Nilmandra · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 16: Renewed Shall Be Blade That Was Broken

I like this, LKK! What a privilege and honor it must have been to be the smith chosen to reforge the sword of Kings! The sword that might defeat Sauron again.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 16: Renewed Shall Be Blade That Was Broken

Yes, I have wondered about the reforging. I liked seeing Peter at least tip his hat to it. The pride that would go in it. I think it is going to be the last thing this elf forges in Arda, perhaps, since even in the books the elves are leaving ME.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 15: Death of a Dream

Aw, poor Gimli. I can relate.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 13: From Enmity to Friendship: Part 4 - Enlightenment

So very very nicely done; you make me see their friendship as something deeper than I thought before. I don't know that I gave it much thought, as I read the LOTR. Thank you.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 12: From Enmity to Friendship: Part 3 - Searching

Awww, so nicely done, so true, your touch.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 11: From Enmity to Friendship: Part 2 - Confusion

Ah ha! The scales are removed from his eyes!

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 10: From Enmity to Friendship: Part 1 - Mistakes

I did not think of this, that Legolas would be furious. Hmmm. I guess he would at that. But would he really think that dwarves would not know beauty when they saw it? I thought at the very least elves recognized the beauty of dwarvish craftsmanship. I'm reading the silmarillion now, and it says the dwarves taught the elves much in the way of crafting things, and loved the jewel work. And, of course, they appreciated having the good, metal weapons when the orcs came. (Tolkien says this is why Eru Thingol's group vaquishes the enemy but Cirdan's and others do not.) Anyway, it was so long before Legolas was around, I bet he never thinks of stuff like that.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 9: For She Is Dear to Us

How, indeed, to avenge that which can never be made right again. Killing will not do it. Poor Celebrian. Would it take having one's memory erased?

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 8: Spoons

Yes, why IS that umbrella oddly shaped? I bet she doesn't let him have the stuff back, but I hope he makes her. Grasping people. What do they think stuff will avail them?? (Had a sister-in-law like this.) K

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 7: At the Top of the Stairs to the Hornburg

Very good; the despertaion of battle we sometimes forget about, we who know how it will turn out. K

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 6: A Place to be a One

So clever and funny! Aren't you the seaky, perceptive, elfling, though. They are BOTH doing this. Each thinks it's his alone. Sooo good.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 5: You Ask Too Much

I absolutely loved this.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 4: Which Way?

Oooo, scary AND sad, kinda. I liked it. So perceptive of you, to note that the twins are left out of the mention of who is not scared. Clever of you to note it and take it a new depth.

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 3: Promise to a Newborn

Very poignant. Very touching. It makes me sad. K

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 2: One Sound

All right, all right! I admit I don't get it. At first I wondered if we were talking about Moria. Hey! I just got it. Maybe. Okay, I just went back and reread. He's talking about the fact that the Mirkwood elves "let" Gollum escape. But how is that last bit supposed to work? The part about the sound that eludes him and continues to elude him? Kalima

Kalima · 28 January 2005 · Chapter 1: The Stone Tree

Oh, very nice. Very nice indeed. I like that: I can feel the warth Gimli feels for Legolas.

Karri · 27 January 2005 · Chapter 16: Renewed Shall Be Blade That Was Broken

A nicely-done glimpse into the head of this elven-smith. :-)

Raksha The Demon · 27 January 2005 · Chapter 16: Renewed Shall Be Blade That Was Broken

Very nice drabble on a fateful moment usually ignored by fanfic writers! I could almost see the sword...

daw the minstrel · 27 January 2005 · Chapter 16: Renewed Shall Be Blade That Was Broken

I like being in the mind of the smith here. You bring this minor but important character to life.

Armariel · 20 January 2005 · Chapter 15: Death of a Dream

These are all very lovely. You do a great job of saying so much with so few words. I am impressed! Keep it up. I think #13 is my favorite:) Armariel~~~{~@

Author's reply

Thank you Armariel. I'm glad you like the drabbles I wrote. Number 13 turned out to be very popular with readers. I appreciate you taking a moment to drop me a note. I hope you will return for new drabbles yet to come. :) LKK

daw the minstrel · 19 January 2005 · Chapter 15: Death of a Dream

Nice juxtaposition of hope and death, LKK. As usual, every word matters.

Author's reply

Thank you, daw. What Durin foresaw versus what Gimli saw makes for quite a wallop when you stop to think about it. Gimli's moment at Mirromere must have been a very sad one, I suspect.

Karri · 19 January 2005 · Chapter 15: Death of a Dream

Nice job! I am glad to see you drabbling again. :-)

Author's reply

It certainly feels good to have the creativity flowing again! :)

Nilmandra · 8 January 2005 · Chapter 14: Tradition

That is a very nice tradition! Very sportsmanlike of them, and I like that we don't know which twin is speaking, either.

Author's reply

I thought that not knowing which twin was this year's winner added to the sense of timelessness. I'm glad you liked the effect, as well. Thanks for the review! PS: I promise I will get a chance to finish History Lessons very soon!

Jay of Lasgalen · 7 January 2005 · Chapter 14: Tradition

Thank you, LKK, I still love this! I have just one question - which twin won this year's contest? Jay

Author's reply

Since you're the birthday girl, I'll tell you. Elrohir forfeited this year's contest so that Elladan could have an extra special day. Happy birthday! :)

Sulriel · 7 January 2005 · Chapter 14: Tradition

very nice! I share Jay's love of the Twins and enjoyed this very much. Thank you for sharing.!

Author's reply

Thank you, Sulriel. I'm with Jay and you in loving the twins. So this was a pleasure to write. :)
