Hai Took · 20 July 2004 · Chapter 7: Going Out

Such attachment at such a young age! I guess that was a big part of thier foundation as friends! Very sweet! Thank you for such wonderful stories!

Author's reply

I love the way little children look at older ones. They always want to go with the bigger kids and I think Pippin was always wanting to go with his Merry.

Hai Took · 20 July 2004 · Chapter 6: The Cart

The last bit was great! "“Won’t running into the fort again work?”" That Pip was brave enough to want to go with Merry was very nice. I like the way you wrote Freddy and Folco, that they would tease Merry a bit but still realize that it could be serious if things went wrong. Thank you for the tale!

Author's reply

Freddy and Falco don't mind teasing a bit but they don't want anyone to get hurt. Glad you liked them in this one.

Hai Took · 20 July 2004 · Chapter 5: Here kitty, Kitty

That was great! At least there wasn't a snake to be found! But a skunk? Oh dear! And Frodo got it instead of Merry! Frodo should have made Merry look for the "kitty" and Frodo should have taken Pippin! I like what Pip calls Bilbo! What fun! Thank you!

Author's reply

Thanks so much for reading all of these. Your reviews are a great help to me.

Hai Took · 20 July 2004 · Chapter 4: Bucket!

Pippin thinking he was going to be trapped in a bucket forever, poor guy! I laughed thorugh the whole thing! I like the way you write Pearl, calm in the face of a problem such as this must have been difficult! Thank for asuch a fun story!

Author's reply

As the oldest, I think Pearl would have to be the one in charge and calm in the face of trouble. It's a tough job but someone has to do it.

Dreamflower · 19 July 2004 · Chapter 7: Going Out

Stubborness, thy name is Took! Determination, thy name is Peregrin! Look out Merry, here he comes!

Author's reply

Merry is in for a time because Pip will not be left for long.

Dreamflower · 19 July 2004 · Chapter 6: The Cart

Lovely! Pippin's faith in his Merry is boundless! And Merry is gradually beginning to appreciate Pip as well as love him. "Fearless imp!" indeed!

Author's reply

I think sometimes it takes a while to realize just who your friends are and Merry is starting to get the idea.

Hai Took · 18 July 2004 · Chapter 3: Merry's Doorway

How sweet! The way Errol "spoke" to Merry and not Pippin was cute, sometimes it is easier to pretend it is someone else with the problems! Very cute, thank you!

Author's reply

Pip wanted Merry to think that he was brave and so he used Errol a bit. I don't suppose the bunny minded too much and Merry was good enough to play along. Thanks for all of the lovely reviews. Very encouraging!

Hai Took · 18 July 2004 · Chapter 2: A Nasty Turn of Events

Perfect! Very appropriate that Merry and Pippin get caught in their own snare! I like that Merry isn't going to beg but Pippin is ready to do a little begging in order to get down! I think I would too if I was hung by my ankles! Thank you!

Author's reply

I figure that Merry has too much pride to beg for much of anything, but Pip might be able to charm his way out of this mess. Glad you enjoyed this.

Hai Took · 18 July 2004 · Chapter 1: First Impressions

That was too cute! You used such cute terms like "“Don’t talk to me,” Merry said, firmly. “I don’t plan to like you." and "Merry had to realize that he was the proud owner of a new cousin." were my favorites! Thank you for such a fun story!

Author's reply

Thank you for reading and reviewing this one. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it.

Dreamflower · 17 July 2004 · Chapter 5: Here kitty, Kitty

Well, for once it was daytime when I read this, LOL! I saw at once where this one was going--and that made it even more hilarious. Notice that even at this young age, Pippin has a penchant for finding trouble, and that Merry even then *knows* this. Hopefully, Frodo will have learned to listen to Merry when it comes to Pippin from here on out. How long do you suppose it takes skunk to wear off?

Author's reply

No clue how long it would take the skunk smell to wear off but having smelled skunk in passing, I'd guess that it takes far too long. LOL Glad you enjoyed this one. I have a feeling that there will be more of them. Looking forward to more of you story also. (hint hint)

Pearl Took · 17 July 2004 · Chapter 5: Here kitty, Kitty

These are so cute!!!! I loved everyone of them. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

Author's reply

Thank you. You read them all? I am glad that you enjoyed them. I may have one or two more in the next few days, but like these, they will be short, one-chapter stories. Thank you for reading.

Dreamflower · 16 July 2004 · Chapter 4: Bucket!

Omigosh! Why do you always do this to me in the middle of the night? I'm having silent hysterics here! This is the funniest one yet! I could picture all this so easily--you are a genius! Pip with the bucket on his head, Merry and Pervinca bickering over getting it off. I loved Pearl in this one, not even losing her cool when she took a tumble getting it off. "Merry and Pervinca were useless." (snort*wheeze*chuckle*wipe tears) You keep this up, and some night I'm going to wake everybody up and it will be *all your fault*! (giggle*chuckle*snigger)

Author's reply

Hey, we night owls love company and so we try to keep everyone else awake too! When you do wake them, you may blame me for all of it, Or you could take the hobbit way out and bribe them with food. Feed them and then send them back to bed. I am such a trouble maker. It may be why I am attracted to Merry and Pippin. I am so glad Pearl came off as the calm one in this. I discribed her that way in the original story and was trying to keep her true to character. Took me a while to come up with a way for Pip to get a bucket stuck on his head and so I am glad to see that it worked. Get some rest because I plan to post another one of these tomorrow night. LOL

Dreamflower · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 2: A Nasty Turn of Events

Oops. Missed seeing the "age thingy" at the top first time round. Ignore question.

Dreamflower · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 3: Merry's Doorway

Awww! Naturally Merry can't resist Pip for long. And I love Errol! (Where *did* you come up with "Errol"?) So cute and funny, and a nice change of pace to have it in Merry's voice.

Author's reply

I, like Merry, have no idea why the bunny's name is Errol. It just sounded right at the time. It was interesting writing this as Merry. Glad it came off well. I may try it again sometime.

Dreamflower · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 2: A Nasty Turn of Events

ROTFLS (the 'S' is for silently, so I don't wake up the whole house!) I can just picture this! The funniest, and yet truest part of this was Pippin's solemn faith in his Merry. Why of *course* Merry would know how to get them down--his Merry knows *everything* doesn't he? How old are they in this one?

Author's reply

This one didn't really have ages attached when I wrote it. I knew that they would both be at least teens, but I hadn't decided. When I moved it here to post it, I decided the ages then. I see by your post above this that you found the note at the top of the chapter. LOL I do that all the time myself! Thanks for reading!

Dreamflower · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 1: First Impressions

Oh this was too sweet! I love it that Frodo himself saw to bonding Merry and Pippin (although in later years when they ganged up on him, he might have had some brief regrets, LOL!) Merry sticking his finger in Pip's mouth to check for teeth reminded me of the time I grabbed hold of my baby sister's tongue to see how far back it went! This is a great start, and I'm pleased that each story can stand by itself with no nasty cliffies.

Author's reply

I have a few of these little stories and didn't want to post them a lots of little stories on their own so I figured this was the way to go. People can read one chapter, read them out of order, or whatever. They don't really go together other than they are Merry and Pippin. Glad that you liked this one. I could see Merry being a bit of a hard sell at first. After all, he's an eight-year-old lad and most of them are not too interested in babies.

Bodkin · 15 July 2004 · Chapter 3: Merry's Doorway

Big ahhh. It's a good thing that Errol needed someone to protect him from the dangers of the dark, or maybe Pippin and Merry wouldn't have grown up so close. I'm glad Merry weakened - and he could try ear plugs.

Author's reply

Thanks for reading. I only hope for Merry's sake that Errol doesn't snore.

Lindelea · 14 July 2004 · Chapter 0: A little explanation

Feel free to read as many of them as you can tolerate. (In my best "Han Solo" voice): I can tolerate quite a lot. Luke Skywalker: You'll get it! Han Solo: I'd better! Luke Skywalker: You will!

Author's reply

LOL May the force be with you while you read these, Han Solo! My Yoda voice: "Write more of them, I must. Come, the hobbit stories do, and write them, I must."

PIppinfan1988 · 14 July 2004 · Chapter 2: A Nasty Turn of Events

LOL...oh, my gosh! Leave it to Merry and Pippin--only their own contraptions would turn on them! Hope more ficlets are on their way! ;-) Pippinfan

Author's reply

I have quite a few of these little stories to post. Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it! LOL

PIppinfan1988 · 14 July 2004 · Chapter 1: First Impressions

“But don’t get to like me, because I’m going home in two weeks.” The baby kicked him again and Merry smiled. “Good, you don’t like me either. I think this will work out just fine.” - GW Hehehehe....famous last words!! And I thoroughly enjoy the love and humor that you write between these two. Pippinfan

Author's reply

Thank you! They sort of write themselves and I just listen.

PIppinfan1988 · 14 July 2004 · Chapter 0: A little explanation

Merry and Pippin ficlets are always nice to read! I'm happy to see your muse has been whacking you over the head. I've been slightly beaten these past couple weeks myself, so in answer to your Happy Returns reply...yes...on both accounts! I need to at least get a good cushion going for my current story before I can move onto a second story... See ya in the next chapter! I can tell this is going to be a good set of stories--but what the heck, ALL of your stories are good! :-) Pippinfan

Author's reply

That's who's been whacking me over the head! My Muse! I'm going to have to put a stop to that nonsensebefore a nasty headache begins. Hey, you wanna buy a slightly used Muse? Sell it to you cheap because we're such good friends. If not I suppose I could list it on Ebay. Let it whack someone else in the head for a while. I am looking forward to more of your wonderful stories. Thanks for reading!

Bodkin · 14 July 2004 · Chapter 2: A Nasty Turn of Events

Merry is a very clever hobbit - but he's outsmarted himself here! Hoist with his own petard. Love the length of time it took Pippin to catch on. It must be horrible to hang upside down with all the blood rushing to your head. And probably bad for you. Cleverly written tale.

Author's reply

Thank you! In this case, Merry out-smarted himself by doing too good of a job on the snare, but failing to have a back-up plan. Guess they will have to rely on Pippin's begging. Thank you for reading and reviewing.
