See if one of them can persuade Sam to dip his fingers into that hot, but not too hot, wax! =)
I do believe that the hobbits will be going home with some new skills! I hope that Sam won't be too stubborn to learn them.
Author's reply
I just may need to ensure that Sam gets more involved. Thanks, Kathy!

Ooh, a cliffhanger! I admit I have no idea what they have planned for the candlewax to help Frodo, but I am intrigued and anxious to find out. I hope it won't be long until chapter 4!!
Author's reply
I do love fluffy cliffhangers! I *hope* to start writing chapter 4 this week, even with visitors coming to town -- five cousins, one niece, and a couple of friends!

“Gimli, is there anything about this camp you don’t know?” Pippin asked in admiration.
Gimli just chuckled, his eyes twinkling.
That was a nice first meeting. And to make it perfect it ended with a cliff-hanger, one of the good sort ;-)
Now I am really curious to find out more about the wax!
Author's reply
Thank goodness some 'cliffies' are fluffier than others. I imagine Dwarves to be very resourceful and determined, and I know that Gimli would do anything for 'his hobbits'.
Thank you, Andrea! :)

I'm so happy you finally have time to write again and to pick up this lovely tale. I can see these two men being brought into the magic of hobbit common sense, but still able to contribute their own wisdom to the benefit of all. I'm really enjoying this tale, my friend.

What a lovely review, thank you. Being able to write again, a bit here and a bit there, is a vast improvement over the craziness of the past couple of months.

Love all of this. So much joy and warmth in it :))
My favorite part : “Pippin is a knight of Gondor, acclaimed for his deeds,” Frodo said, his eyes beaming with pride, “and King Éomer honored Merry for service to Rohan, saving Lady Éowyn's life, and aiding in killing the Dark Lord’s servant, the Witch King of Angmar. I wish I had awoken in time for the ceremonies.”
And so much love!!
Author's reply
Thank you, Layne. Three cheers for hobbity love!

Hey, no fair leaving me curious! I want to know how this candlewax is going to help Frodo. Are Caladir and Delumir going to try to help Sam finish healing, too?
Author's reply

Ah, yes, brushes often appear to desire to escape their duties. I have scads of them but the best of them love to hide from me. Pens are equally desirous of vacations, and scissors simply scurry away to hide under whatever they can find to hide under.
Now, to see what Frodo might find therapeutic regarding candle wax!
Author's reply
LOL, Shiremom and I went on a scissors-hunt just the other day.

What a great story Shire, Now I'm bouncing around like a hobbit in suspense. I love how you are portraying the hobbits interacting with each other. I can literally picture in my mind each one's personality. You have really written them well.
now what's up with the wax.
Author's reply
Thank you for your lovely words. I'm rather insatiable when it comes to imagining our hobbits during the relaxed, stress-free times of their lives. They most certainly deserve these sweet moments together.
What is up with the wax? *ponders*

Thank you, Antane. The men asking permission from Pippin was the last thing I thought to include in this chapter, so I'm very happy you mentioned it!

I love their inspecting of each other's clothes and that, thanks to Aragorn's characteristic sensitivity, Frodo and Sam will learn about the cleansing or Mordor. (-: More happy times you give us with our Fellowship.
Author's reply
Thank you, my friend. I don't have much time to write these days, but when I do, I try to bring out as much sweetness as possible.

A blessing for these two to realize Pippin survived and thrives. And his interactions with Aragorn would be quite the shock for those accustomed to Denethor's devotion to protocol, I'd think.

I think so, too. Aragorn's balance of warmth and wisdom will be such a boon to Minas Tirth, and all of Middle-earth.

sb. sorry to interrupt but phrasing here confuses me:
Peregrin. You saw it. There is no way...”
“There are two ways,” Aragorn told them quietly. “The resilience of hobbits, coupled with the determination and strength of a friend to find him beneath that great carcass ’ere his breath failed, and a strong and buoyant spirit was lost to us forever.”
1 resilience of hobbits 2 deter, and strength: which would mean 'and' should be 'else'
OR
1 resil, deter, and strength = hobbit returned
2 strong and bouy lost forever
which makes there are two ways (that the Hobbit lives {implied}) incorrect
now remember I DON'T read incompletes because so many people never finish them.
Author's reply
Yes, I meant that there are two ways that Pippin survived being crushed: (1) hobbity resilience and (2) the determination and strength of a friend. My apologies if my phrasing is confusing.
In 15 years of posting, I've never left a story unfinished! Hopefully that will never happen.
