him die in an accident...Alex is more the kind to go out big... No something is really wring with Glorfindel here.... As a few more, I've been wondering weather this is all real as well. It could be 'all just a dream' or vision from Glorfi's side just as well. He was having nightmares at the end of EA3. I liked the part with Charles Waverly. And I think the part of 'They are only alive if you believe they are alive.' might hold a significant value here... If Charles truly is dead as well (and this seems to make more sense than the other deaths to me), then it saddens me, for he was the kind of priest I would have liked to have at my parish. And through him, and the questions I pestered Arthur about him, I discovered we do not only share the same faith, but also a lot of views on it, which meant a lot to me. Last thing to say is how if Glorfindel is in this state, this almost screams trouble for retrieving this talisman... And wether this object really will be as helpful/innocent as they expect it will be. Oh, and I forgot who posted mentioning the vision of Alex and Derek fighting together in the upcoming war, but this happened in EA2, and it was Amroth having this vision while watching the Terrible Two and their fellow students during a snowball fight... It's at times like this that I really miss Fiondil. I would have asked him why he killed off Darin, Alex and Felicity.

jaccairn · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

I'm beginning to wonder if anything beyond the Templar chapter is real. Glorfindel may be undergoing an extensive and elaborate educational dream to prepare him for the likelihood of something happening without him living the time required so that he can come up with alternatives in time.

Sunny · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

What is going on here? Have someone started slipping magic mushrooms into Glorfindel's morning coffe, or something like that? The way Glorfindel's mind is, well, glitching, is weird and really worrying. I

Kaylee Arafinwiel · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

Atya, Beta Amiga nettenyar, No. Nonononono. *brain threatens to go into full-blown panic mode but Kaylee clamps down firmly on panic* *borrows 'ex-spy, excuse me, Intelligence Officer' hat and puts on* Right. What would Alex *stifles a sob and pushes on* do in this case? Item: Title of chapter was 'The Enemy Attacks'. Therefore I KNEW this would be bad. Item: Glorfindel has been suffering from SOME sort of attacks since the beginning of this story and probably longer, though I will need to rely on fellow Fiondilie to come up with the proper citations. *looks around Cliff House for the rest of Fiondil's People* Item: No news came. None. From anyone. That is not good. It sounds like one front of the Enemy's attack is severing communications, isolating the Elves from one another entirely so that all they have to go on is hearsay. Which, to be frank, is what I would expect an enemy, nevermind THE ENEMY, to do. Divide and conquer. Safety in numbers after all!! Item: Finrod suddenly states 'you will not be able to get through' then immediately denies saying any such thing. Either Glorfindel was tricked into hearing things that no one said, or someone (or Someone) briefly used Finrod in a way only Glorfindel could discern. Either way, I don't like it. Item: On-cue thunderclouds are NEVER a good sign. Ew. Item: Gilvegil (apparently) sent a text that Barry and Conan died in a freak car accident. "A car accident, kill Barahir and Cennanion?" to half-quote my favorite half-giant from my other favorite fandom. No, I don't think so. Why Barahir, why Cennanion, and how can they be sure Alphwen and Eirien are fine? Item: Alex, Alex Alex! LAKE PLACID?! You take your gwador and your wife to Lake Placid??? We're not just talking Olympics here, Mr. Ex Intelligence Officer! Lake Placid has been known to harbor monsters!! What about the Balrog in Wild Lake??? Hmm? Maybe it has a cousin?! Item: The three Mortals die in a boating accident. A BOATING ACCIDENT. Derek the Navy man dies in a BOATING ACCIDENT. This ALL smells very fishy and I don't just mean because of the lake water. Item: ROY identified the bodies? Roy? How the heck did Roy get called first? Something is going on here. Item: Father Charles? Died from a heart attack in the intervening Three Years we missed out on? What??? WHAT??? What about Daniel? What about Josiah? Oh, Preacher Amigos, where are you...Whatever happened, it seems someone is 'borrowing' him to help sort out Loren. Conclusion: (to the relief of Atya, Beta Amiga nettenyar, and fellow Fiondilie alike I am sure) SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH GLORFINDEL. I don't even just mean these time slip things. I'm beginning to question if ANY of this has actually happened. Other than the Templar Incident I mean. Is it possible Wiseman is untouched and this is all in Glorfindel's head?? A very confused and distraught Kaylee

Jenniem · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

I cannot believe that Alex, Derek and Felicity are dead. I feel that Alex deserves some happiness after all he did for his country. I keep feeling that Glorfindel has gone down with some dreadful illness, and these are his fever dreams; the enemy has attacked him this way, to try to destroy all hope for him, so that he can no longer lead his friends in the battle against the enemy, thus destroying hope for mankind. And I bet Vorondur turns up wanting to know why they haven't kept in contact.

UTfrog · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

I am crying for our friends and hoping that Glorfindel has been living in dreams at the same time. Something awful is certainly going on. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Caitlin · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

What a chapter! Shocking is an understatement! Although I keep thinking of one of the scenes where someone has a vision of Alex and Derek fighting in the war in a previous EA, and hoping that is more true. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Sarah · 22 February 2016 · Chapter 4: The Enemy Attacks

Going to hold on to the very likely foolish hope that much of what happened in this particular chapter is not "real", at least not in the sense that it is occurring on/in the same level as everyone else's current reality. Not sure if I am making sense. SO confused at the moment (which is probably the point)

obsidianj · 20 February 2016 · Chapter 3: Practice Run

Glorfindel's loss of sense of times is troublesome. He should tell at least Finrod. I remember when he and Finrod vanished from the "official" timeline for a while. I hope Glorfindel is not whisked away at a point when he is needed or another thought, where does he go when he doesn't remember? I hope he is not replaced by someone/something else...

obsidianj · 20 February 2016 · Chapter 2: Reconnaissance

An interesting puzzle. I think Alex and Amroth may be able to figure out how to get in and out of the park without being seen. They both have the training to do something like this. If it will work is another question. What type of tree is growing in the cliff face that is over a thousand years old? Or was this tree also part of the strange time shift that happened to plant the bridge and the stairs? I'm missing Fiondil who could probably answer these questions.

Dreamflower · 16 February 2016 · Chapter 3: Practice Run

So the plan is coming together. They've come up with several back-up plans, which is good. It would be a shame if they couldn't use the Song, but finding out at the last second that "there IS no plan B" would not be good! Hmm...wonder what's up with Glorfindel's screwed up sense of time? Very intriguing!

Author's reply

The screwed up sense of time is difficult to explain, so we will not try to for now. You will understand soon enough. Thank you for reading and reviewing! Ellie

Erulisse · 15 February 2016 · Chapter 3: Practice Run

One more note: The East Coast is experiencing one of the coldest winters on record right now. The National Weather Service just posted the following: "A spokesperson for the center told the outlet, "The extreme temperatures (Saturday) night on Whiteface have to do with its elevation, 4,865 feet and the wind speed. The mountains of the Adirondacks are often some of the coldest places in the lower 48 states during the year." "The temps was so low on Whiteface Sunday, the National Weather Service said the mountain was colder than Antarctica." Perhaps it's a good thing the group isn't trying to retrieve the artifact during the winter - LOL.

Author's reply

This is Ellie. I agree with you that retrieving the artifact during the winter would have been well nigh impossible. Fiondil hated the cold and the ever-present snow of winter in New York. He even wrote a story about Turgon and I think Glorfindel, too, dealing with that snow-induced PTSD as it were. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Erulisse · 15 February 2016 · Chapter 3: Practice Run

Glorfindel's time skipping is an interesting sub-plot. I feel it's going to be far more important than anyone initially suspected. Dear Fiondil - circles in circles and more circles. How fabulous!

Author's reply

Fiondil planned this very carefully, so complain to him with any aggravation this may be causing you, the reader. I believe he is now available 24/7 to take note of such things. I fear though that his only response would be a muhwahahahahaha. But let us know how it turns out :-) Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing! Ellie

jgmsccc · 15 February 2016 · Chapter 3: Practice Run

Kaylee, may I join you in the Cliff House? I want to be there when the elves retrieve their "artifact." I, too, wish Glorfindel would just talk to someone! Anyway, having this story improves Mondays tremendously. Thanks to all who are bringing it to us.

Author's reply

This is Ellie. Please do join the other readers in the Cliff House. Glorfindel is too stubborn to talk to anyone, but we knew that about him already. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Larner · 15 February 2016 · Chapter 3: Practice Run

I wonder what it is that is interfering with Glorfindel's memory, or if he's being readied to move on to a place where it is more important he should be.

Author's reply

This is Ellie. Glorfindel cannot even work out the memory problems for himself. Sometimes it is really tough to be Glorfindel and kind of unfair to be him as well. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
