Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 19: Samwise's Grandest Adventure
A single piece missing? The troll was very thoughtful, then! Heh!
Author's reply
*giggles* A very thoughtful troll, indeed! Maybe he'll sneak back later for another piece...

Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 18: All in the Family
Yes, all now definitely in the best of hands, I'd think. Bless the Wizard.
Author's reply
Just had to bring him back into the story for a final bow!
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 17: A Slippery Slope
It was spoken too early, then. And they'll face some hypothermia before they're done. Bilbo is a wise enough Hobbit, though!
Author's reply
I really like writing Bilbo as wise and practical. He's lived a long time, and knows how to face a crisis.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 16: Unquenchable
What could possibly happen? He asks that? Are such pronouncements to be as ill-fated as Theoden's?
Author's reply
"What could possibly happen"? is right up there with, "How could we possibly get lost?" *grins*
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 15: Buried Treasure
Yes, Bilbo saw that light in Frodo from the first, and it drew them together. And how wonderful all realize Sam's already strong instinct to father Frodo as well. And LOVE the weapons being up the tree, myself!
Author's reply
Of all the chapters I've ever written, this is one of my very favorites. I love it when Frodo's value and 'light' are recognized by those who can appreciate it.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 14: Adventuring
Yes, as long as Aragorn makes it plain he's not going to eat a Hobbit lad or two, then it's fine to call Sam by his dear-name. How wonderful!
Author's reply
I had such a wonderful time writing this chapter, Larner. I wanted Sam's first encounter with one of the Big Folk to be different than Frodo's... but equally gentle.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 13: A Letter from Bree
Hooray! Sam will get to meet Estel years before they truly come to depend on one another!
Author's reply
If he can't meet an elf yet, what fun for him to meet a kindly Ranger. :D
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 12: Plain Hobbit Sense
Yes, a waste of a good mind loaded with the best of plain Hobbit sense. And Frodo and Bilbo will see that need met! And Frodo doesn't yet dream what Sam's caring will mean to him one day.
Author's reply
I was so surprised and delighted when Sam entered this story! I hadn't planned on it at the beginning.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 11: Remember Me
Poor Aragorn is getting his baptism in Hobbit lore by fire, isn't he? And that was such a wonderful gift for Gandalf to give Frodo.
Author's reply
I'd love a gift of memory for some early years of my life. There are some relatives I only barely remember.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 10: Lost and Found
That dratted Ring is so very close to being revealed.... Love the troll cookies, and the reassurance that Aragorn has seen trolls even if Frodo hasn't.
Author's reply
Thank you! I love how sweet these two are together.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 9: Safe
Yes, a happy day for both of them, I'm certain.
Author's reply
That's how I love to imagine it. :D
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 8: A Hidden Gift
And so the first time the King's full healing gift was manifested was for Frodo's sake; and Frodo heard and returned. Excellent. "Put it on. Disappear." Advice best not taken even then.
Author's reply
You're so sweet to leave all these reviews! I had wanted to explore Aragorn's first knowledge of his 'gifts', and enjoyed finding a place for it in this story.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 7: Fighting Shadows
Thank heavens he didn't fall on the knife--and Aragorn would do very well to put those knives well out of the way!
Author's reply
Yes, Frodo was very lucky! And in later stories in this series, Aragorn is very careful to put all his weapons away... and Halbarad does the same, in "When the King Comes Back".
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 6: In the Mind's Eye
Yes, trust Frodo to have THAT hallucination, the one he will one day actually live with! Poor lad!
Author's reply
It was so difficult for me to give Frodo such a frightening 'vision'.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 5: A Precious Life
Indeed, the most remarkable Baggins of them all, I think. How wonderful an image, Gandalf comforting Frodo like that.
Author's reply
Thank you. I remember when writing this chapter, thinking it was too simplistic a subject... a wizard comforting a sick tween, and thinking about hobbits. But I grew to love this chapter very much.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 4: What We Most Fear
I've not known hallucinations myself, but have been around those who did. It can be pretty scary, of course. And the worry for Frodo is quite well expressed.
Author's reply
I had two very odd hallucinations in my life, one from anesthesia and one from exhaustion, and they're VERY strange and scary. I'm afraid Frodo reaps the dubious benefit of my personal experience, here.
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 3: Entwined
Yes, the halflings--HOBBITS--will know peace, or Aragorn will know precisely why not! His heart, too, has been stolen. Other than the fact malaria is spread not by contact but by mosquito bites, this is wonderful. I'll figure this is a bad case of influenza, then.
Author's reply
"Quarantined" is so AU, I felt comfortable inventing an AU illness to go along with it. "Swamp Malaise" is an illness all its own, and proves to be a very interesting one!
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 2: Friends, New and Old
Yes, been there and done that, raising my own children, of course. Lovely, lovely, seeing Frodo's assurances he's NOT little!
Author's reply
"Frodo's assurances he's NOT little"... This becomes a theme throughout this series, and Frodo grows to love being called "little one" by a certain stubbornly teasing Ranger. :D
Larner · 25 October 2006 · Chapter 1: A Wizard's Mistake
Finally am backtracking to read this one. Very, very well started. Dear Frodo, already curious and questioning.
Author's reply
Oh my, it's so thrilling when an older story is discovered and read! Thank you, Larner. :D
Daynawayna · 11 August 2006 · Chapter 11: Remember Me
::stands and applauds::: Wonderful story, Shirebound! I loved it! :) And it makes sense that it would spawn so many sequels; Aragorn is now a Baggins after all... how could there NOT be more stories to write? :D OH, and by the way, I'm working on getting my husband to read The Island... he loves Lost and I'm trying to convince him to read it! :) I'll win him over yet! LOL
Author's reply
Thank you, Dayna!! I do love "Quarantined" and all the stories that came out of it. I'm thrilled when folks 'discover' this original tale and enjoy it. LOL, let me know if he reads it! That would be so cool. Two fandoms in one fell swoop. :D
Daynawayna · 11 August 2006 · Chapter 17: A Slippery Slope
OH NO!! NOT ARAGORN! Ollie to the rescue! This is such a good story, Shirebound! Now I'll HAVE to read all of its proginey ! :)
Author's reply
Thank you, Dayna!!! So glad you're enjoying it! :D
Daynawayna · 10 August 2006 · Chapter 14: Adventuring
It's so cute and fluffy!!! :) I love how you write Aragorn and Frodo... and Sam's just s'darn cute! I'm off to read more! :D
Author's reply
Thank you, dear one. I'm so happy you've discovered this story. It was (and is) very special to me.
Daynawayna · 10 August 2006 · Chapter 12: Plain Hobbit Sense
SURPRISE! :) I have a BAAAAD habit of forgetting about stories I've started and then picking them up a year later... and Quarantined is this years winner! LOL. I'm still loving the interaction, the fluff, hobbity love and friendship, and watching Bilbo "mother" Frodo and them both growing to love each other more. I can't wait to see where this ends up so I can FINALLY read When the King Comes Back! :)
Author's reply
Hi, Dayna!! I'm so happy you're reading and enjoying this. I still can't quite believe how "Quarantined" blossomed into so many stories, all written with love and fluffage. :D
<3 evenstar · 6 July 2006 · Chapter 1: A Wizard's Mistake
Hey i don't know if you would want to do it but you should make a prequel about how aragorn got sick and when he was sick and Gandalf taking care of him...i don't know just a suggestion..it was a great story though
Author's reply
Glad you enjoyed this! "Quarantined" has lots of sequels, but no prequels! Maybe someday... :D
