Raksha The Demon · 26 August 2005 · Chapter 23: Ithilien, Part II

We don't get enough stories about Faramir's relations with his Elven neighbors - this is a fine introduction, a window on Faramir's reaction when the topic was first first brought up to him. I'm envisioning Legolas trotting up to Faramir's tent (before the fair white house was built)atop Emyn Arnen to ask to borrow a cup of sugar...

Author's reply

Thank you for all the comments on these drabbles, Raksha. I'm glad you enjoyed them. I suppose it's a bit of a stretch to show Arwen asking for the right of Elves to settle in Ithilien, rather than Legolas -- but she's an easier character for me to write. And yes, Faramir's relations with his Elvish neighbours is a fascinating topic. I wonder how he & Legolas would settle disputes b/w their respective subjects? (Down, plotbunny!)

Larner · 25 August 2005 · Chapter 45: Ithilien, Part III

Civilization has its drawbacks. Again, lovely imagery, and a superb illustration of regret for the past.

Larner · 25 August 2005 · Chapter 44: Kin Strife

Nasty old witch for a mother-in-law, I must say! Poor girl, having to hear that! Lovely imagery.

Author's reply

Hi Larner, Thank you for all your kind comments on my drabbles. I'm glad you enjoyed them. As for the "poor girl" -- well, maybe... but Vidumavi isn't exactly a kind soul herself. She was perfectly serious about killing her MIL! ;-)

Larner · 25 August 2005 · Chapter 43: Another Sea

I believe I read this on the list, and loved it then as I love it now. A beautiful look at the coming of the new queen to Rohan at Eomer's side.

Larner · 25 August 2005 · Chapter 42: Homecoming

Yes, the inner conflict is plain.

Larner · 25 August 2005 · Chapter 41: Crownless

I grieve only that Halbarad did not live to offer counsel to his beloved cousin after the battle of the Pelennor. Nice thoughts here.

Werecat · 4 May 2005 · Chapter 37: Orc's Best Friend

Awww... Love the warg's POV. I swear she has reincarnated as one of my cats.

mirthor · 2 May 2005 · Chapter 40: At swim, two brothers

A marvelous memory for Faramir to keep. Perhaps he fancies Boromir remembered the same on his way down the river?

Author's reply

Hi mirthor, what an intriguing take on this drabble. Glad to know you enjoyed it, and thanks for reading and reviewing.

Nancy Brooke · 2 May 2005 · Chapter 12: Dark Memory

Nice; a deceptively simple scene in which a great deal is told about friendship and the two men involved. This is an excellent example of a drabble since it accomplishes so much within the framework of the form. Also loved your characterizations.

Author's reply

Hi Nancy, thank you for the review. I really enjoy writing young "Strider" and it's nice to know that you appreciated this glimpse of him & Halbarad.

Nancy Brooke · 25 April 2005 · Chapter 7: The White City

Very nice; your language flows easily and clearly. It's nice to have a tender background story and this little glimpse into a more complicated Beregond.

Nancy Brooke · 24 April 2005 · Chapter 4: Links

Great. The whole drabble meanders up to that very forceful and poignant end. I particularly liked "Pendulum," though - hypnotizing. You've made a lot out of a powerfully simple idea and, personnaly, it's nice to see Frodo acknowledging Boromir.

Author's reply

Thank you for reading & for the kind words, Nancy. I do believe that Frodo would understand Boromir very well -- they were both overcome by the Ring's power in the end.

Raksha The Demon · 11 March 2005 · Chapter 36: Interment

Ooh; Denethor contemplating his mortality and not guessing, thankfully, at the sorrow of his ending. Well done!

Raksha The Demon · 11 March 2005 · Chapter 16: Ithilien

Leave it to Faramir to appreciate the potential in the wild woods of Ithilien. A nice moment in my favorite Ranger's life.

MaidenofValinor · 22 January 2005 · Chapter 4: Links

I put this into Word and it sadi that it was 99 words! Sorry, just wanted to check up on you.

Author's reply

Huh. MS Word isn't always accurate, but I hand-counted and you're absolutely right. I have no idea where that one word went; it must have disappeared during revision!

Marion · 14 January 2005 · Chapter 27: The Hour of our Meeting

Thank you for writing a Bilbo-fic! I'm very flattered... Nobody ever wrote a fic for me (blush!) I must confess though, that when I asked for a 'young Bilbo fic', I was thinking of a child Bilbo, perhaps with his mother Belladonna (one of the remarkeble daughters of the Old Took) or father, or perhaps on his grandfather's (the Old Took) lap when that canny old hobbit talked to his old friend Gandalf. Remember that Gandalf remembered Bilbo as a brighteyed young lad, always asking about the world outside the Shire? But I love *any* fic about Bilbo, because Bilbo is THE Hobbit. The Dragon-whispering, Ring-finding, Riddle-asking Burglar. Who is also a poet, a writer, a story-teller and a scholar. Bilbo rocks! Yeah! But enough raving about Bilbo. Thank you again for writing this fic. (Sorry I'm so late with reviewing. I had the flu last week and must have missed it...)

grumpy · 7 January 2005 · Chapter 26: Chosen

enjoyed all your drabbles. Love ranger drabbles the best, so really liked this last one of Aragorn as a young ranger.

Author's reply

Thanks, grumpy. I like writing Ranger drabbles too; I'm working on another one featuring Aragorn & Halbarad.

Marion · 6 January 2005 · Chapter 26: Chosen

I usually pass up at drabbles (because they're so short) and I never yet reviewed one, but I have to say that I've just read all of your drabbles (reading one I had to read them all!) and each is a little gem!! Wonderful! I especially like the fact that your subjects are so diverse (a drabble about Rosie and one about Smaug, yet another about Denethor or the Ainur) Would you write one for me? (pretty please?) About Bilbo? A young Bilbo, by preference. Poor Bilbo is always a bit neglected in fanfic, and when he does appear it is always in reference to his adoption of Frodo or something like that, but the stories are never about HIM. And he is an intriguing character, after all.

Author's reply

Take a look at Ch. 27, Marion - hope you enjoy it.

Hobbit Lass21 · 12 November 2004 · Chapter 19: A Gift

THANKYOU!!! YOU ARE FABULOUS!!!!*grins* Hobbit Lass

Author's reply

Glad you liked it - it was fun to write.

Hobbit Lass21 · 2 November 2004 · Chapter 16: Ithilien

*applauds* I positively love drabbles! But I'd like to request one involving little Pip or little Frodo, please! Many thanks and more writing please! Hobbit Lass21

Author's reply

Hi HobbitLass, Glad you enjoyed them! Hmm, little Pippin or Frodo... I'll have to ponder that for a while, but I'll definitely write you something.

Cookie · 29 September 2004 · Chapter 3: Leavetaking

Great drabble! i really like the way Gilraen hinted at one of them losing a child. Well done!

Author's reply

Glad you enjoyed it, Cookie. psst... wanna drabble? I'm serious about the offer to write one for anyone who asks.

Jay of Lasgalen · 25 August 2004 · Chapter 15: A Ranger's Life

A great series of drabbles, Forodwaith. I especially like this last one, and Aragorn's alienation. Jay

Bodkin · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 9: Overheard at a Wedding

I can see these two, holding up their noses at them. Good for Celebrian and Elrond.

Bodkin · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 7: The White City

What a decision to have to make. Love it.

Bodkin · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 4: Links

Beautiful.

shirebound · 30 April 2004 · Chapter 1: Two Towers and Return of the King Drabbles

These are marvelous. I especially like "Links" and "Leavetaking". "There is no longer any victory it is possible for us to share, Master Elrond. In the end, one of us will lose a child. I will not stay to see who it must be." Very nice.
