Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 10: Darkness Revealed

“Would you cease your interruptions? I was thinking that since he was already a pony, how difficult would it be to simply turn him into a stallion?” Little Barrel was practically hopping from excitement. “Oh, yes! Oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please oh please—” “Enough!” Melki, Salir, and Omar shouted. Eldarion seemed not to have noticed any of the exchange, paying great attention to his dried apricot. heeheee Omar gently lifted Eldarion, who had fallen asleep, off Little Barrel. He had never felt any particular attachment to children, but something about this little made him feel almost...paternal? [hmmm hmm interesting] “Miriam would have loved this little one.” He thought sadly. Had he not decided that preserving the old ways of the Haradrim were so important, perhaps he would have been with Miriam now, surrounded by their own little ones. “Ah, dear Miriam...if only I could have another chance...” “Omar, are you simply going to stand there holding the child, or will you set him down?” Melki’s harsh voice brought him out of his thoughts. Sheepishly, he carefully laid Eldarion onto the soft grass. After making certain that Eldarion was fine, he turned to Salir and Melki. Omar had now dropped to his knees in fear. “My lord,” he whispered. Melkor nodded to Salir. “You will have heard of me.” Salir said quietly. “My name is Sauron.” Omar gasped. “I served you, my lord! In the War of the Ring!” “Yes, I know. Now, serve your master again!” “Yes, my lord!” They were silent for a moment. Then, Little Barrel stepped forward. “I, I am Saruman the Many-Colored!” Omar blinked. “Who?” “Saruman the Many-Colored!” “My apologies, I have not heard of you.” “I am the Istari responsible for the many deaths in Helm’s Deep! The Uruk-hai! The—” “Utter demise of my kingdom,” said Sauron dryly. “That was not my fault!” “Yes, it was!” Saruman turned back to Omar. “Are you certain you’ve never heard of me?” Omar shook his head. Saruman sighed, then turned back to Sauron. “It was your fault for letting the hobbit slip by!” “It was your fault for double crossing me!” Melkor waved his hand. “Enough!” They fell silent. heehee, also the part before this of course, where Morgoth explains he is Morgoth. You know, I would not be surprised if Omar behaves somewhat nicely to Eldarion.

Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 9: Little Barrel Saves the Day

Before you said his alias was Darien? Oh dear, Eldarion does’t know what a market is? I suppose he is only three…but what in the world are his parents doing? If she had a three year old child would he know what a market is? Well!” Saruman thought huffily. “This is certainly a fine turn of events. Just walks off and leaves me, without any care at all for—Oh, my. Is she not the lovely one? If I were young and handsome, well, I would have someone like that. Ah, she has a little boy with her. I wonder if he is her son...Hm. Something about him seems familiar...what is it now...those eyes...Isildur’s heir! That’s his son! The one that Melkor the Mad and Sauron the Stupid are after! Ha-ha! I have found him!” [hehhe oh ho.] Of course he would say his name is Eldarion! heehee. Sauron is busy freeing Morgoth, and what do they know, Saruman is kidnapping Eldarion! ohhoheehee won’t they be mad! What will I. do?

Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 8: The Dark Deeds of Night

Well Wow. How does Thranduil know about Morgoth? Sauron killed his father but…

Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 5: The Lords of Insanity

Why does Eldarion sound like Calvin? And in most books I have read he calls his parents Nana and Ada etc.

Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 4: Who We Are Instead

hmmmmm…rather interesting. Now they both have to ride Little Barrel. If Radagast or the Blue Wizards, or Gandalf even, if he is still here, they will hopefully not kill themselves laughing.

Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 3: Of Nose Rings and Little Barrels

Oh my. I think if I had been drinking something it would have spewed all over. Fortunately I was not. He should have known better. In fact, Maiar should know better. They do know better. Oh oh, is Saruman the ring? That could make sense. Oh I see, he is the pony. Why? One thing is for sure, this is ridiculous. Hold on, Sauron can speak now at the end?

Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 2: Melkor's Plan

Saruman sniffed. “I may have been in the guise of an old man, but powers untold lurked beneath that guise. And, as I recall, you were not a powerful dark lord, you were an eyeball. A big, red, glowing—” heehee “agh burzon-ishi“ I do not remember that part, but I may be wrong.

Fimbrethil · 29 June 2025 · Chapter 1: Conversations in the Void

Wow. This is nearly hilarious, in part due to unknowns and false assumptions.

magenta · 26 August 2004 · Chapter 10: Darkness Revealed

what can i say? it's utterly fantastic! i especially like the idea of bickering dark lords (or eyeballs, as the case may be), as it is rather amusing. it's nice to see character development of "baddies". well done! more! more! :)

Kitt of Lindon · 12 August 2004 · Chapter 10: Darkness Revealed

Like it? Oh, yes! At last I find myself able to review. As I have said, I am very pleased to see this updated again. If in Eldarion's place, doubtless I would have gone off with a talking pony. I can imagine Iorwen will worry. Saruman the Many-Colored? Bah! Who's ever heard of him? The story's coming along nice. Be in no rush for updates! I'll just sit here and pretend to be patient.

Kitt of Lindon · 1 July 2004 · Chapter 10: Darkness Revealed

Glad you've upated! I have no time for a long review now, but I will give a longer one later, I promise.

Hammerhand · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 10: Darkness Revealed

Excellent! More, more!

Vesta · 16 June 2004 · Chapter 9: Little Barrel Saves the Day

Hehehe...This is actually rather amusing to read. I, myself, am currently trying to digest The Silmarillion, and it's fun to see that the characters are being used in some stories. *snickers* Little Barrel...Love it^^ Keep it up, and I'll stay tuned for more updates!

bryn · 3 February 2004 · Chapter 8: The Dark Deeds of Night

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... oooh my aching ribs!!! *snort* Eldarion, you scamp! Puff-puff! Alright, I know this part wasn't supposed to be that funny, but for some reason, I began envisioning the dark ominous clouds... You know how in cartoons the single raincloud follows around an unlucky character and does nothing but rain on him? That's how I picture Aragorn, at the moment. Thranduil, you say? Where!? *squeaks excitedly* Oh I love Thranduil!

Author's reply

Haha...the raincloud thing... Yup, Thranduil should (hopefully) make an appearance soon...Just as soon as he gets the letter and travels to Gondor.

Woodswalker · 31 January 2004 · Chapter 7: The Deepening of the Night

Yes, Miriel, I am enjoying this story very much, although I am now a bit confused about the tone you are trying to set. For awhile it seemed to be silly humor (Sauron becoming a Nose?). At this point the Baddies are a bit more believable, but they are still acting really dumb. So despite your wish to put something 'dark" in, the story has a sort of "light" tone to me. I am just skeptical that an elemental baddie like Melkor would be this clueless. Oh, well, I'm still enjoying it. BTW did you say you would read our fiction if we reviewed your site? OK, my fiction (original, not LOTR fanfic) is at my site, http://www.geocities.com/shadow42.geo/fiction.html .

Author's reply

Thanks for reviewing! Truly, I'm just rolling with whatever tone the muses give me. I think that while I would like for the story to get darker, it most likely will not. I enjoy humor and comdey very much, so probably most of this story will be light. Sorry I haven't gotten a chance to read your fic yet! I'll try to see it later. (Although geosites doesn't get along well with my computer.) Thank you for your review.

Woodswalker · 31 January 2004 · Chapter 2: Melkor's Plan

I'm enjoying this immensely. I love getting a glimpse into the characters that we don't usually get to see as more than a label, like "dark Lord". This fanfic site is as good as getting another LOTR book! There's lots of room for humor, too: "Sauron & co. decide to use a mundane object for their next ploy. One Toaster to Rule Them All..." although I don't know how silly you want to get. I really do like seeing what really makes guys like Sauron tick. (guys? am I sure he is a "guy"?)

Kitt of Lindon · 30 January 2004 · Chapter 8: The Dark Deeds of Night

I can find few words to express my thoughts on this chapter other than: *Snort. Chuckle. Burst out laughing. Gasp for air* Whew.

Author's reply

I'm so glad that I can bring a bit of humor to this dull, dull world. OMG, imagine my shock today when I opened my mail to find 4 reviews! I was floored. I almost fell out of my seat from the shock. Thank you for your lovely sentences of appreciation! Next chapter coming soon! I just need a couple of days to process ideas before I begin to complete chapter 9, so expect an update in a week or so. Thank you again!

Kitt of Lindon · 30 January 2004 · Chapter 7: The Deepening of the Night

The recent updates made my otherwise below-zero cold and gloomy day a cheery one. The 'OUR PLAN TO TAKING OVER ARDA By Lord Melki and his Lieutenant Salir'...is clever and hilarious! Really, the whole story has a cozy, funny feeling; and that is my favorite sort of humor. Ah, but it is darkening, literally. When those two ‘villains’ darkened the city, it had both a dramatizing and funny effect at the same time.

Author's reply

"Cozy, funny feeling." Yes, as in things will get bad, but not so bad as to the point where you will begin feeling depressed. Haha, you know, when I said the next chapter would be somewhat "darker" I meant it in the figurative sense, but I think that it's hysterical that I achieved that in the literal sense as well. Thanks so much for reviewing!

TrinityTheSheDevil · 30 January 2004 · Chapter 8: The Dark Deeds of Night

*snort/snicker*!!! Puff-puff!!! LMAO! Oh boy, that's one of the reasons I own dogs, not cats, haha! Makes ya wonder how they became Dark Lords to begin with, LOL! Cool chapter, love it! :-) -Trin

Author's reply

Hm...I do believe being trapped in a Void would mess with one's mind... Thanks!

TrinityTheSheDevil · 29 January 2004 · Chapter 7: The Deepening of the Night

LOL! I have to say, this is a very interesting fic! A well mixed blend of humor and drama, more than enough to make it worth going to my favorites! :-D *eyes stare at the pony* Poor Saruman. Stuck as a horse. *Snicker* *ahem* I do hope you update soon, I can't wait to read the rest! :-D -Trin

Author's reply

Wow, I'm honored that you consider it worthy to go on your favorites. Haha, if you liked Saruman as a pony, you will love chapter 9! Well, you are in luck, I just updated! So, the next chapter is up. I look forward to hearing from you. :D

stearchica · 16 January 2004 · Chapter 7: The Deepening of the Night

Im here im here!! Hahaha xD I missed your update on chapter 6 (starting school and having TONS of assignment has something to do with it). Hahaha turning the city black? I assume that by this it means the walls will be black and stuff? hahahaha hilarious. I'm torn, i want the Dark Lords to carry on (i've grown very fond of them) but i dont want them to harm Eldarion, he's so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute. Now i have the boy of the movie stuck in my head (do you also?) every time i read your story. I absolutely loved the "soldier" scene when he says good bye. I thought it was very touching, very "happy, loving" family-like, which is a great thing. Now i will bug you with two things: first, Arwen seems to have remained "elvish" (ie, percieving this, and Aragorn calling her so) even though she became mortal? This is interesting, as I have always wondered how you "feel" after you chose to become mortal. Could you maybe, explain to me how you view it? (you dont need to do it in the story, i feel this explanation would be rather out of place for the action). and the second thing: in this last chapter, Eldarion is really behaving like an older child. like 5 or so. but that's ok, really, and haha im no expert about children, anyway continueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee dont despair about having so few reviews. i wrote a story, and only got 10 reviews :( so i sort of stopped writing. you could also post on ff.net, but its so full of silly ppl writing silly things... i dont know where you would post 4th age stuff though :)

Author's reply

Well, the city black pretty much means that the sky is black, therefore the city is dark as a dark room, rendering its occupants pretty much blind, akin to the darkness that crept over Minas Tirith before the battle of Pellenor fields. Sauron repeating himself. All right, so to answer your question about Arwen, yes, I have never had reason to think that when she became mortal, she ceased to be elvish. Actually, I think that it is even more painful for her to remain elvish, as she can sadly look at the passing years, so few to elves, yet her time is as short as that of all men; now. I do not think that she would cease to be elvish merely because she would now die an early death. I think she would feel the same, yet sad, as the short years of men, which before she only experienced when people she knew died, were now hers. No, I believe Eldarion is acting perfectly for his age. Thank you for asking! I am a Sunday school teacher to 3 years olds, and I babysit one at least once a week. They are much more mature than they are given credit for. Now, if Eldarion were 2, that would be a different story. :) Actually, I believe that a child of 5 years would be more articulate, not so afraid, nor manipualte in the same way as a 3 year old. :D Thank you so much for your helpful comments. I'm trying to get started on chapter 8, expect it in about a week to two weeks.

Kitt of Lindon · 8 January 2004 · Chapter 2: Melkor's Plan

I love your story so far. The way they mention those happenings in the Silmarilion is a nice touch in the story's humor.

Author's reply

Thanks so much for the reivew! It is much appreciated. Yes, I thought that the bringing up of old wounds would be, shall we say, painful to our dark lords. Happy reading!

stearchica · 24 December 2003 · Chapter 5: The Lords of Insanity

Hey! sorry it took me so long to review! but i am following this story, i really like it!!! Your dark lords are so funny, I cant explain, it sort of makes sense they would act like that, :)! Eldarion is cute! Silly Arwen, unaware of her son's manipulations, but then again, most parents are!! hehehe!! >:)

Author's reply

That's ok! Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Yup, power corrupts the dark lords, and they have trouble getting along. More Eldarion is coming up. I finally posted Chapter 6 today, and there is a nice bit about unaware Arwen and manipulating Eldarion. Thank so much for your reviews!

bryn · 20 December 2003 · Chapter 5: The Lords of Insanity

For some reason, Eldarion's block thoughts struck me as hilarious. I'm still giggling over them. OOoh, that kaniving (um, is that how you spell it?) little monster! On one hand, Melkor (or shall I call him Melki) is attempting to take over the world, and on the other, little Eldarion already has... ;)

Author's reply

I never thought of it that way...thanks Bryn. :) Yes, just wait until they kidnap him! :o They truly have no idea what they are getting themselves into... And just for you, (Ok, fine, my amusement as well), we shall continue to reveal more of Eldarion's thoughts to take over the world. BTW, thanks for the review. I was beginning to feel very sorry for myself over having no reviews. :) Thank you for bringning me back from that awful fate. :D I must go read latest chapter of "Cantrip," and you must update Marinas Stiria soon! Merry Christmas to you! Author Reply: Chapter 6 is up now. :D

stearchica · 9 December 2003 · Chapter 4: Who We Are Instead

haha this is great, please continue, its so funny, i love your melkor

Author's reply

Thanks! I have continued.
