Rogue Vanya · 1 October 2008 · Chapter 15: United

I like this story very much. I always wondered what a modern day lord of the rings would turn out like! Please continue!

Calenlass Greenleaf · 31 August 2006 · Chapter 15: United

Marvelous story. Well-spun. I wish to read more of this. I rate it 5 stars.

sKribe · 6 July 2005 · Chapter 15: United

This is awesome. Probably the best AU I have ever read! I look forward to all your updates!

eRose · 21 November 2004 · Chapter 15: United

I love this story! More, please.

sielge · 16 September 2004 · Chapter 15: United

I must confess that this is weird but interesting! I would like to read more about the Elessar's heir and his adventures. And about some Aragorn's adventures too!

websterans · 15 December 2003 · Chapter 15: United

This story has really drawn me in; the elves' situation is convincing, as is Professor Evanston. And Maglor! I love the way you handled his meeting with Elrond, and the complicated emotions the two have shared for Ages. Continue, please!

Orophins Dottir · 12 December 2003 · Chapter 13: Fantasy Novel

I definitely have to go fetch a new lace handkerchief at this rate. The scene of the twins' terror as Elwing threw herself into the sea is gripping. I like your depiction of Celebrian. She seems more like Celeborn than her mother.

Orophins Dottir · 12 December 2003 · Chapter 12: Revelations

I grow ever fonder of Maglor. This could be a dangerous thing as he is quite unpredictable. Your depiction of Maglor's dread of meeting Elrond got to me. *pulls out sodden lace handkerchief and wrings it out* Nodding acquaintanceship with "The Matrix", but I am otherwise lost on the Orc-Men. Wrong generation no doubt! Humble Scribe to his Majesty Thranduil

Orophins Dottir · 12 December 2003 · Chapter 11: The First Move

*cackles hysterically* The Mutt of Valinor! Does Orome know? I hope Celegorm was not the previous owner of this lovable mutt? Legolas I see is still quite a good shot.

Orophins Dottir · 12 December 2003 · Chapter 10: Many Phone Calls

Loved the title of the chapter! Do not despair, as I remember even "Many Meetings" was a bit on the jumping flea order as well. Even Tolkien had to get all the characters onstage! Adar Maglor! Alas, for poor Elrond. Humble Scribe to his Majesty Thranduil

Orophins Dottir · 12 December 2003 · Chapter 9: Disguises

"One had actually been an Elf (Noldorin, living in Salt Lake City); he had wished Legolas good luck and the aid of Eru. Legolas smiled slightly at the memory. And in addition, Legolas had managed to solicit about 800 dollars for various universities." The idea of a Noldorin elf living in Salt Lake City! It is somehow oddly comforting to me. Not to mention extremely funny. There may yet be hope! The descendent of Aragorn seems as cranky as ever. Will he be as scruffy? Humble Scribe to his Majesty Thranduil P.S.--If my own Woodland King doth reapper, tell him that there is the small matter of all that back pay he owes me since his disappearance. I have remained ever faithful, but the rent is still due each month!

Orophins Dottir · 12 December 2003 · Chapter 8: Estranged

Your Celeborn is quite amazing. It's nice to see him portrayed as other than "Mr. Galadriel" (as Marnie the Celeborn maven once called him!) He is anything but that. It's truly hard to justify affection for such a kinslayer as Maglor, but there it is in me. I have always liked that misguided elf! Well, I also like Eol, so it seems to be a pattern with me! Well done.

Orophins Dottir · 12 December 2003 · Chapter 7: Frustration

ELMO? Celeborn's grandfather is ELMO? *laughs hysterically* Someone in the regal lord's lineage had a definite brain quirk somewhere. Loved the meeting with Galadriel and Maglor. Also, the way she has learned to control her frustration over the years.

Miriel · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 7: Frustration

Very good chapter. Malgor's meeting with Galadriel was wonderful, and I can't wait to see where you will take their relationship. That's all for this chapter. Oh, yes, and I liked Gandalf with Sauron. I think that will be all for today, I shall finish reviewing your story when I get some time again. Until then, cheers! (And please update soon!)

Miriel · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 6: Never the East

I do believe that it would be near impossible to sneak up upon any elf. I liked watching Celebrian cook. Lord Glorfindel on the phone! Heehee. :D Poor, poor, GLorfindel...Run Gandalf, run! *Glorfidel rounds corner with knife* Malgor! Aha, I was right! I loved reading his observations of the modern world, especially of the women's clothing. I feel very much the same as he in that respect. Nope, English doesn't sound exactly beautiful. Just wait until he hears music...

Miriel · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 5: Recurring Theme

Ick, Sauron's evil. How, praytell, does the LAdy Galadriel still have her mirror? Interesting thought on the "variations" on the theme, as opposed to reincarnation. Son of Feanor...ooo... Sorry that this review was so short, there wasn't much to say!

Miriel · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 4: I Breithan

"Goodness, no!" Elladan pretended to be horribly offended by the question, but his eyes were full of mirth. "We are big 18,000-year-old peredhil, Legolas! We can fend for ourselves." That made me laugh. :D You have wonderful descriptions of Elronds' house. "Mother, you should be ashamed!" Elladan said from somewhere over Legolas' left shoulder, laughter in his voice. "Why do you not hug all the young Elves that come to your home like that? Is there something you have not told us?" added Elrohir. Heehee. "you have not" ---there is a perfect example of why your elves are believable. They speak proper English. Wonderful explanation of Dagor Dagorath. It is entirely believable. Very, very well written. I actually thought that you had taken it directly from Tolkien!

Miriel · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 3: Sinister

Ah, poor Glorfindel. He is always tormented by something...I do not envy his task of finding Olorin. Bangledesh...I had to find that on a map once...somewhere in the middleish of the far east...I think... I enjoyed Glorfindel feeding the apple to the goat. How very elf-like. Haha..."An elastic band; Legolas and Elladan had spent a good deal of the evening before discussing at length the merits of such elastic products)." That's good. :D "Does Lord Elrond take offense at Elrohir's shorn hair because he cannot fashion it in the traditional way? " I'm curious. Does he take offense? Question:Do Elladan and Elrohir have alias's as well as their father? Since their father and grandmother are such wonderful business people, would they not be some of America's most eligible bachelors? Nope, you're right on the money with Gandalf. S'okay, I like the braid thing. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I always felt sorry for that drunk guard in the Hobbit...That was quite clever really, you pointing out that Legolas could perhaps hold his wine better than the other half elven.

Miriel · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 2: Long Lost

Interesting that the captain could not meet "lawrence's" eyes for long. "Many a summer before you." No kidding, eh? I find it amusing that Legolas was so aggravated by his doorbell that he changed it from a buzz to a chime. :) I'm sure you know this, but Elrond is the great-grandson of Luthien, who is 1/2 Maia. Elrond's sons, therefore, are her great-great grandsons. I have no idea how much Maia blood is flowing in them, however. I love how the elves, old as they are, still retain some of their youthful attitudes. You have portyaed them well. I find it interesting how much the elves admire the inventions of men. Most standpoints make them be disgusted with the new inventions. I enjoy their admiration. Thank you for giving your elves proper speech! They do speak just enough AMerican to make it believable, but not so much so that you wonder when the elves learned to speak slang. "Who was it that stuffed himself like a Hobbit at King Richard's table?" Hm. I would like to hear more of this incident. Obviously the elves have been around a bit. I think you have a wonderful grasp on Legolas' personality. He is more of the Legolas from the book than the film, which is wonderful. I agree, I think he is younger than the film portrays. Well, that's all for this chapter.

Miriel · 10 December 2003 · Chapter 1: Darkness is Coming

I have decided to review each of your chapters. :-) A fantastic beginning. Forever and a half... That's a wonderful phrase. I'm probably going to find myself whispering that sometime. :D I'm glad that you kept both of the twins in the story. I can't imagine them separated. It's great how you have managed to give them separate identities, such as the earing and the hair. Also, Elladan seems more like the older brother, at least in this chapter. Yes, I agree, I don't believe that the Professor pictured his elves ears quite as pointed as they have been depicted. Hm...the eyes...so old and full of wisdom. What would it be like to meet an elf, I wonder? Lovely begining.

Miriel · 9 December 2003 · Chapter 15: United

This is the one of the best stories I have read in a long time! Please update soon! I'm going to go back and review all the chapters one by one as I get some time. I had a thought on Malgor...mightn't it be interesting for him, the greatest composer ever, to hear modern music? Would he scoff and Beethoven, Bach, and Motzart? Would he tear off his ears in agony at the sound of rap? Just a thought. :-)

Nikara · 6 December 2003 · Chapter 15: United

Wow, you have added a lot since the last time I saw you. Great job with these chapters!

Orophins Dottir · 6 December 2003 · Chapter 6: Never the East

Ah, Maglor! Feanor's seed yet lives as well! Glad you brought the most even tempered of that crew back. He should prove useful. Do I sense a reunion with the child (or children?) he once fostered?

Author's reply

Yes you do. *laughs* You'll like chapter 15. As to who I 'chose' to bring back, it was Jillian Baade's suggestion, and he's the only one of Feanor's sons that even had a chance of having survived.

Orophins Dottir · 6 December 2003 · Chapter 5: Recurring Theme

". . .to Washington, D.C., the very den of the lion"! Little did I know when I lived there so very long ago! Fair Vikki, NOW you say you will begin to do "stretchy" things to your readers! Glorfindel with fedex and 747's is no strectch??? I tremble with fear, but shall gather my courage and continue down this path. Do the Valar take 911 calls think you? Humble Scribe to his Majesty Thranduil

Author's reply

Well, the stretchiness in the content of the next chapter doesn't have much to do with technology, so I don't think it will scare you too much. :)

Orophins Dottir · 5 December 2003 · Chapter 4: I Breithan

Elrond with stock splits! *snarf, snarf, snicker!* I am really getting into this. Mayhap it will jump start my "Revenge" story yet again! I have been stuck on it for a time. Melkor back! Hubba, hubba! He is just so deliciously evil. Back from the Void, we bring you MELKOR!!!! Ai, Elbereth! Humble Scribe to his Majesty Thranduil
