Queen Galadriel · 18 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Awww...this is cute! LOL! I can just see Pippin pinned under that huge puppy! But who gave it to him, and what's Frodo going to do? God bless, Galadriel

Larner · 15 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Poor Pippin, apparently stuck with this mountain of a dog, and now having to find some way of dealing with it. So, will Frodo now approach Aragorn and gift it further to him, or was the King the source of it? Interesting dilemma, of course. And the idea of trying to keep it out of the food is delightful, as are Pippin's gloomy imaginings of what will happen if he can't get the thing off his lap. And love the tea and Frodo not finishing it as he goes on his errand of mercy.

Bodkin · 15 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

But he doesn't have to hang on to the gift for too long, does he? Considering it's alive. He can pass it on to another worthy recipient. A certain tall Dunadan comes to mind - I'm sure he could do with an oversized puppy. Or maybe the Steward - to keep him company until he can wed Eowyn.

Telpethoron · 15 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

I've been reading Dreamflower's stories about Dora Baggins, and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this. I can imagine Pippin having a way with dogs, given his kind and loving nature. It's funny, though, to picture him trying to give commands to a creature that even as a puppy towers over him. What if it were a full grown German Shepherd or Labrador Retriever (or the Middle Earth equivalent)? You did a fine job with this one, Lindelea. Thanks for posting it!

Grey Wonderer · 15 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

I know I left a review already but I have just thought of something. In the Shire wouldn't Pippin's large puppy be rather like Clifford the big Red dog eventually? LOL

Grey Wonderer · 15 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

I wonder what Frodo will do about this. LOL I can just see Pippin and the giant puppy. Seems large, heavy things are always falling or sitting on Pippin. Wagons, trolls, really big dogs, trees..... hehehe Now, I wonder who thought to give Pippin this really big puppy. Looking forward to more of this.

Dreamflower · 14 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

*giggle*grin* You already know I *adore* this, but I thought I'd say so again! And I see I'm not the only one who wants to know how Pip came by the pup, and what Frodo will do about it... *grins some more* Miss Dora did indeed leave a rather difficult conundrum, didn't she?

SlightlyTookish · 14 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Oooh, lovely! I'd like to see how Frodo handles this! :D

demeter d · 14 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Oh, to be continued, I hope? Pretty please? So delightfully begun. I remember when my now grown very tall son was a year old and a neighbor had a Saint Bernard. My lad was eye-to-eye with the gentle beast's tail! i can just picture that one, or something like an Irish wolfhound, laying on poor Pippin! I would love to see how Frodo handles this....who do they find to give it to...How many of them does it take to walk him to his new home... All kinds of possibilities here!

shirebound · 14 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Puppy!! Sorry, where was I... Ah, yes. This is great! I love it when two authors' stories intertwine, and it's delightful that hobbits all know and can quote from Aunt Dora's wisdom. I hope there will be more? *looks hopeful*

Pearl Took · 14 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

LOL Oliphant indeed!!! Pippin really ought to be able to keep the puppy, it obviously adores the lad ;-) Great fun, Lin!!

harrowcat · 14 September 2006 · Chapter 20: Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

Oh, Oh, I can just see Pippin pinned down by this adorable mutt. Just as well no one is silly enough to compare it to a troll though! I want him to keep it! Can you just imagine the faces of the hobbits in the shire? O do hope this isn't over. I want to know who 'gave' it to him and how Frodo is going to sort it out.

Bodkin · 16 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

Oh dear! Putting ideas into Paladin and Odovacar's heads! Not a good thing. Estella makes a very glittery bride - and binding the groom to make him co-operative isn't a bad idea. I love his claim that Estella is now married to Mentha since she did the talking.

Author's reply

Hmmm. Binding the groom. I wonder if it's a new concept? No, probably not.

Anso the Hobbit · 15 August 2006 · Chapter 18: Bloom of Sunshine, Bloom of Gold

Hehehe! What a wonderful and funny story! I read parts of it a few weeks ago thanks to emails I got from Dreamflower but only managed to read the rest now. What a team they make, mari and Merry, lol! Well done. :D

Pearl Took · 14 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

This is too precious, Lin :) :) Absolutely wonderful and adorable. Who better than Pip, especially when he has these sisters who are used to using him for such occations. Bravo! MEWD!!!

Author's reply

Yes, the new baby brother must have seemed something like a living doll to the three sisters. I wonder how old he was when he finally learned to walk!

Tigger · 14 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

ROTFLOL!!! Oh my goodness!! I've tears streaming thanks to laughing so hard over this. You didn't happen across little ones playing wedding, did you? It's just...This is *so* perfect!! Right down to the lasses dripping in jewels from their Mum's jewelry boxes and poor Pippin being forced to be the Groom...*snicker*!! This was just too delightful for words. Thanks for sharing!! :o)

Author's reply

LOL, how'd you guess? Except that I was one of the... um... perpetrators. Many years ago. Still brings a smile. *g*

SlightlyTookish · 14 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

This is delightful! Poor Pippin! *giggles* I especially love that the parents stood around and watched. :D

Author's reply

Yes, and if they'd had cameras likely they'd have snapped a pic before breaking up the fun. *g*

harrowcat · 14 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

Pippin and.....Estella???!!!!? *snort* *grin* Erm...perhaps the genealogies have got it wrong! I love all the reactions, especially of the adults. For the record I would definitely have been wanting to run with the lads. I hated playing with dollies and dressing up.

Author's reply

Um, yes, in my first long story, "Jewels", I sort of mixed up the couples before I put them together properly again. So Dana has got a Pippin-and-Estella fixation and she loves it when I write the two of them together. *g* I was a tomboy myself, so I well remember the feeling.

SurgicalSteel · 14 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

That was simply adorable! I'm still giggling at poor little Pippin!

Author's reply

Thanks! Even dh snorked when he read this, and that's high praise coming from him.

demeter d · 14 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

"until I've drunk the last drop in the cup, and no more days remain to me"... fine words, indeed! and Bilbo and the goblins....delightful! poor little guy. Outnumbered. Give him another 15-20 years and he won't think lasses are so bad. This is hilarious.

Author's reply

Poor Pippin, he's likely to regard lasses with suspicion for some time to come.

Larner · 13 August 2006 · Chapter 19: Til Death Us Do Part

You have me just about rolling with this one! Oh, how wonderful! Poor Pippin, stuck with a scene like this one. Estella as the bride, and all the borrowed jewelry.... Lovely laughs here.

Author's reply

LOL, it makes me smile to think of it. Glad to see you back! Are your computer woes being sorted out? (Nasty hackers. Should be hung by their thumbs. Permanently.)

Larner · 13 August 2006 · Chapter 18: Bloom of Sunshine, Bloom of Gold

Ah, dear--what a thing to happen on her birthday! Love the barrow and the Gaffer's familiar sentiments. Lovely!

Larner · 13 August 2006 · Chapter 17: A Breath of Fresh Air

The memory of being under the troll must have lingered so. Lovely accomplishment, meeting this challenge.

Larner · 13 August 2006 · Chapter 16: Rendering

Sharing the grief of the great Elven lord must have been shocking. Lovely short one, Lindelea.

Larner · 13 August 2006 · Chapter 15: They Also Serve

Oh, Marvelous! Wish I'd seen this one elsewhere! Yes, Rosie knew, and was able to tell Marigold to hearten her. Am so glad Saruman only got a month in the Shire--unprintable word that he'd become! But Sam is back and has hardened--become sterner, like the trees he sees replaced. Lovely!
