Armariel · 2 December 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

Hehehe....trés cute! I love critters! (But not in my kitchen...not like that possum that got in there once and started eating the cat food and I finally had to scare it out with the vacuum cleaner since the cats wouldn't go near it, or the snake that got into my washing machine etc. etc.....)

Author's reply

Your kitchen sounds a bit like mine. I saved a garter snake from my cats this summer. It was taking a nap on my kitchen floor. So far the only possum that I have is the one that eats the cat food on the front porch with the four raccoons that drop by but we did have a little mouse that I took out in one of those humane traps. I can't kill anything but spiders and them I'd rather someone else killed. They worry me. Glad you liked all the animals in this!

PIppinfan1988 · 2 December 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

ROTFLMBO!! Omgosh - just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, the goat shows up...lol. Are you sure it wasn't Dumpling in disguise? ;-) Wow -- so many words to include! You did fabulous!

Author's reply

No, this wasn't Dumpling! hehehe. Cathleen didn't include any sheep in this challenge. I started to stick one in but when I looked the kitchen was completely full!

Larner · 1 December 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

Yes, when one finds oneself beginning to think like Pippin, that is a moment in which to stop and take stock indeed--if, that is, half of it weren't enjoying itself within Bag End! Poor Frodo! And that GOAT! Heh! (But no sheep? Giggle!)

Author's reply

I know! There were no sheep on the list of animals to use in the challenge and I decided that it would be wrong to sneak them in. But the sheep were partly responsible for this story all the same. While in the UK we visited this very old Church that had a sign on the door which warned that anyone visiting the church should keep the door closed because if they didn't the sheep would come in! They also warned that the cows would eat your car antenna but somehow I didn't think that would fit into a Middle earth story. hehehe

Pearl Took · 1 December 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

Bravo! Bravo!! Bravisimo!!! You are the Mistress of Hobbit Humor, GW! :-D

Author's reply

Thank you but I wouldn't go that far. I am very glad you enjoyed it though.

harrowcat · 30 November 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

Oh this is just brilliant GW. Just what I needed after my 90 minute drive back from my parents took 4hours! heavy rain and a bad accident!

Author's reply

Now that sounds like one very wicked drive! Sorry you had to go through that just to get home. Thanks for reading and I am very glad that you enjoyed it.

cookiefleck · 30 November 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

This is so cute and funny! My favorite line was the Gaffer taking a second look so he could be sure to report accurately down at the tavern. LOL!

Author's reply

I can just see the Gaffer spending the entire day telling and re-telling this story while his friends buy him drinks down at the tavern and ask him to "tell it again, Gaffer! That Baggins is almost as strange as old Bilbo was!" Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the review!

Dreamflower · 30 November 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

*ROTFLMBO*howl*snort*giggle*wipes eyes*snicker*snerk*hiccup!* Good grief, GW, I think you got every single thing on the list *except* the skunk, and if you count the Author's note, you could count the skunk too! (I'm sure mentioning something to mention that you are not mentioning it should count!) Poor Frodo--I loved him wishing Pippin were there! I'm sure that Pippin would have found several bright sides to the situation--why, how often does one have such a good view of so many different animals at one time? Perhaps Frodo could charge folks a penny apiece to come and look at all the animals through his window! And I am quite sure he would have had a lot of questions about what those bunnies were doing! He might have suggested Errol join them! And I am very sure Merry is going to be sorry he missed this one--perhaps that could be one of Frodo's bright sides: Merry was not there to make his snarky remarks on the situation. Though of course he will make up for it when he hears about it! And perhaps the Widow will allow Frodo to make up to her if he buys her a whole set of fancy new tins! Ah, well! At least now Frodo gets to remodel the kitchen. Do you suppose he'll go for granite countertops and high-end appliances? *giggle*grin*goes back to read again*

Author's reply

I love the way your reviews include sound-affects. I don't get that from just every one. Oh, and this sentence, (I'm sure mentioning something to mention that you are not mentioning it should count!), did you get that directly from Pippin? LOL That just sounds like Pippish to me. I don't think the Widow will forgive Frodo easily but maybe he will be able to make his own biscuits once he gets those new appliances. Thanks for reading!

shirebound · 30 November 2007 · Chapter 10: The Perils of Leaving the backdoor Ajar...

“I’m sorry, Sam,” Frodo said quickly. “It’s just this entire situation has me on edge. I have rabbits and ponies in my kitchen!” “Don’t forget that goat,” *snort* Omigosh, poor Frodo! *gigglesnort*

Author's reply

Wasn't Sam helpful? You just gotta remember the goat since there were, NO SHEEP IN THIS STORY! Can you believe that? But on the list of animals that could be included in the challenge it didn't list sheep. Strange...

Queen Galadriel · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 3: An Evening With Bilbo

LOL! Pippin is adorable-even though I know he'd be very angry with me for saying so just now! :)

Author's reply

He would but I won't tell him about it if you don't. LOL Thanks for the review!

Queen Galadriel · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 2: By His Side

Oh, GW, I don't have words for this one. So beautiful! I can so see Gandalf thinking just these thoughts. God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

Thank you. This is one of my very rare serious ones. I am glad that you enjoyed it.

Queen Galadriel · 19 February 2007 · Chapter 1: Rumors

LOL! Hilarious! And I agree with Larner-if you haven't, you should read Primsong's "Nothing of Note," a regular Bilbo-gem. God bless, Galadriel

Author's reply

I have meant to read that ever since Larner first suggested it to me but I had forgotten about it until your review. I will have to mark that down to read as soon as I can. I just adore Bilbo. Thank you for reading this!

Baggins Babe · 16 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

Pippin growled something that probably wasn’t repeatable in polite company but made no effort to get up. “I don’t think that would be very pleasant,” Merry said. “Besides, if I were to attempt that I might injure myself and then you’d have to get up and go get a healer.” He reached over and poked the largest portion of the blanket pile sharply. Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!! Oh dear, I laughed so much at this story when you first posted it that I completely forgot to review! This was absolutely hilarious - Frodo has a very inventive evil streak, doesn't he? Cunning hobbit, and I just loved the 'it's all in the details.' great story, GW.

Author's reply

That you! I just adore it when people laugh at these things. I like to let Frodo master mind a trick or two now and then. Merry and Pippin shouldn't have all the fun. (In this case, Pippin didn't have too much fun at all. LOL) Thanks for the lovely review!

Bodkin · 13 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

A delightful dose of Pip-torture - and a clear indication that revenge is a dish best served cold ... Mind you, locking the bedroom door is a way of keeping yourself safe overnight - but I dread to think what a worked-up Pippin might do to the rest of the smial. Very entertaining.

Author's reply

It is hard to tell what Pippin will do at this point but I am very certain that he will have to get his own revenge at some point in all of this. Frodo may need more than just that one door bolt. LOL

harrowcat · 11 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

Oh you do know how to keep up the suspense and then leave the very best bit til the very last. I was rolling around in fits of giggles - great stuff!

Author's reply

Why thank you! I love it when these bring on fits of giggles. Thank you so much for reviewing and for reading! It means a lot to me to know people enjoy these.

Glory Underhill · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

Ahahahaha this was wonderful! Evil cousins! I loved this... “You do like to sleep until it becomes light, don’t you?” Merry said grinning broadly. “It’s a weakness,” Frodo said. ...and the bit about Pippin's howl being heard as far away as Bree. Brilliant!

Author's reply

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. I imagine that if someone dumped ice water on me then they'd hear me howling for a good long while if the shock didn't kill me. LOL Thanks for reviewing!

Armariel · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

YEE-haw!!!!!!! I LOVE these stories!! That Bilbo, what an irrepressible rascal...hehehe...and poor old Otho, talk about henpecked...and that with the punch bowl...and Frodo getting Pippin back with a bucket of icy water.......hehehehe....I'll be chuckling all night! I hope you come up with more soon! Thanks for a most enjoyable read! ~~~{~@

Author's reply

Thank you. For some reason I hadn't posted anything to this little group of stories in a while but I do hope to have more of these at some point. Most of the things I write seem to fit better under "Trust a Brandybuck and a Took" but this was just Frodo's moment. LOL

Andrea · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

"The really entertaining part of all of this is going to be when he realizes that it’s only one in the morning and he is wide awake." ROTFL!!! That was brilliant, G.W., really brilliant! One in the morning?! Pippin will be furious! But Frodo had that bolt installed, and that will prevent Pippin from doing something nasty - "It's all in the details" ;-)

Author's reply

Thank you for the lovely review and I am very glad that this gave you a laugh. Sooner or later Frodo and Merry will have to come out of that room and then, who's to say what might happen. Pippin will have had time to think about it all and.....

Lindelea · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

You are absolutely wicked, and this was a riot. Here I am caught short with no time for a proper review. I love your way with ocnversation, and your cheeky hobbits! sounding as if this were news he’d never heard before. (and many more snippets. many many more snippets. buckets. and details.) Great job!

Author's reply

Thank you very much! Sometimes I like to allow Frodo to pull out his own bag of tricks and show his younger cousins exactly who the expert is on such matters. Thank you for reviewing!

shirebound · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

This reminds me of that Klingon saying, "Revenge is a dish best served cold." Omigosh, Pippin will be FURIOUS! A plan ten years in the making... wow. No wonder our hobbits were persistent enough to make it through the Quest. *giggles*

Author's reply

I love that Klingon saying! I had to fight to keep from putting it into the story. Now, I am thinking of another Klingon saying, you know the one, "Today is a good day to die"? Personally, I'd want to kill someone if they did that to me. LOL The Hobbits were a persistent bunch, weren't they? I always think of Pippin as the underdog, but really in matters like revenge, when he was small he had the edge because Frodo and Merry would have been limited by what they could and couldn't do to a small child. LOL

SlightlyTookish · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

LOL, poor Pippin! I think he needs to plot some revenge against his cruel cousins! :)

Author's reply

Oh, I am certain that he will think of something given a bit of time. After all he will have to be thinking about something while he's cleaning up the water and getting warm. hehehe

GamgeeFest · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

LOL! One in the morning! Frodo and Merry really went to great lengths to get their revenge. Not that it wasn't deserved. It would be annoying to be woken up like that all the time. Frodo is extremely good with all those details and I love that Pippin didn't really believe he had a bucket. Now you have to write a story about Pippin's payback!

Author's reply

Frodo is the master when it comes to long range planning. LOL Glad this gave you a laugh and I am convinced that Pippin is planning something.....

Elemmírë · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

Now THAT was cruel!!!! ................................. But very, very funny!!!! At first I comiserated with Pippin being woken up. I really loved the line: “Greet it for me, will you?” Pippin muttered from beneath the blankets. That is how I feel most mornings, being a nightshift worker. But then as I read on, I really started to feel for Merry and Frodo ... until it was realized Frodo was carrying a bucket. Poor, dear Pippin!!!! I would be outraged to first be woken from a sound sleep, have icy water dumped on me, then discover it was only ONE in the MORNING!!!!!!!!!! (and then be forced to clean the mess and try to get warm while your two cousins slept blissfully behind closed doors) At least Frodo realized his revenge would have to wait 10 long years (now that's patience for you) and that he could not have the heart to do such a thing to a child. I'm not sure the end justified the means in this case. Yes, Frodo and Merry were tormented by Pippin's early morning "greetings" for many, many years but to do this to the poor lad......I wonder what he's planning for revenge. (rubs hands eagerly together in glee anticipating a sequel) :D

Author's reply

At one point or another in this story I think everyone had a right to complain but Frodo had waited ten years for his chance and I guess his plot just grew from getting even to getting ahead. LOL I had people who are cheerful in the morning and who expect me to be cheerful too. I think that's what made me write this. Between the three of them they list some of the things I hate about being woke up. hehehe My least favorite morning greeting is, "Rise and shine!" Glad you enjoyed it. I suspect Pippin is thinking a great deal about revenge just now. I am sure that before too long he will come up with a plan.

Dreamflower · 10 September 2006 · Chapter 9: It's All In The Details

*ROTFLMBO*!!!!! GW, how on earth did I miss this? I thought I always read all the Challenge stories!! This is wickedly funny, and I love the whole thing--but even with the bolt on the door, Frodo and Merry had better keep alert. Pippin's revenge may take on a form they don't expect! He's going to be prowling around Bag End for hours while they sleep... Ah, Frodo, you can be evil--but you are a very *good* host--"details"! *snorfle*

Author's reply

This wasn't a challenge story. This turned up in my head at about 4am and I just wrote it all down and posted it. It's never been anywhere else before. Pippin is as angry as "a wet hen" er "Hobbit" at this point and I am quite sure that he will be planning something. My mind will probably find out what before too long. All of that shaking and freezing and cursing has got to lead to something. I do enjoy an evil Frodo from time to time and I had been neglecting this little group of stories. Suppose Frodo got any advice on his detailed hosting from Dora or her book? LOL

Glory Underhill · 20 April 2006 · Chapter 8: The Whole Story...

OMG! Very well done...very tense. I don't think Frodo will be reading in the bath again. Thank you!

Author's reply

Thank you for reading and reviewing. Glad you enjoyed it!

Bodkin · 15 April 2006 · Chapter 8: The Whole Story...

Books in the bath. So irresistible - and such a bad idea! I wonder how long it took Frodo to get another copy of the book. I'm sure the need to know the ending haunted him until he did. Perhaps Bilbo gave him a copy for his next birthday. And every time he saw it on his shelf, it reminded him not to take in that next book he was longing to finish.

Author's reply

You know, that's an excellent idea about the birthday gift. That would work too and be just long enogh to wait for the answer so that it would still be a good idea. Thanks for reviewing!
